Chapter 1400: The Gate of the World

After the other party left, the fairies returned to dress and groom her:

“Your Majesty and the Heavenly Emperor have such a good relationship.”

“Yes, they’re inseparable, even after such a short time, they can’t bear to be apart.”

…

Hearing the fairies’ good-natured teasing, Xihe’s face burned intensely. She didn’t know why she had just agreed to marry that guy.

They had only known each other for a short time, she had only just learned his name, and everything about him was like a fog.

Was it because he said he was her future lover?

What if he was lying to her?

A series of thoughts rushed through her mind, making her feel anxious and uncertain.

…

Meanwhile, Zu’an returned to Dijun’s room and began to meditate and reflect on his experiences in this world. He felt that something was amiss, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.

At this moment, there was a knock at the door: “Brother, I have important business to discuss.”

Donghuang Taiyi!

Zu’an opened his eyes, the door opened silently, and Donghuang Taiyi walked in with a smile, casually closing the door behind him.

An invisible aura enveloped the surroundings, with golden runes appearing in all directions, seemingly isolating everything.

“What are you doing?” Zu An asked coldly.

“Brother, did you get any results on the matter you mentioned you were investigating?” Donghuang Taiyi’s eyes were filled with eagerness.

Zu An’s heart skipped a beat. It seemed Di Jun’s previous disappearance was a ruse; at least Donghuang Taiyi knew what he had gone to do.

The key was that he had no idea what Di Jun had investigated, so he said ambiguously, “Do you think I came back too quickly, or perhaps you didn’t want me to return?”

Donghuang Taiyi’s smile froze. “Brother, what are you saying? I’m overjoyed to see you back. You were so serious back then; clearly, the journey was extremely dangerous. Now that you’ve returned safely, there must be good news.”

“It might not be good news.” Zu An’s mind raced, trying to appease him while simultaneously trying to extract more information.

To everyone’s surprise, Donghuang Taiyi’s expression instantly darkened: “You’re not my brother, so who are you?”

Zu’an frowned, “What do you mean?”

“Actually, I was suspicious from the beginning. I was just verifying it,” Donghuang Taiyi said coldly. “What my brother is going to do is a matter of life and death. If he comes back, it proves he’s succeeded. If it’s not good news, he obviously won’t come back. Your vague answer is just an attempt to trick me into revealing your identity. Who are you?”

Zu’an secretly sighed. Sure enough, no one who becomes one of the world’s top beings is a fool.

At the same time, he was curious about what kind of thing would make even the Heavenly Emperor face such a life-or-death situation.

Facing the other’s burning gaze, he smiled slightly: “I am your brother, Di Jun.”

“Trying to take advantage of me?” Donghuang Taiyi’s expression turned cold. Suddenly, a miniature golden bell appeared in his hand. With a flick of his finger, an invisible pressure surged towards Zu’an.

Clearly, he was being very restrained; otherwise, the entire Heavenly Palace might have heard the commotion.

Suddenly, a dazzling galaxy appeared before Zu’an, and the terrifying sound waves disappeared upon entering it.

“The River of History? What’s your connection to Zhulong?” Donghuang Taiyi’s expression changed.

Zu’an, however, was struck by a sudden realization. This was clearly the power of memory, so why did he think it was related to Zhulong?

He was no stranger to Zhulong; the head of the Ancestral Witches, and the key figures in the two previous encounters with the Yayu in the secret realm were all his sons.

“Are you planning to start a fight here so everyone in the Heavenly Palace will know?” Zu’an said calmly.

Donghuang Taiyi raised an eyebrow. This guy’s identity had been exposed, yet he showed no sign of panic, remaining remarkably calm—a calmness that surprised even Donghuang Taiyi.

“I’m impersonating you, what am I afraid of?”

Zu’an smiled slightly. “If that were the case, you wouldn’t have been able to control the range of the Donghuang Bell just now. I think we both know that whether I am the real Dijun or the fake Dijun, the Heavenly Palace needs an Dijun here now.”

Donghuang Taiyi’s expression changed; he hadn’t expected his thoughts to be seen through.

“Indeed, the Heavenly Palace needs a Di Jun, but not a weak, fake Di Jun.”

As he spoke, the Eastern Emperor Bell in his hand appeared directly above the other party’s head, its Daoist aura enveloping the area, attempting to trap him.

However, the smile on his face quickly froze, because the other party walked out of the Eastern Emperor Bell’s range as if nothing had happened.

“This is impossible!” The Eastern Emperor Bell was a primordial divine artifact, invincible in defense and powerful in offense. In all these years, no enemy trapped within it had ever escaped successfully.

“Now can we have a proper talk?” Zu An had cultivated the “Illusory Realm of the Great Void,” allowing his body to shift between reality and illusion at will. How could the Eastern Emperor Bell possibly contain him?

Donghuang Taiyi remained silent. Even the Eastern Emperor Bell was helpless against him; the other party’s strength was indeed enough to command his respect: “You are the one Gui Che mentioned before, the one with the seven-colored divine light beside Xi He.”

He wasn’t stupid. Xi He had been so cooperative throughout the journey, clearly indicating a close relationship between the two. Besides that mysterious person, he couldn’t think of anyone else.

“Who I am is unimportant. From now on, I am Di Jun, and we should be on the same side,” Zu An said in a deep voice. “Now, can you tell me what the real Di Jun is doing?”

Donghuang Taiyi’s expression shifted between light and dark, clearly reluctant to speak.

Zu An seized the opportunity to say, “You analyzed it very clearly just now. Di Jun’s journey was fraught with peril, and there’s still no news. It’s obvious he’s in grave danger. If I didn’t know this, how could I dare to use Di Jun’s identity to draw your attention?”

“I don’t even know your background, how could I dare to tell you such a secret?” Donghuang Taiyi said coldly.

“Background is unimportant. As long as we know our interests align, that’s enough. You need a Di Jun, and I want to be with Xihe and be a good Di Jun.”

“You took such a big risk just for a woman?” Donghuang Taiyi found it somewhat unbelievable.

“She’s not an ordinary woman. We have a bond spanning several lifetimes. I’ve already lost two extremely important people; I can’t lose her too,” Zu An said with a strange sigh in his voice.

Donghuang Taiyi frowned. “Forgive my bluntness, but your reasons don’t convince me. However, I don’t mind telling you this secret, because I fear that one day something will happen to me, and no one in the world will know anything.”

“I’m all ears.”

Donghuang Taiyi paused, seemingly considering how to proceed, before finally speaking, “Dijun wants to push open the Gate of the World, to see what’s behind it.”

“The Gate of the World?” Zu’an frowned. “What’s that?”

“No one knows what that door is. Legend has it that the ultimate secret is hidden behind it. Di Jun is already the most powerful being in the world and has lost interest in everything except the unknown.” Donghuang Taiyi’s tone also carried a hint of excitement.
