Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 984
Chapter 975: Unexpected Reinforcements
. With Gu Jing’s help, the situation on the battlefield finally stabilized.
Magnus encountered someone capable of controlling his psychic energy.
He was forced to draw strength to deal with Gu Jing.
Meanwhile, Robert’s pressure was greatly reduced, and he was able to escape his previous predicament and advance step by step. Once
he reached Magnus, the “god-evil” was forced to draw his magic sword and engage Robert in close combat.
At this point, Magnus was no longer at an advantage.
Instead, he had to devote most of his psychic energy to fighting Gu Jing, while also focusing on close combat against Robert and his Emperor’s Sword.
In terms of swordsmanship and close combat, Magnus was objectively formidable. He could tear any Space Marine or ordinary Warp Daemon apart with his pure physical strength.
However, in a confrontation of equal caliber, his meager swordsmanship and physical prowess wouldn’t hold a candle to the competition.
Robert wasn’t the most skilled fighter among the Sons of God, but he was certainly superior to Magnus in swordsmanship. This
was especially true when Magnus’s psychic powers were being thwarted by Gu Jing.
Magnus, oppressed, roared furiously,
but to no avail.
He could find no way to reverse the situation.
And something even worse was about to happen.
In the sky, upon hearing of the Gene-Father’s bitter struggle on the ground, the warriors of the Infinite Regiment and its numerous sub-regiments aboard the expeditionary ships were utterly anxious.
They prepared for the attack as quickly as possible. Landing craft launched from the ships one after another. Some, more impatient, boarded drop pods, tracing a dazzling arc like meteors, crashing onto the lunar surface.
Drop pods were, of course, the fastest way to support the battle. These drop pods practically all crashed into the areas closest to the battlefield, sometimes even crashing directly onto the heads of the demons.
Countless those shot down mid-air, from those that did manage to land, as soon as the iron doors swung open, Space Marines, raging with rage, strode out. They fired their bolters furiously, quickly clearing the doorway to allow the other brethren inside to escape. After emptying their magazines, they didn’t even bother to reload, drawing their chainswords or power swords and slashing at the enemy.
Occasionally, a Space Marine would be overwhelmed by the sheer number of demons, but their battle-brothers would soon avenge them, and even more Space Marines would descend from the sky.
The demons, while seemingly endless in number, were primarily due to the sheer number and magnitude of the Warp rifts opened by Magnus, which had indeed allowed a significant influx of demons.
But with Gu Jing’s arrival, the situation had already changed.
Not only did he shatter numerous Warp rifts upon landing, but in the ensuing confrontation with Magnus, rifts were gradually closing one after another.
Magnus had tried his best to stop the advance, but he had to contend with Robert, wielding the Emperor’s Sword, so a complete halt was impossible.
But if that were all he did, victory wouldn’t be so easy.
Tzeentch’s scoundrels wouldn’t act rashly without assurance.
Even though Magnus wasn’t adept at considering the bigger picture, his wisdom focused more on magic, sorcery, and psychic powers, there were many among the Tzeentch who excelled in scheming and intrigue.
Through the Warp rift, Gu Jing could already smell something else—the Great Demon!
There were more than one, and they weren’t just any ordinary ones.
Behind Magnus, on the other side of the Warp rift, lay at least nine more Divine Lords, the Lord of Change!
The leader was a renowned figure, recorded in the Imperial histories as the “Fate Weaver.”
The biggest difference between it and other Changing Demon Lords is that it has two heads.
Its power alone is likely comparable to, or even greater than, that of a typical Divine Evil or Son of God.
Not to mention the other eight Divine Lords.
Any one of these Divine Lords might not be able to defeat a Son of God alone, but they could certainly cause trouble for someone of this level.
And if they were to focus their energy on slaughtering ordinary mortal soldiers or Space Marines, their effectiveness would be extremely high.
Magnus has been holding on until now, waiting for these accomplices to arrive.
It’s precisely their arrival that Gu Jing is preventing.
This is a force that could decide the outcome.
However, it’s a bit difficult.
The pit they’ve dug is too large.
If Gu Jing had arrived at the very beginning of the battle and prevented Magnus from opening so many Warp rifts, perhaps things would have been easier.
But now… although the Fateweaver can’t get in yet, a Divine Lord of Change is about to enter.
If there’s one, there’s two.
The arrival of one will provide a significant boost to Magnus, and the second one will likely follow soon.
One after another, until the Fateweavers also entered the battlefield, the situation completely collapsed.
But at this moment, the final straw that broke the camel’s back for Magnus and his many demons was the sudden arrival of two unexpected reinforcements!
The first of these unexpected reinforcements came from Holy Terra!
A force, heeding the Regent’s call and disregarding the opposition of the Holy Terran government, boarded a spacecraft and arrived in lunar orbit, then teleported to the battlefield at top speed.
They were small, only about two or three hundred men, but they brought a profound change to the battlefield.
Simply because, most of them were clad in golden armor, their figures even more majestic than those of the Space Marines.
They were the Ten Thousand Guards stationed at the Imperial Palace, the Emperor’s Guards!
The arrival of these Guardsmen ripped through the already fragmented demonic legions with overwhelming force.
Their most important goal was to deliver their black-armored comrades within the formation to Magnus and the numerous Warp rifts.
These female warriors, known as the Sisters of Silence, effectively functioned as the Unleaked, the core force of the Alliance’s Spellbreaker Legions—even more so!
In the presence of these Sisters of Silence, the power of the Warp would logically be suppressed and neutralized.
While this effect wouldn’t completely deprive Magnus of his psychic spellcasting ability, it would disrupt him enough to hasten the closing of the Warp rift.
The second force came from the Alliance’s Spellbreakers!
Once the Terran Expeditionary Force had established a firm foothold on the moon, they delivered a small Veil Gate device to the surface.
It had already been constructed, and a force of Alliance Spellbreakers had already passed through the Veil Gate and arrived at the battlefield.
Among these Spellbreakers were a full one hundred Unleaked!
Even if each Unleaked’s suppression of the Warp was slightly less effective than that of the Sisters of Silence, the sheer number was significant!
