Chapter 294: Ghost Shadow Curse

Locke hesitated for a moment, wondering whether he should go out and leave the Forbidden Forest immediately, or complete his permanent defensive force field, the Forest Sanctuary, first. He hesitated for a moment, and decided to complete his first round of defensive magic in the research institute first.

Currently, his first ring of defensive magic is still in an incomplete state. The Forest Sanctuary must have an external spell library to unleash its full power.

“The interior of this research institute is actually quite good.” Locke’s eyes lit up slightly. The location of this research institute is very hidden. The institute is also protected by a first-level magic guard and even has a magic blockade of the illusion school’s maze lock. Ordinary wizards can’t find this place at all.

If I hadn’t happened to get the location information of this place from the Eternal Dusk Garden, I would not have been able to find a rock to stand on in a swamp and discover the location here.

Therefore, you can place your forest sanctuary here before purchasing the Druid Ring.

It just so happens that there are some living magic plants everywhere in this research institute. You can choose those magic plants and temporarily build the simplest basic forest sanctuary.

But before that, it would be better to deal with some minor troubles first.

Locke’s eyes glowed with a blue magical light. “Come out! How long are you going to stand by and watch?”

“Dean Levis.”

Suddenly, a square crystal in a corner of the central control room released a deep blue magical light.

The lantern grass next to the crystal swayed slightly, and a phantom appeared next to the crystal.

This is an image of a middle-aged man wearing a white wizard robe, with a small monocle for concentration on his left eye and an indelible scar on his forehead left by necromancy.

The scar was emitting a grey demonic pressure. Even though more than five hundred years had passed, and even though Levis was now just an illusion relying on a crystal matrix and lantern grass, the demonic pressure still existed.

Locke sensed from the demonic pressure that the other party was at least a formal wizard whose mental power had crystallized and left a wound.

Dean Levis sighed softly. “Student, oh no, colleague, you misunderstood.”

“I didn’t mean to spy on you. I’m just a sinner in Lilith’s Hut. Five hundred years ago, Lilith’s Hut was already on the path to becoming the top wizard academy in the southeast corner.”

“But because of me, Lilith’s cabin has been under the strict surveillance of the association. I wonder if the special surveillance and restrictions have been lifted now, and whether Lilith’s cabin has recovered.”

“Moreover, I’m just a ghost relying on the lantern grass and the soul-locking crystal matrix. I’m not even the soul of the original wizard Levis. I’m just a product of his soul fragments mixed with some thoughts, combined with the principle that the lantern grass can store memories.”

“So, I really don’t have the face to appear in front of you.”

“I just didn’t expect that after you became a formal wizard, you would notice my existence.”

The illusion of the wizard Levis looked at the permanent defensive force field lingering around Locke, his eyes shining. “But it’s wonderful to see with my own eyes the magic that Foucault and I envisioned, realized in your hands.”

“This magic was created by me, Wizard Foucault, and you together. Wizard Foucault was the initiator, I was the developer, and you were the finisher.”

“This magic has gone through the experience of three of us official wizards, and now it is finally born!”

Locke looked at him with caution. After all, this was a formal wizard whose mental power had been crystallized. His strength was unfathomable. He had stayed in this laboratory for more than five hundred years. Who knew what tricks he would leave here.

The Ominous Mandrake Vine didn’t react, but the key point was, who knew if this kind of apprentice-level vine could work on the phantom of a formal wizard.

Wizard Levis noticed that Locke’s eyes were still filled with vigilance as he looked at him, and he smiled wryly. “Excellent junior from the academy, are you so vigilant? Well, maintaining this vigilance is a good thing.”

“There are indeed many tombs of First-Ring wizards, and they actually hide their secret means of resurrection. Those First-Ring wizards are all masters of the Necromancer school of magic.”

“But I’m not. I just bought this crystal matrix at the Chimera Market. Besides, time was so tight at the time that I could only leave a backup for the Hidden Research Institute. I couldn’t take care of anything else.”

The square crystal released light again, and three spell models were projected into the air.

The illusion of the wizard Levis said, “Look, these are the three spell models inside my crystal, and only one spell model is working now. The only spell model that allows me to interfere with reality has been damaged over time.”

Locke quickly scanned the three first-ring magic spell models. He recognized that two of them were damaged and the spell models were incomplete.

The only normal one is the first-level magic of the School of Necromancy [Ghost Shadow Spell].

It is to leave someone’s thoughts in a certain carrier in the form of a ghost.

But to be honest, it is hard to say whether this magic keeps the person here, or only keeps part of the person’s desire to stay.

It is estimated that the other party used lantern grass and crystal matrix to preserve this illusion that contains the thoughts of Wizard Levis until now.

The main purpose of the Ghost Shadow Charm is to try to prolong the time of some of a wizard’s thoughts so that they can be preserved in future generations.

This is a common method used by wizards to find ways to leave their thoughts in this world.

It was indeed quite reasonable that Wizard Levis thought of using this method at the last moment five hundred years ago.

Locke relaxed his guard a little. “In that case, I would like to thank Dean Levis. Your magic helped me become a formal wizard.”

Dean Levis shook his head slightly. “No, to be precise, I should be thanking you.”

“Without you, this magic would forever be buried among the waste paper in the cold and dark laboratory.”

“In order to complete this magic, I captured more than one first-level wizard. To make the experiment more successful, I conducted human experiments on at least ten formal wizards specializing in botany… Sigh, those were truly crazy days.”

“But I don’t regret it. If I had the chance again, I would still make the same choice.”

“The pursuit of truth should be desperate!”

A flash of madness flashed across Dean Levis’s eyes.

Locke had already let down his guard about this illusion, and when he heard him say this, he was speechless.

No wonder, more than 500 years ago, the White Wizard Association used thunder and lightning to suppress Lilith’s Hut and stop this research project.

This is really exaggerated.

Dean Levis smiled wryly, a flicker of madness in his eyes, but his gaze towards Locke was filled with relief. “Now, you, my descendant, have accomplished this for me. I painstakingly dedicated all my magic to this endeavor. I owe you my gratitude.”

“There are still quite a few usable magical plants left in this research institute. I’ll give you the coordinates.”

“You can use them to build your forest sanctuary.”
