Wizard: Starting With Synthesized Gems - Chapter 19
Chapter 19 Three Months and the Arrival of the Wizard Ship (4500)
Three months passed in a flash.
In the dormitory of Aurelian College, Locke cleaned up everything in his room, moved out of the dormitory, and stored the extra items in the family manor house where the Augustine family currently lived.
During these three months, with the help of Professor Old, Locke learned the spell “Skull Explosion” on the third day.
To practice [Skull Explosion], you don’t need to kill a person, you just need to kill some livestock and use the dead energy generated.
Although the knowledge is not very solid due to accelerated learning, I can practice on my own to make up for the basics after boarding the wizard ship.
So, it doesn’t matter.
After completing the second trick, Locke felt that his mental power had increased by at least 30% again, but because there were no magical resources specifically for testing mental power on Corfu Island, Locke did not know the exact value of his current mental power.
In the villa where the Augustine family is currently staying, Count Augustine and Gloria held a farewell banquet for Locke, and even invited many prominent families nearby in the name of Locke going on a long trip.
Of course, these people only knew that Locke was going on a long journey. They just thought that Locke was going to travel from one kingdom to another, but they didn’t expect that the so-called long journey meant leaving the Corfu continent and going to a wider world.
Sienna Brown and her daughter tried their best to please Locke at the banquet, because she knew that Locke now had the highest status in the family.
She wanted Locke to get closer to her daughter, but Locke was always cold and indifferent.
Gloria hugged Locke tightly, then whispered in Locke’s ear, “Brother, if you see mother in the future, please say hello to her for me.”
“No matter what the road ahead holds, our family will always be your warmest harbor.”
“Remember to go home and visit. Don’t be like your mother and sister…our dear sister, who never came back.”
Locke nodded slightly. The past few months of getting along with each other had deepened his relationship with this family.
Count Augustine came over and patted Locke on the shoulder. “You’ve grown up, so I’m relieved that you’re leaving.”
“You don’t have to worry about family matters.”
“Because of you, the Frankish Emperor returned the County of Augustine to us, restored our titles, and even promised to marry a princess to your eldest brother, Goria.”
Count Augustine’s lips curled into a sarcastic smile as he glanced at the wealthy nobles at the banquet. “These people always have the most sensitive ears, so they all rush to curry our favor.”
Locke then asked a further question. “Marrying the princess? The Frankish Emperor is quite willing to do so. Father, do you agree?”
Count Augustine and Gloria smiled at each other. The Count said, “Why not? Your elder brother has seen the delicate princess and is very satisfied.”
“Out of consideration for our family, if the future Count Augustine can marry a princess of the Frankish Empire, it will be of great benefit to our family.”
“Of course.” Count Augustine whispered, “All this is because of you, so if you are well, then we are all well.”
“The person the Frankish Emperor really wants to please is you.”
“But I just want you to be safe, Locke.”
Locke nodded, and his heart felt a little warmer. At least in this strange world, there were still some family members who cared about him.
At this moment, he also felt more identified with the Augustine family.
Locke said: “I will take good care of myself.”
“In the future, if I have the chance, I will come back from the wizarding world and visit Corfu again.”
“If a family can have a wizard, then the possibility of their descendants having wizarding qualifications will be greatly increased. Perhaps my brother’s offspring will also be able to enter the wizarding world in the future.”
“Of course, this is just a possibility.”
Gloria’s eyes lit up. During this period of time, he was indeed a little envious of his younger brother.
I envy him for being a wizard.
It’s a pity that he doesn’t have the qualifications of a wizard, but it would be nice if his descendants could have it.
Now he understood that the so-called wizard was a person that even the emperor of the Frankish Empire, who was about to unify the Corfu continent, had to please.
Locke said briefly: “Okay, time’s up, I have to go.”
Locke said goodbye to his family, got on the carriage arranged by Aurelian College downstairs, and headed to the dock outside the city.
Dean Tungus and others were already waiting there.
Today is the day when the wizard ship arrives, and it is also the day when he officially enters the wizarding world.
At the dock, the Aurelian College had already arranged soldiers in advance to block the dock, so there were few people here at the moment.
There were only Dean Tunguska, Professor Old, Patty and Cord, and their respective families.
Because they have to leave Corfu by boat, and it is impossible to cross the endless mysterious sea and return to Corfu without the resources of a formal wizard, the academy has sent people to invite their families here to say goodbye.
Code’s family were all serfs, but it was said that they had been granted civilian status by the emperor of the Frankish Empire and given a large amount of property, becoming small wealthy people.
Similarly, Patty’s family also went from being merchants to becoming small lords.
When Locke arrived, he nodded to Code and Patty, then walked towards Dean Tunguska and Professor Old.
Professor Old’s eyes flickered, and he said nothing. He just stood there silently, looking at Locke calmly.
He knew in his heart that for others, they might see Locke again in this life, but for him, this time it was a farewell forever.
At the dock, a strong wind suddenly blew, and sand and dust flew everywhere. In the distance, over the gray ocean, a huge shadow appeared. The shadow broke through the sea and the sky, and came towards the dock of Corfu Island.
Full of oppression.
It was like a small mountain pressing down towards the dock.
Compared with it, the mortal ships docked at the dock are like the difference between a primitive wooden boat and an aircraft carrier.
For some reason, Locke felt a huge pressure in his heart, but it seemed that it was not just a psychological effect, because he soon discovered that even his body was reacting. His knees were sore and his eyes were hot.
Locke noticed that Patty and Code were in even worse condition, with sweat on their foreheads, indicating they were under a lot of pressure.
And their families showed signs of being unstable.
Dean Tungus looked at the three and said, “It’s okay. This is probably your first time facing demonic pressure. Just take a break.”
“If an ordinary person stayed under such high magical pressure for a long time, they might suffer permanent damage. But you are all third-class wizard apprentices now, or close to the level of third-class wizards, so you only need to get some sleep and you will probably be able to adapt.”
“After all, such high demonic pressure rarely occurs in natural environments.”
Locke asked, “Teacher Tungus, what is demonic pressure? There is no mention of this in the book you gave me.”
Dean Tungus was stunned for a moment when he saw Locke could actually speak, then he said, “Locke, once you get on that ship, you’ll soon understand what demonic pressure is.”
“I… no longer have anything to teach you.”
“The road ahead depends on you.”
“Once you’re on the wizard ship, you must listen to the orders of the wizards on board and never do anything that violates the rules or provokes others.”
“The wizarding world is different from the little world of Corfu. It’s more dog-eat-dog, but also full of possibilities.”
“You three are all my students, and you are all my friends. Now that you are on the wizard ship, you must learn to take care of each other.”
Dean Tungus bowed slightly to the three of them. “I hope that when I see you next time, one of you will have become a formal wizard.”
“Only by becoming an official wizard will you have enough resources to return home. Otherwise, it will be difficult for you to come back.”
Dean Tunguska said, “We will do our best to take good care of your family. Don’t worry, with your relationship, their future life on Corfu will be absolutely safe.”
“The Tunguska family in the wizarding world will know that you are my students and may be able to provide you with some assistance.”
“Go, my students.”
A huge ship docked at the dock. The ship was still a wooden boat, but its size was like a giant cruise ship.
The overall appearance is like a three-masted ship, but Locke believes that its driving force is definitely not wind power.
It is absolutely impossible for such a large ship to be powered by wind.
Some wooden boards floated down from the wooden boat, and those boards formed a hollow staircase in mid-air, layer after layer, level after level.
Extending down from the deck of the tall wizard ship.
Dean Tungus quickly raised the files about Locke and three others in his hand, and the three files automatically flew towards the wizard ship.
Ten seconds later, a cold voice came from the wizard ship. “On Island 31, there are three wizarding prodigies. Two are third-class wizard apprentices, and one is an ordinary person.”
“Locke Augustine, Patty Isaac, Cord Newman, board the wizard ship in under a minute.”
“Reward the second-class wizard apprentice Zak Tungus and the second-class wizard apprentice Anlun Olde with 15 contribution points each.”
Dean Tunguska and Professor Old showed some joy on their faces.
These school contribution points are more valuable than magic stones, and are the main reason why they came all the way to this barren land.
These contribution points will eventually be used by their respective families and become the cornerstone of their families.
But they still felt a little sad, because the apprentices they had trained for many years were about to leave Corfu, and for a long time to come, there would be only the two of them left in the Aurelian Academy.
It may take several years, or even more than ten years, for the next qualified wizard to enter the academy.
When Locke walked onto the floating wooden ladder, Dean Tungus suddenly shouted: “Master wizards, I have been away from my family for many years and I miss them so much. I want to write a letter to my family. Can you help me send my letter…”
“This is just a request from me, a request from an old man who has been away from his hometown for many years…”
A cold voice came from the wizard ship. “Second-class wizard apprentice Zak Tungus, just do your job. You voluntarily signed the contract to come to the wilderness and cultivate wizards for the school.”
“We don’t owe you anything.”
Dean Tungus sighed. Although he had expected this, he still found it hard to accept such a ruthless rejection.
He took a deep breath; he should have expected this to happen.
He had been respected in Corfu for many years and seemed to have begun to forget the ruthlessness and indifference of the wizarding world.
Locke looked back at Dean Tunguska and gained a better understanding of the wizarding world.
A wizard apprentice who has been away from home for decades is stationed on a deserted low-magic island for the sake of the school, but even his request to send a letter is ruthlessly rejected.
Locke thought of a word that Dean Tunguska always mentioned before – equivalent exchange.
The wizards in the wizarding world abide by the principle of equal exchange, and rationality and ruthlessness are the mainstream there.
Dean Tunguska could not afford to pay the people on the wizard ship to send the letter for him, so his request was of course rejected immediately.
Locke was the last apprentice to walk onto the deck of the wizard ship. After he got on the wizard ship, the floating wooden stairs behind him automatically disintegrated piece by piece and flew back to the wizard ship.
Locke turned and looked at Corfu. At that time, the wizard ship had already started moving, so he saw that Corfu was moving away from him quickly, becoming smaller and blurry.
He also saw Professor Old, who had remained silent, nodded slightly to him, then turned and walked away quickly.
Locke stood on the deck and bowed slightly towards the distant Corfu Island, in memory of his teachers.
Patty and Cord exclaimed in surprise, and Patty even said, “I didn’t expect the wizard ship to be like this. It’s not gray at all.”
“What about the sun…”
Locke turned around and found that what he saw was not the gray sky and sea on the coast of Corfu, but the blue sky, white clouds, a rainbow hanging in the sky, and the bright sun.
He looked up and down and found that the sky would only look like this if he stood on the wizard ship and looked up. If he stood on the edge of the wizard ship deck and looked out into the distant ocean, he could still see the gray sky over the endless mysterious sea where the sun never shone.
In other words, there is an artificial sky above the wizard ship, and there is an artificial sun in the artificial sky.
The deck of the wizard’s ship is not bare wooden boards. There are flower fields on the wooden boards. The flower fields are covered with green grass, many grain crops, and many beautiful flowers.
The environment on the deck is more like a beautiful garden with everything you need.
Locke and the other three were extremely shocked.
“Haha, hello, you guys, you must be surprised. I was also surprised when I got on the boat this morning.” A young voice appeared behind Locke and others.
Locke turned around and saw a young man wearing a white swordsman’s uniform and carrying a silver cross sword.
The man looked very handsome, with golden hair and a warm smile.
“My name is Lawn Guerrero, and I’m from the continent of Schleswig.”
“Before you boarded the ship, about three groups of students had already boarded today.”
“The wizard instructors here are different from those on our mainland. They don’t like to talk to people. So I think you may not know anything when you first get on board, so I will introduce the current situation to you.”
“This ship has an artificial weather system. Wizards can freely manipulate the weather on the ship and grow some crops, so they can be self-sufficient.”
Locke didn’t expect that someone would greet him as soon as he got on the boat. He nodded to Lawn Guerrero and said, “Hello, Lawn, I’m Locke Augustine.”
Led by Locke, Patty and Cohen also reluctantly greeted him.
However, the two were a little cautious and didn’t want to talk much with Lawn Guerrero.
After chatting with Locke for a few words, Lawn said, “The wizard instructors on the ship are here. He will arrange accommodation for you.”
“If you need anything, you can come and ask me for help. I’m leaving now.”
Locke turned his head and saw three wizards in black robes walking towards him from a distance. The magic power of these wizards was obviously stronger than that of Dean Tungus and Professor Old.
Facing the strange wizard, Patty and Code seemed even more nervous.
