Chapter 878: Advancing into the Universe and Returning to the Heart

Grand Ceremony of Homecoming, the majority of attendees came from all over the Forward Universe, but not all.

The other half came from the Alliance.

Numerous officials from across the Alliance arrived at Ankachi VIII.

They were also the local dignitaries of the Forward Universe, and they were the ones they sought to connect with.

While Gu Hang was their leader, he was far away, connected to everyone, yet it was difficult to explain his connections to anyone.

However, these officials from the Alliance were different.

They were the real power holders destined to serve in various locations across the Forward Universe.

It was hard to say what the local dignitaries felt about these Alliance arrivals.

They weren’t particularly welcoming.

After all, they were already enjoying the comforts of their own local empires. Who would want to share power with someone from the Alliance, even over their head?

However, regardless of their feelings, the reality was that with the end of the Omgeria War, the Forward Universe had completely fallen under the control of the Alliance.

The entire universe consists of eight star regions. Needless to say, Ohmgeria was captured by the Alliance directly through brutal warfare—the entire region is practically devoid of human life.

The five star regions surrounding Ohmgeria are plagued by Ork and Zerg infestations. Without the Alliance’s intervention, they would all be annihilated.

That brings the total to six. For the remaining two, while the Ohmgerian threat isn’t immediate, they’re nonetheless aware of the severity of the Ohmgerian conflict. The Alliance’s victory brought them a sigh of relief and reaffirmed the Alliance’s legitimacy.

Legitimacy may sound a bit elusive, but it was clearly demonstrated in this moment.

The Alliance has Gu Hang, the nominally highest-ranking official in the Imperial Dark Side; and the Alliance is the only human force in the entire Dark Side to declare to the entire universe its commitment to saving all lost Imperial worlds and launching a Dark Side Crusade.

This alone is more than enough. For many worlds struggling in darkness, the Alliance’s Dark Side Crusade is practically their only hope.

Even more convincing is the victory in the war.

Starting from the Spider Web and Eastern Universes, the Alliance has fought relentlessly, conquering world after world, over decades, and now has conquered five or six universes.

The duration, scale, and results of these campaigns are comparable to, and even more significant than, the Human Empire’s most ambitious external expedition of the past century or two: the Solar Crusade led by the Sun Lord.

After all, many historical figures have criticized the Solar Crusade as a waste of resources, a lavish effort to gain prestige and expand territory, and as a waste of resources and bloodshed.

However, the Dark Side Crusade launched by Gu Hang and the Alliance truly reclaimed humanity’s homeland and saved countless citizens of the Human Empire from darkness.

This significance is different.

Not to mention, specifically regarding the Forward Universe, they had undoubtedly been liberated from a massive bomb whose detonation would surely shatter them to pieces.

With all these things piled up, who could possibly stand up to them?

Who could still say no to the Alliance?

None.

The powerful and influential from all corners eagerly flocked to the Alliance. Even though they had heard rumors for years that the Alliance would directly rule everywhere, establishing new governments for universes, star regions, star zones, and even planets, they were forced to accept it. They

had to accept it for the sake of legitimacy, and even more so, out of respect for the Alliance’s military prowess.

Their task was to accept all this and, within the broader framework established by the Alliance, see if they could strive to secure their own interests.

The soon-to-be-appointed Alliance officials were the primary targets of their discussions.

Their primary goal was to secure as much power as possible during the ensuing upheavals.

However, they soon discovered that the Alliance was not a force that only plundered without developing.

Unlike the Imperial Center, the Alliance was different.

As long as they remained firmly within its framework, they could find their place within it.

The Alliance not only provided officials to manage and tax them, but also brought opportunities for growth to the larger Alliance family.

Interstellar travel and communications, previously chaotic and impassive after the Cataclysm, became streamlined with the construction of the Thunder Torch Towers. They were surprised to discover that, if they followed the Alliance’s promise, their future market would extend beyond their own “homeland” to encompass tens of thousands of Alliance worlds to the east and north.

At the same time, their own development has benefited immensely from this expanded trade and closer economic and political ties.

The first to rejoice were the Imperial Chamber of Commerce’s caravans.

Although they were subject to the Alliance’s general management, their market reach had undoubtedly expanded significantly.

Secondly, the Mechanicus’ influence. The Alliance now controls a significant number of Forge Worlds, all of which are now coordinated by the Alliance’s Mechanicus Management Association. Under this management association, they are certainly no longer as important as they once were in the Empire, serving as just one of the “two-headed eagles.” The entire Alliance has only one leader, Gu Hang.

However, the closer technological exchange, as well as the many black boxes and “standard technologies” developed from the core organizations within the Mechanicus Management Association, such as the Ming Yang Sect, the Alfonzo Sect, and the Alliance Central Research Institute,

are extremely enviable. This open technological exchange, free from the cautious hostility and competition between Forge Worlds of the past, benefits all.

Furthermore, beyond technology, the “religious” side of the Mechanicus is also gradually undergoing some changes.

They still believed in the God of All Mechanics, believing that the Divine Emperor of the Human Empire and the God of All Mechanics were two aspects of the same being. However, just as the Alliance’s new state religion began to promote Gu Hang as a saint, even more than a saint, the God-Emperor’s emissary to the mortal world, they also began to develop some rudiments of faith in him.

They believed that Gu Hang, who could produce numerous black boxes and help all members of the Mechanicus to jointly explore the technology of the past golden age, was in some sense an incarnation of the God of All Mechanics.

Beyond these two factions, the armies and navies of various regions, tempered by war, had already been under the command of the Alliance Expeditionary Force Headquarters. Now, the only thing left was a more logical and formal reorganization.

Local governments, previously coordinated by the headquarters to supply resources and arrange production to the warfronts, were now able to transition smoothly to the new Alliance-style government model.

Government officials could remain in their original positions or be transferred to other planets or sectors.

Many discerning people could see that this was a means of decentralizing power and spreading disinformation. However… this was a genuine opportunity for promotion and wealth, so who could resist?

Furthermore, the Alliance offered a lucrative opportunity.

Just like many Alliance officials who had come from the Magre, Guangjin, and Adan cosmic domains, those from the Qianjin cosmic domains could also become officials elsewhere, even joining the Alliance’s central government.

This gave many local bureaucratic families the opportunity to ascend to a higher level.
