Chapter 580: The Istorian Archaeology Award and the Nameless King

Locke nodded slightly, expressionless. “How long in advance do you want to act, and when do you want to act?”

Warwick whispered, “Two months from now. At the Ashes Esoteric Academy on the 13th Whirlpool Reef in the wizarding land of the Jade Flower Enclave, next to the Three Lakes, you, me, and a friend of mine who is also a PhD in archaeology at the first crystallization stage, we will act together.”

“We’ll meet you there. The Ashes Cult controls a natural underground river entrance to the Abyssal River.”

Locke frowned. He had only heard of the [Jade Flower Enclave] after arriving in Sanze.

The Qionghua enclave is next to the border between Huiming and Qingming, and is located to the north of the Sanze area.

Locke asked in a low voice: “Is the Ash Cult a dark wizard’s land?”

Warwick laughed and said, “Yes, you are scared?!”

Locke frowned and didn’t answer, not because he was afraid, but because there was no need to take the risk.

Warwick whispered to Locke, “In the Dark Wizarding Land, you only need to show that you are an archaeologist to basically avoid most risks. In the Dark Wizarding community, we archaeologists are very respected.”

“You don’t need to worry. Many white wizards will also put on black robes and enter the black wizard land. When they leave the black wizard land, they just put on white robes again.”

“But there’s one thing I have to tell you. In the Dark Wizarding Land, don’t show sympathy, kindness, or weakness. You’ll be like a wounded beetle without a shell, targeted by all the carnivorous insects, who will try to skin you alive. In the Dark Wizarding Land, kindness is the most useless thing.”

Locke smiled. This is just like the fact that good people are born in bad places, but it is not the good people’s fault.

In that hellish place of dark wizards, it’s hard to even protect yourself, let alone maintain the luxury of sympathy there.

I believe that if I dare to show this kind of emotion over there, I will definitely attract countless wolves in sheep’s clothing who want to bite me hard.

Warwick summoned the Demonic Book in his hand and said, “Do you want to come? My Demonic Book contains information on fifteen Abyssal Ruins. Last time, I only gave you the historical materials of five of them.”

“If you agree to participate in this operation, I will give you all the remaining historical materials before entering the Abyssal Ruins.”

Locke said, “So generous?”

Warwick whispered, “I wouldn’t have been so generous, but when I came over this time, I discovered you’re already a First Ring Crystallization wizard. Your advancement is truly incredible.”

“That’s one point.”

“Secondly, if you were also an archaeologist at the first crystallization stage, then the historical materials within the ruins would be absolutely tempting to you. Giving you the materials ahead of time, allowing your Dragon Book to become the master’s book at the first crystallization stage, would only increase your ambition.”

“We are both archaeologists at the first crystallization stage. I don’t believe you can resist the temptation of entering the Abyssal Ruins and having a chance to obtain [Legendary Historical Materials].”

Legendary historical material?

Locke suddenly remembered that he had read this kind of thing when he read the Witch King’s Magic Book every day.

Some historical materials have special significance.

It is a major secret hidden in every era, so archaeologists call it legendary historical materials. Legendary historical materials are very special and involve multiple secret vortexes. Those secrets disappeared with the death of some famous wizards.

But there are also wizards who don’t want those precious secrets to disappear, so they choose to take the secrets into their own tombs and have them sealed in a magical city.

By deciphering and recording this kind of historical material, archaeologists can greatly enhance their own Book of the Lord and all the negative energy particle fields they have collected.

Moreover, it is recorded in the Magic Codex of the Witch King that archaeologists do not need to use legendary historical materials to advance themselves, but if they want to advance to the second ring level in the field of archaeology and become expert archaeologists, they need to use legendary historical materials.

Locke asked, “Whose remains are those of the abyss?”

Warwick hesitated for a moment, but he really wanted to have one more helper, which would give him more hope of conquering the ruins.

Therefore, Warwick said, “That is a relic from the Age of Stars. The Age of Stars holds many historical mysteries, and we archaeologists can only explore a small fragment of history.”

“In the Age of Stars, there was no distinction between wizarding lands and bounded areas, nor was there a wizarding academy. There were only small magical kingdoms one after another.”

“It didn’t exist at that time. A natural chasm appeared between the major wizarding lands. We archaeologists have been trying to trace why the chasm suddenly appeared, and when exactly it appeared. There are many different opinions.”

“Based on our exploration over the years, we have basically confirmed that although the Age of Stars was chaotic, there were still several countries known as the “Hegemons” at the time, and they were the protagonists of that era.”

“The target of this tomb exploration is the mausoleum of the wife of the nameless king of one of the great hegemonic kingdoms, the one who almost unified the wizarding world for the third time after the Age of Stars and became the Empire, but who ultimately failed.”

“If he had succeeded, he could have changed history to a great extent, recreating the magical empire of history. He could have ended the Age of Stars and changed current history. Unfortunately, he failed.”

“And it leaves many mysteries.”

Warwick’s eyes flashed with intense interest. “Yes, it’s his wife’s tomb. According to Second Ring archaeologists, the nameless king’s kingdom was once called the Magic Kingdom of Neustria, but due to its failed unification, it was cursed with expulsion.”

“Everything about that nameless king is unknown. All records of him have been erased. We don’t know why he failed, or why he died. Did he commit suicide, be murdered, die of illness, or be assassinated? We don’t know the entire life story of that nameless king!”

“The Age of Stars held many secrets. The Curse of Expulsion has hampered archaeologists from later generations from determining the specific history of the Nameless King and the [Magic Kingdom of Neustria], and even more so, the specific historical trajectory of the Age of Stars.”

“However, a Four-Ringed Truth Wizard from the Star Sea has initiated a campaign to compile the [Chronological History] of the All-Star Age and write the [Authoritative History] of the All-Star Age! This is a massive project, with countless archaeologists actively participating in it, aiming to fully trace the true nature of the All-Star Age.”

Warwick became very excited. “This is the plan released by the Truth Wizard. If it succeeds, we can completely decipher the Age of Stars and remove the veil from that era. For us archaeologists, there are no secrets, and they should remain secrets!”

Locke asked curiously: “Truth Wizard? Is he a White Wizard?”

Truth Wizard is an honorary title bestowed by the White Wizarding Society.

Warwick coughed. “The Star Sea doesn’t care that much about dark wizards and white wizards. Especially us archaeologists. Many of our high-level wizards have positions in the Star Sea.”

“Stop studying the issues of black wizards and white wizards. These things have nothing to do with us anyway.” Warwick seemed to know something and wanted to say something, but he was afraid of a certain power, so every time Locke talked about this matter, he felt uncomfortable.

As an archaeologist, you can imagine the pain of knowing part of the secret but being unable to tell it for the rest of your life.

Warwick said, “That Wizard of Truth founded a unique award—the Istorian Archaeology Award. This award is very important among our archaeologist community, and every year, winners of the first, second, and third rings are selected.”

“The winner can be an individual or a team.”

“The winner of the Istoria Prize will receive a substantial financial reward, as well as fame and respect among their peers! Furthermore, they will receive commendations from the Istoria Truth Wizard. There are many benefits.”

“The Istoria Prize, to a certain extent, represents our achievements in the field of archaeology!” Warwick said. “This time, exploring the tomb of the Nameless King’s wife not only gives us a chance to obtain legendary historical materials, but if we succeed, we can also participate as a team in the judging for the Istoria Archaeology Prize.”

“The application team for that award can consist of up to six people. As long as there are less than six of us, we can apply for the award as a group!”

Warwick said, “I spent a lot of time and effort to confirm that the abyssal ruins are the tomb of the wife of the nameless king.”

Locke asked doubtfully, “As you said, you confirmed that this is the tomb of the wife of the nameless king. This is a major discovery. Why don’t you develop it yourself and share this benefit with us?”

Warwick smiled and said, “I’m not as narrow-minded and short-sighted as the average Dark wizard. I’m an archaeologist and a wise man, so naturally I have to see clearly what’s best for me.”

“First of all, there’s absolutely no real difference between receiving the Istoria Archaeology Prize and me winning it alone! On the contrary, receiving this award requires tremendous effort, and I don’t think I could have accomplished it on my own.”

“Not a lot of confidence.”

“Secondly, my real core interest is the legendary historical materials needed to advance to the second ring of the Sovereign’s Book. Also, by winning the Istoria Award and conquering that special Abyssal Ruins, I can obtain the special resources needed to advance to the second ring.”

A solemn expression crossed Warwick’s face. “But that tomb is extremely dangerous. First of all, I can’t be completely sure whether it’s the tomb of the nameless king’s wife. No archaeologist can do that before they decipher the ruins of the Abyss.”

“If it was a trap…if it was a deceptive cenotaph, or an empty tomb, that would be fine.”

“But if it’s a trap tomb specifically designed to kill tomb robbers, that would be troublesome. Furthermore, the Nameless King was cursed with expulsion, so the wizards of the time took many precautions to prevent future wizards from finding a way to break the curse. They learned about the Nameless King’s life story and took many precautions.”

“That mausoleum is extremely dangerous. I was in danger of death just by flying over it once before,” Warwick said. “Therefore, I need to invite a powerful professor of archaeology to work with me. Only by combining our magical powers and ingenuity can we conquer that mausoleum.”

“Of course, I wouldn’t be stupid enough to invite a Second Ring archaeologist along. If I did that, I wouldn’t even be able to drink soup, let alone meat.”

Locke drummed his fingers on the table. “I have a question. Why did they curse the Nameless King but not his wife?”

Warwick said quickly, “I think this has something to do with the fact that the Nameless King’s wife is only a princess from a tiny country. That country is incredibly small, and he himself is only a first-ring wizard.”

“Of course, the biggest reason is that the Nameless King divorced his wife before launching the war.”

“That’s the main reason his wife survived.”

“But even the smallest princess in a magical kingdom has a tomb that’s still dangerous. Most importantly, it might contain the power of a curse that removes names from that era.”

“So, it’s still very dangerous to crack.”

Locke nodded slightly. So, before doing anything big, the nameless king cut off ties with his relatives first to ensure that he would have no worries.

Warwick stared at Locke, “Want to act together?”

After thinking about it, Locke told the witch Ekaterina the general process of Warwick’s invitation to him, but he did not tell her the details. He only mentioned Warwick’s so-called Istria Archaeology Award and the ancient tomb of the Starry Age.

He did this to ensure his own safety and to let Witch Ekaterina know his approximate location.

Otherwise, it would be too risky to go to the Jade Flower Enclave alone and enter the territory of the dark wizards.

Secondly, if he wanted to leave Golden Crown Mountain for such a long time, he would need the consent of Witch Ekaterina, otherwise his points would most likely be deducted.

The witch Ekaterina replied quickly. “You can go.”

“But since you have the resources, and the Istorian Archaeology Award can be judged by a maximum of six people, ask your dark wizard friend if he would be willing to bring in a First Ring Archaeologist.”

“We don’t need to share the Istria Archaeology Prize’s financial rewards. Traveling with a wizard from your own school will provide an extra layer of security.”

Locke was stunned for a moment, and then received a wizard’s resume sent to him by Witch Catherine.

This is a witch who is an archaeologist, a sacred teacher, and a botanical wizard.

She was a student accepted by Witch Catherine when she was the chief wizard instructor in other gardens in Golden Crown Mountain. Later, when she became an official wizard, she chose to stay in the school as a lecturer.

Judging from this resume, the other party is definitely a direct descendant of Witch Catherine.

Locke then looked at Warwick and asked, “By the way, would you be willing to bring another First Ring Archaeologist?”

Locke concealed the witch Catherine, saying only that she was his friend, and then told Warwick about her situation.

Warwick was stunned. “Anything’s fine, as long as it’s within six people. I’ve only got two of you, so with you, there’s only three of us.”

“I don’t think we have enough manpower to conquer such a difficult mausoleum. But to enter the Abyss River, one must possess Abyssal Energy or possess strong Abyssal Resistance. Is your friend capable of this?”

“Many archaeologists were excluded from my collaboration because they were unable to enter the Abyss River.”

Locke knew that since Witch Ekaterina made this proposal to him, it meant that she must have a way to get her senior sister into the abyss ruins with her.

So, Locke said, “Of course.”

Warwick said, “That’s fine with me. This will also relieve your worries. I have two people on my side, and you have two people on your side. Dynamic balance is the best way to cooperate. But before that, we need to sign a contract supervised by the Eye of Truth. You and I have already signed it, but we need to sign one with her as well!”

“You White Wizards are at least famous for abiding by contracts. As long as you sign a top-level, first-level contract worth 30,000 magic stones, I have no objection.”

“She has to pay for the cost of signing the contract herself.”

Locke asked the witch Ekaterina.

The witch Ekaterina replied immediately. “Of course.”

Locke said to Warwick, “Yes.”

Warwick immediately revealed a satisfied smile and re-draped the five layers of black magic clothing over his silver wolf head. “Having a disciple from Golden Crown Mountain accompany us will certainly increase our chances of success.”

“It doesn’t hurt me.”

“It’s a pleasure to work with you.”

“Then we’ll see you in two months.”

Locke saw him wrapping himself into a black ‘fur ball’ again, and he hesitated to speak. He wanted to persuade him not to do this meaningless performance art, but thinking of Warwick’s sensitive personality, he wisely kept silent.
