Chapter 1462 Unknown Anxiety

Zu’an was momentarily bewildered. What did she mean by saying that Zhang Jiao and his two siblings were created by her?

He glanced at Princess Nihuang beside him. Wasn’t she alive and well here, and a princess of the Asura Realm at that? How could she have been created by her?

Seemingly noticing his confusion, Xie Daoyun explained, “When I first came to this world, I saw ordinary people oppressed by corrupt officials, displaced and homeless. I felt great sympathy for them, so I did my best to help them.”

“I gave them porridge and used talismans to heal them. But the world is so vast, and there are so many disaster victims. Even if I worked from morning till night, how many people could I possibly help?”

“So I thought of finding someone to help me, but most of the disaster victims didn’t have much knowledge or ability. After failing several times, I decided to simply create some helpers myself.” Xie Daoyun smiled slightly. “I am a believer in memory. I was summoned by the True God and given some special abilities.”

She then looked at Zu’an: “The True God mentioned that her nemesis has a special ability called ‘Existence,’ which can create characters that didn’t exist in some worlds out of thin air. So she also researched a similar ability. However, memory is ultimately an objective record of existing things, so this ability is not as good as ‘Existence.’ It can only rely on physical objects to create.”

Zu’an’s heart stirred. The great nemesis mentioned by the True God of Memory was probably referring to the God of Chaos and Mystery. Speaking of which, he was able to enter as Liu Bei, the chosen one of this world, thanks to his ability to exist.

Xie Daoyun continued, “After much thought, I realized the most suitable source of creation for me is those three talismans. So, I created Zhang Jiao based on the Supreme Divine Firmament Talisman; Zhang Bao based on the Heavenly Heart Capital Merit Talisman; and Zhang Liang based on the Northern Emperor Subduing Demon Talisman.”

Zu An was shocked upon hearing this and looked at Princess Nihuang beside him.

Had he, after the Jing Teng sisters, fallen asleep to another talisman?

Princess Nihuang shrugged, a look of detached amusement on her face.

Xie Daoyun explained for her, “The other two talismans are fine, but the Heavenly Heart Merit Talisman’s function is to summon heroic spirits from all sides to possess you in battle. So when I used it to create Zhang Bao, an accident occurred, and Sister Nihuang was summoned by me.”

Princess Nihuang then spoke, “At that time, in order to…”

She paused, glanced at Zu An, and continued, “I entered some legendary secret realms in Asura to cultivate and try to improve my strength. As a result, I encountered a life-threatening crisis, and then I felt someone calling me from the shadows. In order to escape, I responded to the call and came here. I never expected that it was her who summoned me.”

Xie Daoyun was also filled with emotion, “It’s always a happy thing to meet some familiar people in this strange world.”

Zu An breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that Princess Nihuang still retained her own characteristics and was not simply a talisman.

“Each of them was extremely capable, and they quickly gathered many followers with their talismanic water. They founded the Way of Peace. Zhang Jiao was revered as the Great Teacher of Virtue and General of Heaven; Zhang Bao as General of Earth; and Zhang Liang as General of Man. Originally, they wanted to honor me as the Holy Mother, but Zhang Jiao was so old, I really didn’t want him to call me Mother.”

Xie Daoyun’s face showed a hint of girlish shyness. “Furthermore, the Memory Path shouldn’t interfere with the original cause and effect of the world. I shouldn’t have created them, so I shouldn’t have made myself known to the world. Therefore, I referred to myself as Zhang Jiao’s daughter, Zhang Ning. Originally, apart from the three siblings, no one else should have known the truth. But perhaps because those three talismans belonged to me, all the Yellow Turbans in the world had a strange kind of fanaticism when they saw me.”

She couldn’t help but sigh at this point, seemingly very distressed.

Zu An understood her mentality. She knew that what she had done had greatly violated the principles of the Mirror Historian of the Memory Path, so of course she wanted to keep a low profile as much as possible.

He suddenly thought of a question: “Can you absorb the power of faith like this?”

Xie Daoyun hummed in agreement: “I can indeed feel the power of faith, and my strength is increasing much faster than before.”

Zu An was also well aware of this. He had the title of the Deceitful One Who Steals Fortune, and when his bloodline offspring took the place of someone else’s heir, he could slowly extract the fortune and faith related to the original inheritor of fate.

He could also continuously obtain faith power from the secret realm of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Even if he didn’t cultivate, he could become stronger just by lying down every day.

No wonder these true gods spread their doctrines extensively, distributing their temples and ideas throughout the myriad realms.

“By the way, how did the Yellow Turban Rebellion develop into a nationwide uprising?” Zu An suddenly realized that the Yellow Turban Rebellion’s actions clearly contradicted his memory.

Xie Daoyun suddenly sighed, “The initial intention of establishing the Taiping Dao was to save all the suffering people in the world. But as the Taiping Dao grew larger and larger, many things became beyond my control.”

“As the organization expanded, the ambitions of many of the Taiping Dao’s higher-ups grew as well. Even Zhang Jiao and his group developed other ideas. They no longer wanted to rely on talismanic water to save people; instead, they wanted to overthrow this unjust world and establish a new order.”

“Of course, Sister Nihuang is alright, after all, she has your connection to her. But she’s naturally fond of fighting, so she doesn’t really object to Zhang Jiao and his group’s views…”

Zu An asked in a deep voice, “Did Zhang Jiao and Zhang Liang develop personal ambitions?”

Xie Daoyun shook her head slightly, “To say they have ambitions would be to underestimate them. Although many of the Taiping Dao’s higher-ups do have ambitions, Zhang Jiao and his group have no selfish desires and still retain their original lofty ideals. It’s just that we disagreed on how to achieve those ideals.”

Zu An nodded secretly. There’s a saying: “All crimes stem from a failure of methodology, not a mistake in values.”

“Because most Taiping Dao followers agree with his ideology, I couldn’t forcefully stop him, so I’ve been faithfully observing and recording everything.” She smiled. “Perhaps they are right in the end.”

Princess Nihuang sighed beside her: “But according to Brother Zu, their original fate was probably not good.”

Xie Daoyun was startled and quickly looked at Zu An.

Zu An then told her everything he knew.

“Why is that?” Xie Daoyun was puzzled. “Although I don’t quite agree with Zhang Jiao’s path, the Yellow Turban Army is powerful now. Even if the imperial guards come, the two sides will be deadlocked. How could they be defeated so quickly within a year?” “Moreover, Zhang Jiao

is the incarnation of the High Supreme Divine Firmament. How could he die of illness so easily?”

Zu An was actually not sure at first whether this world would really develop as in history, but after learning about Zhang Jiao’s true form, he suddenly felt a strong sense of unease.

Zhang Jiao, the incarnation of the High Supreme Divine Firmament, would probably live much longer than most people in this world, let alone get sick.

He couldn’t have died of natural causes, but what if he didn’t?

Countless recent pieces of information flooded his mind, and he hurriedly stood up: “Where is Zhang Jiao now? We need to go see him and warn him to be careful!”
