Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 951
Chapter 942, Refreshing Cognition
. Bilson’s question wasn’t difficult to answer.
The gap between Space Marines, if anything, might even be greater than the gap between Space Marines and ordinary mortals.
The Infant Archons are nothing more than a typical Infinite Descent Chapter, nothing special.
Perhaps by Gu Hang’s standards, next year’s gene-seed will be the most common, “inferior” seed.
And what about the Dawnbringers? All members are “Glory” level one seeds, all have undergone Blessed Child training, and all are in Gu Hang’s Space Marine training panel. He has pushed everyone’s training level as high as possible, resulting in a company champion percentage of nearly 20%.
Furthermore, using the Hero interface to inspire the Chapter’s heroes, this has directly brought the number of Chapter champions to around 1%.
To put it bluntly, in a fair fight in an arena or a colosseum, a single company of Dawnbringers could annihilate the entire Infant Archons, with their own casualties exceeding 40%.
That’s an enormous disparity.
While the Dawnbringer’s Second Company dealt with the threat from the flank, the main Dawnbringer force moved at top speed towards the target warehouse.
Leading the charge was the Dawnbringer’s Seventh Company. Riding their ultra-fast hoverbikes, they charged forward at breakneck speed, reaching their target the fastest.
Hoverbikes are certainly fast, but they certainly can’t carry particularly heavy firepower. However, the Dawnbringer’s combat prowess alone was quite impressive.
Their combat prowess was exceptional, and more importantly, their speed had its value.
Without the speed of their assault bikes, the warehouse’s defenders might have been able to destroy the vital equipment within.
After the Nightmare Squad, whom they had placed high hopes on on their flank, was eliminated, they abandoned their hopes and prepared to withdraw. Before leaving, they had to destroy the warehouse’s contents to prevent any damage from their enemies.
But the Dawnbringer’s motorcycle company was too fast.
Besides being fast, they were also exceptionally courageous.
They simply ignored the enemy forces blocking the perimeter, blasted a hole through the warehouse wall, and charged straight inside.
Anyone else would have been reckless. Were the Dark Eldar’s outer defenses so easily overlooked? A simple force attempting a forced breakthrough would likely be met by full-scale firepower, suffering heavy losses.
However, the Dawnbringer’s rapid assault company demonstrated exceptional skill and daring.
Not only did they incur minimal casualties during the assault, they even managed to disrupt the enemy’s defenses.
Once inside, they eliminated those intent on destroying the goods, and then the entire company held their ground.
The enemy counterattack grew increasingly powerful, with each wave attempting to plant a massive bomb, blasting the entire warehouse and its occupants into the air. However, they were ultimately thwarted by a Dawnbringer tactical squad.
And when Ji Hao arrived with his large force, the enemy’s counterattack was quickly suppressed.
Precious materials for the construction of the Veil Spirit Gate were transported from the warehouse. The entire Chapter protected these materials and quickly retreated to Queen Rose Harbor.
During this process, the Darkskins seemed to realize the severity of the situation. They dispatched a powerful force to attempt to recapture or destroy the vital materials and equipment controlled by humans.
This force directly included a thousand-man Nightmare Squad. While not a unit with short-range teleportation like the Executioner, the regular Nightmare Warriors were more powerful in frontal combat than the specialized Executioner.
Furthermore, among them were executioners. There were
also numerous Warp Spider warriors—masterpieces of the Haemonchi. These Dark Eldar’s most accomplished genetic engineers had stitched together creatures, even Dark Eldar warriors themselves, with the Warp Spider, a species native to the Veil that possessed short-distance teleportation. These creatures, formed from spiders, were even more powerful than Nightmare Executioners, thanks to their more flexible and adaptable teleportation methods. They were also larger than Terminators and only slightly smaller than Dreadnoughts. And then there were the
Shrieking Banshees—a highly agile Dark Eldar aerial elite unit capable of heavy firepower, hovering and swooping in mid-air, as well as diving attacks.
In short, a variety of elite Dark Eldar units began to appear in droves. Bjergsen, Captain of the Infant Archons
, who was accompanying the Dawnbringers, watched with near-numbness.
He had seen these elite units before, or at least heard of them. However, this was the first time he had seen them in such large numbers.
Observing the combat prowess of these dark-skinned units, he had a completely new appreciation for this race that had survived a catastrophe, yet survived to this day, living as flies every day, yet still remained undestroyed.
They must have a profound foundation and were immensely powerful.
Undoubtedly, were it his Chapter, even at its peak, fully staffed, they would not have been able to carry out this mission, surely overwhelmed and utterly annihilated by the sheer number of powerful Dark Eldar units.
However, the individual strength displayed by these gold-and-white Dawnbringers was truly formidable. It
was astonishingly powerful.
It made him wonder when the descendants of the Saints would ever reach such prowess.
Speaking of which, the Infinite Legion and the Saints Legion had a feud and grudge dating back to the Legion Era, ten thousand years ago. Although they later became loyal members of the Imperium, historical issues kept their relationship strained, avoiding collaboration whenever possible. When circumstances forced them to fight together, they often operated independently, without any subordinate relationship.
To be more specific, the descendants of the Saints generally viewed the Infinite Legion as “enemies.” After all, the previous feud that nearly led to war between the two factions stemmed from the Infinite Legion accepting the Emperor’s mission to punish the Saints, acting as “executioners” and destroying their once glorious and proud “perfect world.”
Meanwhile, the descendants of the Infinite Warriors generally viewed the Saints with contempt, believing them to be too fanatical, irrational, and unreliable.
But today, Bjergsen, an Infinite Legionary, significantly changed their perception.
The descendants of the Saints were formidable.
It seemed as if every one of them was the elite “Invincible Army” of the parent Legion.
The problem was, even within the parent Legion, the Infinite Legion only had a single company of Invincible Army! Back in
the Legion era, only a single company could be produced—the equivalent of an entire Chapter’s Invincible Army today.
And this random Chapter, founded less than twenty years ago, could boast such prowess?
Bjergsen was completely numb.
But generally speaking, it’s definitely a good thing to have such comrades.
At least, this very important mission has finally been completed.
