Chapter 752 Rosetta Sittor and the Misty Magdre Castle

The Rose Witch looked at her granddaughter, Rose Tacitus.

Rose Tacitus was a young witch, dressed in a black rose-themed wizard’s robe, wearing a large black rose wizard’s hat. On her right hand were three different rose-shaped rings, all exquisite and expensive alchemical items. On her left hand was a black beauty and iridescent gold rose bracelet.

On the left shoulder of her black wizard’s robe was a two-ringed enchanted plant, the Black Demon God Rose. The imaginary stems of the Black Demon God Rose pierced from the edge of her clothing, constantly radiating terrifying magical pressure. The entire rose emitted black magical pressure upwards, like overlapping shadows.

The Black Demon God itself resembled an iron flower, its petals like tempered iron, soaked in the blackness of the night, its edges gleaming with a cold, metallic light, and the coiled veins deep within its heart resembling solidified molten gold.

Rose Tacitus’s magical pressure was around the normal second-ring limit, a little over 19,000. Despite her young age of only 25, she was a distinguished descendant of the ancient Tacitus family, a branch of the Rose Witches’ clan, and had been admitted to the Rose Council’s Advanced True Knowledge Academy.

At this moment, Rose stood up from her seat and bowed to the Rose Witch, saying, “Grandmother, I will do whatever you command.”

“Grandmother, I can help you. I’ve always wanted to join your cause, to become your right-hand woman, a backbone of your team.”

Rose seemed somewhat excited, as this was an important task given to her by the Rose Witch.

Only second-ring wizards could be entrusted with such important responsibilities. Unlike first-ring wizards, they didn’t have to stay in the academy and follow the rules.

The Tacitus family was an ancient wizarding surname; in the distant past, it had produced wizard kings and wizard monarchs, rising and falling several times.

As a descendant of the Tacitus family, a member of the initial Rose Council, she aspired to both inherit her family’s glory and the legacy of the Rose Witches.

Her parents and grandparents had always warned her that responsibility and power were commensurate; only by becoming a key technical member of the Rose Throne team could she possibly inherit the glory of Tacitus and the Rose Witches.

Now, as a second-circle wizard, she was receiving increasingly important tasks, seemingly bringing her closer to that goal.

The Rose Witch nodded in satisfaction and smiled, “Of all the descendants of the Tacitus family, I have the highest hopes for you. However, there’s a problem. My expectations for you aren’t just to become a key technical member of my research groups. You are a descendant of my family, and I have other expectations for you.”

A hint of resentment flashed across Rose’s face, but even with her inherent pride, she dared not reveal it to the Rose Witch.

Indeed, being merely an ordinary second-circle wizard wasn’t enough to become a key technical member of the Rose Witches’ team…

The Rose Witch seemed oblivious to her emotions.

“I have other expectations for you. So… why don’t you start by practicing on one of my biggest rivals in the botanical world, Catherine the Witch’s student?”

“The wizard shoe market in Yunze Wetlands has always been my backyard, my own little territory. But now Catherine the Witch has intervened, and my two students, Rhodes and Macedon, are quite unhappy about it, because it’s a business they hold shares in, although not a large direct stake.”

Rose the Witch said, “Grandmother, this is purely a declaration of war against us from the lineage of the Red Dragon Throne of Mount Golden Crown. They’ve overstepped their bounds.”

“We haven’t touched their backyard market,”

Rose the Witch smiled. “Rhodes and Macedon can’t easily act directly; that would definitely provoke the third-ring wizards under Catherine’s command. It could easily escalate into a ‘War of the Three Rings.’”

“This is something we’re trying our best to avoid. A war between the three rings could easily trigger a chain reaction. Especially within the [Stairway of Truth], my system and Katya’s are too similar. So, if any three-ring wizard continues to be hostile, it could easily cause our systems to clash, resulting in a very serious mutually destructive outcome…”

The two-ring wizards present didn’t understand.

The Rose Witch continued, “Therefore, I need you to go to Solas’s Barefoot and Melochy’s Magic Step as my representative, to unite the two families, stop them from continuing their infighting, and truly unite to resist Augustus’s Wizard Shoes.”

The Rose Witch asked, “Grandma, what level of involvement do I need to go through?”

The Rose Witch said, “He’s already become a two-ring wizard, so he should be able to establish a shop alliance soon. Once established, it’s very difficult to eliminate. To put it extremely, even if he dies, the shop alliance is already registered with the White Wizard Association. It can still be easily inherited, transferred, and sold.”

A shop alliance is an asset.

And it’s an asset registered with the White Wizard Association.

Each second-ring wizard only has one chance to get a shop alliance registered with the White Wizarding Association, which shows how valuable such an alliance is.

The Rose Witch said, “So, all I need is for you to suppress Locke Augustus’s shop alliance, keeping it at a subpar level. That’s the ideal goal; the worst goal is to keep Augustus Wizard Shoes at the level of a third-rate shop alliance in the Cloud Marsh Wetlands.”

A look of surprise flashed in Rose Witch’s eyes.

“Third-rate?”

‘Is Grandma overestimating those plant breeders’ magical plants?’

Rose Witch wasn’t a plant breeder, just a botanical wizard and an old textile weaver.

‘Third-rate? That’s too much of an honor for him.’

Rose Witch was full of confidence.

“I understand, Great-Grandma. I will help you thwart the Golden Crown Mountain’s scheme and dash the Red Dragon Throne’s hopes.”

The Rose Witch intentionally tested this junior on whom she placed such high hopes. “Tell me your thought process. Even a lion uses its full strength to hunt a rabbit. I’m testing you beforehand to see how you answer.”

“If you answer well, this task is yours. Otherwise…”

The Rose Witch shook her head slightly, her two ponytails swinging in the air. The mature witch in front of her wavered, momentarily flustered.

Rose the Witch said, “There are two points. I’ve seen that guy’s plant-based wizard shoes before. I think he’s taken many shortcuts. First, the pure plant-based technology concept wasn’t his idea. The wizard who originally proposed it died while exploring the colonized world, which allowed him to use the already published technology patents at will.”

“Second, he’s succeeded in the first ring of plant-based technology, but even with first-ring plant-based wizard shoes, he’s only launched one relatively good star product so far, let alone entered the second ring. And without selling wizard shoes that don’t involve the second ring, it will always be small-scale and won’t be able to scale up.”

“Simply put, he lacks foundation,”

Rose the Witch said. “As long as I persist in developing the advantages of the two-store alliance, leveraging our deep foundation, building brand appeal, and creating value for the established brand, we can easily win without a fight.”

The Rose Witch nodded slightly.

“It’s decent, but usable.”

Ultimately, it was still a low-level idea.

But it was already a respectable, conservative wizard, at least knowing that with the deep reserves accumulated through the two shop alliances, there was a large margin for error.

It seemed more than enough to take on Locke Augustine.

Rose Tacitus’s abilities were average, so she needed someone to train her.

Talent is cultivated.

The Rose Witch considered herself good at recognizing and utilizing talent.

Hearing the Rose Witch’s praise, Rose Witch’s confidence soared.

However, she noticed that the Rose Witch’s opinion of her remained ambiguous, so she secretly resolved to do this well and earn the Rose Witch’s trust.

To become a key technical member of the Rose Witch’s team in a certain area, one needed at least the level of a Sun Ring Wizard, and also a unique ability within the team.

For example, the special research accumulation in ecological corridor theory, like that of Lady Lana Witch.

Only then could one become a useful member of the team.

Of course, this has to be done step by step.

She needs to at least secure a sub-project of the key project from the Rose Witch; that’s extremely important.

Money is secondary; the most important thing is the honor, and the access it provides as a springboard.

The key project is fully funded by the White Wizard Association of Yunze Wetlands, which hopes it will yield results. For an ordinary second-ring wizard, securing such a project means gaining early access to many things and acquiring resources that will greatly benefit his future.

Generally, key projects in a wizarding region of Yunze Wetlands’ caliber require at least a Sun-ring wizard to even have a chance.

And the difference between a Sun-ring wizard and an ordinary second-ring wizard is like heaven and earth.

The Rose Witch glanced at the Rose Witch, who was deep in thought, then turned to Esther Witch and said, “Esther, this is a Silver Ring Peach.”

“Help me accelerate its growth.”

Esther Witch nodded. “Yes, Your Majesty. At your service.” Esther Witch

took the peach tree, and the Silver Ring Peach rapidly changed in her hands, growing thicker and thicker. In less than ten minutes, it had seemingly grown ten years’ worth of fruition. The

Rose Witch observed from the side, nodding in satisfaction. “I see. This method of accelerating growth is based on your Great Magic, not ordinary Second Ring spells. Other wizards will find it difficult to learn.”

The structure of Great Magic is extremely dangerous, concerning Second Ring advancement, and cannot be easily replicated.

Esther Witch’s smile remained unchanged, as if she didn’t care at all that the Rose Witch had just tried to probe her magic and, relying on her Third Ring Throne knowledge and understanding of magic, forcibly tried to master her ring magic.

This was irrelevant.

Because ultimate magic is rare among second-circle wizards, something even third-circle wizards couldn’t so easily decipher and learn.

The Rose Witch received the Silver Ring Peach, which had been aged ten years longer, from Esther.

The Rose Witch sighed, “It takes ten years to grow a tree, but a hundred years to

cultivate a person.” “Rhizology is indeed the subject our Rose Council most needs to strengthen. Now, with your return, the level of this subject in our Rose Council will advance by leaps and bounds within twenty years.”

“Gentlemen, let’s return to the Rose Council first. Soon, we need to go to Golden Crown Mountain again, after all, Catherine the Witch’s last disciple has advanced to the second ring.”

The Rose Witch said, “I estimate that Katya will hold a banquet for him. At that time, about half of the high-ring wizards from Cloud Marsh Wetlands will attend, either personally or by sending their students.”

“Katya has improved her status in Golden Crown Mountain and the Cloud Marsh Council this year through a series of maneuvers. Things are different now. In the past, as the Rose Witch of the Rose Council, I had more power than her, but now she is no less powerful than me.”

“This year is truly crucial.”

A hint of displeasure flashed in the Rose Witch’s eyes.

…

At Golden Crown Mountain, Locke returned to his dormitory and met with Wizard Daniel.

Wizard Daniel was somewhat incredulous, looking at Locke before him and feeling the immense magical pressure emanating from Locke, like a vast ocean or an abyss.

“Locke, you’re a second-circle wizard now?”

Wizard Daniel’s eyes were filled with astonishment.

“My God, you became a second-circle wizard in your first year at Golden Crown Mountain? You know, I’ve read the history of the True Knowledge Academy at Golden Crown Mountain, and no one has ever done this before. You’re simply a super genius.”

“No one has ever done this before!”

Locke nodded slightly.

In fact, there were too many coincidences involved in this matter.

The Spellfighting Tournament and the Silent Grail accelerated his rapid growth. In these two competitions, he obtained the magical inheritance of the Holy Dragon and constructed a vast amount of magic.

Similarly, there were two unexpected surprises: one was exploring the abyssal ruins of the Nameless King from the Age of Stars, and the other was that the witch Catherine arranged for him to enter the Dune Plane, where he inadvertently discovered the special symbiotic relationship between the Dune People and the Stone Spirits.

Of course, the most important thing was his own crafting cube.

However, his accumulated resources were now exhausted, and the amount and level of resources required for each step forward in the second ring were incomparable to those in the first ring.

Therefore, he needed to start accumulating resources again and build up more experience to compete for top teaching positions in the Starfield Sea.

Locke’s ambition also rose step by step with his progress.

Initially, he couldn’t even distinguish the differences in level between the Starfield Sea and the Cloud Marsh Wetlands, these two wizarding lands, or the differences in the level of the wizarding academies within them.

Now, he wasn’t going to join every university in the Starfield Sea.

Since he was going to enter the Starfield Sea anyway, he might as well go straight for the best.

Because only by entering the best university could he explore the most cutting-edge things and achieve the best growth.

Before that, he needed to review further information on entering the Starfield Sea to determine if his current level was sufficient to enter a top university within the Starfield Sea and obtain a top-tier teaching position.

Fortunately, after becoming a second-ring wizard, he had plenty of time.

The normal lifespan of a second-ring wizard is a thousand years, but with his immortal dragon scales, he could live even longer.

At the second-ring stage, because he could continuously unlock new levels, unlike wizard apprentices and first-ring wizards who encounter level limitations, the second-ring stage theoretically allows for continuous increases in power limits as new levels are unlocked.

This also leads to a highly diverse power system at the second-ring stage, with significant differences between the upper and lower limits.

Wizard Daniel seemed very happy, taking out a bottle of wizard’s wine, about to enter Locke’s dormitory with him to celebrate.

However, holding the bottle of wizard’s wine, he suddenly stood outside Locke’s door, a hint of estrangement and probing appearing in his eyes.

Wizard Daniel looked at Locke and said, “Lord Locke…may I enter your room and have a drink with you?”

Locke raised an eyebrow and gestured for him to enter.

“Lord Daniel, please.”

Wizard Daniel couldn’t help but chuckle, confirming that Locke was still willing to treat him as an equal. Only then did he completely relax, walk into the dormitory, and say to Locke, “You, a second-circle wizard, actually call me, a crystallized wizard, ‘Lord.’ That’s truly going against the natural order.”

Wizard Daniel and Locke sat down at the dining table and drank a little.

Actually, neither of them rarely drank wizard’s wine, as it was one of the few wizarding drinks that could even numb the minds of formal wizards.

Taking advantage of the alcohol, Wizard Daniel began to talk to Locke about his various actions and experiences in Golden Crown Mountain, and then he talked about the honest wizards in his hometown, Fission Plains.

Wizard Daniel burped.

“The wizards of Yunze Wetlands are such hypocrites! They’re the ones who love judging others by metrics, yet on our very first day at Golden Crown Mountain, they wanted us to engage in abstract discussions!”

“Luckily, I didn’t listen.”

“Besides, there are so many swindlers here, especially female ones.”

Wizard Daniel looked at Locke and asked, “I wonder if there are any female swindlers among the second-ring wizards?”

Locke pondered for a moment, took a sip of wizard’s wine, and then said, “The second-ring wizards are all top-notch… they should… maybe…”

He wasn’t sure.

“We both entered Golden Crown Mountain at the same time, and today you became a second-ring wizard before me. I’m happy, I’m delighted,” said Wizard Daniel,

slightly drunk. “In the Fission Plains, I never felt so far behind. But here at Golden Crown Mountain, I first encountered someone who almost became a debt slave, then you, and Antoine, the Preston Witch, the Julian Witch…”

“And recently, the first-ring champion of the Three Kings Tournament, Wizard Alex.”

“He’s an assistant wizarding instructor for the first-ring stage at Golden Crown Mountain. Golden Crown Mountain is full of hidden talents. We’re just the better ones in this cohort, but looking further ahead, there are many wizards stronger than me. Of course, in this cohort, you’ve already surpassed me.” “

Without visiting Golden Crown Mountain, you can’t see a world like this,” Wizard Daniel slurred. “If I were still in the Fission Plains, I might still be complacent about my current achievements.”

“But seeing you all, I can no longer bear to return to that place and be a coward in the Fission Plains.”

“Better to be the tail of a phoenix than the head of a chicken. Locke, you must think the same way. I remember the first day we met, you told me your goal was the Starfield Sea. Back then, I thought you had such big ambitions, but now, watching your progress, it feels like a lifetime ago.”

Wizard Daniel said, “Perhaps I should set my sights higher. Being with people like you, and still holding myself to low standards, I can’t forgive myself.”

Locke smiled and said, “Sure, Daniel, with your talent, you can definitely continue to rise.”

Wizard Daniel said, “My priority isn’t the Starfield Sea. The Starfield Sea is great, but thinking about it carefully, I’m a weatherman. I want to go to the holy land of weathermen in the Eastern Boundary—the top academy in the Razer Lowlands, [Magndre Castle].

I’m naturally playful, and there are many wizarding entertainment businesses in the Razer Lowlands, plus [Magndre Castle] has top-notch weather science that’s no less than the Starfield Sea.”

“It’s the top wizarding university in the Razer Lowlands.”

Locke pondered for a moment. He had heard of Magdre Castle, which, along with Cloudswamp Wetlands, had ten districts, seven top wizarding universities, and countless small and medium-sized wizarding colleges. Its development was relatively balanced, and it emphasized fair competition.

The Razer Lowlands employs a concentrated development strategy, with only three super wizarding academies and a host of smaller ones.

In other words, the Razer Lowlands actually only have three major wizarding universities.

The rest are mostly minor, less prestigious institutions.

Yet, for the past twenty years, the Razer Lowlands have consistently ranked first in overall strength among the three regions.

Magdre Castle is the top-ranked institution in the Razer Lowlands.

It’s easy to imagine the immense power of Magdre Castle, Rootcrown Court, and other super wizarding universities in the Razer Lowlands.

Magdre Castle possesses magical resources and research capabilities comparable to many wizarding universities in the Starfield Sea.

From another perspective, the Razer Lowlands’ strategy of weakening the middle ranks and concentrating resources on the top ranks is also aimed at enabling it to compete with the Starfield Sea in certain specific areas.

Locke nodded slightly. “Magndre Castle…it’s great. Keep it up.”

“Daniel, you’ve been talking to me so much today, is there something you need?”

Daniel paused for a moment, then opened a bottle of peach blossom wizard wine, poured the expensive wine into Locke’s glass, and smiled, “Well, Locke, I’ve noticed that your two latest wizard shoes work very well with one of my inventions. So I wanted to recommend it to you.”

“Your two latest snow-capped wizard shoes both require gathering moisture in the air to condense into ice tracks. But what if there’s no moisture?”

“What if it’s in a dry environment?”

Locke blinked. “Your consideration is very reasonable, Daniel, please continue.”

Daniel said, “I think incorporating the microcosm of mist science from meteorology into your wizard shoes could optimize their performance.”

“I have a type of mist that would be perfect as a patch for your wizard shoes.”

“Also, if you need it, I can even do some part-time work for you.”

Locke smiled, so Daniel hadn’t just come to catch up today, but also wanted to find him a part-time job and recommend a potentially useful component.

Locke examined the special mist in Daniel’s hand, and after a brief inspection, he found it quite appealing.

It was a special kind of spiritual mist that normally resembled a latex-like paste, but could transform into a mist with the slightest activation of magic.

Its properties were indeed very compatible with his wizard shoes, and could even enhance some of the magical plant attributes of the Great Snow Peak Wizard Shoes; however, the exact extent of this enhancement required further testing.
