Chapter 964, Comoros Special Administrative Region

Chapter 964:

The surrender of the Eldar in the Comoros Special Administrative Region came as a surprise to the Alliance’s frontline forces.

Just moments before, the Dark Eldar’s resistance had been quite tenacious.

The Dark Eldar’s army was a formidable foe not only for ordinary human forces, but also for the Space Marines.

The Dark Eldar’s slave cannon fodder was a somewhat easier target.

Once the Dark Eldar’s own regular forces appeared, or even some of the elite races within the xenos mercenaries—the Minotaur and Serpent-men—appeared, the situation became truly troublesome. Human forces often required several times more troops to withstand the onslaught. Even Space Marines could easily be annihilated if they were caught off guard and faced a superior enemy force in a disadvantaged position.

Compared to the previous major battles in Alliance history, the intensity of this battle almost rivaled the Battle of Ankachi. That war against the Greenskin army, arguably the most elite in the entire universe, led by the Bonebreaker King, was no more than akin to this. In fact

, the Battle of Comoros was even more brutal.

After all, compared to the two wars, the Humans deployed more troops on Comoros, the fighting was more complex, and the area affected was much larger.

The types of warfare were also very different. The great battle against the Orks on Ankachi was primarily a large-scale head-on confrontation, a field battle of armored vehicles, artillery barrages, and brutal battles for position.

But on Comoros, it was more like urban street fighting. The two sides fought repeatedly in each city and neighborhood, for a few houses and buildings. Even when buildings were demolished, the wreckage left behind became a focal point for the two sides.

Although the overall strategy seemed unstoppable, the Humans’ advance seemed unstoppable, while the Dark Eldar were being beaten back in their own homeland. But a closer look revealed a true scene of bloodshed, with every inch of land paved with the corpses of the Alliance Army’s soldiers.

Furthermore, captured areas often harbored numerous Black-skinned guerrillas and countless unexplored tunnels that could be exploited by the Skaven. These threats dealt a devastating blow to the human rear.

It wasn’t that the human occupation forces didn’t want to eliminate the remaining guerrillas and destroy the tunnels. On the contrary, the Alliance Army preferred to advance more slowly, ensuring a thorough and decisive victory. However, this inherently carried enormous risks. Nearly half of the losses were incurred in eliminating the guerrillas and destroying the tunnels.

Frontline combatants viewed the Dark Eldar as a formidable foe. While the warriors maintained high morale, confident that victory would ultimately be theirs, they also recognized that complete victory would likely come at a significant cost, requiring incremental efforts.

Suddenly, however, the command from their superiors declared victory and the Eldar surrendered.

No, the Eldar, who had been resisting fiercely just a moment ago, now surrendered?

It was a bit surreal, a bit baffling.

Regardless, for the frontline warriors, victory was a blessing.

No more fighting was needed, and the merits they were supposed to receive were all earned.

The next task for the frontline troops was to follow their superiors’ orders and collect their victories.

Eldar troops laid down their weapons in organized formations, surrendering in droves. Their locations were communicated by their superiors. When the fully armed human troops arrived at their locations, the Dark Eldar troops, or even mercenaries, had already laid down their weapons and lined up obediently, being captured en masse.

Prisoner-of-war camps had already been established, where these Dark Eldar would be temporarily held, awaiting the subsequent takeover by the Alliance government.

This is the majority scenario.

Of course, there are those who refuse to surrender.

After all, even with Mensa’s decree and the old woman’s subsequent persuasion of the Archons, there are bound to be some who refuse to surrender.

Quite a few.

Some decide to persist in the complex terrain of Comoros; others, taking advantage of the window of opportunity before the human forces have secured all key locations, flee Comoros by ship, seeking refuge in the real universe.

These individuals, combined, could account for more than a third of all Dark Eldar.

The former scenario would likely leave the Alliance vulnerable to resistance attacks for a long time to come while controlling Comoros.

The latter scenario would likely lead to even more severe pirate infestations across the universe. With worlds being conquered and pirate ports being secretly established, combined with the combined forces of human rebels, alien forces, and Chaos factions, and the Dark Eldar’s technological prowess and manpower, the consequences could be serious. In short,

it’s a serious problem.

Even if the Dark Eldar were destroyed, surrendered, and their remnants shattered to pieces, the impact would undoubtedly be immense, demonstrating the final strength of this once dominant power, which had existed for countless millennia.

However, these situations can be managed.

The Dark Eldar resistance in Comoros can be dealt with by the Dark Eldar themselves. They have numerous connections, and perhaps some sympathizers could act as spies on the human side. But overall, there are undoubtedly genuine surrenderers who could provide intelligence and betray the resistance. Furthermore, these surrendered Dark Eldar could form a mopping-up force, turning the tables on themselves.

The same applies to the future risk of piracy.

None of these matters outweigh the Alliance’s current definitive control of the entire Comoros.

After Comoros’s complete surrender, the Alliance’s Central Front established a presence there.

On the one hand, they can suppress Comoros, eliminate the resistance, and deter the surrenderers from further agitation.

On the other hand, the Central Front’s presence in Comoros is inherently beneficial. Through the numerous ports and Veil Gates in Comoros, they can quickly travel to various locations throughout the universe, supporting battles in all directions, truly fulfilling the Central Army’s original duty of “guarding the center and supporting all directions.”

The Alliance government has also established the “Comoros Special Administrative Region” here. Its administrative standards are quite high, equivalent to the level of a Alliance space government. In the future, the main responsibilities of this special administrative region will be to manage the Eldar, utilize Eldar technology to develop the special administrative region, maintain all Veil Ports, and support the Alliance’s use of the special administrative region ports for military and commercial operations.
