Wizard: Starting With Synthesized Gems - Chapter 681
Chapter 678: Hypothesis failed, special spiritual grafting method discovered!
Locke summoned a full moon to grow, reflecting the collective consciousness resonance of these dune people, and amplified and concentrated it on one person through magic. Locke looked at the dune person on the rock and found… he had not changed at all.
Locke used the moonlight in time to inject a holy spring nectar potion that was diluted a thousand times into the body of the dune man, which prevented him from dying.
Locke said, “I miscalculated. My hypothesis of evolution through group consciousness resonance was immediately disproven. I captured the telepathic resonance of these dune dwellers and was indeed able to capture their survival-based needs and project these thoughts onto this dune dweller, but I failed.”
“There’s no change at all. This shows that my previous hypothesis is wrong.”
Locke disagreed with this and said that proposing a hypothesis was an immediate denial of the hypothesis.
Even if he had successfully accelerated the evolution of the dune people by using the full moon growth just now, he still needed to determine whether another group of dune people who did not believe in stone spirits would also undergo similar evolution.
Locke pondered, “My thoughts just now were indeed a bit outrageous. Just because I want to evolve, I can evolve? If I think about it carefully, it really is nonsense.”
“Okay. I might have been misled by the ritualistic nature of these Dune People. Their rituals are simply the product of their own lack of understanding and their own path-dependence.”
Locke walked around the rock and frowned. There were many tiny ferns growing around the rock, and these ferns had horizontal fleshy rhizomes.
Locke picked one of them, put it under his nose and sniffed it, frowning at the same time.
As a potion master close to the second ring, he instantly realized that this mortal plant contained several ingredients that played a key role in the changes in mortals’ bodies.
“Maybe I guessed wrong before.”
Locke pondered: “The resonance of group consciousness may exist, but it does not act on the bodies of the Dune People themselves, but on these plants.”
“Animals and plants are two sides of the same coin in nature, and the two are inextricably linked. Perhaps it’s not the biological will of a group consciousness that causes an organism to evolve.”
“This is groundless speculation.”
“The scope is really too vast. What if plants themselves have some mechanism that can accept the wishes of animals in the environment and undergo some changes to help them survive?”
Locke proposed his second hypothesis. “The Dune People’s crude telepathic abilities amplify this effect.”
“Ordinary organisms may lack the ability to communicate, or the long-lasting and intense emotions needed to trigger such changes in plants over a relatively short period of time.”
“In botany, there are many cases of magical plants interacting with animals. Through sound and the interaction of natural magical structures, they evolve together. However, these plants on the Dune Plane are just ordinary plants. And most importantly, there seems to be some mechanism that accelerates their evolution.”
I am very interested in this myself.
But it is also possible that this is just a false alarm. If it is just the effect of plants on the human body, then it is meaningless.
Because this is a common relationship between plants and animals.
Early alchemy and modern herbalism are dedicated to the study of extracting special ingredients from magical plants to achieve certain specific effects.
The key lies in the mechanism that has the potential to accelerate evolution, not in what changes have occurred to the Dune People.
It is also easy to disprove.
Locke immediately used the Full Moon Growth to shine on a fern in the corner of the rock, and at the same time reflected the collective consciousness resonance of the Dune People gathered in the ceremony onto the fern.
Locke also used a ring of magic, Rapid Growth, to accelerate growth.
As a result, the fern experienced a period of prosperity and then decline, spreading spores and eventually withering rapidly.
“Nothing has changed. This idea is also wrong.”
Locke frowned.
He walked into the natural caves where the dune people lived and indeed saw some simple stone tools for crushing fern leaves.
“That dune man is severely contaminated by magic. Using a mixture of ordinary mortal herbs will not be able to prolong his life.”
“So, it can’t be simply seen as some kind of simple application of herbalism. That’s nonsense.”
“But if it were so easy to discover, this phenomenon would have been everywhere long ago.” Locke squatted down, checked the types of fern leaves crushed by these Dune mortals, and used archaeology spells to reproduce their original prototypes.
“They are just some simple ferns.”
“It’s impossible for it to have such miraculous effects. Unless these ferns have evolved specifically for the Dune People.”
“Therefore, it has a special effect on the blood essence of the Dune people, helping them to produce corresponding changes. However, I have already tried to reflect the needs of the Dune people through telepathy and rituals. Even when I reflected it to these ferns, it did not produce any corresponding changes.”
Locke fell into deep thought.
Either he would find a way to make the Dune People eat these plants and verify the effect repeatedly, or he would think about it and directly reproduce a certain mechanism by which the Dune People made these ferns evolve in a specific way and accelerated their evolution.
“Is it because of lack of time that it failed? No, I have already used accelerated growth.”
“I’ve shortened the growth cycle of plants. These are just ordinary plants. I can easily make them bloom and wither dozens of times in a second. I’ve already seen several cycles.”
Locke pondered: “Could it be that this line of thinking is also wrong?”
Apart from anything else, the strange vitality of the dune people is very abnormal.
Either the Dune People are tougher and more talented than the wizards thought, or there must be some undiscovered mechanism involved.
“Could it be that it’s not group consciousness, but some kind of spiritual fusion?”
Locke blinked and immediately denied it. “No, the grafting method involves grafting magical plants onto magical creatures. Such magical plants, fused with the spirits of animals, will become violent.”
Locke looked at the stone that was worshipped as a god. “Think about it the other way around. If there’s some mechanism in living things that can influence plants and accelerate their evolution, and then plants accelerate the evolution of living things, then why didn’t wizards discover it for so long? It’s likely that wizarding society lacks this thing. Or, in other words, wizards don’t lack it, not wizarding society.”
“That’s religious belief.”
Locke’s eyes lit up. “All my previous thinking was wrong. Think about it carefully. It’s only because special plants appear around the stone that these dune dwellers benefit from consuming them, and therefore believe they were bestowed upon them by the stone.”
“So what happened?”
Locke used the wizard’s vision – spiritual vision, and saw that the spirituality of the stone was very special. It was obviously a dead object, but it possessed the spirituality of many living people.
Because of the dune people’s worship, these spirits stayed in the stones for a long time, while some spirits floated out and fell on the surrounding ferns.
“So, it’s very likely that spirituality is the key,” Locke pondered. “If the spirituality of an animal is directly integrated with a plant, it will cause the plant to strengthen for a short period of time, become violent, and then quickly wither away. Less than one in ten grafting methods can be successfully used.”
“But it’s not like there aren’t successful grafting methods!”
“If, through years of faith transformation, a special spirituality is developed that has shed its animalistic qualities, or even a special spirituality of a particular product, then when combined with plants, a special change seems to occur.”
Realizing this, Locke immediately stretched out his hand, and with the power of Mist, he grabbed the stone and extracted a part of the special spirituality from it. Then Locke did not choose to infuse this precious special spirituality into the ordinary ferns around, but instead infused it into an ordinary sea gold sand that he took out from the star ring.
Locke used the full moon growth and the connecting characteristics of this great magic blueprint to link the spirituality of the sea sand with that special spirituality. The two merged like water and milk.
Immediately afterwards, under Locke’s nervous gaze, the fern leaves of the sea sand began to shake abnormally, on the verge of going wild, but soon the abnormality disappeared.
The whole plant of Sea Sand has undergone special changes, and its leaves have become serrated.
Locke was delighted. “I guessed right. Integrating this special spiritual method can cause plants to undergo a certain degree of special evolution.”
“So, it’s not some kind of collective consciousness resonance, but rather these special spirits have passively merged with the spirits of the plants surrounding the stone over a long period of time, causing these plants to undergo corresponding changes.”
Locke’s eyes shifted slightly. “Because these spirits are originally created based on various wishes, after the special transformation by the stone, they also wash away the human spirit, transforming it into a special state of spirit.”
“So, after these plants passively absorbed some of their special spiritual energy, they developed a method that could help the Dune People evolve and possibly help them escape their current predicament.”
Locke pondered, “Of course, to achieve this special rapid evolution mechanism, the following conditions are required. It’s really a coincidence that they all come together.”
“First, this is a nation that loves to worship dead things.”
“Secondly, this people likes to make wishes on dead things, hoping for some kind of evolution themselves.”
“Third, this people possess an ability similar to telepathy, which allows them to create a resonance in group consciousness and strengthen their spiritual remnants. No matter how much ordinary creatures worship a dead object, they likely won’t be able to retain their spirituality within it.”
“In the Endless Void, there must be many races that meet this requirement. But it’s certainly not that common. The high intensity of telepathic racial talent alone has already stalled many civilizations.”
“Secondly, this civilization must also enjoy worshipping inanimate objects,” Locke pondered. “These inanimate objects can be transformed into a special divine state.”
Locke looked peculiar. “Having a racial gift for telepathy is easier to satisfy in the wizarding world. But wizards in the wizarding world don’t have access to religion.”
“At least they can’t come into contact with normal religions, let alone this kind of primitive religion. Furthermore, I suspect that only worshipping stone objects, or even worshipping stones alone, can produce this special spirituality.”
“The rules of the wizarding world seem to be different. Worshiping dead things won’t bring about any special changes.”
“And among the major colonial worlds, there is a lack of races with such high-intensity innate telepathic strength…”
Locke realized that this special situation might be related to the rules of the world.
That is, the rules of the world must allow people to worship certain inanimate objects, and that inanimate objects have the power to transform and store human spirituality.
This rule does not exist in the wizarding world.
Therefore, this means that the wizards in the wizarding world, at least in the wizarding world, are destined to be unable to discover the mechanism by which this special spirituality can merge with magical plants and accelerate evolution.
And when the wizards of the wizarding world travel to the various colonial planes, it is indeed difficult to discover such subtle things.
Especially such imperceptible things are extremely rare in the major colonial planes.
A race with such high-intensity telepathic abilities rarely remains stuck in primitive worship.
It’s just that the Dune People’s situation is special, and they have experienced serious civilization regression.
Locke whispered, “It’s indeed quite difficult to detect. If I hadn’t been lucky, I wouldn’t have noticed this detail. This is because I’m a potion master, so I’m so sensitive to how many minutes a mortal can live. If it were other wizards, how could they care about a few minutes difference in a mortal’s lifespan.”
“Even so, my previous thoughts were all wrong.”
“But this mechanism does allow plants to evolve rapidly to a certain extent. These dune people’s wish is to evolve so they can survive, but what if I gather these three conditions and find a race whose wish is simply to allow the magical plants to evolve?”
“Is it possible to make the demonic plant evolve more purely?”
“But to do that, I’d need a highly gifted race of psychic beings to worship a dead object for me and help me gather this special spiritual energy.” Locke looked at the group of Dune People. “These Dune People are capable, but there are too few of them. I need more, much more. Only one tenth of their population remains. Even if all of them came to help me, they wouldn’t be able to meet my needs.”
“No wonder wizards need to conquer and colonize worlds. This… I need more races like the Dune People to collect enough special spiritual energy for my magical plant spiritual grafting experiments.”
In itself, not all races can produce this special spirituality.
We need a race like the Dune People who are naturally gifted with high spiritual and emotional talents.
Locke glanced at the group of Dune People. “In that case, I’ll find a way to take them away later. For now, I’ll help them clean up the pollution around them and let them maintain the status quo.”
“Anyway, if there’s a chance to leave the Dune Plane, these people shouldn’t be so attached to their land.”
