Wizard: Starting With Synthesized Gems - Chapter 933
Chapter 928 The Entrance to the Tower of the Black Sun and the Past of the Sea Queen’s Throne
Beyond the era, a magnificent throne sat a dragon smoking opium. The wizards of the Tower of the Black Sun were performing a ritual before the dragon.
The dragon tapped its pipe against the massive armrest of the throne. The pipe struck the armrest, and ashes fell, the wizards of the Tower of the Black Sun paled. Each piece of ashes was as large as a mountain, containing boundless magical pressure.
The dragon wasn’t smoking ordinary tobacco; it was a derivative of high-level magical plants, embers from the past.
He wasn’t smoking opium, but the power of faith from the entire wizarding civilization of the past.
The high-level wizards of the Tower of the Black Sun all felt their breathing become labored, their hearts pound, and they were filled with anxiety. Countless voices filled their ears, all cursing and roaring. All the negative prayers emanated from the scattered ashes.
A third-ring wizard struggled to speak, “Your Highness, our rank is insufficient to withstand this power of faith. If this continues, we will all be assimilated. Have we done something wrong?”
The dragon extinguished its smoke.
“Weak, too weak.”
“Poor, too poor.”
“You also want to truly join the Tower of the Black Sun? You can’t even withstand a trace of the embers of an era.”
“I sent you down to investigate who repeatedly triggered the Curse of Extinction. So many days have passed, why is there no news?”
The third-ring wizard hesitated for a moment, then said, “Your Highness, we have found nothing. A force has intervened.”
A voice fell from the throne. “Who?”
the third-ring wizard asked. “Golden Crown Mountain.”
The dragon said impatiently, “Then eliminate them.”
The third-ring wizard replied, “This… we can’t do it. In the pure-blood era of the past, Golden Crown Mountain possessed the ability to ensure its survival even under attack from the entire wizarding civilization, and to guarantee its existence at all times. Even though they should be far from having that ability now, they are still very troublesome.”
“They are the top wizarding academy of Cloudswamp Wetlands…”
The dragon on the throne grew impatient, tapping his palm with his pipe.
“Your era is a mess. The strong are held hostage by the weak, and the weak are deceived by the strong. It’s chaotic, without hierarchy or order.”
“The ability to survive an attack from an entire civilization?”
“But you no longer have that ability?”
The third-ring wizard said, “Our priestly magic network isn’t complete yet. Without priests, our magical power can’t be unleashed. Moreover, the expansion rate of magical power in the modern magical age is probably the sum of the expansion rates of magical power in the past several eras. That’s why Mount Golden Crown has lost this ability to withstand the entire world.”
The World-Destroying Dragon rose from its seat.
“In that case, I’ll go down myself. I want to see what kind of power this so-called wizarding university, capable of withstanding an entire civilization within an era, truly possesses.”
As he finished speaking, the wizards of the Black Sun Tower looked up, only to see that the dragon had vanished, and sitting on the throne was once again a rotting and bloated giant corpse. The corpse sat limply on the throne, its head listlessly tilted back, gazing at the sky, its face covered by a hideous black mask.
The mask was twisted with malice.
…
In the Rootcrown Court, in the Sea Queen’s office, Locke immediately left his Golden Crown Mountain dormitory after hanging up the video call with Wizard Terence.
He then went to the Rootcrown Court, intending to deliver a bottle of Teleportation Potion he had recently concocted to the Sea Queen.
However, the Sea Queen wasn’t in her office; her family witch had told him to wait for her there.
So, after waiting for an hour, Locke used that time to contact Wizard Alaric at the Merri Ruins.
Wizard Alaric seemed to be on vacation at some manor. He paused for a moment after receiving Locke’s video call.
“Huh? Don’t you Cloud Marsh Wetlands have holidays? Today is the Golden Festival in our Horizon of Darkness and Light, we’re celebrating, and basically all the wizards in Wizardland are celebrating.”
Locke couldn’t help but ponder; it seemed the Cloud Marsh Wetlands’ holidays were just an excuse to sell things.
He’d been at Golden Crown Mountain for so long and hadn’t really enjoyed any holidays.
Nobody in Cloud Marsh Wetlands had holidays!
Alaric looked as if he had been taken aback.
“Lord Augustine, I had heard that the Cloud Marsh Wetlands were in trouble, but I didn’t expect it to be this bad. Luckily, I don’t have any teaching position at the wizarding university there.”
Locke nodded and said, “Then happy holidays. Alaric, I need to hire a wizard to go to the Cold Mountain Ruins.”
Alaric almost coughed up the wizard’s wine he had just drunk.
“Cold Mountain Ruins? This…”
“Is that the city where even second-circle wizards can’t get out after going in?”
“Why do you need someone to go to that city?”
Locke asked, “Can you help me find someone? Or can you help me post a quest to recruit second-circle wizards to go to the edge of the Cold Mountain Ruins? They just need to collect the sunrise and sunset of the Cold Mountain Ruins according to my spell model.”
Alaric glanced at the simplified spell model diagram provided by Locke and said it in one breath.
“Isn’t this the Golden Spell project in my teacher Russell’s Throne laboratory?”
Locke was somewhat surprised.
“You actually know about this?”
Alaric said. “Of course I know. Well, actually, it’s because the senior student who did this before was quite famous in our lab. He was always so bitter and resentful, with a look of hatred for the world on his face, and he never interacted with anyone else. It seemed like interacting was useless, because what he was doing had nothing to do with anyone else.”
“Then he disappeared. I remember he wasted a lot of his time every day on the meaningless task of collecting solar orbits. This seemed to have a huge impact on him.”
Locke nodded slightly. Collecting this data required a second-circle wizard to do it personally to ensure the details of the collected data, but it really didn’t require any technical skill; it was purely a tedious task.
Doing this kind of thing too much could completely disrupt one’s rhythm and reduce one’s future potential.
He could imagine what the second-circle wizard who did this experiment for Russell’s Throne was feeling; he probably even had murderous thoughts. No wonder he was eventually forced to become a dark wizard.
Alaric looked at Locke with a horrified expression.
“How did this damned sinkhole end up in your hands? Did my teacher conscript you too?”
Locke’s expression was strange. “A sinkhole? In your teacher, Lord Russell’s words, this is a very good project.”
Alaric looked frightened and tentatively asked, “Lord Augustine, you won’t tell my teacher what I said, will you?”
“Absolutely not.”
“In his eyes, this Golden Spell project is the best project. Wizards who criticized it to his face before didn’t get away with it.”
Locke said, “Of course I won’t tell Lord Russell. Don’t worry about that. This is a project your teacher gave me voluntarily; according to him, it will help with my recent research.”
Alaric said, “Oh. I see. But you’d better be careful.”
Alaric thought of the possibility of Locke and Lord Russell talking again, and he immediately stopped himself from speaking. After all, if what he said reached his teacher’s ears, he would be the one in the worst situation.
Alaric said to Locke, “If that’s the case, then Lord Augustine, you don’t need to hire anyone to go
to the Cold Mountain Ruins. Before leaving, that senior brother gave me some of the data he collected.” “Let me see. Found it, right, the last data he collected, the data he didn’t send to the teacher, came from the Cold Mountain Ruins.”
“Isn’t that a coincidence… The teacher doesn’t know about this data. If you want it, I’ll send it to you.”
Locke nodded, surprised by this unexpected gain. It seemed Alaric was indeed well-liked within the Russell Throne team; when he left, he probably didn’t want to give the data to the Russell Throne, so he gave it to him.
This showed the student’s deep resentment towards the Russell Throne.
Alaric sent the data to the Gray Mist Slate, and through a small group within the Gray Mist Slate, he sent all the information to himself.
Locke checked the data and found that it was indeed what he needed.
Locke asked him, “How many magic stones?”
Alaric hesitated for a moment, then smiled and said, “It’s free. That senior didn’t charge me when he gave me the information, so I’m giving it to you for free.”
Locke noticed that the people of the border between the Dark and Bright seemed to have a different kind of generosity than wizards from other wizarding lands. In other places, he couldn’t imagine a white wizard giving things away for free.
So, Locke was momentarily stunned, and he even seriously considered whether he should give Alaric money.
Locke looked at Alaric and asked, “Although you’re celebrating a holiday, Alaric, why hasn’t your magic pressure improved much? It’s been almost two years since the Cloud Ze Cup, but your magic pressure now isn’t much different from then.”
Alaric looked at Locke with a complicated expression.
“I’ve been slacking off lately,”
Locke said, looking at him with suspicion.
Alaric said, “Lord Augustine, let me tell you a story. There was an ugly duckling that accidentally entered a flock of swans. When they were young, it mistakenly thought it was just like them. But when the swans and the ugly duckling grew up, the differences became apparent.”
“It turns out that the ugly duckling will only ever be an ugly duckling. But a swan is a swan from the moment it is born.”
“Lord Augustine, golden magic… You’re not a wizard who studies golden magic, so you don’t know that this phenomenon is even more severe in the realm of golden magic. My golden bloodline has an upper limit; I can’t become a second-circle wizard.”
Alaric said, “However, if I just let go of my desire to become a second-circle wizard, taking a step back will open up a whole new world. I can go to the gathering place of lower-level wizards in the border region between light and darkness; I can enjoy life here.”
Locke asked two questions.
“Alaric, firstly, who told you these things? Secondly, does Wizard Russell know about these things?”
Alaric was taken aback. “How do you know?”
He smiled self-deprecatingly.
“No wonder he’s a second-ring archmage. A year ago, I met a wizard from the genius class of the Borderlands of Darkness and Light. It was in front of him that I realized what a genius was. Those were true geniuses. He told me that they disdained participating in outside competitions.”
“He told me that my golden bloodline has an upper limit, that I’ve already reached my limit, and that I have no more potential.”
Alaric lowered his head and said, “He recently developed the symbol of the Borderlands of Darkness and Light, the Golden Eye Demon Construct.”
“Locke, these things… my teacher doesn’t know yet, and I dare not let him know. I’m very confused right now. I don’t even know why my teacher took me in. Was it just because I performed reasonably well in the Cloudze Cup? Perhaps that was the limit for this ugly duckling.”
“I really feel guilty towards him.”
Locke glanced at him with a complicated expression, then looked at the free information Alaric had given him on the gray mist stone slab.
“I don’t understand anything about Golden Magic, and I certainly don’t understand the difficulty of learning it for those with lower-level Golden bloodlines. But I believe there must be a reason why the Russell Throne chose you. Alaric, you’ve only wronged yourself.”
Locke asked, “Alaric, I don’t know what you’ve been through, or who told you these things. But that person had ill intentions.”
“So I immediately realized that what you said wasn’t your true thought, but something someone told you. I ask you, what is a second-circle wizard?
” Alaric said, “A person who walks further on the path of truth, a more powerful wizard…”
Locke said, “None of those, but rather a multiple transcendent.”
Alaric’s eyes widened.
Locke said, “A second-circle wizard is a second-time transcendent of the racial soul limit, that is, a multiple transcendent. From this point on, it means that a wizard has become accustomed to constantly surpassing themselves.”
“You say I don’t understand Golden Magic, so I can’t understand you? But if you really want to become a second-circle wizard, then you need to surpass yourself, surpass the Golden bloodline within you.”
Alaric’s pupils suddenly contracted.
“A second-circle wizard is a multiple transcendent… someone accustomed to surpassing limits?” “
Becoming a second-circle wizard meant surpassing the past from the very beginning… one’s own golden bloodline. So, the grade of this golden bloodline isn’t the biggest obstacle limiting me; isn’t my mindset the real obstacle?”
A burning flame flickered in Alaric’s eyes.
Outside the Sea Queen’s office, the Sea Queen placed her hand on the doorknob. She had been chewing gum and was about to push open the office door, but after hearing Locke’s words, her hand froze on the spot.
She stood there thinking for a long time, then complex emotions, even resistance, surfaced in the Sea Queen’s eyes.
“Multiple transcendents?”
“Wizards who have surpassed the limits? What era is this? There are still wizards holding such ancient ideas.”
“Naive… so naive.”
The Sea Queen sighed.
“But what can I do? I just love teaching naive children.”
“Am I destined to never get rid of them in this lifetime?” The Sea
Queen, her face cold, pushed open the door and entered her office. Locke immediately hung up the phone with Alaric and stood up to bow to her, saying, “I apologize, Your Majesty. I waited here for a long time without seeing you, so I asked a friend for some information.”
The Sea Queen raised her hand, giving him a palm raise, and said, “You don’t need to say so much to me.”
“I don’t care about these things.”
“I’ve said it before, you don’t need to follow so many rules in front of me.”
Locke looked at the Sea Queen strangely, wondering why her tone was colder today, even giving him a feeling of being kept at arm’s length.
The Sea Queen said, “I heard from my family wizard that you came to see me today. Is there something you need?”
Locke said, “Your Majesty, this is a teleportation potion I’ve been concocting. After returning last time, I used some time to practice it.”
A slight hint of surprise flickered in the Sea Queen’s eyes. She picked up the potion and sniffed it.
The quality of this Apparition Potion was exceptional, even rivaling her own.
The Sea Queen asked, “What is the golden bloodline you possess?” Locke
hesitated for a moment before replying, “My teacher told me it seems to be from the World-Destroying Dragon.”
A look of astonishment crossed the Sea Queen’s face.
“Hmm? Mount Golden Crown truly lives up to its reputation as a gathering place for dragon-blooded wizards. To find a human wizard with dragon blood is quite a rarity. The World-Destroying Dragon is a very high-level golden bloodline, which explains your talent in golden magic. You may leave now; I will announce the time for the third lesson.” “
Because Wizard John has approached me, I cannot begin the third lesson immediately. It just so happens that Mount Golden Crown is currently applying for special funding. Let’s schedule the third lesson for a month from now.”
Locke bowed to the Sea Queen, saying, “As you wish, Lady Helen.”
Locke picked up the potion and left the office.
After he left, the Sea Queen stared blankly at Locke’s retreating figure. “
Honestly,” she thought, “I only wanted to find Alba Dalton a study partner, but I never expected that one of my second-circle wizard students from the Feathered Serpent Pavilion would possess such a special talent. A very rare human wizard with dragon blood—could such a person have any special strengths as a potion master?” An interest
flashed in the Sea Queen’s eyes.
“It’s even made me somewhat interested in taking him on as a disciple.”
“Well, since he’s an idealist now, I’ll have Alba Dalton help him stifle that, let him experience some of the harshness and helplessness of reality. That way, he’ll forget those boring and naive views.”
“If he can forget them, then he’s promising. I wouldn’t mind teaching him seriously.”
“It’s been a long time since I took on a disciple.”
The Sea Queen thought of someone, and as she reached for the magic quill on the table, her fingers trembled.
She frowned.
Was that incident still affecting her?
It was all the brewers’ fault, always boasting that the wizarding wine from the Rainswamp was the best in the world. She’d been drinking it for years, yet she hadn’t completely forgotten it.
Foolish!
The Sea Queen stretched out her hand yearningly, where was that legendary, best wizarding wine in the world—the Underworld Wine?
That legendary wine that, once drunk, could make one forget everything one disliked…
Alba Dalton, the witch, had just entered the office when she saw this scene. She quickly left, closing the door and hiding outside, a sorrowful glint in her eyes.
She didn’t know why she felt so sad after seeing her teacher like that.
Her teacher said she had once been a third-circle wizard.
Her teacher said she had forgotten many things, things she could forget better than things she remembered now.
What had happened in the past?
…
Locke was making his final efforts for the upcoming competition for the institute’s top-tier grant application. He and Douglas had worked together and had already completed most of the application.
Meanwhile, in his laboratory in the second dune plane, after inputting the sunrise and sunset data he had obtained from Alaric into the spell model of the Golden Spell, he stood before a green foxtail grass and cast a spell. Instantly, five golden rays appeared on his left hand, swirling around the magical plant.
A sun seemed to appear behind the green foxtail grass.
Locke’s pupils instantly turned vertical, and he looked at the green foxtail grass with a dangerous gaze. As the sun rose and set behind the green foxtail grass, it gradually transformed into a golden foxtail grass.
Locke looked at the golden foxtail grass, and as he stopped chanting, the golden foxtail grass quickly returned to its original green foxtail grass.
“I see.”
“The principle of the Golden Spell is to summon golden magic through the conservation of golden magic fluctuations, restoring the foxtail grass to golden wheat. So there are still two major challenges. First, the data is limited, so it only works on green foxtail grass for now. Second, once the spell is stopped, this atavistic characteristic disappears, and everything returns to normal.”
“However, by changing our approach, using this magic to enhance my atavistic evolution can open a new door,”
Locke pondered.
The constant nature of this golden magic power can itself enhance other magical powers.
Many magical powers contain some golden magic for this reason; in the modern magical era, golden magic is like a necessary ingredient that must be mixed with other magic. Different characteristics of golden magic can enhance other magic and bring about specific effects.
With his currently exaggeratedly inhuman golden magic talent, Locke quickly fine-tuned the Golden Spell, intending to utilize its principle to change the original method of summoning the golden magic power within the magical plant to using the conservation of golden magic power to enhance his atavistic evolution magic and strengthen its original effect.
“From this perspective, it actually has some connection to wave theory.”
