Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 946
Chapter 937: Bloody Battle in Comoros
of Comoros. This scene was unprecedented.
Humanity’s ships, having received their guidance, advanced towards their intended destination. Beyond the observation windows of each vessel, a vast, imposing city could be seen.
Many people’s concept of a “city” is essentially a “hive city.” Such a vast, three-dimensional city, often housing over a billion people, is enough to stir and awe even from the distance.
Those fortunate enough to have visited Holy Terra have witnessed its hive city cluster, the largest in the entire human empire, covering nearly the entire surface of the human homeworld.
However, the comparison to what was happening now was difficult.
After all, the human homeworld itself was also built on a single planet, and everyone had seen many planets viewed from the sky.
However, a hive city cluster comparable in size to Holy Terra, towering in the void, before the entire fleet, was a completely different sight.
The entire fleet seemed dwarfed by the massive, Dark Eldar-style Void city.
Even the knowledgeable Robert was seeing nothing like it.
Comoros lived up to its reputation.
But there was no admiration in his eyes.
Under his command, the human fleet advanced swiftly, their target clear—a Veil Port.
There were many such ports in Comoros, but this one was carefully selected by Gu Hang based on intelligence provided by the Storm Elves. He considered a variety of factors, including size, defense level, and enemy support availability, choosing a location that was both relatively easy to capture and would yield the greatest rewards.
It was called Queen’s Rose Port.
By this time, the guards there had sensed that the humans were targeting them.
They urgently prepared for battle.
However…
to be honest, they had a plan for an attack.
To maintain secrecy, the Dark Witch King, Victor, who personally orchestrated the operation, had initially withheld notification from a wider audience. After the operation began, a warning was issued, urging all parties to prepare for the impending arrival of a human army on Comoros.
But honestly, most of the plans focused on an active offensive.
After all, the Darks believed that any “guests” pulled into the Veil were lambs to the slaughter.
They weren’t slaughtered outside because the great Eldar couldn’t easily deploy their forces outside of Comoros—in fact, it was inconvenient to fight in the Warp.
But bringing the main battleground back to Comoros would be a different story. The Eldar’s full might would be unleashed, and the enemy would be thrown into panic.
Ultimately, all of them would become new slaves of Comoros.
It was rumored that among these “slaves” were numerous human Space Marines.
These were rare species! Worth collecting and cherishing.
As for Comoros being attacked in return by these prey?
That was ridiculous, impossible!
Yet, this very scenario was unfolding before their very eyes.
Their original plan was to quickly entangle the Human fleet with their existing forces after drawing it into Comoros. Then, a steady stream of reinforcements would arrive from Comoros, completely destroying the Human resistance.
However, things went awry from the very beginning.
During the construction of the Warp array, one factor went beyond their expectations: a significant number of nodes were destroyed.
While their plan ultimately succeeded, and the Human fleet was indeed drawn in, each of those nodes, lost during the previous battle, represented the best of the Dark Eldar forces.
Their losses were greater than anticipated.
This triggered a chain reaction: just as they had drawn the Human fleet into Comoros, the remaining forces were insufficient to completely entangle the fleet and await further reinforcements.
They were forced to withdraw, returning to Comoros to prepare for the next offensive.
This gave the Human fleet an opportunity to launch a counterattack.
Even the Dark Witch King, Victor, could not help but marvel at the so-called ‘Son of God,’ the ‘One Who Decides the Fate of the Eldar’!
An ordinary person, faced with such a drastic change, would have been in a state of panic. However, Robert was able to instantly reorganize the fleet, calm morale, and launch the attack.
This was no mean feat.
Even more remarkable was his accurate judgment, finding Queen Rose Harbor.
Combined, it was the most effective target.
Why?
Victor, while deploying his troops, devoted a small portion of his attention to this matter.
He finally dialed the number of his personal guards, the Nightmare Regiment.
“…Focus on investigating the old woman.”
…
Gu Jing fired a psychic cannon at a defensive turret. The powerful psychic force instantly destroyed it. The dark-skinned soldier operating the turret was naturally engulfed in blood and blood, and the sharp corners of the turret were bent, the very generator of the Eldar artillery fire.
Then, with supreme power, he seized a swift assault craft that had already killed several Space Marines by storming forward. It was instantly unable to move, as if seized by an invisible hand, and slammed into the bunker of a squadron of alien mercenaries. Immediately afterwards, the human soldiers attacking that position launched a valiant charge, seizing it and using it as a new stronghold to continue their assault.
Behind him, the phantom of a great demon with a bird’s head, golden feathers, and blue flames spread its wings recklessly, assisting Gu Jing in unleashing his full psychic power.
Its core function was to amplify the power of any psychic spell Gu Jing cast, and it could also simultaneously act as the initiator of another psychic spell, performing dual casting.
From the wings of the great demon’s phantom, clusters of azure spiritual fire traced elusive arcs in the air, targeting enemy after enemy and blasting them to death.
Gu Jing’s display of divine power had a profound impact on the battlefield.
In the past, while many high-ranking members of the expeditionary force were aware of Gu Jing’s power and his ability to command a purified great demon, he rarely unleashed this might to its full potential.
For one thing, it was both tiring and dangerous. On the battlefield, swords and spears were merciless, and even the strongest could fall. Saving energy and maintaining safety meant there was no need to charge too aggressively.
Another, more important reason was that this power was somewhat taboo. His special status forced many to endure it, but there was no need to act in their presence unless absolutely necessary.
But today was different.
This battle was of immense importance.
Even as an advisor and guest of the expeditionary force, Gu Jing couldn’t afford to hold back.
Not only him, but the masters of the entire expeditionary force were now fighting diligently on the front lines.
Nero, Chapter Master of the Infinite Chapter, led his personal guards in the most challenging battles; Talliot channeled his power as a top-tier S-class psyker to aid the Chapter’s advance. Masters from the various Infinite Chapters, responding to the Gene-Father’s call, also fought valiantly.
All of this stemmed from his Gene-Father, the true Son of God, Robert himself, who was wielding the Emperor’s Sword and fighting on the front lines.
Not too far away, the Human Expeditionary Force’s fleet was unleashing a frenzied barrage, bombarding the Queen Rose Harbor and its surrounding areas. They were destroying the enemy’s core defenses while simultaneously blocking reinforcements.
Of course, such close-quarters support came at a price. Although Comoros had not faced an enemy attack of this magnitude in ages, the Dark Eldar had never relaxed their defenses of their home base. This race, perpetually threatened by extinction, was far from ready to perish in peace.
Their resistance was resolute and unyielding. Even if only a fraction of the Comorian firepower, due to limited angles and the Human fleet’s attack zone, could be effective, it still posed a formidable threat.
One human warship after another was reduced to scrap metal.
Meanwhile, assault craft, fighter planes, and warships, dispatched from other Comorian ports, poured in to support the battlefield. A crucial task for the Human fleet was to intercept these enemies.
The Glorious Queen-class battleship, inherited from the Infinite Legion ten thousand years ago, served as the flagship and backbone of the fleet, fulfilling this very task.
The Glorious Queen bore many scars. Its powerful void shield had been destroyed and reactivated twice. But despite such a perilous situation, these precious warships refused to retreat. Simply because their leader, their Son of God, had given the order, they stood firm on the front lines, using their mighty bodies and incomparably sharp firepower to hold the line against the human fleet.
Yet, Gu Jing still harbored a twinge of worry. He could see that while this wave of human attack had come suddenly and fiercely, severely suppressing the Dark Eldar fighting on their home turf, it
was merely a fleeting moment, a final frenzy.
The human expeditionary force, without backup, without personnel or supplies, relied solely on this single, overwhelming offensive. If they failed to capture it, the climax of the battle would be the demise of the entire fleet in a matter of seconds.
He gathered his mind, and there was no point in worrying about these things.
For now, the only thing was to fight!
He continued to mobilize his psychic energy, and this time, his target was clearly chosen: the Veil Reception Building at Queen Rose Harbor!
This building was the core strategic objective, as Gu Jing had heard from his father’s whispers, and it was the target he must capture. Only by utilizing the Eldar technology within this building could the Veil Gate connecting to the real universe be deployed.
It had already been conquered. The enemy was launching a frenzied counterattack, and Gu Jing’s psychic powers were crucial in suppressing it.
Even with his full firepower, he faced a challenge. Among the enemy were powerful, high-level units—great witch spirits, abominable flesh-creatures, and exceptionally powerful individuals from the alien races employed by the Dark Eldar—all of them were incredibly difficult to kill. Leaving them behind would severely strain the human defenses.
He would have to expend considerable energy to eliminate them one by one.
In the process, his conspicuous fighting style naturally made him a prime target.
The constant barrage, the onslaught of heavily armored units, and the swift attacks from assault craft all forced him to contend with them.
Even he was gradually feeling overwhelmed, and inevitably a wave of anxiety.
“Hurry…”
Within the Reception Tower, already captured by human forces, the Mechanicus Magi and scholars of the Order of Psionics, led by Archmagos Cawl, worked together to decipher Eldar technology.
Inquisitors diligently sought information from prisoners captured on the battlefield to aid the Archmagos in their efforts.
However, humanity still encountered numerous challenges in deciphering the Veil Gate, the Dark Eldar’s most advanced technology.
Even with the presence of the Eldar Archangel, Maeve Nel, it proved difficult.
The Ark Eldar had some understanding of their dark kin’s technology, but their approaches were not identical, and at best, they could only provide assistance, not a direct solution.
The Archmagos kept insisting that he needed more time and more information, and urged all forces to diligently pursue his efforts.
Robert calmly issued one order after another, ensuring the troops would remain unshaken amidst the Dark Eldar’s devastating counterattack.
However, the situation continued to worsen.
By now, some units were reporting that they had expended their last bullets, bayonets drawn, and were awaiting the enemy’s arrival for a decisive battle. Within two minutes, this unit had no further information to report back.
Meanwhile, Gu Jing suddenly spotted a unique “enemy” approaching.
They were a swarm of energy creatures, radiating electrical currents. They seemed to be being driven by a group of Dark Eldar vanguards, poised to launch another assault on the Reception Building.
Gu Jing sensed a familiar power within these energy creatures.
Could it be…?
With a fleeting thought, his psychic energy roared out, sending blue fireballs the size of human heads blasting into the enemy formation, deliberately avoiding the energy creatures.
Just as the Eldar vanguards who commanded them were blown unconscious, these energy creatures, all covered in electrical discharges, suddenly turned against them and attacked the Eldar allies around them!
