Chapter 10: Back in Time

The Jiang family acted swiftly, cleaning the space in just half an evening. They then spent two days and two nights conducting repeated inspections to ensure no evidence remained. Only then did they leisurely inform City Lord Zeng that

the case could be reopened. Just as Clan Leader Jiang had anticipated, the two men, without evidence, were powerless. Jiang Li stepped forward and handed City Lord Zeng a piece of paper, as if he had been waiting for this moment.

After receiving the petition, Prefect Gong summoned Clan Leader Jiang and City Lord Zeng. After thoroughly questioning them about the incident, he felt reassured.

The Jiang clan leader’s heart skipped a beat, a sense of foreboding. To sue the city lord, an official of the third rank or higher was required, and Prefect Gong was a third-rank official. While this was legal, he couldn’t understand Jiang Li’s intentions. Could suing one more city lord guarantee victory?
