Wizard: Starting With Synthesized Gems - Chapter 824
Chapter 821: A loan of 30 million magic stones!
The magic carriage drove away directly.
The first-class wizard apprentices, seeing that Locke’s magic carriage completely ignored them and simply left, became anxious. Their pupils shrank dramatically. Heavily cursed, they knew their only hope lay with Locke inside the magic carriage.
They were all wizard apprentices, and in this remote mortal country, they had no access to any processed magical resources. As first-class apprentices, they naturally lacked the ability to process these raw magical resources.
Or rather, their processing efficiency was appalling.
Their only chance was to plead with the official wizard inside the carriage, which had happened to pass through this mortal country.
Although they didn’t know the rank or status of the official wizard inside the magic carriage,
the five first-class wizard apprentices frantically chased after Locke’s magic carriage.
“My lord, please save us! We are students of Arnos Academy, a higher academy under Little Rest Mountain. We have been attacked by a dark wizard and cursed. We…”
The five suddenly stopped, their shadows falling to the ground, from which emerged a skeletal undead.
The skeletal undead exhaled a necromantic aura, and the five first-class wizard apprentices froze in place, their pupils rapidly losing their life force. Then, the five skeletons approached them.
Moments later, the skeletal undead seemed to don clothes, transforming into five low-level liches wearing wizard robes, their white robes quickly turning black. The
five liches lingered for a while, then floated towards the nearest major city of this mortal kingdom.
Not far away, in a magical carriage, Locke sensed the lingering magical pressure of the five low-level lich servants slowly departing and sneered.
“At this point, are they still trying to lure me there?”
“Who is behind this? The Rose Council? No, I just left the Rose Council. If something happened, it would be too obvious. Besides, the witch Lana didn’t inform me.”
“Who else could it be?”
“Or is it not targeting me, but rather a trap for every wizard who approaches this area? This location is Yunze District 1, one of the ten districts of Yunze Wetlands. There are no top-tier wizarding universities here, only medium-sized wizarding colleges.”
“Anyway, I’m used to it. It’s always better to go straight back to Golden Crown Mountain.”
Locke said to the vaporized wizard driving the carriage, “Go directly to Golden Crown Mountain. No matter what happens, don’t stop.”
The vaporized wizard cautiously replied, “Yes, sir.”
Locke sat in the carriage and began reading the documents in his hands.
“The wizarding world is still very dangerous and mysterious.”
After a while, the vaporized wizard driving the magic carriage saw a group of refugees on the post road ahead. The refugees all seemed to have signs of plague.
They wailed on the road, their eyes lighting up at the sight of a lavishly decorated magical carriage. They approached it,
crying, “Help! A plague has broken out in the city ahead!”
“Please, sir, help us! We beg you!”
But the magical carriage didn’t stop. Its hellhorses leaped into the air, and the entire carriage sped through the air without pause.
Since there were obstacles on land, the vapor wizard simply chanted a spell, using a soul contract to control the hellhorses, and the carriage took to the skies, disappearing into the distance.
In the nearby forest, two high-ranking liches whispered amongst themselves.
“We finally managed to get a second-ring wizard to pass through this mortal country, but we couldn’t fool him at all. After all, he’s a second-ring wizard. If it were a first-ring wizard, we could just intercept him on the way. But if it’s a second-ring wizard, unless we lure him into a magic array, we have no guarantee of victory. It’s a pity that we tried to lure him three times, but he didn’t fall for it even once.”
“Should we try again? I don’t believe he’ll be completely unmoved, or that he has no interest in the mysterious plague that has appeared in this mortal country. Should we try again?”
“Forget it. He traveled by land without stopping for anything. If we intercept him in the air, it will probably only arouse his vigilance even more. I checked his spirituality; he’s not the target. Letting him go won’t hurt. He was just an extra, a mere snack.”
“Hehe. We should seize this opportunity when the Starfield Sea has raised the magic tide of fifty-three wizarding lands at once. Hahahaha…”
…
As soon as the magic carriage left this mortal country located in the Cloud Marsh District 1, Locke lifted the curtain and looked back at the ground behind him.
“Looks like it wasn’t aimed at me.”
“I must have unintentionally stumbled into a trap set by some wizard, or for some purpose. The wizarding world is quite dangerous. I’ve been living in one of the seven top wizarding universities, and that’s why I feel this society is so orderly and well-defined.”
“I think even in those smaller wizarding universities, order and law aren’t so strictly enforced.”
Locke said, “Although you can deal with whatever comes your way, I wouldn’t be foolish enough to walk right into someone else’s trap.”
“Sigh. I thought they would hunt me down so I could retaliate. I’m really broke lately, and I need some unscrupulous wizards to donate money to me.”
“It’s a pity that those wizards who set the trap have good willpower; they didn’t even chase after me.”
Locke opened the Water Hyacinth System and marked the location on its built-in map function so he could avoid it next time he passed by.
“It’s strange, though. The necromancers who disappeared in the Cloud Marsh Wetlands have become quite active in the wizarding world lately.”
Locke opened the Water Hyacinth System and saw that the wizard from the Little Rest Cup tournament committee office had already added him as a friend.
This Star Ring Wizard sent him a message directly, “Wizard Augustine, I am a staff member of the Little Rest Cup tournament committee. You can call me Serlo.”
“I have already communicated with your senior brother. After our tournament committee’s discussion, we believe that your research on the targeted reversion of the two types of foxtail grass is very promising. Therefore, we are willing to provide five million magic stones to support your research and use it to participate in the Little Rest Cup held by our Little Rest Mountain. What do you think?”
“If there are no questions, we can sign a contract.”
Locke looked at the contract sent by the other party, confirmed that there were no problems, and replied, “Of course, we can sign a contract.”
Anyway, he was going to find a competition to vote for, so it didn’t matter who he voted for.
Wizard Celer seemed to be in a good mood. “Alright. I can send you a contract; you can just sign your name. Since it’s horizontal funding, we can directly deposit one million magic stones into your account. If you need further funding later, you can apply to me for additional funds.”
Wizard Celer said, “Money is a small matter. As long as the quality of your final project is high enough.”
Inside the magic carriage, Locke looked at Wizard Celer’s words and fell into thought.
“It seems that Little Rest Mountain is indeed eager for a high-quality championship project to help them elevate the status of the Little Rest Cup.”
“This is the first time I’ve seen someone so readily transfer funds.”
“They don’t even need to go through the finance department; they can transfer the money directly to me.” Are they
that eager for excellent projects to participate?
Locke replied to Wizard Celer, “Yes, Lord Celer.”
Locke thought, “After I go back this time, I can complete this project first.”
“In addition, there is the Golden Cup Flying Magic Plant Competition.”
Locke carefully read the specific requirements of this competition.
The main form of this Flying Magic Plant Competition is a sports meet, where second-ring breeders hire athletes to participate voluntarily, and the highest magic level of the participants can only be an ordinary first-ring wizard.
They piloted second-circle magical plants, flying along a track prepared by the competition committee at the boundary between light and shadow. Whoever reached the final finish line the fastest would be the champion.
Clearly, the restriction on the magical level of flying wizards was intended to reduce the impact of the user’s skill level on the performance of the flying magical plants.
Although first-circle wizards couldn’t use second-circle magical plants at all, this problem could be solved by having a second-circle wizard pre-cast second-circle botanical magic on the plant.
The skill level difference between ordinary first-circle wizards was insufficient to affect the performance of the second-circle magical plants; thus, the competition primarily tested the basic skill level of the second-circle flying magical plants.
Locke opened the data package within the Water Hyacinth System, and a track in the orange-red sky appeared before him.
“Hmm? So it’s the Sky Illusion Realm. The competition track is in the Ancient Sky Illusion Realm.”
Locke immediately recognized it as a special plane where he had almost signed a contract with a Crystallized Wizard.
“The track is mostly straight with only a few curves, which means the outcome is almost entirely determined by the magical plant’s characteristics,”
Locke said thoughtfully.
“The participants are limited to ordinary second-ring wizards, meaning my opponents are only ordinary second-ring wizards. This competition recommended by my senior brother really suits my current needs.”
“However, this means I’ll probably encounter some familiar opponents in this competition.”
Again ,
the second-ring wizards of Yunze Wetlands are in dire need of resources.
It’s likely that even second-ring researchers from the Advanced True Knowledge Institute of Golden Crown Mountain will participate, as will likely include some second-ring wizards from the Rose Witch lineage.
Locke pondered, “Actually, this competition might not be impossible for me to exploit. The Ancient Sky Illusion Realm… if I could enter it and use the Moon Cultivation Method to allow my flying magical plant to evolve rapidly, I could gain adaptive evolution within the Ancient Sky Illusion Realm.”
“Besides, the Ancient Sky Illusion Realm greatly welcomes flying species and is very interested in true dragon bloodlines and dragon races. The unique feature of that plane is that dragons have a distinct advantage there. My Magical Dragon Rose should be able to shine there.”
“My chances of winning this competition aren’t small.”
Locke took out the Magical Dragon Rose and the Great Azure Leaf Dragon Sparrow from the carriage.
“The Great Azure Leaf Dragon Sparrow is adapted to my spirituality and magic, to my traits and fighting style, while the Magical Dragon Rose shares the same origin as my magical dragon bloodline.”
“If I could combine the power of both to develop a new magical plant, it would be very beneficial to me personally.”
“I don’t have any ideas for now. Wait a moment.”
Locke pondered.
“The Great Azure Leaf Dragon Sparrow is a mimicry of a dragon. I can use the Moon of Evolution to elevate it to a second-ring magical plant. Then, I can use the Synthesis Cube and the Blooming and Falling of Flowers to elevate it again.”
“But if we want to seriously breed it before that, we can consult some literature related to [Winged Fruits].”
A winged fruit is a special fruit in botany, its core characteristic being that the pericarp extends outwards, transforming into thin sheets or wings, allowing it to travel across oceans and circulate between various islands.
Powerful winged fruits can even move between different worlds and even traverse the void.
[Winged Fruits] aren’t a particularly important concept at the first-ring stage, but they are crucial at the second-ring stage because they are the entry point for studying second-ring flying magical plants, and also one of the reasons why the same types of magical plants and magical creatures appear in various planes of the void.
Once a winged fruit matures, in order to spread the fruit to areas where it can grow better, or because it is believed that the local environment can no longer support the growth of the same magical plant, it will leave this world and travel to other worlds.
In this process, it may take away a large number of local magical creatures and plants.
One hypothesis suggests that Winged Fruits like to help local magical plants and animals travel to other worlds in order to ensure that the local ecology of the new worlds they travel to remains similar to that of their native world.
This ensures that the seeds within the winged fruit can properly take root and germinate.
In short, the [winged fruit system] of magical plants does indeed enable communication between the various planes within the void; therefore, researching second-ring flying magical plants requires studying the winged fruit.
Essentially, the Dragon Rose used by Locke is a hybrid; it’s not a flying magical plant at all, but rather a second-ring magical plant with some flight ability. This
is because the Dragon Rose lacks the [winged fruit system].
Locke pondered in the carriage, “If I graft a small piece of the Dragon Rose’s petal onto the Great Green Leaf Dragon Sparrow, and then let the Great Green Leaf Dragon Sparrow undergo [atavism], wouldn’t that activate the Great Green Leaf Dragon Sparrow—the hidden essence of the dragon bloodline within the Dragon Rose?”
“This would also be very beneficial to me personally.”
The dragon bloodline has always been shrouded in mystery.
Using this method, I can further explore this mysterious bloodline.
Similarly, I could even use the same method to reproduce the Three-Eyed Tiger Cat’s bloodline essence on a magical plant.
“The bolder you are, the more you can get,”
Locke thought. “If only I could get the Rose Throne to use magic on me again, extracting the bloodline from one of my avatars and turning it into a Three-Eyed Tiger-Eyed Cat Flower.”
“Alas, such opportunities are rare. If the Rose Throne realizes what’s happening, I might really die.”
The Red Dragon Throne and the Rose Throne are already close to fighting; if I were to walk right into their trap, how could they refuse?
Besides, I don’t have a second World Wonder.
Locke thought, “But using grafting and atavism, it is indeed possible to give the Great Green Leaf Dragon Sparrow the characteristics of a Demon Dragon bloodline.” “
Similarly, by mapping the essence of the Demon Dragon bloodline onto a magical plant, I can… use the Queen’s Chessboard and various magical mirrors to sequence its bloodline factors! If I’m lucky, I can even sequence all the bloodline factors within the essence of an entire Demon Dragon bloodline!”
Locke’s heart pounded as he thought of this.
When he was working in various laboratories, he had sought help from bloodline wizards at the True Knowledge Institute to try and sequence the essence of the dragon’s bloodline, but all attempts failed.
Both the dragon’s and the Three-Eyed Tiger Cat’s bloodline essences were specially encrypted, making them difficult to sequence.
This is also why the bloodline essences of advanced magical creatures in bloodline studies are so difficult to analyze.
But if it could be analyzed, he could find someone to help him perfect and shape his bloodline… the possibilities were endless!
Locke’s eyes gleamed.
“Leaving aside the dragon’s bloodline, the Three-Eyed Tiger Cat’s bloodline has already become my foundation. If I can find a way to further advance the Three-Eyed Tiger Cat’s bloodline, even without breaking through to the third ring, reaching the Star Ring, Lunar Ring, or Solar Ring would be possible.”
“Then the path forward wouldn’t be blocked.”
The World Tree had previously given him a hint: to break through to the third ring, he needed to find the World Tree’s fruit.
But this was a condition for breaking through from the second to the third ring.
The World Tree hadn’t told him how the Three-Eyed Tiger Cat’s bloodline evolved into the Star Ring, but now he seemed to have found a clue.
Although the hope was still very slim.
After all, he couldn’t very well run up to the Rose Throne and expect the Throne Wizard to cooperate with him.
“So, first I need to complete the project that Teacher Sophia gave me. It’s to allow my Evolution Moon to undergo a reversion to its ancestral form. Once that’s achieved, I can use the Dragon Rose to recreate the essence of the dragon bloodline in my Great Green Leaf Dragon Sparrow.”
“Such a second-circle flying magical plant, regardless of its magical plant characteristics, will certainly easily gain the favor of the Ancient Sky Illusion Realm. Winning the Golden Cup will be a piece of cake.”
“Moreover, this process will greatly benefit my ultimate magic. Quickly completing projects not only allows me to acquire resources but also significantly improves my academic level. And that’s the foundation of me as a wizard.” “
I need to complete the Great Green Leaf Dragon Sparrow’s dragon transformation project to bring my breeding level close to, or even reach, that of a second-circle breeder. I can’t neglect potion-making either; I can start learning a new second-circle potion next month.”
Locke was quite troubled, but learning potion-making also required a lot of energy and resources.
Ultimately, he was short of money.
Locke said, “I could look for any potion-related quests or projects. I could also try selling my practice pieces. In my opinion, for my ultimate magic to reach the Star Ring stage, my potion-making skills will probably need to reach a certain level.”
Three days later, the magic carriage arrived at Golden Crown Mountain.
Locke’s main body entered Golden Crown Mountain. After traveling for over two months, he finally completed the second-ring pure magic plant wizard shoes.
Locke left the magic carriage, paid 10,000 magic stones, and stepped onto the gates of Golden Crown Mountain.
The treant elder at the gate led the treants to bow to him.
“I’ve returned safely, though.”
Locke relaxed. This trip had taught him that not all places outside are entirely orderly.
Locke saw someone on the Water Hyacinth System trying to add him as a friend. It turned out to be a wizard from the Seven-Colored Nursery. He first arranged to meet the wizard manager of the Wizard Bank at 4 PM that afternoon in the Witch’s Kitchen, private room number 1, in Dragon Blood Market to discuss loan matters.
Next, Locke accepted the friend request from the second-circle wizard at Seven Colors Nursery.
An ordinary second-circle wizard was likely a formal wizarding mentor from a wizarding organization like Seven Colors Nursery.
Soon, the second-circle wizard from Seven Colors Nursery sent a message.
“Hello, this is Jeep.”
The other party placed himself very humbly.
“Wizard Augustine, I saw your second-circle wizard shoes for sale on the Water Hyacinth website, and I’m very interested in them. To be honest, we at Seven Colors Nursery are preparing for a void exploration soon, and we desperately need inexpensive wizard shoes.”
Locke sent him a question mark.
Jeep seemed to realize there was something wrong with his words.
“I’m sorry, it was my fault, Wizard Augustine. I didn’t mean to insult your wizard shoes, but they are indeed of excellent quality and inexpensive, while our Seven Colored Nursery is a wizarding organization far inferior to Golden Crown Mountain.” Locke messaged him,
“We don’t have any spare funds. I’ve noticed that it seems orders can no longer be placed on the Arthas platform. Could you sell us ten more pairs of second-ring wizard shoes?”
Locke continued, “Which world are you going to explore?”
Jeep seemed to hesitate for a moment, but still replied, “To be precise, it’s a meteorite plane cluster in the void. It’s called the Dolma Meteorite Cluster, and there’s a special life form on it called Rainbow Slimes. Rainbow Slimes’ blood is excellent nutrient soil material, and research on Rainbow Slimes isn’t very detailed yet. My research group’s main focus right now is to figure out why Rainbow Slime blood, as fertilizer, affects the color of the leaves of the magical plants grown from it.”
“Wizard Augustine, Golden Crown Mountain and Seven-Colored Nursery have a deep friendship. Could you please give Seven-Colored Nursery some more shares?”
Locke frowned, surprised that his second-ring wizard shoes were so popular because of their low price.
It seems wizard shoes are very necessary in many situations.
It’s just that the high price and bundled sales previously deterred many wizarding organizations from purchasing them.
“Strange, why can’t the price of Solas’s Barefoot and Melochy’s Magic Step be lowered so that wizarding organizations and individual wizards who can’t afford wizard shoes can also buy second-ring wizard shoes?”
Locke was puzzled.
“Never mind, this has nothing to do with me.”
Locke replied to Jeep, “Hello, Wizard Jeep. I do plan to continue increasing the sales of my first second-ring wizard shoes. Don’t worry, around 5 pm today, I will be able to confirm how many pairs of second-ring wizard shoes I will increase production.”
“You can wait patiently.”
Wizard Jeep sent Locke a message.
“That’s great.”
“Wizard Locke, the seven garden masters of our Seven-Colored Garden have a very close relationship with your lineage. Being able to use the wizard shoes you designed is a more reassuring thing for us. We have great trust in the second-ring wizard shoes you designed. So, I await your good news.”
Locke suddenly realized.
So the Seven-Colored Garden was part of his lineage.
“The interests of academic factions and wizarding universities are sometimes not entirely equivalent. The academy has its own interests, and so does the academic faction. Of course, even factions within the academy have their own interests to consider,”
Locke pondered.
“Just like the Three Kings Tournament and the Silent Grail Tournament, the three major factions within the academy each had their own interests to consider, leading to a series of events.”
He first returned to his dormitory, and then in the afternoon, as agreed, arrived at the Dragonblood Gathering. In VIP room number 1, he found three goblin wizards clad in white wizarding robes:
two crystallized wizards and one second-ring wizard.
The ordinary second-ring wizard ran his long-fingered fingers over the ledger in his hand. Upon seeing Locke enter, he stood up from his seat, even though he was about the same height as the seat.
The second-ring goblin wizard coughed and said to the waiter, “Waiter, your stools are too high. Please get me a stool that fits my height!”
Then, the second-ring goblin wizard looked at Locke.
“Wizard Augustine, I’ve seen your request. You want a loan of thirty million magic stones?”
“I need your shop alliance’s cash flow statements.”
Locke handed him the documents.
“What’s your name?”
The fairy wizard looked at the statements, his brow furrowed so deeply it seemed he could trap a fly.
“Your shop alliance has a lot of cash flow, but why isn’t there any asset left?”
“You have almost no savings,”
Locke said. “That proves my shop alliance is developing rapidly.”
The fairy wizard said, “But that doesn’t make sense to me. The better a shop alliance develops, the more cash flow it generates, the more savings it accumulates, and the stronger its ability to withstand risks. Your statements are unlikely to secure a loan of thirty million magic stones.”
“Unless you’re not using the shop alliance to borrow money, but rather in your own name. Or perhaps you can provide some collateral?”
Locke frowned; he sensed a dangerous undercurrent. (End of Chapter
