Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 968
Chapter 959, Expelling the Evil God
Chapter 959:
The cracks in the veil that exorcises the evil gods gradually healed, causing one being to become anxious.
Gu Hang was a little nervous. Victor
had summoned the Como Sword, which had the power to shatter the void, somewhat exceeding his expectations. By the time the veil’s spatial barriers had cracked and threatened to collapse, Gu Hang had immediately dealt with them.
However, it took a bit of effort to deal with the sword.
The cracks in the spatial barrier were already a fait accompli, inevitably attracting the attention of Slaanesh.
Gu Hang had no desire to confront Slaanesh head-on at this stage. The
risks were too high.
Regardless of whether Gu Hang had reached the same level as the four evil gods, even if he had, a direct confrontation would be uneconomical.
Furthermore, he had no confidence at all.
If he were to stay in the Storm Kingdom, in his own lair, perhaps things would be better.
Even if he couldn’t win, at least he couldn’t lose.
And as long as he didn’t suffer a crushing defeat, everything would be manageable. After all, Gu Hang had a powerful external supporter. If a certain evil god truly attacked him recklessly, that being would surely not stand idly by.
But in Comoros, outside his own lair, he had lost all confidence.
However, even if he lacked confidence, he couldn’t just sit there and do nothing.
He stretched out his hand, and a seemingly ordinary lightning spear gathered in his grasp.
A moment later, the lightning spear was swung out violently. While the rift was still being flattened, it rushed into the waves of the Warp in the blink of an eye, sweeping out a concentrated vortex.
After the attack, even Gu Hang was slightly breathless.
But it didn’t matter. When the lustful prince’s vicious curse suddenly stopped, Gu Hang smiled.
At least it could delay him for a while.
Just a little time was enough.
The newly repaired rift, from its fragile and unstable state, was restored to its original state in a moment.
Slaanesh hadn’t arrived.
This was excellent news.
As long as the veil didn’t crumble, and Slaanesh’s demonic forces couldn’t find their way through the gaps, Gu Hang’s mission was complete.
His figure gradually faded, like ink in water, vanishing completely from the center of the battlefield.
In the distance, twelve psionic masters, wearing psychic crowns and protecting a massive crown in their center, collapsed to the ground. Half of them were unconscious, and the other half suffered from splitting headaches, but each of them shone with shock and surprise.
They were shocked by the incomprehensible battle they witnessed, a battle of divine proportions.
They were delighted by this moment of personal observation, perhaps a realization that would benefit them for the rest of their lives.
However, that was only if they recovered from the losses they had suffered.
…
The war in Comoros hadn’t subsided.
The sudden resurgence of hostilities clearly reflected the Dark Eldar’s unwillingness to give up.
Even if Viktor died, the elite Eldar force he led, attacking the Queen’s Rose Harbor, would be buried with him. But after the initial chaos, the Eldar quickly elected a new leader—Malachai, Archon of the Shadow Eater Clan—to lead them in the fight.
However, a crucial problem remained.
Even though the Dark Eldar appeared resolute in their fight, the sudden loss of their supreme commander meant that even with a replacement, the chain of command would not be easily reorganized. They were already engaged in a ferocious, desperate offensive. Due to the disorganized command structure, their offensive was poorly coordinated,
and they were being counterattacked by the humans.
By this point, the situation had become dire.
It’s important to remember that the human forces facing them were not on the defensive.
By mistake, the human side’s pre-war deployment was entirely on the offensive.
However, once the Blacks’ overall offensive momentum was repelled, the human offensive became unstoppable.
Vast swathes of urban areas, lacking defenders, were captured by human forces, solidifying into defensive lines. Previously fragile strips of occupied territory expanded significantly, becoming more defensible once connected.
The Blacks had already recaptured six of the eight concession ports, but after their overall offensive collapsed, they were recaptured one by one over the next two weeks.
The most dangerous period had passed.
Humanity hadn’t been destroyed immediately after the Terran Expeditionary Force’s departure, before new reinforcements arrived.
Now it was the Alliance’s turn.
And it would always be the Humans’ turn.
The battle between Gu Hang and Victor had severely damaged Queen Rose Port. However, with the Reception Building intact, the energy reserves intact, and the Veil Spirit Gate intact, troops continued to flow in waves. The only problem was that until the ports were repaired, access was a bit difficult, slowing efficiency.
However, with the start of the war, the eight occupied concession ports, freed from the constraints of these shoddy treaties, began pumping in troops at full capacity.
In just one month, the Alliance’s Central Front had infused over 80% of its total strength.
This surpassed the Humans’ peak strength during the first phase of the Comoros War.
Building on this strength, the Human army launched a full-scale offensive,
steadily suppressing the Dark Eldar.
Victory can mask many problems, but conversely, defeat can only exacerbate them.
Malachai, hastily ascended to power, lacked the prestige and power to dominate all internal forces compared to Viktor. Even his ability to coordinate and manage internal affairs was far inferior to Viktor’s.
He was unfit to lead an entire race.
A series of defeats shattered his already fragile prestige. The Dark Eldar factions had no faith that under his leadership, they could pull off the comeback that even Viktor had failed to achieve.
Realizing the precarious situation, Malachai launched an unsuccessful internal purge.
His failure was due to the fact that while he eliminated some opponents, he only stirred up more.
An assassination attempt killed him in office.
Then, during the war, the Dark Eldar couldn’t even choose a new leader.
For a time, the various Dark Eldar factions operated independently.
Some resisted, only to be severely defeated by the humans; some conserved their strength and shirked their duties on the battlefield, which meant surrendering several strategic points; and some advocated for further peace talks, which the Alliance ignored.
Even a strategy that had worked so well in the previous war was no longer effective.
They dispatched raiding fleets to the real universe, attempting to replicate the route that had previously devastated the Alliance’s heartland.
However, the Alliance, having suffered losses before, was deeply wary. They would rather temporarily halt their Dark Side expeditions than withdraw a large number of high-speed vessels to form a “hunter fleet” specifically to counter Dark Eldar raids.
The difficulty of destroying planets in the Alliance’s heartland suddenly increased significantly.
Furthermore, the Dark Eldar’s most capable raiding commander, Ishara, the former Archon of the Dusk Fang, was betrayed by their own hands. He was hanged on the spot during the signing of the previous “toilet paper” agreement, and his soul could never be recovered.
With the loss of this outstanding commander, the threat posed by the raiding fleet had already been greatly reduced.
Furthermore, with the Dark Eldar internal chaos, support for the raiding fleet was insufficient. Some surrenderists, eager for peace talks, even betrayed the coordinates of the Dark Eldar Veil Gate in the real universe in order to slow down the Alliance’s offensive against their territory.
All these factors combined to weaken the Dark Eldar’s most threatening destructive actions.
At this point, even if the war wasn’t over, what good would it do?
They were completely finished.
Against this backdrop, Gu Hang heard that a Dark Eldar leader, who was thought to have been purged by Victor, had suddenly returned.
It was the old woman.
