Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 880
Chapter 873: Encirclement and Killing? Gladly Accepting the Appointment!
The “God War” between Gu Hang and Second Brother Gomao in the Warp was a tumultuous affair.
The Warp surged, surging, and surging.
In the real universe, tens of thousands of worlds controlled by the Alliance, with tens of trillions of people, began to experience similar dreams, even hallucinations.
Even non-Alliance beings, every creature in the universe, looking up at the night sky, could see the scarlet scar that stretched across the starry sea, now interwoven with green and blue webs.
This massive and far-reaching divine war was quite underwhelming in its presentation.
It was simply Second Brother summoning immense power to crush the Storm Kingdom;
Gu Hang mustered all his strength to resolutely resist.
That was all.
The seemingly turbulent battle shook the entire Warp, a rare occurrence in ages, with both sides engaged in a life-or-death struggle of this magnitude.
Honestly, even if Gu Hang was at a complete disadvantage, afraid to even leave the house, the Greenskins wouldn’t be able to break through.
Initially, Gu Hang panicked, mobilizing nearly all his strength and preparing for a decisive victory—the Greenskin dream that had spread across the entire Alliance was a symbol and manifestation of this.
However, Gu Hang proved to be a bit overly sensitive. Despite his mobilization of power, the Greenskins failed to impress him. He scaled back his investment—a direct result of which was a diminished impact on the people of the real universe, and a narrowing of the scope of that impact. Even in this situation, the Greenskins still couldn’t impact the Kingdom of God. The
Greenskins had the advantage, to be sure, but they were far from converting it into a force capable of crushing Gu Hang’s Kingdom of God.
Gu Hang could hold out for many years in this state.
And if he failed, he could simply increase his demands on the real universe, allowing him to hold out even longer.
The second Greenskin brother had only one way to truly defeat him: maintain constant pressure outside the Storm Kingdom, keeping Gu Hang from attending to matters in the real universe and forcing him to rely on the entire Alliance for spiritual strength.
This would, over time, weaken and deplete the Alliance’s productivity, facilitating the spread of heretical ideologies, fear, and Chaos demons, leading to internal unrest.
Simultaneously, the Greenskins would have to rally armies from the real universe and attack the Alliance, conquering the worlds that provided Gu Hang with power. Once
enough worlds had been conquered, Gu Hang’s power base would weaken, allowing the second Greenskin brother to achieve true victory in the Warp and completely destroy the Storm Kingdom.
At that point, Gu Hang would be truly defeated.
But it was still early.
The Greenskins had to first win the ground war on Ankachi VIII. As the battle on Stormgod’s Kingdom captivated the entire universe, the decisive battle on the surface of Ankachi VIII also began. Bonebreaker King led his forces out of the heart
of his Throne Fortress, launching a proactive attack. This was, of course, a strategic objective. He had to admit, he had somewhat underestimated the combat capabilities of the Shrews. The pressure they posed was even greater than he had anticipated. If the humans continued to fight like this, he would be surrounded and annihilated in the heart of the Throne Fortress within two weeks. This timeframe was far from the two or three months he had initially anticipated. There was no time to wait for the aliens, or even the greenskins from other regions of the surface, to arrive for reinforcements. A complete siege would mean that 85% of the Throne Fortress’s military facilities would be out of his control. Recruiting troops, manufacturing new equipment, and even orbital air defense systems… all would be lost. By then, the humans, with ample time, would have many ways to kill him. They could use human lives to kill every greenskin around Bonebreaker, leaving him alone. What good could he do against a vast army? They had countless thousands! Even if they piled up, they would still crush him. Or, even simpler, they could use naval guns to destroy him. Without the earth shields or the anti-aircraft guns, even if he could use the power of the waagh to intercept and destroy the largest naval guns, what could he do with thousands of starships and tens of thousands of firepower? He was probably doomed. He had to fight his way out. Push back the human attack and reclaim the lost ground, at least within the Throne Fortress, to give himself more room for strategic maneuvering. Killing Owe and annihilating the Iron Fist Ambassador were the results of this strategy. And he succeeded. He crushed the most ferocious attack of the human forces and successfully curbed their overall offensive. He recaptured many positions and expanded his space. The morale of the Orc troops surged, with the technical experts playing a greater role. At Broken Bones’s behest, they rapidly repaired the various defensive structures of the captured positions, particularly the anti-aircraft equipment, to counter the relentless bombardment of the human fleet in orbit. Broken Bones’ own troops, however, did not pause. They pressed forward, their blades pointed directly at the command post at Landing Site One. Broken Bones clearly understood that this direction was not only the fastest for advancing, but also the headquarters of the human forces on the surface of Ankachi VIII. Broken Bones might even know who the ground commander was. By annihilating the command center for the multi-directional coordinated human operations, even if they couldn’t win the war, they could at least temporarily disrupt the human offensive and relieve their own pressure. All he sought was a sustained delay. Martins quickly realized that Broken Bones’ attack was aimed at him. He first arranged a defensive line to block the enemy and called in naval gunfire support. However, Bone Crusher’s attack was truly unstoppable. At this time, Gu Hang’s “Expert Plan” was still under preparation. While adding points and upgrading was quick and easy, empowering the Storm Kingdom was a bit slower, but it still took time. However, it would take time for these designated combatants to rush from all over the war zone to participate in the battle. Moreover, this wasn’t just a ring where two fighters could engage in a combat match. This was war.
In addition to the team of masters participating in the core combat, Martins also has to mobilize some elite troops from war zones in other directions to fight a decisive battle with Crusher.
Before his troops and generals arrived, Martins couldn’t face Bonebreaker head-on.
If captured, the reports from the front lines indicated he had no chance of success, and even escaping would be difficult.
Martins was forced to flee with his headquarters and staff.
This caused significant disarray in the Terran army as a whole.
The other five divisions might have fared better. Without a central command, each division maintained a robust command system. Even if some of the commanders, renowned Space Marine experts, were transferred out for the mobilization, they wouldn’t have taken their entire headquarters and staff with them. While the selection of new military leaders would undoubtedly lead to some disruption, the situation was naturally much better as they were no longer in a rush to attack and had shifted to a strategic defensive.
Martins’s situation was unique. His widespread flight disrupted the already fragmented command system, and the troops on each division were utterly decimated by the Greenskin main force, led by Bonebreaker himself.
The First Front, which had been making the most progress, was practically in a state of complete collapse after the Iron Fist Ambassador was annihilated and Commander Martins was driven to flight.
And it was beyond rescue.
The neighboring Second and Third Fronts did send troops to help, but… they couldn’t stop the enemy, and they truly couldn’t.
In the end, they could only resign
themselves to their fate and give up. This was the fate of the First Front, with each unit figuring out its own strategy. Their mission was to hold their positions, but they were allowed to flexibly determine their strategies and tactics based on the circumstances, retreating or going into hiding when necessary. Striving to survive and preserve manpower was also essential.
This even briefly allowed Bonebreaker to establish contact with the outside world. With six landing sites and six fronts surrounding Bonebreaker’s throne fortress, they had access to vast expanses of land on the planet’s outskirts, occupied by the Greenskins.
Despite the global bombardment of the human fleet, the Greenskin ecosystems and their derelict cities were unable to operate at full capacity to train new soldiers and forge new war equipment.
Overall, however, their numbers remained considerable, and at Bonebreaker’s call, braving orbital bombardment, they continuously arrived from across the globe to support the core battlefield.
Bonebreaker’s opening of a communication channel with the outside world was also of great significance. He instantly received a significant reinforcement, alleviating his previous predicament of being surrounded, unable to receive supplies, and facing a shortage of manpower.
This would obviously have a detrimental impact on the subsequent decisive battle, but there was no way around it.
However, during the period when Bonebreaker was unable to capture Martins and had to turn back to break the encirclement, the Human forces for the decisive battle had already taken advantage of this opportunity to assemble.
At the Second Front’s position, four Chosen-level warriors, twenty-six Chapter Champions, six S-rank psykers, nearly a hundred A-rank psykers, and over five thousand Space Marines, of which 10% were Company Champions, or over five hundred men… This was the Human force for the decisive battle, and it was all in place.
Without wasting any time, the battle began immediately.
Martins personally led his troops, first attacking the communication channel with the outside world that Broken Bones had managed to open.
Fourteen hours after Broken Bones’s breakthrough, the channel was sealed.
Even though Broken Bones had received numerous reinforcements during this period, time was limited.
Broken Bones would not easily abandon the passage he had finally opened.
He led his personal forces to meet the challenge head-on.
Broken Bones had received a warning from the greenskin gods; he knew the humans had prepared a “gift” for him, an attempt to kill him.
But so what?
If he were afraid, he wouldn’t be Broken Bones.
It was like the trap the Zerg had set for him months ago. Didn’t he see it?
No, of course he did.
He simply took it as an invitation, and he gladly accepted it, then tore off the bugs’ heads and used them as toys.
For the moment, he still viewed the humans’ united decisive battle force as an exciting opponent.
It would naturally be a challenge, but, like countless other challenges in his life, he would accept the challenge and, with his axe, chop down all challengers.
“
Roar!”
Bonebreaker roared!
He now bore at least six distinct scars, not counting any minor wounds.
Three of these wounds were inflicted by the ‘Living Saint,’ Grit, while the remaining three were inflicted by Martins, Ewing, and Rizzo.
The battle had already raged for two hours, or perhaps, from another perspective, it had never ceased.
After the human forces re-sealed the passage, the greenskins outside launched a frenzied attack. The greenskins inside, led by Bonebreaker, quickly reached the battlefield.
The human forces were thus caught between two fronts.
However, this time, the human side was determined. The so-called decisive battle force not only deployed its highest-end and most advanced combat power, but also brought in as many elite troops as possible, including those that could be assembled quickly. Furthermore, a steady stream of troops arrived, both airborne and ground-based, rushing to the battlefield.
They withstood the onslaught from both directions.
Upon his arrival, Bonescrush immediately called in a ferocious naval bombardment.
They didn’t expect the naval guns to kill Bonescrush—if they could, they would have already done it.
But Bonescrush couldn’t intercept every bombardment; there would always be naval gunfire. The Greenskins’ most elite troops, as long as they weren’t hit centrally by the naval guns, had a high chance of survival, but some would still be killed.
After the bombing, the ground forces began their charge.
They didn’t allow the previously disrupted Greenskins to recover easily, and under the cover of numerous Space Marines, they closed in on Bonescrush himself.
He was accompanied by nearly a hundred of his most powerful personal guards, including some Warlords and Grand Shamans—the equivalent of Chapter Champions and S-Class psykers on the Human side.
The psykers were the first to strike. Six S-Class psykers, accompanied by hundreds of A-Class, completely isolated the three Grand Shamans.
Their mission was to first neutralize the greenskins’ psychic powers and quickly eliminate them psychically, then assist in the siege of King Boneslayer.
Boneslayer glared, ready to rescue his subordinates, but he only managed to kill two A-rank psykers, not enough to affect the overall situation.
The Space Marines were already charging.
The twenty-six Chapter Champions separated the other warlords. They would quickly eliminate them, then turn and lay siege to Boneslayer.
The four chosen champions faced off against Bonebreaker himself.
