Chapter 808 Creating Small Groups and Themed Activities

A month later, Locke, in his dormitory at the Golden Crown Mountain True Knowledge Academy, contacted Christine’s student through the Gray Mist Slab.

Because of the Green Witch’s cooperative relationship with Lilith Hut Academy, her student signed a contract with Lilith Hut under the guise of joint training. This meant

that after becoming a formal wizard using the Forest Sanctuary, she would first serve Lilith Hut for thirty years before returning to teach at Four Seasons Garden.

The reason such stringent conditions could be achieved was that Four Seasons Garden had severely declined during the Black and White Wizarding War, while Lilith Hut had significantly strengthened due to Locke’s influence.

Furthermore, it seemed that Harlen Vera and Headmaster Earl of Lilith Hut were preparing to use their influence to restore Lilith Hut to the top-ranked wizarding academy in the Southeast Corner.

Locke had no objections to this.

As always, the better the wizarding university he attended, the more advantageous it would be for him.

If the wizarding university she came from wasn’t particularly prestigious, that was fine; she could simply take a slightly unconventional path to elevate it.

Meanwhile, Ivy, a student of the Green Witch, under Locke’s guidance, successfully used three red holly bushes to inscribe runes, creating a permanent defensive field on her soul.

Ivy, a newly appointed wizard, appeared extremely weak in the image on the Gray Mist Slab, yet her eyes shone with intense excitement.

For safety reasons, her Forest Sanctuary was located within the research institute in the Forbidden Forest. The institute had ample magical fields, and Lilith’s Hut, with Locke’s permission and arrangements, frequently entered and exited the Forbidden Forest, moving vast amounts of magical resources to the institute and restarting it.

She also connected the institute with Lady Morgana’s Magic Garden.

This made the research institute a suitable location for the Forest Sanctuary.

Unlike Locke, these wizards didn’t need to consider moving to higher-level wizarding territories; therefore, placing the Forest Sanctuary in a location where the academy could provide centralized protection was ideal.

Moreover, because of Locke’s connections, the research institute could be protected by the Forbidden Forest.

At the same time, everyone tacitly agreed that choosing that institute was also to get closer to Locke.

However, in the Cloud Marsh Wetlands and the Starfield Sea, only third-ring wizards were qualified to cultivate their lineage; before that, everyone else was just part of a regular network of connections. Therefore, this unspoken understanding remained unspoken.

At this moment, Witch Ivy, though weak, had extremely joyful eyes and said to Locke, “Thank you, Teacher Augustine, thank you for your guidance. It allowed me to complete the Forest Sanctuary and become a formal wizard.”

“Thank you as well, Teacher Christine,”

Witch Christine and Wizard Harlen Vera stood beside her, nodding with great satisfaction.

“Now you are a formal wizard. Because of the experiments, my skin turned green, while during your apprenticeship, in order to combine the plant cells of the Red Starfish with your own cells and gain the special ability of photosynthesis, your entire body turned red.”

“Then you shall be called the Scarlet Witch from now on.”

The Scarlet Witch, Ivy, immediately bowed to Christine, saying, “Thank you for bestowing this title upon me, teacher.”

Locke said to Ivy, “Scarlet Witch, according to the contract you signed with me before, I will hang my Evolutionary Moon in your Forest Sanctuary.”

“You are the third lower-level forest under my command.”

The forest in the Louis plane was a branch forest of his Forest Sanctuary, while this Scarlet Witch’s Forest Sanctuary was a lower-level forest.

The Forest Alliance relies on its immense magic, the Forest Ecological Corridor, and the contract Hussein created himself, building upon these three elements to

form a very unique ecosystem that exists only within the wizards themselves.

This path was entirely completed by Locke by chance, but it seems its future development is quite promising.

The Scarlet Witch bowed to Locke.

“Great Wizard Augustine, I am deeply honored to join your Lower Forest Project.”

She quickly expressed her loyalty to Locke, eager to show her closeness to him.

“Great Wizard Augustine, I will nurture my forest well, making our Forest Alliance even stronger.”

Locke nodded and closed the communication.

With the successful training of two wizards who had reached the first-ring level using the Forest Sanctuary at the Myster Power Research Center in Lilith’s Hut, the research center’s training system was now largely complete.

As time passed, he could leverage the research center and the foundation he had established to ensure the emergence of more and more wizards using the Forest Sanctuary.

Locke pondered, “Although it’s too early to think like this, I guess I’m preparing for my future studies.”

“However, ultimately, it’s only because of the [Forest Sanctuary] that I developed a series of related magics.”

Locke walked out of his dormitory and ran into Daniel in the corridor. Daniel, sporting dark circles under his eyes, paused for a moment upon seeing Locke before saying, “Locke, good evening. By the way, Locke, there’s something you might have heard. I heard it from my colleagues at the Advanced Truth Academy of Weather Masters from the previous year.”

“It’s about the second-circle researchers at the Advanced Truth Academy of Golden Crown Mountain. They created a group using the Water Hyacinth System for next year’s special grant application. They exchange information and share resources in that group to increase their chances of getting the application approved.”

Locke paused slightly.

Daniel cautiously asked Locke,

“Locke, did you go in?”

Locke shook his head.

Daniel seemed thoughtful.

“So, you just became a second-circle wizard this year, and they didn’t include you, right?”

“So, you’re being ostracized?”

Locke smiled. “More or less. But I don’t mind.”

“Thank you for telling me this.”

Locke thought for a moment and guessed that he was indeed being ostracized for several reasons.

First, he had just become a second-circle wizard, and others were bound to be more resistant to newcomers.

Second, he had only been in the Advanced Institute of Truth for a year, so in other people’s eyes, he wasn’t in a hurry to apply for special funding, and applying now was seen as an infringement on other people’s resources.

In addition, he didn’t usually mingle with the researchers in the Advanced Institute of Truth, and he interacted with even fewer people than Daniel, so it was easy for him to be isolated.

Locke said to Daniel, “There’s no need to join this kind of group.”

He nodded slightly to Daniel and said, “I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll take my leave.”

Locke looked at the message Scarlett had sent him. Ever since he deliberately let the old pirate Henry go a month ago, the old pirate seemed to have activated his power after returning, causing a large number of wizards in the Void Pirates to cancel their orders for Solas’s Lightfoot.

Of course, this was mainly because the pirates were already very dissatisfied with Solas’s Lightfoot.

So, for the past month, Solas’s Barefoot team has been in a state of utter chaos. The massive order cancellations from the Void Pirates have caused some Void Explorers among the White Wizards to begin to doubt Solas’s Barefoot team.

Meanwhile, Melochy’s Magic Steps team has been aggressively buying up stock at rock-bottom prices.

This has resulted in significant losses for Solas’s Barefoot team over the past month.

These losses have even impacted sales of their various versions of second-circle wizard shoes.

Therefore, Solas’s Barefoot team has decided to hold a themed event in six months, inviting well-known Void Explorers to endorse their products to boost sales and restore their reputation.

Scarlett the Witch commented to herself,

‘Solas’s Barefoot team is coming on strong this time. It’s said that this themed event has invited many well-known second-circle and first-circle wizard Void Explorers from Cloudswamp Wetlands.’

‘Spending hundreds of millions of magic stones. I think they’re coming on strong because they want to use that event to completely eliminate this problem with us. Of course, we shouldn’t be their main target. They don’t need to go to such lengths to deal with us.’ “

Scarlett the Witch said, ‘The Rose Witch, Melochy Wizard, and Solas Wizard have all left Cloudze Wetlands and are no longer in the Eastern Boundary. Their respective Sun Ring Wizards have long disliked each other, so I don’t think Solas Barefoot’s biggest target right now is Melochy Magic Step, not us.’

Locke nodded. ‘Yes, I heard this morning that Melochy Magic Step’s wizard shoes reportedly received customer complaints, but it was quickly discovered that it was someone hired by Solas Barefoot.’

‘The two families are now fighting. Currently, they’re arguing, so the truth is unclear,’

Scarlett the Witch texted. ‘”

“We’re about to face a full-scale attack from Solas the Barefoot. We should take advantage of this time to sell more wizard shoes, and ideally, make a few more first-ring wizard shoe varieties.”

“That way, when Solas the Barefoot strikes, we’ll be prepared.”

Locke said, “Don’t worry about that, Scarlett. However, I’m currently busy with other projects, so I’d like to put the first-ring wizard shoe project on hold for now.”

“I don’t have that much energy on my own right now.”

Scarlett, on the other end of the Water Hyacinth System, looked tense. She was in her manor in one of the colonies of Arthas.

“Hmm? Wizard Locke actually refused me. Why did he refuse?”

“That’s right, he’s a wizard from Mount Golden Crown, not someone who specializes in making wizard shoes.”

“Most of the money he earns from wizard shoes will still be used to subsidize research at Mount Golden Crown. Sigh.”

Scarlett sighed.

“If he doesn’t want to, I can’t force him.”

“But after Solas the Barefoot holds a themed event, even if the main target isn’t us in Augustus, we’ll probably still have a hard time.”

There’s no way around it; the survival of a newly formed shop alliance is that difficult.

Most new shop alliances ultimately fail.

Only a minority survive.

Therefore, most second-circle wizards don’t choose to open shop alliances, or they open one casually as a formality, mostly applying for funding or working odd jobs on other people’s shores.

Meanwhile, Locke’s clone went to Bonifacius University.

Locke’s main body went to the underground research institute in the Dune Plane, where he would use his hundred-acre magical field on the tenth level to finally overcome the cost barrier of the imaginary root.

To achieve this, two things were needed.

First, his own botanical research system based on the Evolutionary Moon—Flower Blooming and Falling—Synthetic Cubes.

Second, the libraries from the witch Stephania, Bonifacius, and the Rose Council.

Locke’s first stop was Bonifacius University.

Because of his agreement with the new textile science department at Bonifacius University, he could use the equipment in Georgina’s laboratory and, through their lab, borrow a library card from Bonifacius University.

Locke’s true form stood before the magic field, pondering, “Whether it’s forming small groups or organizing themed events, it’s all rather meaningless.”

“What truly matters is tangible products or research results. Top-tier funding relies on good research goals, plans, and preliminary experimental data, while wizard shoes rely on superior product quality.”

“I’ll give it my best. Hopefully, I can complete the exploration of the Imaginary Root within the next six months.”

Locke also realized that it was a mistake to focus on power levels and forging ultimate magic, like other wizards.

His ultimate magic was based on evolution, and his primary ecosystem consisted of various magical plants and treants.

This meant that the cultivation systems of ordinary intelligent races couldn’t establish a suitable level system for his ultimate magic.

Therefore, unlike others, researching the Imaginary Root was the right path for him.

And the Imaginary Root was the final hurdle in creating second-circle wizard shoes.

Boniface University is a beautiful university located beside a lake. In the laboratory of this college, Georgina the Witch looked at Locke and said, “Locke, welcome to Boniface University.”

“You’ve come to complete your previous collaboration with our university, haven’t you?”

Locke asked expressionlessly.

“Hmm, more or less.”

The request to improve the Black Swan Pineapple was actually quite simple for him; he could complete it within a few days using the research system he had built.

His main purpose in coming was to borrow from Boniface University’s library and think about the problem of reducing the cost of imaginary roots.

Everything else was secondary.

Georgina the Witch’s eyes, hidden behind her wooden mask, seemed quite happy.

“Then, come with me to the laboratory. See if you need any equipment, and I’ll try my best to apply for it for you. If not, I can help you borrow equipment from other laboratories.”

Locke said, “No rush, let’s go to the library first.”

Georgina the Witch looked at Locke strangely.

“Alright. Relax for a few days. There’s really no need to be in such a hurry. Please.”
