Chapter 702 The First Great Magic Descends!

Within the capital, Locke, as the Inspector General, borrowed books from the Royal Library, quickly learning about many things in this world.

To be precise, as the incarnation of a Saint, there were many things in this plane that couldn’t be hidden from him.

If he wanted to know, he could.

But there was one thing Locke couldn’t know: the Inspector General who had become a second-ring figure—the Mind Network system.

This system bore the mark of Great Magic technology, so Locke was extremely curious about its origins.

At the same time, Locke noticed that the Emperor had annihilated a portion of a province, approximately 200,000 people.

This caused the total magical pressure of the Emperor’s Mind Network to decrease, but the decrease was extremely limited.

‘Because one person is one civilization, does that mean that even if you actively attack your own civilization, as long as you yourself are unharmed, that civilization won’t be shaken?’ Locke pondered. Locke

examined the spell models within his sea of consciousness. He saw that all the spells he had learned were surrounding him; the Permanent Defense Field Forest Sanctuary had transformed into Jupiter, and the Abyss Energy into Saturn.

The first-ring spell model is represented by an asteroid.

Numerous apprentice-level spells are located in asteroid belts.

This is the location of the spell models within the sea of consciousness, while one’s own consciousness is located at the sun’s position.

One’s ultimate magic, however, is not located at the sun, nor at the location of an important planet, nor at any planet.

This colossal object, like the numerous apprentice-level spell models, appears in an asteroid belt.

However, as a symbol within the sea of consciousness, it is extremely large, like a massive shadow of Jupiter.

This is the symbol of the ordinary second ring, the unforged stage.

This represents a very high degree of separation between the ultimate magic and the body.

The entire upward path of the second ring largely involves reducing this separation.

The ultimate magic’s symbol within the sea of consciousness becomes an important planet, then the moon, and finally, the symbol of the ultimate magic merges with the symbol of one’s own consciousness, becoming the sun.

This is the entire process of the star ring, lunar ring, and solar ring.

It is also the four forging stages: nothingness, illusion, falsehood, and truth.

Reaching the level of True Forging, the ultimate magic merges with the self, the separation is infinitely reduced, and 1+1 becomes greater than 2. This transcends the second-ring stage of other civilizations, achieving a level of accomplishment that is unattainable.

Furthermore, the second-ring path of ultimate magic in the wizarding civilization allows wizards to continuously stack ultimate magic, creating new levels within the second ring – a unique development path.

Ultimate magic can be considered the brilliant achievement of the wizarding civilization.

Locke gazed at the symbolic celestial body representing ultimate magic within his sea of consciousness. “This symbolic celestial body is like a specially reserved vacuum.”

Locke casually cast a botanical spell, and instantly all the plants in the flowerpots throughout the room bloomed and withered, entering a cycle of seasons.

Because he possessed the ultimate magic, Evolution Moon, all his magic received a multiplier from ultimate magic.

And the stronger his ultimate magic, the stronger the base stats of all the magic he casts.

Essentially, his soul has transformed from one into many, from an individual into a phenomenon; ultimate magic is his asset.

It is his ultimate magic that casts magic.

Magic cast by an individual becomes magic manifested through natural phenomena.

Each spell unleashes a power unattainable at the first level.

Therefore, at the second level, more complex spell models become possible, marking the beginning of second-level magic.

Simultaneously, permanent defensive fields appeared on Locke’s body and his ultimate magic.

These two fields of the same attribute superimposed, seemingly nurturing something.

It just needed time.

And in this competition, nothing should be nurtured, so he didn’t need to consider it.

Essentially, possessing ultimate magic, he was always in a state of harmony with heaven and earth; even the most ordinary spell could be transformed into something miraculous in his hands.

Locke exclaimed, “The difference between a second-level wizard and a first-level wizard is so vast. They’re practically on different levels. I could easily defeat my former self with one hand now.”

Locke looked at the enormous magic rune appearing on the symbolic star of ultimate magic within his sea of consciousness.

“Once your magic pressure exceeds 10,000, a Great Magic Rune will appear for every additional 3,000 magic pressure. Placing this Great Magic Rune into a second-circle spell model allows you to add your second-circle spell model to a Great Magic spell.”

Casting a regular second-circle spell is equivalent to simultaneously casting the spell with your soul and the Great Magic spell.

However, casting a second-circle spell model infused with a Great Magic Rune is like continuing the Great Magic spell, significantly enhancing its power.

The magic pressure of a regular second-circle wizard ranges from 10,000 to 19,999.

This means a regular second-circle wizard

can have a maximum of four Great Magic Runes. This is because upon becoming a second-circle wizard, they possess one Great Magic Rune, and each additional 3,000 magic pressure grants another.

At 19,000 magic pressure, a second-circle wizard will possess four Great Magic Runes.

However, based on Locke’s current experience, this Great Magic Rune cannot be randomly placed into any spell model.

First, adding a Great Rune to a spell model creates a connection between that second-circle spell model and one’s own Great Magic.

This alters the nature of one’s Great Magic.

If the conflict between their properties is too great, it may cause the Great Magic to collapse and regress, essentially harming one’s soul and devaluing one’s assets.

However, if used well, it can increase one’s assets.

Second, adding an unsuitable second-circle spell model will prevent it from unleashing its full power.

Furthermore, each use of these second-circle spells with Great Runes consumes the total mana pressure of one’s Great Magic.

While powerful,

the consumption is also significant.

Each use essentially reduces the total mana pressure available for future Great Magic attacks.

Therefore, mastering the appropriate level of usage is something a second-circle wizard needs to learn and control.

If you use a second-circle spell that consumes a lot of mana pressure repeatedly during battle, reducing your remaining mana pressure (your source of ultimate magic),

then when you use ultimate magic, you’ll find yourself lacking sufficient mana pressure.

Locke, having just become a second-circle wizard, still has much to adapt to. “True ultimate magic is indeed completely different from those imitations I saw in the Historical Milestone Charm.”

“Ultimate runes… I’ve never seen them before, only read about them in books.”

“So, it seems that in the course of a second-circle wizard’s battle, neither direct attacks with ultimate magic nor spells enhanced with ultimate runes can be used indiscriminately. Ordinary second-circle spells still have many uses.” “

At least during the probing phase, when it’s uncertain whether a victory can be achieved, they shouldn’t be used.”

“Also, if ordinary second-circle spells can block the opponent’s high-cost spells, or be used to probe them, it seems they should be used aggressively.”

Locke realized at this moment that, at least, using ordinary second-circle ultimate magic directly to attack an enemy would be like bombarding with cannons.

It would instantly deplete a large amount of magical pressure, and if it failed, it would be disastrous.

Therefore, for second-circle wizards, ultimate magic cannot be used indiscriminately.

Ultimate magic is the source of a second-circle wizard’s magic; using this source directly to attack others would result in enormous consumption and increased risk.

Of course, ultimate magic is a powerful tool for second-circle wizards, so it is undoubtedly their most reliable trump card.

“I still have a lot to learn and understand about Greater Runes and Second-Order spell models. I don’t know a single Second-Order spell yet. However, my teacher had me read a lot of related Second-Order spells before, so I can use this time to learn them,” Locke pondered. “Adding Greater Runes to spell models is also a process that requires systematic learning to master.”

Essentially, the process of adding Second-Order spells to Greater Runes is a supplement to one’s Greater Runes, even a kind of forging.

So, choosing which spell to use to forge one’s Greater Runes is something that needs to be considered.

The four opportunities to add Greater Runes are four choices, four forging opportunities.

Of course, there are other ways to forge Greater Runes.

Locke thought, “They’re fighting fiercely, so I’ll help the Emperor stabilize his total mana pressure for now, and use this time to learn a few Second-Order spells.”

“Then, I’ll investigate what this mental network of his is all about.”

Inside the library, the gunslinger and the priestess were helping Locke search for books on the shelves.

The priestess was sweating profusely. “It’s really hard to find.”

The gunslinger looked at Locke with a complicated expression. “What exactly do you want?”

“I feel like you get along quite well with the emperor, even helping him establish a religion.”

“You didn’t see the emperor’s power and so you sided with him, did you?”

The young priestess blushed, standing on the shelf, and said, “How can you say that about a god?”

“God, there’s always a deeper meaning to everything you do. God, could you go out and take a look at night? I’ve always wanted to show you what this world looks like without light.”

Locke nodded and said, “Okay.”

He had already gained the emperor’s trust. Although the emperor might not believe him, the total amount of magic pressure on the emperor’s side was constantly decreasing, and he needed to rely on him more and more, so he could only trust him.

Therefore, he had the energy to do other things.

He was also very curious about the secret of this world’s inevitable destruction.

Because although the emperor was cruel, it didn’t seem like a big problem for now.

Although the emperor was cruel, he loved him and power. Any possibility that might threaten his rule or undermine his power would be eliminated in advance.

Locke looked up, astonished, at the gray sky outside the glass window. The total amount of magical pressure in this world had risen again.

The entire world seemed to be thriving, expressing gratitude to whoever caused this phenomenon.

“Edgar… I never imagined that the first person to complete a massive magical cycle would be you.”

At that moment, a Time-Shadow Fern appeared in the sky, but it was no longer as tall as a person; it had become a colossal creature.

Illusions appeared in the sky, as if proclaiming to the world.

A seed fell to the earth, then took root and sprouted. Countless souls poured into the seed, and the seedling grew underground.

Growing in a place untouched, the Time-Shadow Fern differentiated its roots and individual plants underground. One Time-Shadow Fern after another, with the spread of its rhizomes, transformed into a fern colony underground.

Soon, individual Time-Shadow Ferns emerged from the soil, like tiny ferns just sprouting from the ground.

But in reality, the underground portion was far larger than what was visible on the surface.

The main stem of the Time-Shadow Fern continued to grow upwards, transforming into a towering fern tree three thousand meters tall.

The Time-Shadow Fern manifested the Land of All Spirits, collecting the spiritual energy of death, creating a rudimentary version of the Land of All Spirits in botany, similar to the Emerald Dream.

Within that Land of All Spirits, another world seemed to exist—a world devoid of animals, inhabited only by plant spirits.

Edgar summoned a large number of plant spirits into the Land of All Spirits, and a primitive and powerful tropical jungle appeared.

The total magical pressure of his Great Magic was rapidly increasing!

The total magical pressure of the entire world was also increasing as a result.

The world felt excited, and its consciousness was gradually awakening from its past stagnation.

Edgar’s Time-Shadow Fern could convert the spiritual energy of death into the Land of All Spirits, a product of ten years of research by the Botanical Moon Ring Wizard.

The Time-Shadow Fern could unleash the Land of All Spirits, a collective attack that transformed the spirits within into magical plants to attack enemies. It could also pull enemies into the Land of All Spirits, instantly mobilizing magical pressure to its limit for a powerful attack.

The existence of the Time-Shadow Fern completed a rule of the Silent Plane, granting it the rudimentary graveyard of the plant ‘Land of All Spirits,’ a simple gathering place for the spiritual essence of the natural world.

Thus, the world was complete.

The balance of power between humanity and nature was restored.

On the viewing platform of the Silent Throne, in the viewing area of Quinjol University, applause and cheers erupted.

“This is the Time-Shadow Fern that we at Quinjol prepared for this competition. The Time-Shadow Fern can transform the spiritual essence of death, adding to the Land of All Spirits. It’s a complementary institution balancing life and death, plants and animals—that world will certainly welcome it!”

“Moreover, we’ve made history with this method. What’s the fastest time for the Silent Grail to unleash its ultimate magic? Historically, the fastest was fourteen days! Now it’s only taken ten!”

The Moon Ring Witch, the developer of the Time-Shadow Fern, stood proudly, surveying her surroundings. “This is the level of botany we at Quinjol possess. What ability do ordinary universities have to reverse-analyze parts of the Emerald Dream’s principles!”

On the judges’ panel of the viewing platform, Sun Ring Wizards nodded in agreement.

“I see. No wonder that young wizard didn’t go to the forest reserve, but instead chose to directly confront the Imperial natives.”

“So it’s a special botanical ultimate magic that can convert deathly spiritual energy into other resources. It’s indeed quite unique. Although it seems to have some issues with its attack power, mainly the instantaneous multiplication rate of magical pressure. It seems a compromise was made in terms of rapid deployment and power.”

On the viewing platform, many wizards were whispering among themselves, discussing Quinnjoll’s collaborative creation—the Timeshade Fern Ultimate Magic.

In the Silent Dimension, in the Imperial Capital, inside the library.

Locke frowned, gazing at the massive ultimate magic in the distance. “Edgar, why has your magical pressure become so oppressive?”

“If you don’t like this magic, why are you using it?”
