Chapter 941: Such a big gap

. Bilson’s doubts were answered by the Dawn Messengers.

“Please trust us, we are enough.”

The Dawn Messengers’ words were absurd.

What do you mean by enough? How could you believe it?

Have you ever encountered enemies like this?

We have faced them directly, suffered losses, and fought them face to face. We told you that the enemy is difficult and requires strong support, and yet you just ignore it?

No, what’s going on!

He was almost furious.

However, what happened next suddenly and drastically changed his view.

The Dawn Messengers arrived, and after merely informing them, they quickly launched an attack on the enemy.

There were no special preparations, just relatively conventional tactics. At most, everyone put away their ranged weapons and focused on melee weapons and close combat methods, charging forward.

It would be no problem to deal with ordinary enemies.

Most of the Dark Eldar’s long-range fire missed, and even the few that did hit were easily thwarted by the protective effects of their power armor. Even the fire that did hit was mostly because they judged it safe to withstand. The Dawnbringers weren’t deliberately taking the hits; they were simply selectively dodging, taking the damage they wouldn’t have caused, to avoid potentially fatal blows. Bilson saw

nothing unusual in this scene.

While the Dawnbringers seemed to charge quickly and dodge fire with skill, so what?

The Nightmare Executioners posed the greatest threat, and that threat remained unaddressed.

Bilson was growing increasingly anxious, but what else could he do? Before the Dawnbringers arrived, he had already informed them of the Nightmare Executioners’ characteristics and threat.

If the Dawnbringers didn’t take it seriously, what could he do?

He had no intention of watching the Dawnbringers suffer a setback and then gloatingly saying, “Who told you not to listen to me?”

Though angry, he was fighting for humanity, and he didn’t want to witness the neighboring regiment suddenly suffer heavy casualties. That would obviously make the situation even worse.

Furious and helpless, he could only order his troops to maintain a tight defensive formation, making it difficult for teleporters to attack, and to provide long-range fire support for the Dawnbringers with bolters, plasma rifles, and other weapons.

However, this obviously limited the impact of the dozens of Holy Infant Archons on the battle. Long-range firepower wasn’t completely useless, but it certainly wasn’t a significant help.

Ultimately, the outcome depended on the Dawnbringers’ own performance.

As the Dawnbringers’ Second Company collided with the enemy, blades clashing and battle erupting, the scene Bilson least expected to see unfolded. The Nightmare Executioners, hidden within the ranks of the Black Leather troops, appeared silently, colorlessly, and like smoke and mist, behind the Dawnbringers.

The Nightmare Executioners, their scimitars, imbued with the artistic flair of the Dark Eldar, suddenly brought down.

But what happened next stunned Bilson.

What he had expected, and what had happened to his own warriors—those decapitated heads—none of them occurred.

During the surprise attack, only two Dawnbringers were either unable to react in time or, perhaps because the attackers were exceptionally powerful, unable to resist, their helmets and heads fell to the ground, fatally wounded. But the rest reacted quickly, and many swiftly launched counterattacks!

This was a stark contrast to the Holy Child Archon’s fate!

While some of Bilson and his warriors did react, and he himself even counterattacked and killed the Nightmare Executioners who had attacked him, half of them barely reacted and were lucky to survive, sometimes suffering serious injuries. Another half, nearly twenty Battle Brothers, were instantly killed.

The Dawnbringers’ ratio was completely different!

Was this because the Dawnbringers had been prepared and heeded his warning?

Yes, but it was more than that.

Otherwise, Bilson wouldn’t have been so fearful of the Nightmare Executioners.

Even with advance preparation, the Nightmare Executioners arrived too quickly and unexpectedly. They were also incredibly powerful warriors, no less capable than, and even stronger than, veteran Space Marines in direct combat. The

Dawnbringers surprisingly only lost two!

In fact, their subsequent counterattacks and counterattacks resulted in the deaths of over twenty Nightmare Executioners!

The remaining Dawnbringers didn’t even dare to continue fighting the Dawnbringers, instead hastily activating their short-distance teleportation and fleeing.

The Dawnbringers remained unfazed. They continued their planned slaughter of the remaining Dark Eldar forces.

Even the Nightmare Executioners were no match for the Dawnbringers, let alone these ordinary Dark Eldar troops.

As the Dark Eldar forces were rapidly decimated, the Nightmare Executioners could no longer hide in the crowd.

Their short-distance teleportation wasn’t designed for continuous use; otherwise, their strength would be far greater than it currently was.

Short-distance teleportation could serve as a means of attack, like smoke and fog, but it was hardly a means of long-distance escape.

Ultimately, fewer than ten Nightmare Executioners managed to escape through various means. The rest were completely slaughtered.

After annihilating the fifty-man Nightmare Executioner squad, and also annihilating the entire garrison lured from the target warehouse to assist them, the Dawnbringers suffered only eleven lives.

The assistance of the Holy Infant Archons cannot be completely ignored. Their advance intelligence and the pursuit after the Nightmare Squad’s threat was neutralized also played a role,

but only a small one.

Captain Bilson himself knew that the victory was entirely due to the Dawnbringers’ exceptional strength.

By now, he had a clear understanding. The Dawnbringers’ high chance of survival, and even counterattack, from the Nightmare Executioners’ sudden attacks was not due to any special methods or tactics, but simply due to their individual strength!

If it was just the sudden attack of that wave of Nightmare Executioners, it would not be clear, or we could deceive ourselves and wonder if there might be a special way to deal with it. However, after several waves of confrontations, and watching the Dawnbringers slaughtering those Dark Eldars in close combat, we can tell that this is indeed a gap in strength.

They are all Space Marines, so why is the gap so big?

Bilson fell into deep doubt.

Especially in the communication after the battle, he learned that the entire Dawnbringers Chapter was established less than 20 years ago; and when the Battle of Comoros was the first major war they participated in, the self-doubt became even greater.

We fought for so many years before…how come we are not as good as a group of fledgling new chapters?
