Chapter 573, I’m fed up with red tape

tape. Sage Dubo heard the blast of the protozoan chamber’s door.

Despite his unwavering concern for safety and security, he hadn’t imagined someone could actually reach his gate. He

had tens of millions of elite Skitarii on board, his finest core troops stationed outside, and he even had a Grand Archon directly at the gate…

yet they were still forced in.

Why?

Just because they were Space Marines?

Dubo had seen plenty of Space Marines. So what if eight hundred of them? Could eight hundred Space Marines rip through his Ark Mechanus?

Impossible!

No Chapter could do that!

Even with so many Heroic Spirits, creating a frontal battlefront to draw the attention of the Skitarii on board, it was no use. The troops he left behind to defend the ship could easily withstand a boarding assault by an entire Chapter.

In fact, it was more than enough.

However, the reality was that they had simply surmounted all the checkpoints Dubo had set, forcing their way to his door.

And at that moment, the sound of explosions at the doorway came from those Space Marines.

The door to the protozoan chamber was an incredibly heavy, high-strength alloy, making it incredibly difficult to open.

A completely locked door, opening it by technical means would be impossible in a short period of time; brute force was crucial. The craftsmen who had built it even guaranteed that even if the entire War Ark was destroyed, the door would survive. Even if it were reduced to a pile of space junk, at least it would remain intact.

Pah.

Just talk.

How could they possibly reach this point, and still be stopped by a useless door?

That was the reality.

Dubo could even discern the sound of explosions outside. They were using the most crude of methods:

melta bombs.

Why was it so

common ? It worked.

A melta bomb wouldn’t burn through his alloy door once, so what about two? Three?

Just hit a single spot, and the heat-melting properties would be enough to burn through the gate.

As for the builders’ boasts, just listen. This

isn’t bragging or criticism, but rather that no matter what data or indicators are, they can’t be left there for anyone to tinker with. Everything

will eventually break through. If those Space Marines can’t be eliminated or driven away, then no matter how sturdy the gate is, it will inevitably fall.

And right now, there are no armed forces left within the protozoan chamber.

Aside from the central Neurozoan, the size of a Warhound Titan, trapped by countless energy beams, the only living creatures left are him and the six Archbishops assisting him.

What else can he do?

Can he count on the defenders outside to drive away the Phoenix before the gate is breached?

Throughout this entire process, he had repeatedly urged Paulson to send forces, and he did so. He and several other Sages of the Main Devotion on board were even on their way.

If they arrived, there should still be hope, right?

As he thought this, he heard the crackling sound again.

This time, it was clearer than any before.

“It’s over.”

Just as this thought crossed his mind, he saw that the gate, said to remain intact even if a ship was destroyed, had an area about a meter and a half in diameter that turned red and then was irresistibly penetrated.

Then, a large foot kicked in, tearing a hole through the door.

Compared to the entire gate, the hole was actually quite small.

However, it was large enough for a Space Marine to enter,

even if that Marine had to stoop.

“Alas…”

Sage Dubo sighed.

He stepped down from the console, his red and black robes falling off, revealing a body that, stretched out, was no smaller than a Warhound Titan.

This was his war form.

He fixed his gaze on Martins, Captain of the Phoenix Chapter, who had entered, and said slowly, “I’m truly astonished. I can’t understand how you got here.”

“I have to admit, you’re very strong, truly very strong.”

“Humphrey Paul made a grave mistake when he spared you, the Phoenix, and sentenced you to the Penitential Expedition. They should have eradicated you 130 years ago, and we wouldn’t be in this situation today.”

“You’ve indeed succeeded, allowing me to step down from the console. This way, the Neurozoa’s powerful psychic power will be uncontrollable. Your Gu Hang, known as the most powerful psychic in the East, might have a chance to destroy a few of our warships during this time.”

“But it doesn’t matter. The ultimate outcome will simply be a higher price we’ll have to pay to completely destroy your fleet.”

“It won’t make any difference.”

“And that’s the end for you, too.”

Martins’s hand gripped the hilt of his sword.

He felt his whole body tremble.

The most formidable enemy he had ever faced was undoubtedly Casimir Erso, the former Chapter Master of the Fury Chapter.

Regardless of the force field, he had to admit that Erso was a truly magnificent warrior.

He vividly remembered the visceral vigilance he felt during their battle. A Space Marine’s unwavering sense of danger told him that Erso was an incomparably formidable foe.

However, the feeling back then couldn’t compare to the feeling now.

Watching the Sage of the Main Craft, stretched like a Titan, with countless steel limbs, flexible structures, and the ability to float and twist in mid-air, Martins could clearly sense that he was no match.

This being was far beyond the realm of “human,” even “superhuman.”

Even though Martins had reached a level considered superior among Chapter Champions, there was still no hope of defeating him.

Just as a Champion, no matter how powerful, couldn’t stand alone and directly confront a Warlord-class Titan,

it was impossible .

However, this was no reason for Martins to concede defeat.

His sole concern was the mission entrusted to him by Governor Gu Hang.

Even if he failed to defeat this formidable foe and died here, he would have to die in battle.

However, at this moment, Martins’ eyes widened slightly.

He saw an incredible scene.

Dubo was still unaware of it.

“I’m tired of red tape… I haven’t enjoyed a good fight in a long time. I hope you won’t let me down.”

As he spoke, he suddenly felt his body unable to move.

How could this happen?

The only reason he could think of was the neurozoa behind him.

But… how could it be possible?
