Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 938
Chapter 930: The Disaster Fleet is Destroyed
. Zakaria survived.
But his life wasn’t good either.
He suffered the loss of an arm and both legs, and was dragged from his guards, thrown aboard a fighter plane, and brought to the church.
He was captured.
This was outrageous, even more outrageous than his own death.
In the final battle, Zakaria, realizing he couldn’t escape, turned to a desperate tactic: to wield the unholy artifacts bestowed upon him by Bassol.
These divinely bestowed artifacts were truly powerful. Even with the intervention of two Unleaked, they couldn’t completely suppress the unleashing of the Warp’s foul magic. Three Imperial Guards, known for their near-immune resistance to psychic energy and Warp forces, were mortally burned and died.
This proved that Bassol was truly sincere and that the reward he bestowed was indeed powerful. The force of this single strike surpassed even the full-strength attack of an average Alpha-class psyker, capable of piercing the Unleaked’s warp hole and possessing enough power to incinerate the Imperial Guards.
But that was all.
Though Martins, blazing with flames, sustained some damage, it barely affected his combat effectiveness.
He charged at his foe, striking Zakaria with a swift blow that left him sweating profusely.
He managed to catch the blow, but the pressure was immense.
Martins’s strike was too swift, and Zakaria barely managed to react. By the time he’d reacted, Martins had shifted his tactics, subtly changing the blade’s trajectory. Zakaria reacted again and caught the blow.
However, the force was so intense that his power armor creaked and groaned.
Despite the physical blessings bestowed upon him by the evil god, he still lacked the strength, agility, reflexes, and speed to rival Martins’s.
The power armor bestowed by the evil god was incredibly powerful, both in terms of power and protection. The battle axe, called ‘Frostbite,’ was also exceptional.
But so what? Gu Hang had a hand in crafting all of Martins’s equipment, and it was every bit as good as—if not better than—that bestowed upon him by Bassol.
This didn’t mean Gu Hang was superior to Bassol in crafting equipment and tools.
However, Gu Hang also had numerous Mechanicus sages at his side to assist him.
Most crucially, what was Zakaria to Bassol? At best, he was a decent thug, while Gu Hang treated Martins like his own son, scrambling to get him every good he could, fearing he would suffer any setback.
This level of dedication widened the equipment gap between the two.
So, what chance did he have of winning?
Thanks to his foundation as the Chosen Champion, coupled with Bassol’s numerous blessings, Zakaria was finally no longer in a position to be instantly defeated.
But that was all.
His true strength wasn’t even at the level of the Bone Crusher King, so how could he possibly fight against a ‘Son of God’ armed to the teeth?
He simply held out for a little longer in Martins’s hands. He
lost his hold once and his arm was broken.
The Nirvana Blade in Martins’s hand was also an excellent relic painstakingly crafted by Gu Hang. It contained a portion of the subspace essence from the Kingdom of Storm God. Combined with the power in Martins’ hands, severing the power armor was no problem.
After his arm was severed, Zakaria was even more helpless.
Martins intentionally left him alive, severing his legs and having someone drag him away.
Then, he led the team out of the encirclement.
While they might have claimed to have broken through the encirclement, in reality, it was far easier than when he had charged in.
The already terrified White Wolves were only able to persevere under Zakaria’s orders. Now, Zakaria, their strongest among them, the warband leader who had held them in high esteem for millennia, had been dragged away like a dead dog. What were they supposed to do?
Risk their lives, knowing they were doomed to fail, to go all out to rescue their fleet’s leader?
No kidding.
They were already quite generous for holding out until this point.
The more serious task was to figure out how the White Wolves could choose a new leader within their ranks after Zakaria’s capture.
With this devastating blow dealt to them, maintaining their position within the Scourge Fleet was crucial. Whether a White Wolf could continue to rule the fleet, rather than having it usurped by another warband or ambitious individual, was crucial.
Hmm… they hadn’t yet considered what would happen if their Scourge Fleet itself was also destroyed.
…
Once Martins captured Zakaria, the White Wolf King and leader of the Scourge Fleet, the battle was effectively over.
The Chaos Legion was no longer capable of organizing another offensive. Their command center, decapitated, was in disarray. Even without considering the internal strife that would ensue after losing their authoritative leader, the mere question of how to reorganize their command center after losing unified command would be enough to keep them apprehensive for a while.
With the enemy no longer actively attacking, their leader captured, and the crucial “item” safely within Alliance control, there was no need for the Alliance to initiate further conflict.
Waiting, waiting, another wave of air support arrived.
Martins’s forces were gradually becoming more numerous.
More crucially, ships from other sectors, originally part of the Southern Front’s main fleet, had also arrived.
In the Papalil system, the Alliance fleet, initially too small to confront the Scourge Fleet head-on, gradually shifted.
But Martins was incredibly patient.
He did not let the fleets that flew over rush into the battle.
The situation was not critical, so he would hide it.
When the number of ships coming back to support reached thousands, Martins thought the time had come.
The main fleet, which had been hiding on the back of the planet Papalil and not confronting the Disaster Fleet head-on, immediately attacked, and the Queen of Glory battleships of the Southern Front showed off their power.
Not far away, thousands of Alliance ships that had been assembled to support the fleet broke their silence and moved out at full speed, surrounding the entire Disaster Fleet from behind.
Didn’t the Disaster Fleet discover the large-scale gathering and support of the human fleet?
Yes, they did.
It’s just that the Space Marines are in charge of the fleet, and most of their main forces are still on the ground; their command center is still in chaos, and the chaos has not been resolved for several days; they still have internal struggles…
These reasons have hindered the Disaster Fleet from making decisions.
And now, they don’t have to make any decisions.
