Wizard: Starting With Synthesized Gems - Chapter 836
Chapter 833 First Attempt to Forge a Power System
The essence of the Leaf of Power is Locke’s voluntary transfer of a portion of the total magical pressure from the Forest Sanctuary.
Because his permanent defensive force field has transformed into a four-dimensional permanent defensive force field shell, this shell can now directly mobilize the power of his Forest Sanctuary.
This leads to a deeper connection between him and the Forest Sanctuary.
Using the permanent defensive force field shell, he can transfer a portion of the Forest Sanctuary’s energy into the leaves of the trees, condensing it into special life energy leaves, on which he can inscribe spell models, transforming them into special magical equipment as leaves of power.
This was inspired by the World Tree Leaf and was an attempt to replicate it.
Of course, at this moment, he can only utilize the power of the Forest Sanctuary in the Heidelberg Plane.
He must wait until the strength of the Forest Sanctuary in the Heidelberg Plane reaches a certain level and establishes a connection with his own Forest Sanctuary before he can draw energy from the Forest Sanctuary located in the subspace zone.
At this moment, Locke proceeded unhurriedly. He used the Moon Goddess’s Blessing Spell to enlighten an ordinary holly tree, then used the holly tree person as an avatar to walk through the forest.
“The power system is the core of Void Forging and the foundation for the flow of Great Magic.”
“But only a power system that meets three major requirements can be the currency for constructing a complete Star Forging Great Magic power system.”
“First, a second-ring being must be born under this power system. This could be a clone or avatar of oneself entering this system.”
“Second, this power system must be highly compatible with the wizard’s Great Magic, itself a highly abstract symbolic system of the wizard’s Great Magic power. After all, a so-called power system is simply abstracting one’s own Great Magic as a complete symbolic system, perfecting it, allowing it to produce a second-ring being, and thus fully maturing.”
“Third, this power system must be created from nothing. This is the core of Void Forging.”
Essentially, this entire power system is merely a highly abstract symbolic system summarizing one’s own Great Magic.
But having it is like one’s Great Magic gaining a soul, like a life plane gaining water resources.
Only one’s ultimate magic can deduce the future based on this system of power symbols.
To obtain this virtual rune system, one must have a deep understanding of their own power and a high level of knowledge about their own magical category.
Locke, however, had only recently become a second-circle wizard, making it difficult for him to construct a complete power system with his ultimate magic all at once.
But that didn’t matter. According to the magic books on the list recommended by the witch Catherine, he didn’t need to build the entire system at once.
He could take it one brick at a time.
This way, even if he went astray, it would be easy to turn back.
Some self-taught wizards often try to understand the entire magical category from the start to build the entire power system.
That’s counterproductive and can lead to going astray, which is difficult to correct.
At this moment, Locke, following the path of the World Tree leaves and all the botanical magic he had acquired along the way, created these power branches and leaves.
The holly tree’s twig fingers brushed against a perfectly intact leaf on an oak tree before them.
“This world has no magical plants, but that doesn’t matter. Even among ordinary plants, the oak tree represents sacred and natural power. Oak leaves are the best vessel.”
The holly treant’s finger traced across a leaf, leaving an apprentice-level spell model on it: [Plant Tricks].
“I’ve simplified the first-circle spell Plant Weapon into a third-class wizard apprentice-level spell: [Plant Tricks].”
This was something he, as a second-circle archmage, could easily do; after all, Plant Weapon was one of his favorite first-circle botanical spells.
Locke finished inscribing the spell model on the leaf, and golden runes appeared on it,
forming a unified whole .
Then, the leaf flew out automatically and landed on the holly treant controlled by Locke’s consciousness. Immediately, all the branches of the holly treant glowed with a vibrant green light.
“It works.” Locke exclaimed happily. He extended the treant’s palm, and a small flame appeared in his hand. He snapped his fingers with the treant’s hand, and a thunderclap boomed, followed by lightning without any visible flash.
The spells “All Plants Are Soldiers,” “Divine Plants,” and “A Single Tree Cannot Stand” all allow the manipulation of the power of any magical plant, essentially meaning the ability to control universal natural forces.
Locke simplified the “Divine Plants” spell model into “Plant Tricks,” which essentially allow the use of the energy of surrounding ordinary grasses and flowers to create natural phenomena, such as a small flame appearing out of thin air on one’s finger or a gentle breeze.
These tricks are practically useless
, but in this world, they are enough to demonstrate one’s power.
Next, Locke spent some time, using two other nearby oak trees, and with their consent, selected two healthy leaves from each tree as the leaves to carry the power of the Forest Sanctuary, and inscribed spells on them.
The first spell was a simplification of the original 0.2-ring spell model “Hand of Vines” for a second-tier wizard apprentice, creating a 0.1-ring spell model called “Hand of Plants.”
The second spell was a simplification of the original 0.5-level spell model, Wild Grass Entanglement, into a 0.1-level Grass and
Tree Entanglement. These two Power Leaves automatically flew into Locke’s canopy, and the Holly Tree Spirit twice emitted a vibrant green glow, signifying that it had effortlessly mastered [Hand of Grass and Trees], [Grass and Tree Tricks], and [Grass and Tree Entanglement].
“Let’s try inscribing a more advanced spell model on the Power Leaves,”
Locke thought. He chose an oak tree, gathering Power Leaves in its canopy and attempting to inscribe a 0.2-level Vine Hand, the first spell model he had learned in the wizarding world.
Suddenly, the Power Leaves collapsed.
“Not yet. With my current knowledge and understanding of botany, as well as my high level of abstract thinking, I’m not yet capable of inscribing a 0.2-level spell onto the Leaf of Power.”
“This Leaf of Power, after all, grants mortals spellcasting power out of thin air, constructing its own system. The difficulty isn’t in inscribing a mere 0.2-level spell. That’s easy for me. The difficulty lies in inscribing a 0.2-level spell within this system that bestows power upon the leaf, and instilling that power in the recipient.”
“However, I imagine that before inscribing a first-level spell, I should only need some practice to accomplish it. After all, according to the logic of my Leaf of Power system, the one who possesses power isn’t the individual, but the leaf.”
Locke realized that his power system was still rather rudimentary. The best way to observe the depth of a power system was to look at the number of people who wielded it and the upper limit of their power level.
First, his Power Leaf currently only had a 0.1 ring as its upper limit.
And not to mention the number of people who could wield it—only two: his avatar and his native student from the Louis plane.
“Moreover, this makes it easy to over-issue currency,”
Locke realized. His actions of creating Power Leaves using nature magic within the ecological communities of the Forest Sanctuary and the Evolution Moon were essentially printing money at will.
If he over-issued, wouldn’t his entire system collapse?
However, since he had only constructed a 0.1 ring level Power Leaf, this small amount of power borrowing wouldn’t cause him any pressure, so there was no pressure to over-issue at the moment.
This was also the advantage of building a power system little by little, rather than all at once.
Locke pondered his experience in creating Power Leaves.
“Next time, it would be best to add a spell slot restriction. Each ranger possessing a Leaf of Power can only use a certain number of spells per day, and cannot exceed the limit. Now, the Leaf of Power I created can infinitely draw power from my forest sanctuary and ecosystem in this plane.”
“That means the owner has no limit on the number of spells they can cast.”
“That’s not right. However, in this World War, I’m just conducting an experiment. This level of power utilization is unlikely to backfire. Let’s leave it at that for now.”
At this moment, Locke noticed two people running wildly at the edge of the forest, so he adopted the slow steps of a treant and headed towards them.
‘This world still retains extremely powerful natural forces. Unlike the Louis plane, where the entire plane’s will is suppressed and hijacked by the Burial Ground.’ ‘
But this world possesses three Life Stealing Instruments, so naturally it still retains such powerful forces. Yes, this is related to the structural nature of Great Magic. The Burial Ground requires deceiving the world’s power to reverse the cause and effect of life and death.’
‘But the Life Stealing Instruments are different.’ It steals the power of life. This plane naturally maintains a very strong ability to resist. Now that this plane has sent these two people to my side, it’s obvious that these two are definitely the chosen ones of this world. ‘
…
In the jungle, Jack, holding Susan’s hand, ran swiftly through the foliage. The horses they used for escape had their necks snapped by the terrifying monster behind them.
Jack dared to swear to the God of Light that he had never seen such a powerful monster.’
The horse’s neck was incredibly thick, but in an instant, it was snapped by the humanoid monster with a beastly face and blood-sucking fangs, and then it was reduced to a bloodthirsty savagery.
Susan, panting, shouted to Jack in front of her, “I can’t run anymore. I can’t, Jack, you run first.”
“I can’t breathe. I might vomit…you run first.”
Jack turned his head and, as a man from a small, rural noble family, nearly had his heart leap out of his chest. Behind him was a monster with abnormally pale, crackled porcelain skin. The monster barely maintained its human form, possessing a pair of ghastly white bat wings and a wolf-like chin.
What on earth was this thing?
Jack had only attended a small gathering of rebels secretly opposing the corruption of the church.
Who knew that such a monster would infiltrate their gathering and wreak havoc, wiping out almost everyone in an instant?
Only he and Susan were lucky enough to escape, finding a relatively obedient and capable warhorse in the stables.
In the darkness, a pair of large, scarlet eyes reflected on the vampire monster’s pale face.
Jack, who was pulling Susan along, seemed to hear the vampire’s gaze behind him, and the stench and terrifying, lifeless sounds.
He heard the vampire’s footsteps, as if they were right next to his ear.
‘We’re doomed.’
Despair filled Jack’s heart. Reason told him to abandon Susan, but emotion made him hold onto her hand tightly.
He was practically dragging Susan away.
If he let go, Susan, who couldn’t run anymore, would become the monster’s prey.
Most importantly, his reason also told him that even if he abandoned Susan, he might not be able to escape.
Unless, of course, he had a warhorse in front of him.
“Ah!”
Susan screamed.
Jack drew a small knife from his waist, turned, and glared at the monster behind him. Since he couldn’t escape, he might as well fight it to the death; perhaps there was still a chance.
It was better than being chased by the monster like a weak rabbit, losing all his strength and dying.
But when he turned his head, he was startled. He saw several wild grasses wrapped around the vampire monster behind him.
The grasses grew rapidly, binding the monster.
The monster angrily tried to tear the vines apart.
But the next moment, a vine lashed out and struck him hard.
“Roar!”
The vampire monster screamed. In Jack’s eyes, this was the most terrifying monster in the world. Under this lash, its body convulsed, and it staggered backward.
The vine left a deep wound on its body.
Then, a vine pierced its heart. In an instant, the low-level blood servant, who wasn’t even a true vampire, screamed, its body engulfed in flames, and turned to ashes.
Jack and Susan crouched on the ground in
fright, still shaken.
Susan gasped for breath.
“Could it be that the church is full of monsters? No wonder those adults looked so terrified when they mentioned the church. They weren’t afraid of the church’s god, they were afraid of these monsters within! How could this be!”
“But who saved us?”
Jack turned to Locke, who was observing the situation, and said uncertainly, “Maybe it wasn’t a person? Maybe a tree?”
Susan also turned to look.
The two were unsure whether to run away.
Because no matter what, a tree that could move on its own and looked like a small giant didn’t seem much safer than the vampire monster they had just encountered.
Susan gritted her teeth and said, “The Treeman saved us, it must be a good person. And even if it wasn’t, I can’t run anymore.”
Jack nodded and said, “If it wasn’t a good person, it wouldn’t have saved us. By the God of Light, I repent for every tree I’ve ever cut down.”
Locke walked towards them and said, “There’s no need for that.”
“Using trees normally is even beneficial to the forest. Jack, all things follow the principle of balance.”
Jack’s eyes widened.
“You know my name? Do you know me?”
“Respected Treeman,”
Locke said, “To be precise, I am not a Treeman.”
“As for your name, this world told me.”
An honest man doesn’t do things in secret; there’s no need for him to deceive the two young natives.
The moment he approached them, he immediately gained the world’s approval and entered the state of [Doing as He pleases without overstepping the bounds].
In this way, he could know many things through the principles of this world’s planes.
Essentially, this state of his was a semi-saintly state.
Perhaps due to the nature guardians’ influence, coupled with the world’s anger at the ritual of the three vampire wizards, he surprisingly received the world’s support when he approached these two chosen ones.
He only needed to help the world restore some of its power to perform a saintly descent here, sending down his saintly avatar.
At this moment, Locke’s true form was above the world’s crystal system, looking down upon its land. Locke’s true form and his treant avatar spoke simultaneously to the two: “Jack, Susan, your parents and relatives have all been killed by those monsters. Those monsters are called vampires, living on blood. Your king, your superior lords, your church bishops—all have been replaced by those vampires.”
Jack and Susan were filled with despair.
The monsters were so powerful, having replaced all the rulers of their world.
What would become of them?
Jack asked the treant, “So the treants in the forest are resisting them?”
The holly treant scratched its head.
“Resist? Aren’t you overestimating those powerless, mindless weaklings? Jack? They’re resisting me, not me resisting them.”
Jack and Susan stared wide-eyed in disbelief.
Locke said, “I can give you power. I can lend you the power of nature to become a Ranger, but you must fight for the forest. Are you willing?”
Jack didn’t hesitate.
“I am willing, my Tree Lord.”
