Chapter 929, Unstoppable

. Zakaria found it absurd.

The decapitation tactic had actually been used on me?

He had, of course, received information about the previous ground battle.

But to be honest, he hadn’t paid much attention to it.

He knew, of course, that a powerful Space Marine had mowed down his own Chaos Marines on the ground, contributing significantly to the Humanity’s victory in the previous airborne operation.

However, there were subtle discrepancies.

No specific footage of Martins’s attack had been transmitted from the previous battle. The Chaos forces had suffered a crushing defeat, and few of the thousands of Chaos Space Marines who had fought on the ground had survived.

The lack of footage meant Zakaria hadn’t witnessed Martins’s devastating assault on his own warriors. The lack of surviving experts meant there was no one with sufficient authority to report to Zakaria on Martins’s prowess.

Of course, not everyone who witnessed Martins’s attack had died; at least some Chaos Marines who had watched from afar had survived to this day.

He was lucky enough to survive the war, but his personal reports weren’t enough to carry the weight of the news. All he could say was how terrifying Martins was, how tall and mighty he was, how he treated Chaos Space Marines like pigs, slaughtering them with a single blow… How could Zakaria believe

that? What was going on? So, a Son of God had arrived on Papalil?

How ridiculous.

Of course, Zakaria didn’t underestimate his opponent. While he believed the survivors’ exaggerated claims were somewhat exaggerated, even if that were correct, the false Emperor’s lackey must have considerable strength.

A top-tier warrior among the Chapter’s champions? Or perhaps… a Chosen Champion?

Whatever it was, he was confident he could handle it.

The White Wolf King was the most powerful of the pack, and he had always considered himself that way.

Without sufficient strength, how could he dare to covet the position of Warmaster in a Chaos force where strength reigned supreme and the struggle was fierce?

He was already one of Chaos’s finest warriors, possessing the strength of a Chosen Champion.

Not to mention, after collaborating with Bassol, he diligently completed his missions. Among the numerous Disaster Fleets, the one he commanded was the most proactive, and its efficiency was truly exceptional. He recovered numerous “stuff,” completing not only the tasks assigned by Archaton, but also numerous additional tasks.

Bassol generously rewarded these extra tasks and “stuff” he retrieved.

These rewards ranged from terrifyingly powerful artifacts to inexpensive blessings, special abilities that could save lives or allow for ultimate offensive attacks…

His already formidable individual strength, combined with these numerous enhancements, made him practically unbeatable!

Perhaps he was arrogant, but he truly believed that unless he faced a foe like the Son of God or the Chaos Warmaster Archaton, he would be invincible!

Furthermore, he fervently believed he still had ample room for growth and would surely reach even greater heights in the future.

And now, some random champion appeared, attempting a decapitation tactic, and ended up striking him dead?

Absurd!

“Are these false emperor’s minions truly desperate, resorting to such suicidal tactics? Let me grant them their wish!”

Zakaria sneered, his battle axe in hand, and he emerged from the battlefield command post with his White Wolf Guard.

Targeted by a decapitation tactic, he not only refused to retreat, but instead actively confronted it, a testament to his absolute confidence.

However, when he actually laid eyes on Martins, his heart skipped a beat.

His imposing figure seemed even slightly taller than the Chaos Warmaster. Compared to Zakaria himself, he was vastly larger!

Was this truly a God-Chosen Champion?

He began to doubt his own judgment.

If it were merely a cosmetic difference, it would be fine. While rare, it wasn’t impossible to reason that it was merely individual variation.

However, Martins was now slashing his warriors one by one, and he saw it with his own eyes.

Was he just slashing at the weaklings?

Absolutely not!

The moment the airborne decapitation force landed, it caught the attention of Zakaria’s White Wolf cubs.

At Zakaria’s side were, of course, his most trusted troops—the warriors of the White Wolf Warband.

These White Wolves, the core of the core, considered Zakaria’s personal guard, led the White Wolf Guards to meet the enemy.

Initially, seeing the enemy numbered fewer than a hundred, they assumed the battle was merely a desperate suicide attack by the enemy leader, a desperate bid for their lives.

But once the fighting truly began, they discovered something completely different.

The elite White Wolf Guards were decimated!

From the outbreak of the battle until Zakaria arrived, in less than seven minutes, nearly a hundred White Wolf cubs had been slain!

This was arguably the White Wolf Guard’s heaviest loss in nearly a hundred years!

What was the White Wolf Guard’s combat power? Against ordinary Imperial Space Marine chapters, a mere three hundred of them could easily take on an entire chapter! Six hundred years ago, they had achieved the feat of annihilating a fully-strength Chapter with only 170 men leading over 400 ordinary Wolf Cubs!

And now, Zakaria’s most elite White Wolf Guards were being slaughtered like crazy!

The loss of a hundred was not only the greatest loss the White Wolf Guard had suffered in the past century, but it was only the beginning, inflicted in a mere seven minutes!

And these gods of death descended from the sky, only to swell the numbers!

The nearly one hundred human Space Marines who had landed were clearly divided into three tiers.

The largest group consisted of warriors bearing the Fire Emblem and the insignia of the Phoenix Chapter.

These were the Phoenix Chapter’s Honor Guards, the elite of the Great Nirvana Guards. Each of them possessed the strength of a Company Champion, and at least ten of them were Chapter Champions. Even the most formidable of the ordinary White Wolf Guards could not reach this level; encountering them would be a mere chopped-up mess.

Fifteen more, clad in platinum power armor and blue capes, with two azure phoenix wings rising backward from their helmets, their armor’s patterns a classical pattern, distinguishing them from ordinary Space Marines. Armed with long-handled swords and halberds, they fought with impressive force, their strength surpassing even that of the Honor Guards, as if each had reached the level of a Chapter Champion.

If the Great Nirvana Guards could still be slain in battle if surrounded by a large number of enemies or encountered a master among the White Wolf Guards, then these fifteen unknown warriors were truly like gods of death. Even the most skilled White Wolf Guards couldn’t withstand a few rounds before being slain. An ordinary attack of three or five wouldn’t even injure them.

But all of these were no match for the most majestic being.

While the White Wolf Guards found the Yu Lin Army difficult to defeat, even though they viewed them as gods of war, they were still able to fight, even if they couldn’t hold off a few blows. If all else failed, the White Wolf Guards also had Chaos Champions who, when faced with them, could manage to bring along a few minions and barely hold their own against a single Yu Lin soldier.

However, before that most majestic being, everything was like rotten fish and shrimp, dispatched with a single blow.

Of the nearly one hundred White Wolf Guards who perished in those seven minutes, one-third had fallen at his hands.

And those were the most powerful of them all.

After being hacked to pieces like this, even the White Wolf Guards began to feel frightened and even had the thought of retreating, as if they were about to be defeated.

Chaos Space Marines are still Space Marines, and they certainly don’t fear death or suffer the same easily broken morale as mortals.

However, Space Marines aren’t mechanical units whose morale needs to be maintained.

Sometimes, when they’re defeated, it’s not necessarily because they fear death, but rather because they feel that even a fight to the death would be meaningless, and their deaths

would be in vain. Just like that, they felt this way right now, facing the landing human commandos.

So many dead, so quickly, what’s the point?

It’s pointless.

Aside from killing a few Arch-Nirbhansa Guards, the enemy’s advance hasn’t slackened, while their casualties continue to mount.

At this rate, the entire glorious White Wolf Guard will be dead in less than an hour.

And judging by the exchange rate, that’s only thirty or forty Arch-Nirbhansa Guards.

Is it worth risking their lives? Is it worth sacrificing the entire White Wolf Guard just to save thirty or forty enemy lives?

Zakaria himself felt the same way.

He didn’t want to fight the entire White Wolf Guard, but he didn’t want to fight on his own.

What God’s Chosen Champion? A son of God, right?!

He himself was a God’s Chosen Champion, but he didn’t think he could put on such a magnificent display!

If he charged forward, he’d probably have no problem defeating those fifteen exceptional Space Marines, but he was probably no match for that majestic warrior.

He didn’t want to risk his life.

He still had boundless ambitions. He was the master of the fleet, and he couldn’t die here.

Even with a one in ten chance of failure, he didn’t want to risk it, let alone the high probability of defeat.

Retreat, retreat, retreat! Even if this mission failed, he couldn’t die here.

Zakaria turned and fled, without a second thought.

…

But Martins wasn’t about to let him go!

The moment Zakaria appeared, Martins knew he was his target.

He roared, and immediately strode after him.

His troops followed him swiftly.

The White Wolves remained loyal.

Even though their leader was fleeing, there was a suspicion that he was leaving them behind to take the blame. However, without hesitation, they followed Zakaria’s orders and did their best to block the human assault team’s advance.

However, their efforts were ineffective.

Martins held back, using himself as the spearhead, dispatching any enemy who stood in his way with a single strike.

In his eyes, even the Chaos Champions moved in slow motion. He had ample time and reaction time to discern his opponents’ intentions, and his powerful analytical skills allowed him to perfectly predict their next move. His vastly superior agility, unmatched strength, and the indestructible relic, the Nirvana Blade, meant he could easily annihilate anyone with a single strike.

Once Martins had slain the strongest of his opponents, the following Yulin Army and the Great Nirvana Guards were free to advance unimpeded, further shattering the gaps in the enemy’s formation.

Even if some enemies were bombarded from afar, their long-range firepower was futile.

Even if they couldn’t, Martins’s armor, crafted with the personal assistance of Gu Hang, was fully capable of withstanding attacks from ordinary weapons.

Not only Martins, but even the Yulin soldiers behind him wouldn’t be easily defeated by long-range fire.

The threat to the Great Nirvana Guards was greater.

But they also possessed ranged weapons. Even while slaughtering pigs and chickens, Martins could still find time to raise his hand. The Extermination Hand Cannon swung from his left hand could still deliver a single strike, leaving the enemy unable to dodge.

The Chaos forces also attempted to use the Warp’s sorcery to counter them.

However, behind Martins, two Unleaked Ones, accompanied by a squad of Spellbreakers, created a Warp black hole. Whether psychic energy or sorcery fell within this area, it was quelled without so much as a ripple.

Even Chaos Sorcerers, even those Warrior Sorcerers, who were targeted by them felt their connection to the Warp suddenly severed. As a result, their mutated bodies and souls, deprived of the Warp’s malignant sorcery, instantly collapsed.

The stronger ones vomited blood and collapsed, while the weaker ones’ heads exploded into shattered fragments.

Martins, leading the charge, quickly reached a point not far from Zakaria.

Zakaria glanced back and realized he couldn’t escape.

Further flight would only mean Martins’s capture and a single blow.

Gritting his teeth, he turned, drawing his weapon, determined to fight to the death.

As Martins approached, the cunning Chaos Lord prepared for a desperate charge.

But before he could do so, he activated his multiple blessed magical instruments, unleashing a vicious spell upon Martins.

The Unleaked One was unable to fully block the divine artifacts bestowed by Bassol.

The weakened magical artifacts transformed into a raging fire, engulfing Martins and the three nearest Imperial Guards.

But in the flames, the Yulin soldiers were burned and severely injured, falling to the ground, unable to move for a moment. However, Martins faced the evil fire and strode to Zakaria!

Nirvana Blade raised high, slashing down with a swift blow!
