Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 899
Chapter 892: Resurrection of the Son of God (Part 2)
“Life support protocols have been activated.”
Cawl’s voice, like a warning, was heard by many.
The Armor of Destiny, already primed and activated, was lifted by a mechanical arm and placed before the stasis field, ready to be placed upon the Son of God.
At this crucial moment, even Chaos seemed to realize that success or failure depended on this single blow. Furiously, they poured forth even greater might, determined to end this battle and utterly smother the Son of the Emperor.
Several powerful Chaos Champions roared upon the battlefield.
Estella intercepted one, and the Holy Flame Greatsword collided with its Power Claws, unleashing a blinding burst of flame.
The holy flames, ignited by this clash, threatened to engulf the Chaos Champion, but the opponent was no less powerful. A pitch-black demonic aura clashed with the Living Saint, leaving even the wings of the living saint slightly scorched by the corrupted energy.
Grand Master Changtin of the Grey Knights pierced another Chaos Champion’s chest with his Nemesis Halberd, only to see him smirk, “The Prince of Pleasure greets you!”
His body, blessed by Slaanesh, suddenly exploded, and from the pink, poisonous mist emerged the phantoms of six Secret Keeper Archdaemons, their serpentine tails entwining themselves around the Grand Master of the Grey Knights.
These weren’t actual Archdaemons, of course, but mere projections; yet the Archdaemons were giving it their all, and these phantoms possessed at least 60-70% of their true strength.
Entangled, the Grand Master was instantly in danger.
Nero was also under attack from two Chaos Champions, and with the addition of a bloodthirsty daemon already engaged, even the Infinite Chapter Master, a supremely Chosen Champion, was temporarily unable to free himself.
More demons appeared, this new batch targeting the Son of God within the stasis field.
All they needed to do was destroy the stasis field, and their goal would be achieved.
Maeve Nil also intended to do the same.
While their goals appeared to be aligned, in reality, Maeve Nil would not allow the demons to succeed.
It must be she who “kills” the Son of God, and it must be the Goddess’ Sword in her hand.
Only the Goddess, the goddess who controls life and death, can remove the “destined death” from the Son of God, allowing the Armor of Destiny to activate and truly resurrect the Son of God.
And now, the Armor of Destiny has been successfully activated, all the necessary elements in place.
After using her psychic power to blast away several flying demons that attempted to approach, Mefnir extended the Goddess’ Sword and, before Nero’s despairing eyes, swung it, severing the power supply to the stasis field.
He could only watch as the stasis field suddenly emitted a clear sound like shattering glass, and the torrent of time, frozen for a thousand years, suddenly unleashed a torrent.
A leisurely sigh emanated from the Son of God, traversing the ages.
The Son of God’s death, frozen for ten thousand years, began to flow again.
He would soon succumb to his wounds, to the irreversible death that had been destined for him.
But death arrived before his destined demise, a step ahead of him.
The Goddess’s Sword, having just severed the stasis field, reached Robert’s chest in an instant, piercing his heart.
“No!!!” Nero couldn’t believe his eyes!
In his millennia of life, in his centuries as Chapter Master, he had never imagined that he would one day witness the death of the Gene-Father before his very eyes.
He would rather die quickly, so he wouldn’t have to witness this scene!
He couldn’t bear to watch any longer. He turned, his rage unleashed, completely unleashing, even disregarding defense, he desperately engaged the enemy before him, even if he died there and then. His
reckless fighting had cost him.
With a sudden burst of force, he slew a Chaos Champion, banished a Greater Daemon, and was himself struck to the ground.
But behind him, unseen, everything was not over yet.
The modular Armor of Destiny, controlled by a mechanical arm, swiftly closed in, and in the blink of an eye, it was placed on the majestic body of the Son of God.
A moment later, Robert’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, and the wound on his chest healed at a visible speed.
Along with the Son of God, the Emperor’s Sword, which had lain dormant for a thousand years within the stasis field, flew automatically into his grasp. This weapon, which had accompanied the Emperor into battle a thousand years before, served as his sword, illuminated the battlefield even before it was unsheathed.
Rising from its slumber, the Son of God brought a hush to the battlefield. Friend and foe alike
, they all froze at the sight of Robert’s majestic form. Even Gu Jing was no different. The Son of God, a mythical being, had appeared before them all. ”A puppet of the false Emperor!” a Nurgle daemon, its swollen body bulging out, its seven overlapping voices shaking the stone from the temple’s dome. “The Father’s gift will…” Its corrupted words abruptly stopped. Holding the Emperor’s Sword, the Son of God reached the demon’s presence in the blink of an eye. With a single, ferocious blow, he cleaved through its corrupted core, sending liquid golden light gushing from the wound inflicted on the Great Unclean One. This is the power of a Son of God. Among the Emperor’s many sons, Robert was never known for his military prowess. In mythology, he is often portrayed as a quintessential civilian, a wise politician, and the man who brought order to the five hundred worlds of the Ultima Segmentum, a region second only to the Solar Segmentum in wealth within the Imperium. Furthermore, under his leadership, the Infinite Legion became the largest in the Legionary Era. The number of Infinite Warriors alone was nearly as large as that of four or five medium-sized Legions combined. In contrast, his military prowess is rarely boasted in myth or history. He was not the kind of warrior commander who rushed to the front lines, blade in hand. Even when he personally participated in battle, he often sat at the center, overseeing the overall situation, achieving ultimate victory through brilliant strategy, tactics, and the art of command. However, no matter how civilian he may have been, or how unskilled he may have been in combat, that was only a comparison among the many Sons of God. He was still the Emperor’s heir, a son of God, one of the perfect individuals forged by the Emperor using a certain aspect of himself as a template. With a single strike of the sword, a great demon was slain. And what horrified the demons even more was that the Great Unclean One that had been slain was truly dead.
Demons are inherently immortal. They arrive in the real universe as projections, not their true selves. Killing them simply means the destruction of their projections. This, of course, has an impact on their true selves, and they take time to regenerate in the Warp.
The more powerful the demon, the more this is true.
But for the demons slain by Robert’s Emperor’s Sword, their very Warp essences are annihilated.
That means complete death.
A better way to understand it is that demons originally viewed combat in the real universe as playing a game. Death was simply the death of a game character—painful, but requiring a fresh start. However, the Emperor’s Sword possessed the power to slash through the network cable and slash the remaining players to death.
That was a completely different concept.
Realizing this, the demons present suddenly panicked.
Faced with true death, demons’ morale would collapse,
often even more rapidly than usual.
The few great demons still fighting screamed, attempting to break away from the battle and escape.
Seeing the Son of God approaching to slay them, they would rather disintegrate, abandoning their bodies, so hard-won into the real universe, than face Robert’s Emperor’s Sword, flowing with golden liquid.
The Chaos Space Marines, however, proved much more resilient.
But so what?
The entry of the Son of God into the battlefield dramatically altered the course of battle.
Whether a Khorne Berserker, a Chaos Champion, or a Wicked Sorcerer… none could withstand Robert’s second blow.
Their attacks proved ineffective against Robert. Even the Warp’s foul spells would dissipate before the Son of God, leaving him powerless.
These Chaos Space Marines fought tooth and nail, fighting tooth and nail. Even under the pressure of the Son of God, they were nearing despair, yet they refused to surrender and continued to fight.
This clearly demonstrated that this assaulting Chaos Space Marine force was truly the elite among the traitors. They were determined to succeed in this operation.
However, the disparity in power made all hope irreversible.
Robert, now awake, declared their attempt to prevent the Son of God’s resurrection a failure.
No new enemies emerged from the Warp rifts. The Chaos Space Marines still fighting had effectively given up.
While the battle wasn’t entirely over, its outcome was clearly sealed.
For Robert, the more important task now lay in understanding his current situation, how he had navigated these past ten thousand years, and what the Imperium faced.
He also had to address the most immediate threat before him. While the battle at the Temple of the Heir of God had been won, the Siege of the Superstar Sea hadn’t been lifted. The war, which had rippled across the Infinite Star Region, hadn’t ended either.
This was the first challenge the Son of God faced after his resurrection.
Gu
Hang believed Robert was destined to overcome this challenge.
Through his son’s perspective, Gu Hang had witnessed Robert’s resurrection up close and personal, from a VIP seat.
He also understood how this entire process unfolded.
It was ultimately linked to the nature of the Warp.
The resurrection of the Living Saints is due to the fact that they were imbued with the essence of the Warp by the gods—be they the Emperor or Gu Hang. When they die in the real universe, it’s like the death of a demon. As long as the Warp essence is not destroyed, there’s no true death, allowing them to return again.
The situation with the Son of God is different
, and much more complicated. Physical injuries alone might not be a significant blow to the Son of God; however, in Gu Hang’s view, far worse lies the so-called “destined death” that afflicts the Son of God.
This is a foul spell designed to destroy Robert’s Warp essence. Unless it’s removed, even the ingenious armor of fate crafted by the Archmagos Cawl, which maintains his body’s functions, cannot save the Son of God.
The true effect lies in the Eldar divine messenger.
Their goddess flashed before Gu Hang’s vision.
She seemed a unique being, perhaps a racial deity, but in a very different state.
She was powerful, but she was secretive and afraid to reveal herself, her subtle power limited to a certain extent.
She might be considered weak, but the power she wielded was truly remarkable. Through the goddess’ sword, she could truly bring about the cycle of life and death, a feat that left Gu Hang in awe.
The curse of ‘destined death,’ which Gu Hang had tried to circumvent despite his best efforts, remained unresolved. It was simply the death of the ‘Son of God’ that brought the curse to fruition, and thus dissipated. However, through the power of the goddess Windsor, life and death were reversed once more, bringing Robert back to life. The Armor of Destiny healed his mortal wounds, completing the resurrection process.
The resurrection of the Son of God was now a reality.
Gu Hang had no doubt that he would ultimately achieve victory in the Infinite Star Domain War.
While the enemy was formidable, Gu Hang, from his brief observation of Robert, recognized that these so-called Sons of God truly possessed immense power and wisdom.
This was evident in their powerful Warp Essence.
Even Robert’s relatively weak ‘brute force’ alone was enough to overpower the most powerful entity in the real universe Gu Hang had ever faced—the Bone Crusher King.
He would inevitably win the Infinite Star Domain War.
What Gu Hang cared more about was the Son of God’s next actions.
After winning back his Infinite Star Domain, what would he do? What
changes would the Son of God, awakened from the founding of the Human Empire thousands of years ago, bring to the Empire and to humanity?
And what impact would he have on the Alliance?
These were the things Gu Hang truly awaited.
