Chapter 912 Williams’ Plea for Help and Douglas’s Treasure

Locke picked up the book, recalling all the archaeological spells recorded in the Wizard King’s Codex, racking his brains, but couldn’t come up with a good solution.

He recited the incantation and gestured towards the spellbook, trying to scan for the negative energy particle field information hidden within, but found nothing; the negative energy particle field information was completely removed.

Of course, Locke suspected that the negative energy particle field remaining in the book wouldn’t have been enough for him to cast the History Projection Spell or the History Recreation Spell.

This person was simply too cautious.

Locke fell into thought, holding up the travelogue to the Ackerman wizard, and said, “Then I’ll take it with me for now.”

The Ackerman troll wizard said, “Good, I hope you can find out who did it soon. That would really be a great help to me.”

Locke frowned, because this meant the trail had temporarily stopped.

Locke’s main body took the travelogue back, while his clone stayed behind to continue searching for information.

Three hours later, Locke rummaged through the library’s materials but found nothing new, neither the region where the destroyed Black and White Codex might exist, nor any articles corroborating the travelogue he had just read.

Locke was deep in thought, but this didn’t stump him. When he first forged the Moon of Evolution, he spent far more time figuring out his first major spell.

When creating his second major spell, he simply followed the existing ideas of the Mist’s Power, combined with the study of the seasons, and used the unique half-body talent of the dragon bloodline to remove the Persepolis gods’ millennia-long arrangements in the three planes, thus forging the Tree of Prosperity.

Now, he was willing to spend even more time figuring out how to forge his major spell a second time.

This required patience and focus.

Locke calmed himself and began searching for more information. If it wasn’t here, he would check other wizarding university libraries.

He wouldn’t even overlook the libraries of the lower-level colleges below Mount Golden Crown; they might contain useful information.

“Using the Golden Spell to complete the ancestral evolution is my only goal now,”

Locke said resolutely.

Locke saw that someone had contacted him on the Water Hyacinth System. He took out the Ganoderma lucidum plant and found it was Williams. “Williams, what’s up?”

Williams sent him a message of good news.

“Teacher, thank you for the information you gave me before. Because of the information you gave me, plus some other fortuitous encounters, I was able to publish my first Zone 1 article in just one month.”

Locke asked, “Where did you publish it?”

Williams replied, “Qingcao Yunze.”

“Teacher, thank you for your help. I haven’t let you down either. Because of this article, I’ve received an extra reward: I can enter a very high-level Zone 1 Wizard’s Secret Realm Valley.”

“I’m currently preparing for it. Teacher, is there anything you want to tell me?”

Locke thought for a moment.

“No, Williams, you always know what you want to do. That’s good.”

Locke smiled. The emergence of this Ganoderma lucidum crystallization technology route, it seems, wasn’t all bad.

At least his student Williams had benefited a lot from it.

Although the emergence of the plant crystallization technology route had brought many wizards in the True Knowledge Academy a windfall, closing the gap between them and him, and resulting in him obtaining the Golden Cup and publishing an article in Zone 1, it all seemed quite ordinary.

However, he didn’t really need the limelight.

The current situation was actually quite good for him.

Williams said, “Teacher, I was able to publish an article in Zone 1 this time because I completed the crystallization of the [Tiger Orchid]. Do you have any more information on the plant crystallization technology route?”

Locke replied, “No, I don’t. I’ve been busy with other things lately, so I haven’t had the extra energy to focus on this technology route.”

On the other end of the Water Hyacinth System, in the Peach Garden Academy, Williams, sitting in his office with five third-class wizard apprentices in front of him, was stunned.

In the sunlight, Williams pursed his lips and said, “So, Teacher didn’t research this direction. As expected of a second-circle Grand Wizard, just giving me some things casually has actually helped my research.”

The five third-class wizard apprentices secretly exchanged glances, seemingly unable to recover from the emotional impact of Williams’ words.

Teacher Williams was already so powerful.

What kind of person was this “teacher” she spoke of?

Fear, along with awe and bewilderment at the vastness of the wizarding world, flickered in their eyes.

For them, becoming a third-class wizarding apprentice was an immense honor, but it turned out that this was just the beginning.

Williams pondered for a moment, then asked Locke, “I’m sorry, teacher, I didn’t know you weren’t pursuing this research direction. The further research I want to pursue now lacks the Frost Mirror. At Tongmo Peach Garden Academy, there’s only one Frost Mirror in the entire academy, and it’s controlled by the largest academic faction within the academy.”

“Only by joining their team and working for them, or by having a prior relationship with them, can one get a chance to use that Frost Mirror. For a wizard like me, it’s very difficult. Although it’s not impossible.”

“Teacher, I’d like to ask if you could let me use the Frost Mirror of Golden Crown Mountain. I know this request is unreasonable, but I can pay the magic stones required to use the Frost Mirror and give you an equivalent amount.”

Locke’s clone frowned after seeing this message, because Williams’ request, while seemingly easy to fulfill, was actually quite difficult.

He usually used the Frost Mirror of the True Knowledge Academy, and he had priority access to the Frost Mirrors in the various laboratories under the True Knowledge Academy. It was unreasonable for Williams, a wizard who had already left Golden Crown Mountain, to want to use it.

All the large equipment at Golden Crown Mountain has usage records.

While it’s possible to force it, it’s ultimately not ideal.

However, this is, after all, his first officially graduated wizard student.

She holds special significance for him.

Locke thought for a moment and replied, “No need for that. I’ll have Gregor go to your place and lend you one of my Ice Magic Mirrors.”

His current position in Group 2 is unique; he can use some equipment for free, especially things like the Ice Magic Mirror, which isn’t large equipment.

Williams thanked herself, “Thank you, teacher.”

“Thanks to your help, otherwise I might not have been able to touch the Frost Mirror for a year.”

She sent a thank-you image.

Locke paused, sent her a question mark, and then asked, “Tongmo Peach Garden is a long-established advanced academy under Golden Crown Mountain, how come its experimental conditions are so rudimentary?”

Williams replied, “Mainly because in the crystallization route of magical plants, directly crystallizing the original magical plant isn’t very difficult; many first-ring wizards can do it. So, everyone is scrambling for key equipment like the Frost Mirror, wanting their people to conduct experiments in this area.” “

Teacher, this is some data from my experiments; perhaps you’ll need it too.”

Locke received the data, glancing at the entire process of her crystallizing the tiger orchid. Locke had been watching the process very carefully.

He noticed that after the tiger orchid turned into a crystal tiger orchid, it did retain its growth ability, seemingly still a living magical plant. However, because Williams’ conditions were limited, she hadn’t done much of this part of the experiment.

After all, this kind of research wasn’t something an ordinary first-ring wizard like her needed to explore.

After reading it, Locke sent Williams a message: “Not bad, Williams, you’ve improved very quickly.”

Williams replied: “Thank you for your praise, teacher. Receiving your praise makes me even happier than winning a first-tier paper. Teacher, why don’t you pursue this magical plant technology?”

Locke frowned and replied with a wry smile: “It’s not that I don’t want to, but this magical plant crystallization route technology only appeared after I had already determined my future research direction, so it appeared too late. Besides, the route I’m thinking of might not be much worse than this one.”

“For an individual, personal interests are more important. At least for me, I don’t need to change my research goals. But Williams, you should continue your research, I fully support you.”

Locke thought for a moment and sent her a message: “If you need any resources later, you can also come to me. I feel that your magical pressure has recently increased by 80 points, it seems that this research has indeed given you positive feedback. Keep going.” “Williams

.”

In the office of the Peach Garden of Magic, Williams’ face was slightly flushed as she looked at the Ganoderma lucidum magical plant in her hand.

After graduating from Golden Crown Mountain, she finally realized just how accomplished the wizarding mentors she had encountered there truly were.

Only after embarking on the same path as Locke did she realize the vast difference between them.

At Golden Crown Mountain, she had misjudged the truly chasm-like gap in their social standing simply because she was Locke’s student. Golden Crown Mountain…

Williams

sighed. “Teacher, I will find a way to return to Golden Crown Mountain. Even though it will be difficult.”

It was indeed difficult.

While Peach Garden of Magic was the advanced academy of Golden Crown Mountain, only one in a hundred wizards could be promoted there to become a full-fledged wizard.

And even a full-fledged wizard position at Peach Garden of Magic would be highly sought after by full-fledged wizards elsewhere.

Williams made up her mind. Right now, she had Locke Augustine as a powerful figure to rely on, giving her a much brighter future than many full-fledged wizards at Peach Garden of Magic.

Only after leaving Golden Crown Mountain did she realize the value of having a powerful patron.

Right now, she was probably the only wizard among her colleagues who still had access to the Mirror of Ice.

Williams coughed as she looked up, brushing a strand of hair from her forehead. After so many years in the Peach Garden of Magic, she had grown into a wise witch.

Williams addressed them, “Which of you three wants to advance further? If you want to advance further, you need to do something for me…”

History repeats itself.

The three third-rank wizard apprentices, seeing Williams speaking to them, were terrified. Now, they all went berserk.

“Master, I… I’m willing to do something for you.”

“Mentor, I’m willing too. My abilities are stronger.”

Williams nodded coldly, expressionless.

…

After reviewing Williams’ research on the crystallization technology of magical plants, Locke knew that this technical route was indeed good, but unfortunately, it had absolutely nothing to do with his current pursuit of ancestral evolution.

Any further thought he had in this direction would be a waste of time.

However, he was currently facing a problem.

His research on ancestral evolution had no breakthrough.

In the library, Locke picked up the Ganoderma lucidum magical plant and contacted an old friend from his address book, an old friend from the Qionghua Enclave… Wizard Warwick.

Wizard Warwick quickly replied to his message.

“What’s the matter, Locke?” “

My dear Locke, our last expedition to the Abyss ruins was a great success, bringing me both fame and fortune. And we were very lucky back then. Now, the Abyss River has been significantly altered due to the Starfield Sea’s Ascension Plan.”

“Many Abyss ruins have been submerged in the Abyss River, and who knows how many years it will take before they are exposed to us again due to the change in course. What a tragedy! The Abyss River has been stable for tens of thousands of years, but it has undergone a huge change because of the Starfield Sea’s Ascension Plan.”

Locke was surprised to find that Wizard Warwick was already a second-circle wizard.

“Warwick, you’ve become a second-circle wizard?”

Warwick replied to his message, “Yes. I just became one this year. After winning the grand prize in the Starfield Sea with you guys last time, I received special training from the academy. The academy gave me a Worldstone as a reward, and with all my previous great gains, it’s normal for me to become a second-circle wizard now.”

“It’s a pity my friend failed to become a second-circle wizard. He even suffered permanent damage to his soul due to a failed major magic construction, his mana plummeted from crystallized to liquefied, and he probably won’t have a chance in this lifetime.”

Locke pondered for a moment. If an expert potion master spent a lot of effort repairing his soul, they should be able to restore his damaged potential.

However, Warwick’s friend, the archaeology wizard he knew, shouldn’t have that connection.

Warwick asked him, “Locke, didn’t you also become a second-circle wizard? And your mana is very powerful. By the way, how is your senior, the witch Shirley, doing now?”

Locke was silent for a moment.

Because he didn’t have any information about this senior.

The witch Shirley had been very helpful to him in the past, but unfortunately, the path of magical advancement was cruel, and those who had once walked this path were leaving one by one.

Finding companions on this path of pursuing truth was a difficult one.

Perhaps this was why he had been able to form stable friendships with people like Edgar and Hussein.

Locke changed the subject, saying, “Mr. Warwick, I have something I need your help with this time.”

He stated his purpose directly, because concealing his purpose from an archaeological wizard was pointless and would only invite suspicion.

“I’m looking for the whereabouts of the Black and White Grimoires.”

Warwick reacted immediately, sending him a series of messages.

“What? You’re looking for the Black and White Grimoire? I’m looking for it too! Our academy doesn’t have that kind of resource at all.”

“The Black and White Grimoire is only in the hands of a few major powers. Unless we’re treated like slaves, they’ll never give it to us. Do you have any information about the Black and White Grimoire?”

“I’m looking for it too. Archaeological wizards can’t advance any further without the Black and White Grimoire.”

Locke replied, “I have a travelogue that records the whereabouts of a certain Black and White Grimoire, but I need more information. I’d like to invite you over to discuss this with me. How long will it take? A month?”

Locke frowned. He needed to try to write a grant application without a breakthrough in the key direction, using the data from the golden spells given to him by the Russell Throne, combined with his achievements and data from his atavism, and supplementing some experiments.

But if he could achieve a key breakthrough before submitting the grant application, it would undoubtedly increase the chances of it being approved,

especially given the impact of the magic plant crystallization research route.

But if Old Warwick didn’t come for a month, his plans would undoubtedly be affected.

To his surprise, Warwick seemed even more anxious than he was, immediately saying, “I’ve been tomb raiding in the Three Swamps lately…”

He quickly retracted the previous statement.

“I’ve been doing archaeological work in the Three Swamps lately. Wait a minute, I can get from the Thunder Swamp Lowlands to your Cloud Swamp Wetlands in a day at most.”

“I recently opened a tomb called the Thunder King. Turns out it was a fake.”

Locke quickly looked up information on this so-called Thunder King and found that he was a famous wizarding lord from a despotic era, possessing thunder magic that was leading the Evocation school of that time. He had never been defeated before his death and was still regarded as a spiritual idol by wizards specializing in thunder magic.

Locke immediately sent him the information he had obtained and promised that if he could find the Black and White Grimoire with his help, he could give him possession of the Black and White Grimoire for a period of time.

This undoubtedly greatly stimulated Warwick.

Locke waited for a while, and then, after Warwick did not reply for a long time, asked him, “Well, do you have a way?”

“Don’t you have a way either?”

Warwick sent him a message.

“Although I don’t know why you’re looking for the author of this travelogue, or what it has to do with the Black and White Codex, I… do have a way. The Abyssal Werewolf’s Eye of Wisdom has the power to discern origins. You’ve forgotten, I once used my Eye of Wisdom to look at you.”

“If I shine my Eye of Wisdom on this travelogue, I might be able to find the author.”

“Alright, wait for me. I’ll be there within a day. You’re still at Golden Crown Mountain, right?”

Locke sent him a confirmation message.

“Yes, I’m still at Golden Crown Mountain.”

Locke hadn’t expected the turning point to come from a former collaborator.

Yes, the Abyssal Werewolf’s Eye of Wisdom is a divine skill of insight from the Abyss side; it could indeed help discern the origins of that travelogue.

Locke, filled with excitement, was about to leave the library when he encountered Douglas, who was hesitating at the library entrance.

Douglas seemed very indecisive, contemplating whether to enter the library.

Upon seeing Locke, his eyes lit up.

Locke asked, “You called for me? Douglas, what’s the matter?”

At this moment, the Witch King Lagmamon in Douglas’s mind spoke, “Don’t hesitate. Tell Locke about the treasure of Mount Golden Crown immediately. I originally thought he wouldn’t win the Golden Cup so easily, but things didn’t go as I expected.”

“If you delay any longer, I’m afraid it will become increasingly difficult to tell him. Just tell him directly.”

Douglas was uneasy.

“But teacher, the brandy incident has made me extremely afraid of this. If I tell Senior Locke about the second-ring treasure, what will he think of me…”

“Human hearts are unpredictable.”

The Witch King Lagmamon said in his mind, “Douglas, after all this time, can’t you still trust Locke Augustine’s character?”

Douglas was quite speechless.

Because it was his Witch King teacher who warned him never to spread this information, and it was also he who told him that human hearts are unpredictable.

How come after all this time, it seems like he was the one who was just imagining things.

Lagmamon the Wizard King said, “Augustine and Brandy are completely different. Locke is a true gentleman. And now, the only option is to invite him for help; otherwise, how can a first-ring wizard like you ask other second-ring wizards for help without worrying about being eaten?”

Douglas finally mustered his courage and spoke to Locke, “Young Locke, I want to tell you that I have the coordinates to an ancient treasure. I want to share it with you.”

Locke glanced at him and then gestured for him to be quiet.

“This isn’t the place to talk. Let’s go to my dormitory.”

“Follow me.”

Locke walked out of the library.

At this moment, Douglas was startled.

Because if they were in Locke’s dormitory, it would be entirely his territory.

Lagmamon the Wizard King urged in his mind, “Don’t worry. Given Locke Augustine’s character, he shouldn’t attack you for such a small benefit.”

“Follow him.”

Douglas gritted his teeth; he still chose to trust his Wizard King teacher and Locke, and followed.

In Locke’s dormitory, Locke saw that the other party had taken out a treasure map.

His expression was strange.

“You mean the treasure is inside the roots of the Black Hole Witch Peach?”

Douglas nodded firmly. “Yes. The location for the Black Hole Witch Peach was chosen specifically to utilize the unique environment of the treasure’s location.”
