Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 943
Chapter 935, City of Curtain
The Dark Elves of the City of Veil had a strange strategy.
They spread out, completely surrounding the battlefield. This wasn’t motivated by military considerations, nor did they intend to take advantage of the situation.
They simply wanted to deploy a magical circle while the human expeditionary force was preoccupied with dealing with the invading demonic forces.
Within the encirclement, each Dark Elf ship served as a node in the circle.
Once the circle was fully deployed, the entire area within their encirclement would be cut off, separated from the Warp and pulled into the Veil of reality.
That was the gap between the Warp and the real universe, home to the Dark Elves’ homeworld, Comoros.
In the Warp, the Dark Elves would struggle to muster the strength to directly defeat the human expeditionary force. But within their homeworld, the situation was different. They had many more options.
While the Dark Elves’ native population might not be sufficient, their long-standing piracy and countless slaves plundered from other races make for excellent cannon fodder. With these slaves, even the Dark Eldar can employ a human wave strategy!
That’s if the battle takes place in Comoros.
They’re doing just that now.
Robert, his face weary, held a resolute gaze.
He no longer worried about the reliability of his intelligence.
Throughout the Terran expedition, the two psychic masters, Theriot and Gu Jing, had provided countless insights and helped the expedition overcome numerous difficulties. Robert trusted them deeply. While he was undoubtedly the undisputed core of the expedition, the assistance of the two psychic masters was crucial.
He issued command after command in a methodical manner.
The entire fleet began to accelerate. The Infinite Chapter and its numerous sub-companies, abandoning their previously conservative, low-cost tactics, became more aggressive. The Grey Knights launched, targeting key demon units and striking decisive blows.
At the same time, a significant number of fleet forces quickly regrouped and reversed course, forming several spearheads in the blink of an eye.
The seemingly sluggish, aged, and exhausted from the long expedition, the human fleet suddenly became a force to be reckoned with!
It was like a long-forgotten engine, yet its interior remained intact. With a single stroke of oil and command, the roar of its blast was still deafening!
While the human army dealt with the demons, they were still able to mobilize multiple forces, targeting key nodes in the Dark Elf’s spatial slicing array.
The Dark Elf fleet was too dispersed, and the forces at each node were insufficient. While the humans also had to deal with the demons and were operating in separate forces, they were still too concentrated compared to the Dark Elf forces, who had to maintain the entire massive array.
However, Gu Jing and Theriault remained concerned.
They raised a significant issue with the Son of God: the Dark Elf’s spatial slicing array didn’t require every node to be protected to be effective. Within the limited timeframe, a certain number of nodes must be destroyed; otherwise, the final outcome would remain unchanged, and the formation would remain in effect.
The Son of God nodded, indicating understanding, but remained unmoved.
He patiently explained and reasoned:
Ever since the Dark Elf fleet appeared, he had been observing and analyzing these uninvited guests. He had a clear understanding of their deployment.
Furthermore, he had a firm grasp of his own forces.
Before the battle began, he had determined that an all-out attack, splitting the fleet like the Dark Elfs and attacking every node simultaneously, would be possible, and while the losses would be negligible, the time required would also be considerable. This
was because the pressure on each node would be greatly reduced, and while the Dark Elfs held their ground, the rate at which nodes could be destroyed would increase dramatically.
The human side would have to fight for quite some time to eliminate all the nodes.
Robert calculated that if they continued the battle in that manner, it would take them thirty-nine hours to destroy all the nodes.
But therein lay a contradiction—according to Gu Jing and Theriault’s analysis, the dark elves could complete their formation in under eight hours.
This difference of nearly five times the time was insurmountable.
Fortunately, however, success didn’t require the complete destruction of all the formation’s nodes, effectively wiping out the entire Dark Elf army.
As long as enough nodes were destroyed within those eight hours, the entire Dark Elf formation would collapse.
The problem was, even Gu Jing and Theriault couldn’t determine the critical point at which the Dark Elf formation would collapse.
So what could Robert do?
He could only adopt a tactical plan that would destroy enough nodes within eight hours.
And that was exactly what he was doing.
The human fleet, united as a dozen fists, destroyed a dozen nodes with overwhelming force. Then, they immediately divided their forces, attacking the surrounding areas from the captured nodes.
Robert carefully calculated each target. As long as they could be captured within the allotted timeframe, he could quickly deploy his forces elsewhere, achieving the most efficient destruction of the Dark Elf nodes.
Since he didn’t know exactly how many nodes he needed to destroy, he simply stuck to the eight-hour limit and attacked as many as possible.
However, the final results weren’t encouraging.
By the seventh hour, the human fleet had destroyed sixty-one nodes, roughly one-sixth of all Dark Elf formation nodes.
Yet, the formation was still successfully activated, an hour ahead of Gu Jing and Theriault’s estimates.
Robert, clad in the Armor of Destiny and wielding the Emperor’s Sword, witnessed this scene as he pulled the blade from the chest of a Dark Elf Archon .
It seemed as if nothing could move this renowned Son of God, not even this.
From the observation window of the enemy ship he had boarded, he watched as an entire section of the Warp was being ripped apart.
It was as if a vast membrane enveloped the battlefield between humans and demons, as well as the Dark Elf nodes and the destroyed nodes.
Then, the membrane expanded violently in both directions, and the area they were in was cut open.
This was just an insignificant area for the warp, which was as vast and boundless as the universe, but it was enough to envelop the entire human expeditionary force, including the elite army of the dark elves.
The cut area quickly collapsed inward, and Robert saw the bizarre scene outside the window changing rapidly, and the entire ship was shaking.
By the time people were able to stand firm again, the scenery outside had completely changed.
It was no longer the ominous, colorful appearance of the warp, but a peaceful black and blue.
In the dim light, a magnificent building complex full of various towers could be seen in the distance.
That should be the nest of the Dark Eldar, the City of Veil – Comoros.
