Chapter 566, Brainworm Tyrant

certainly knew what cerebrates were.

Although the Alliance hadn’t yet encountered the Void Zerg, considerable research information had already been widely circulated regarding these, the Imperium’s latest formidable enemy.

It must be noted that this universe is home to an endless variety of intelligent races and civilizations.

However, the vast majority of those encountered by the Imperium are insignificant. The worst are civilizations that have only developed on their own planets and haven’t yet ventured into space; the stronger ones operate within a few star systems, or at most, multiple sectors.

Civilizations of this magnitude are called “pocket empires.”

Compared to the immense size of the Imperium, these civilizations are truly like pockets.

The Imperium has encountered alien civilizations far more powerful than pocket empires in its historical record. However, the vast majority were annihilated during the founding war, led by the Emperor himself, while still on Earth.

Any alien civilizations encountered today are merely pockets for the Imperium, easily exterminated. Encountering such creatures during territorial expansion is, at best, a minor problem.

Incidentally, during the Solar Crusade, the majority of the targets of the Solar Lord’s expansion were actually enemies of this type.

However, among the many new enemies discovered by the Human Empire, the Void Zerg are the most terrifying.

No one knows their origins. They are the locusts of the universe, devouring one vibrant planet after another in vast swathes.

They are the ultimate predators, and human records of them are always centered around words like “plunder,” “devour,” and “evolution.” They can not only rip apart their enemies with their claws, but also use biological weaponry from afar, including biological artillery and biological Terran Zerg. The biological warships that roamed through space were the end of the Imperial Navy.

And they were not just an enemy of humanity. Other space forces had also suffered from the brutal and ruthless attacks of these monsters.

The Void Zerg were the pinnacle of biological evolution, existing for a single purpose: to reproduce, to reproduce endlessly. By digesting and absorbing the organic matter of the entire planet, these monsters multiply, constantly absorbing genes to transform themselves into ever-more lethal killing machines.

Only a fool would mistake the Tyranids’ brutality and bloodlust for a lack of intelligence. The Hive Mind ruthlessly and precisely controls the activities of all Zerg colonies to ensure the survival of the entire species.

The Hive Mind is an abstract entity without a physical entity, a collection of hyper-information concepts condensed across the physical world and the Warp, possessing immense power.

As a higher-dimensional being, the Hive Mind’s operational commands are transmitted through nodes, even capable of disrupting the brains of nearby beings, causing fear and anxiety and amplifying the terror of psykers.

In Gu Hang’s view, this “Hive Shadow” or “Warp Shadow,” which arrives with the arrival of the Zerg Swarm, is a reverse influence of real life on the Warp.

The Warp is an immaterial world, a sea of souls.

The Void Zerg appear to be soulless and emotionless monsters. However, they are still living beings in the real universe. While individual Zerg may lack individual wills, the combined Hive Mind of a Zerg swarm is immensely powerful. It naturally reflects itself in the Warp, transforming it into a merciless Warp monster.

As a Zerg swarm passes through, a portion of the Hive Mind descends with it, ‘suppressing’ the Warp in the corresponding area.

Or perhaps it’s the icy nature of the Zerg. The Hive Mind is cold and emotionless, focused solely on survival, plunder, devouring, and reproduction. Once it dominates the Warp, all psychic activity in that area will naturally be suppressed.

Human psykers are relatively safe, suffering only headaches that can be resolved by severing their connection to the Warp. Daemons and Chaos cultists are even more affected. In the few battles between the Void Zerg and Chaos Daemons observed by the Imperium, the latter have never gained any advantage.

Correspondingly, when the Void Zerg devoured certain races adept at using psychic energy, such as the Space Eldar and Chaos Daemons, they not only further mastered the countermeasure of using Warp Shadows to suppress psychic reactions, but also evolved creatures like Cerebrates within their swarms.

The Neurozoa, the king of cerebrates, were the pinnacle of psychic manipulation.

It’s generally believed that Neurozoa possess the strength of Alpha-class psykers.

The Alfonzo Cult is truly brave.

They actually dared to attempt to enslave something of this caliber?

And the point is… they actually succeeded?

However, this inevitably carries with it a significant hidden danger.

After Gu Hang learned that the battle on the northern front of the Spider Web Realm, led by the Infinite, Bat, and Alien Inquisition, had been halted by the Void Zerg, he strongly suspected that the Ironclads and the Zerg might have some unexplained connection.

Otherwise, it would be too coincidental that a sudden outbreak of Zerg would occur right on their route just as the Ironclads were unable to stop the northern front.

Therefore, Gu Hang conducted special research on the Void Zerg’s psychic abilities, preparing for the possibility of being helpless against such an enemy.

The current scenario and opponent seemed different than expected, but some of the tactics Gu Hang had prepared could still be employed.

However, before resorting to those tactics, Gu Hang believed there was a simpler, more direct, and more destructive method worth trying.

Since this psychic power wasn’t from the Alfonzo Cult, then… could it be made to go out of control?

What would happen if a neurozoan with Alpha-level psychic power went haywire and went berserk in the enemy’s war ark? Would

the several sages of the main occupation on that ship be able to suppress it?

Gu Hang wasn’t sure.

The Mechanicus was capable and shouldn’t be underestimated.

But even if they could, huge chaos on the ship would be inevitable.

This would practically destroy the most powerful war ark among the enemy forces.

While thinking, Gu Hang never stopped moving.

His psychic energy continued to tangle with that of the neurozoan, but the tangle was very… careless.

Du Bo felt that Gu Hang’s psychic energy had become easier to deal with.

Although he had doubts, this was good news.

Anyway, he had given up the idea of using the neurozoan’s psychic energy to attack the Alliance ships. He just had to

entangle Gu Hang’s psychic energy and prevent him from damaging his own warships. Even if Gu Hang suddenly withdrew his power later, he was determined not to be fooled. He would just guard his main battleship and wait for Gu Hang’s power to emerge again before immediately attacking him.

As long as Gu Hang’s psychic power could not affect his own ships, the firepower of the Mechanicus fleet would be enough to destroy the Alliance fleet.

Du Bo had no doubt about this.

But in the next moment, Gu Hang’s psychic power suddenly condensed into a ball of extremely tenacious and extremely penetrating force, piercing a large hole through the neurozoan’s subspace primordial energy ball.
