Wizard: Starting With Synthesized Gems - Chapter 454
Chapter 452: Feathered Serpent Ancient Pavilion’s Ladder Test
Feathered Serpent Ancient Pavilion.
Locke and Alicia came to the ancient Quetzalcoatl Pavilion, where the half-dragon wizard had been replaced by another one.
Locke looked at the strange red dragon half-dragon wizard with doubt and said, “The previous owner was a blue dragon half-dragon, right?”
The red dragon, half-dragon wizard, was emotionally indifferent, his creeper blood suppressing his feelings. “Yes, he’s been promoted because he’s signed up enough C-level members. Now, I’m in charge here. Alchemist Augustine, I’ve reviewed your test contract. You’re currently in the first round of the ladder.”
Locke asked, “Ladder to Heaven?”
The red half-dragon opened his mouth, revealing some sulfur between his teeth. When he spoke, a distinctive sulfur smell emanated from his mouth. “This is a special test from the Quetzalcoatl Ancient Pavilion. Countless potion masters are participating in the test at Quetzalcoatl Ancient Pavilions around the world.”
“Every time you pass a round, you will get some rewards. The more tests you pass, the more rewards you will get.”
“A potion master will only have one chance to participate in the Feathered Serpent Ancient Pavilion’s ladder in his lifetime. Once he fails, he will never be able to participate again.”
“Whatever level of wizard he is.”
The red dragon half-dragon extended his right hand, “Please let me see the Mastermind Control potion you configured.”
Locke took out twenty-four bottles of Mastermind Control potion from the astral realm.
The red dragon-half-dragon glanced at him in surprise. “Can the success rate of creating the Mastermind Control Potion be so high without using the Primordial Fire?”
“Out of thirty ingredients, you were able to successfully concoct twenty-four, with only six failing. The success rate for a typical potion master who concocts a Mastermind Control potion is only around 60%.”
The red dragon half-dragon placed the twenty-four bottles of potions on the counter and took out a dried maple leaf.
Then, he placed the maple leaf under his nose, sneezed slightly, and a spark came out of his nasal cavity, igniting the red dried maple leaf.
The maple leaves suddenly caught fire, emitting thick smoke.
Then, a reddish magical glow appeared in all twenty-four doses of the Mastermind Control Potion.
Only then did Locke realize that the materials for the Mastermind Control Potion that the Quetzalcoatl Ancient Pavilion had given him contained specific fluorescent ingredients.
The red maple leaf is called the [Revelation Maple Leaf], which is a common tool in potion magic to make the fluorescent mark visible after marking the target with a specific fluorescent mark.
It is a little complicated to make and requires a larger personal pharmacy.
The red half-dragon checked the concentration of the light in each dose of the Mastermind Control potion and nodded. “No problem at all.”
“The ingredients for these Mastermind Control potions were all given to you by the Quetzalcoatl Ancient Pavilion. Furthermore, there are no traces of primordial power in them. Furthermore, these ingredients were all personally refined by you, otherwise the special magical fluorescent markings wouldn’t appear.”
Locke was not surprised by this.
He had long guessed that the materials given to him by the Quetzalcoatl Ancient Pavilion were marked with special magical marks, and it was absolutely impossible for him to find other potion masters to refine them and then hand them over by himself.
The red dragon half-dragon took out a black iron magic box with a question mark on the front from his astral ring. “This is the reward for the first round of the ladder. It’s a black iron magic box. After opening it, you can get any reward related to potions.”
“Wizard Augustine, this is the special potion key to open the Question Mark Box. Here it is.”
Locke glanced at the red dragon half-dragon, took the magic box and the key, and put the key into the keyhole on the side of the magic box with the question mark pattern. He gently rotated it, and suddenly the entire black iron magic box disappeared by itself.
Locke noticed that the black iron magic box evaporated and sublimated like water.
In other words, this black iron magic box itself is a special water solid made by the magic of the alchemy school. As long as it is opened with the key, the magic box will instantly sublime itself and disappear.
After the box disappeared, a paper recipe appeared on the table. Locke picked up the recipe and took a look. He saw the name written on it – [Laughing Potion].
The user will laugh heartily and be completely unable to stop, and will laugh until death. It is a first-level potion in toxicology.
Locke scanned the formula, memorized it, and put it into his star ring.
The red half-dragon said, “The rewards you can get in the first round of the ladder are of limited quality, but the recipe for the Laughing Potion is indeed a very interesting potion. In the hands of a capable potion master, it can be used in different ways.”
“Augustine Alchemist, this is the second round of the ladder test.”
Locke took the document from the red dragon half-dragon, and Alicia leaned over to take a look. It read: ‘Within one year, use ten ingredients to concoct a Glas Aging Potion. Five must succeed, and do not use the Primordial Fire.’
Alicia’s expression changed slightly. “Glass Aging Potion? That’s only slightly simpler than the Sun Potion. Is the second round of the ladder really that difficult?”
Before entering the ladder, the three potion configurations used to test whether the alchemist is qualified to enter the ladder already represent that the alchemist needs to have sufficient experience in the first ring stage.
Those three potions put a very high test on the potion master’s comprehensive ability.
In the first round of the ladder, the Mastermind Control Potion is a difficult potion among the first-ring potions.
The second round of the ladder, the Glalas Aging Potion, is so complicated to make that it is considered to be of hellish difficulty.
Alicia thought of something and looked at the red dragon half-dragon and said, “Does this mean that the third round of the ladder requires refining a top-level first-level potion equivalent to the Sun Potion? Without using the Primordial Fire, who can refine a potion of that difficulty?”
The red half-dragon said indifferently, “No comment. Wizard Alicia, are you willing to participate in the ladder test?”
Alicia’s expression trembled slightly, but she still shook her head and said, “No, I’ve been very busy lately. I don’t have time to take this kind of test.”
After receiving a clear rejection, the red dragon half-dragon did not hesitate, but looked at Locke and handed the two medals to Locke.
One is the Quetzalcoatl badge that represents passing the first round of the ladder, with a 1 written on it, and the second one is actually the official Alchemist certification badge.
The red dragon half-dragon explained to Locke, “The ladder test of the Quetzalcoatl Ancient Pavilion is recognized by the White Wizard Association. Wizards who can pass the first round of the test can be directly awarded the official potion master badge if they do not have it.”
Locke nodded in surprise. “So, a first-ring wizard can completely skip the formal Potions Master exam and directly use the ladder to obtain the official Potions Master certification badge?”
The red half-dragon said, “You can understand it that way.”
Alicia smiled and whispered to Locke, “No one would normally choose this. Forget about preparing a complex potion like the Mastermind Control Potion. Even the three potions you prepared before joining the ladder are more difficult than the regular Alchemist certification exam.”
“No one would give up the easy way and choose the hard way.”
Locke nodded. “Then I’ll accept the second round of the ladder test. Please give me the materials.”
From the corner of his eye, Locke saw a strange old wizard walking into the shop, his eyes alert, as if ready to run away at any time if there was any trouble.
