Chapter 325 Advanced Meditation Method

After Melanie Carlisle and her students left, Harlan Vera whispered to Locke, “Actually, Melanie is a pretty good person. She’s just not very good at teaching her students, and she doesn’t really pay attention to what they’re thinking.”

“Melanie is the most determined witch in the House of Secret Fire who is committed to fighting against dark wizards. She is also the witch with the purest motives among those who are committed to fighting. This is simply because she believes that dark wizards have desecrated magic and tainted the truth.”

Now that Locke had become a full-fledged wizard, Harlan Vera subconsciously brought up something he’d previously been reluctant to discuss with an apprentice. “Within the White Wizards’ Association, there are many pro-war wizards. They support war for a variety of reasons, such as wanting to sell weapons; others wanting to devalue a region’s resources, but the current prices are too high, and hoping to buy them back through war…”

“Some people also think that the Dark Wizards’ extensive use of undead creatures, and the Undead’s insufficient consumption capacity, will affect the economy. Therefore, they want to force the Dark Wizards to purchase large quantities of our goods and restrict the evil psychic magic…”

Harlan Vera adjusted his glasses. “Everyone has different ideas.”

Locke nodded slightly. During the wizard apprenticeship stage, everyone always thought that the White Wizard Association hated the dark wizards because the dark wizards were evil, had no morals, no values, or simply had a deep historical hatred between the two wizard organizations.

But after becoming an official wizard, he discovered from what he saw and heard that all the actions of the White Wizard Association against the black wizards had special economic purposes hidden behind them.

Many of the hidden purposes behind this are primarily motivated by certain interests.

Take the White Wizard Association’s restrictions on the use of psychic magic and the creation of undead within the White Wizard community.

In the eyes of the apprentices, it was because necromancy was dangerous and evil.

But in Locke’s current understanding, that is because the White Wizard Association believes that the extensive use of psychic magic to create undead labor will lead to insufficient consumption capacity of the society as a whole, and the undead need too few external resources, thus triggering an economic crisis.

Therefore, the association regards necromancy as extremely evil magic.

In other words, the biggest reason why divine magic restrains psychic magic is because psychic magic can cause economic instability and violate the order among the eight virtues of wizards.

Only after understanding the principle could Locke better understand why divine magic restrained the spells of the spiritual school, and calculate the restraint relationship between the two magics through formulas.

No wonder he always made mistakes when calculating the influence factor equation between the two magics in the Everything course during his apprenticeship. It turned out that he had misunderstood the principle involved.

Harlan Vera sighed. “They say other wizard mentors can’t teach their students, but how can I be any better?”

There was a rare look of confusion in Harun Vera’s eyes. He waved his hand, the office door was locked, and the soundproof barrier in the office took effect. Harun Vera rarely showed his vulnerable side to his students.

“I am deeply saddened by Angron’s story,” Harun Vera sighed. “When he first came into my care, I had high hopes for him. Even at the very end, I still believed he had potential.”

“I know my talent is limited. I took the wrong path when I was young and chose to stay in the southeast corner, wasting some of my talent. So I like to help others achieve their goals. I like to discover those talented people and then provide them with resources so that they can thrive.”

A trace of fatigue flashed in Harlan Vera’s eyes. “Seeing those students achieve success outside, I feel as happy as they do.”

“Now the academy’s top brass mistakenly believes that I deliberately instigated Angron’s betrayal of the academy, but in fact, it had nothing to do with me. Locke, can you believe it? Until the very last moment, I still tried to help him.”

Harlan Vera sighed and said, “He’s just too stubborn.”

“Perhaps… I may indeed have some problems. I was too eager for quick success and instant benefits, and I pushed him to extremes. In fact, from very early on, I noticed that a lot of the data in his published articles came from first-hand data only available from Dark wizards. He had close ties with Dark wizards, but I didn’t think much of it at the time, believing that he could balance this delicate relationship very well.”

“Among the White Wizards, there are quite a few who try to get firsthand information about the Black Wizards’ land. But in the end, I didn’t expect him to do such a stupid thing.”

“I put as much effort into him as I do into any other student.”

Harlan Vera looked at Locke in confusion, “Locke, are you saying I’m really wrong?”

Locke hesitated for a moment and decided not to express too many opinions on this sensitive issue.

Locke said: “For me, Mr. Harun is a very good teacher. That’s all I need to know.”

Locke saluted Harlan Vera. This was not an apprentice saluting a formal wizard; the two were now equal.

This is a student saluting his teacher.

Harlan Vera was stunned for a moment, then looked at Locke and smiled bitterly. He nodded and said, “That’s right. It’s indeed my fault for asking you to answer this question.”

“Perhaps I should listen to Madam Morgana’s advice to me to pay attention to the moral code of a student.”

“The White Wizards Association’s ethical review mechanism is indeed protecting both itself and others.”

Locke took the opportunity to ask Harlan Vera some questions. “Teacher Harlan, can you give me some advice on my future development after becoming a formal wizard?”

Harlan Vera perked up, temporarily forgetting the sadness that Angron, whom he had previously invested a lot of energy and emotion in, was now being tried by the association and sent to the wizard prison. Instead, he began to introduce to his current outstanding graduate student, Locke, the future path of wizard apprentices after becoming official wizards.

“Thank goodness for you, Locke. You’ve saved me from being too disappointed. On the contrary, you’ve filled me with pride.”

Harlan Vera smiled and said, “As you can see, after a wizard becomes a First Ring Wizard, he undergoes a transformation in his life level and is no longer a mortal.”

“Your current advanced meditation method should be at the fifth level, which corresponds to the Qi transformation stage.”

Locke nodded slightly. “Yes, teacher.”

Harlan Vera said, “The sixth level of meditation corresponds to the liquefaction stage, and the seventh level corresponds to the crystallization stage. There are only seven levels of advanced meditation. So, the question is, for a wizard who has reached the seventh level of advanced meditation, the future is clearly at an end. How can he advance further and become a second-ring wizard?”

Locke nodded, his eyes revealing understanding. “So, Teacher, you mean I need to learn more advanced meditation techniques?”

Harlan Vera nodded and said, “You are very clever, indeed.”

“But this isn’t the most important thing. The meditation method that allows you to cultivate to the level of a second-ring wizard is a more in-depth meditation method than the advanced meditation method. It’s called the High-level Meditation Method. However, you need to cultivate the advanced meditation method to the seventh level before you can switch to the [High-level Meditation Method].”

“So, what you need most in the short term is to first complete your study of the advanced meditation method you have. At the same time, keep an eye out for other channels to obtain advanced meditation methods.”

Locke asked Harlan Vera, “Teacher Harlan, do you have any advanced meditation methods?”
