The Forbidden Path to Immortality - Chapter 91

Chapter 1 Secret
“How did it come so quickly?”
Li Xun, despite being fully prepared, hadn’t expected Yu Shi to be so forthcoming, unleashing her hidden trump card so readily. He’d assumed it would take at least three or five attempts of harassment before this would happen…
Feeling the fierce aura surging like lightning from the vast void, he turned and fled without a second thought, simultaneously sending a message to Yin Sanren, telling her to move swiftly.
Even as he did this, the hairs on his back stood on end.
A cold murderous intent surged up from beneath the earth like magma.
He sucked in a breath of cold air, not daring to turn his head. He unleashed his half-baked “Shadow Devouring Skill” with all his might. Even under the blazing sun, he vanished into a shadowy, almost ethereal form, instantly disappearing into the nearby clouds.
A moment later, a massive hole had been pierced through the center of the thick cloud, stretching for miles.
Steam rose, clouds drifted, and the unforgettable shadow of the Morroth appeared, resting in the center of the vast void it had just created. Its
beastly crimson pupils darted wildly within its narrow sockets. Simultaneously, it projected at least a thousand beams of detection energy. Theoretically, no living being within a radius of dozens of miles could escape its grasp.
Soon, its target appeared.
A strange smile twisted at the corners of its cracked mouth, and its withered fingers flexed twice. The impending bloodiness invigorated it—the only thing that had ever brought it pleasure in its tens of thousands of years of existence.
Wait! One, two, three… There were far more targets than just one, but nine! This wasn’t what the dead cat had said!
Morroth’s characteristically linear thinking startled it.
It was during this moment that seven of the nine targets it had detected erupted with intense aura. Thousands of auras intertwined, forming a vast, sweeping net that enveloped it.
Threads of vital energy entwined and connected, yet surprisingly, not a single explosion of energy was heard.
The demon’s throat instinctively became alert.
At that moment, the dead cat sent another message, this time prompting it to swiftly reach its location and confront another formidable foe.
It growled in anger. It had been like this for sixty years. That damned cat, those damned women!
Despite its fury, its movements remained unwavering. Its tall, slender frame suddenly expanded, causing the surrounding atmosphere to expand dramatically, forcibly blowing the encroaching aura net away.
It took this opportunity to shift its form, poised to plunge into the nearby clouds.
“Change!”
a shout rang out. With it, the vast network of Qi, already detached from the rest of the world, suddenly trembled, countless strands of vital energy gathering and intertwining.
In a single instant, Māra-Hou sensed a profound shift in the nature of the Qi there. This shift in nature silently obliterated his previous burst of power, rendering it powerless.
The Qi gathered by the Qi instantly transformed into a bone-chilling chill, its strange power freezing his body for a moment.
Then, thousands upon thousands of Qi began to slowly circulate. Each intersection of Qi produced a new transformation, and millions of intersections equated to millions of changes.
Meanwhile, Māra-Hou’s fierce Qi surged left and right, but was always caught in the complex fluctuations of the Qi. After several such incidents, Māra-Hou finally lost his temper and howled to the heavens.
Amidst its howls, its tall, slender body suddenly shrank, and countless gray-white rays of energy erupted from the eerie, long spikes on its shoulders, like a shower of gray snow.
Snowflakes hissed and whistled, each connected by a dense, spider-web-like network of energy.
Li Xun, hiding in the clouds to one side, choked on the cloud vapor as he observed this scene.
“A three-thousand-mile frozen ghost realm… I’ve heard he swept away the ancestor’s vital energy, but I haven’t heard he even obtained such a profound technique! I haven’t even learned it!”
After a pause, he finally realized what was happening and hurriedly ordered, “Change again!”
Qin Wanru, who was still watching from the side, glanced at him, raised her slender hand, and crimson rays of energy hissed from her palm, hurling countless energy beams outward, instantly merging into the existing energy network.
As she joined, the essence of the inner energy in the void shifted once more. Just a moment, it felt like a polar ice field, cold and stagnant, but now, the air was vibrantly pulsing.
The inner energy flowing through it was like lightning and fire, swiftly shifting and changing, roiling the sky like a newly erupted volcano, magma gushing forth with unbearable heat.
“Excellent Extreme Transformation of Yin and Yang!” Li Xun exclaimed in praise.
While the three-thousand-mile frozen ghost realm was undoubtedly the perfect way to disrupt the recent cold blockade, Moluohou must have never anticipated that the masters of the Digital Yin and Yang Sect were masters of reversing yin and yang, achieving the ultimate transformation.
With this transformation, he was bound to suffer a loss.
And indeed, as expected.
The essences counteracted each other, and no matter how formidable Moluohou’s cultivation was, he felt dazed and shrunken after this blow.
However, the next moment, the furious Moluohou demonstrated to everyone present what kind of monster truly deserved to be recognized as a great demon throughout the universe!
Its eyes instantly turned blood red, and from its pupils emanated a beam of energy that had become tangible. When it struck the air, it made a hissing sound, and its viscosity was as viscous as blood, casting a faint red hue all around.
Even Li Xun, a man of extraordinary courage, gasped at the sight of such a strange and eerie gaze.
This wasn’t the end of it. A crackling sound like crackling trees echoed, and thousands of bloody holes, each the size of a baby’s mouth, opened up across the dark body of the Demon’s throat.
The sight of the charred exterior, blood-red interior, and writhing flesh was enough to make one retch, feeling that nothing in the world was more disgusting.
At that moment, the network of energy that had been constantly flowing and shifting suddenly stagnated and stiffened, as if rebounding the effects of the previous suppression. The feeling of having a powerful hand, yet being mired in a quagmire, was so suffocating that one almost wanted to vomit blood.
The demon’s throat shrieked sharply, its pitch-black form morphing from absolute stillness to extreme movement. Li Xun’s vision blurred, and he lost sight of it.
“Shit…”
Li Xun couldn’t understand why each of these so-called Seven Demons of the Universe possessed such abnormal speed. The Demon Phoenix, the Blue Luan, the Water Orchid, and even this demon’s throat!
While the speed of the first three was mostly demonstrated through their flight and ethereal form, it was a delight to behold. This creature, however, relied solely on its monstrous physique and bestiality to unleash the most brutal and instantaneous bursts.
There was no aesthetic appeal to be found. By the time Li Xun caught sight of it, a vast plume of blood had already spread.
The male cultivator from the Yin-Yang Sect, standing next to Li Xun, became the first unlucky victim.
As the thick, branch-like arm of the Demon’s Hou rose and slashed down, half of his body suddenly detached from his left shoulder, extending to his thigh. Blood spurted rapidly from the wound, and in an instant, his body withered.
However, the male cultivator’s enduring energy held him captive. With a shrill scream, both sides of his body fell through the clouds, the long tail sound falling endlessly.
Qin Wanru, a leading candidate for the future sect leader, could not allow the Demon’s Hou to slaughter her men. With a flick of her slender fingers, she used a series of extremely agile and sharp finger techniques to block the Demon’s path and successfully attract his attention.
The Demon’s Hou turned his face away, and the next moment, his body spun with the same movement, facing him with a strange and uncanny force. With a thrust of his long arm, a muffled explosion echoed through the air, shattering Qin Wanru’s concentrated finger force. Then, it flashed, charging straight from the center, intent on engaging Qin Wanru in close combat.
Just the sight of its hideous form was enough to make one nauseous for three days, let alone engaging it in close combat. No matter how resolute Qin Wanru was, the sight of Mārahou lunging at her made her palpitate. She instinctively tried to distance herself, but there was no time.
At that moment, a low whistle echoed from behind her: “Left arm, elbow!”
Qin Wanru recognized Li Xun’s voice and, hastily, regardless of its meaning, raised her left arm, freeing her ribs. A flash of cold light pierced through her as she raised her arm, striking Mārahou’s outstretched palm.
The sword tip met palm with a teeth-grinding creaking sound, followed by the crisp crack of the blade.
Countless glittering fragments scatter, only to be shattered by the surging energies of both.
Li Xun groaned softly, his chest tightening slightly, having sustained minor injuries, but his movements remained unaffected. He tugged at Qin Wanru’s vest, and the two of them shot backward.
Ahead, the Demonic Raven remained silent, its form pausing only briefly as Li Xun’s palm and sword met, then increased in speed, closing in.
Inevitably, it passed through the area where the sword fragments were scattered.
Li Xun’s Ghost Crow Sword had already been shattered in his desperate battle with the Water Butterfly Orchid, and the Jade Sword couldn’t be used here. The sword had only been borrowed temporarily, its quality was mediocre, and its shattering was natural.
However, Li Xun shattered the sword decisively, but he had other plans in mind.
As he retreated, he flicked his finger, and a faint, luminous aura shot out silently, colliding almost simultaneously with the Demonic Raven into the swirling iron dust. Immediately, with a crackling sound, the sky suddenly brightened, and the Demonic Raven’s unstoppable momentum came to a halt.
A crack seemed to open in the void, and the powerful suction, though fleeting, jolted it back.
This unexplained occurrence alarmed it, and it paused to watch.
By then, the targets had already taken advantage of the situation and fled far away.
Li Xun grinned, quite pleased with his move.
This was the “Thunderbolt Finger” technique he had recently learned from Wuyinxuan, one of the signature techniques of the Unspoken Sect. He hadn’t expected it to work so well on its first try.
Qin Wanru wasn’t in such a good mood.
While none of the men she had summoned this time were capable experts, they were all loyal to her or had strong financial ties, representing almost half of her entire sect. They
had just lost one in the blink of an eye; if another were to fall, it would be unacceptable to both themselves and the others. She acted decisively, ordering the remaining six to flee as far as they could.
Her mood shifted dramatically, from “doing our best to stall” to a complaint of “Why hasn’t that been done yet?”
Fortunately, before the demon’s fierce glare could strike again, Qin Wanru saw clearly. The demon’s murderous gaze shrank, and it tilted its head to gaze toward the distant horizon. Soon, it let out a suppressed growl, stretched its body, and headed that way.
Qin Wanru and Li Xun simultaneously let out a long breath, then glanced at each other, seeing the relief on their faces. They smiled at each other, like longtime friends.
After a smile, they both turned their heads in tacit understanding, gazing at the sky above. Their thoughts, though different in detail, were similar: “Is everything okay over there?”
“Chongyu, after hundreds of years, don’t you recognize your sister?”
Yu Shi didn’t respond immediately, and her subordinates began to observe the equally beautiful, yet distinctly different, pair of female cultivators with curious eyes.
Sister? This Feather Servant’s sister…
Two of the five men, more intelligent than others, suddenly recalled that long-ago case, and naturally, the names of the two who could stop the crying Tongxuan child.
First, Jade Wanderer, then…
Yin Wanderer!
Surprise and fear had barely begun to form when the Feather Servant’s voice, now in a distorted tone, rang out in their ears: “Fools, don’t be distracted…”
Too late! Even if they hadn’t been distracted, what would have happened?
Two balls of blood exploded simultaneously from the corners of Gui Daoist’s eyes. The glaring color instantly dyed his vision a blood-red, while two dull cracks of the brain cavities provided a precise footnote.
Against this backdrop, he felt himself begin to shiver uncontrollably. At this moment, his mind was devoid of any other thoughts, possessed only by one word: “Run!”
Unfortunately, before he could turn, he caught a glimpse of a blurry figure in the corner of his eye, which flashed by. A chill ran down his spine, and he instantly screamed, “I am the last of the Ten Demons Against the Current, and my elder brother is the First Daoist. I hope you, senior, will spare my elder brother’s life…”
It was rare for him to manage so many words in such a short time. Unfortunately, before he could utter the final words, “Spare my life,” he was struck by a palm strike to the head. A shimmering aura, sometimes dark and sometimes bright, penetrated his head like a sheet of thin paper, piercing from head to toe, wiping out all hope of life.
In the blink of an eye, five capable cultivators perished. Their bodies fell one after another, predictably turning into a heap of mud in a matter of moments.
Yin Sanren brushed the nonexistent dust from her sleeves
. Killing five cultivators was no different to her than straightening her clothes.
Especially now, having mastered the Yin Fu Jing, she wouldn’t be afraid even if Yu Sanren were here… Of course, that was if someone agreed.
She glanced at Yu Shi again, a hint of resignation on her face.
“Chongyu, I don’t want to hurt you, but you can’t let that little beast in your arms ruin our sisterly time together, can you?”
Yu Shi was still unmoved, but “Cat” twitched again as Yin Sanren spoke, burying its head even deeper.
The moment Yin Sanren launched his killing spree, “Cat” cleverly dove into Yu Shi’s arms, ducking its head, thus avoiding being chopped off by Yin Sanren.
Yu Shi, the moment Yu Shi was in Yu Shi’s arms, used it to call for help from Mārahou, a mere hundred miles away. If all went well, Mārahou would be back in just a few breaths.
As for the Hundred Ghosts… we’ll talk about that later.
However, until all five of his men were killed, there was still no trace of Mo Luo Hou. Yu Shi’s face was so pale that it was almost transparent, and the slender hand that was originally stroking Xue Wen’s body had unconsciously increased its strength.
“Cat” cried out in pain, but did not dare to move an inch.
Yin Sanren walked slowly towards him, stepping on the clouds and mist: “Chong Yu, why are you afraid? Are you afraid of me? Afraid of your own sister? Because of Gu Zhixuan? Is he worth your life? For such a guy who has a grudge for killing your husband and raping you?”
Yu Shi pursed her lips and shook her head very slightly, but her body could not help but step back.
Yin Sanren’s eyes gradually turned cold, but he finally sighed, his figure flashed, and in the blink of an eye he was in front of Yu Shi.
Xue Wen screamed, suddenly closed his eyes, and buried his head in Yu Shi’s arms.
However, in the blink of an eye, Feather Servant tapped her forehead. She was, in fact, a true-level expert, far from being so reckless. It was only because her mind was confused that Yin Sanren succeeded in striking her.
Her eyes dimmed, but a look of relief washed over her. Finally, she closed them and collapsed into Yin Sanren’s arms.
Yin Sanren sighed again, supporting Feather Servant with one hand while grasping Blood Kiss by the scruff of the neck with the other, lifting him up.
This little creature had been specifically requested by Li Xun, and now it seemed there was something quite mysterious about it.
Though the “cat” hadn’t transformed into a human form, its intelligence was no less than human. Its pupils shone with intense fear, and its front paws thrashed in the air, as if begging for mercy.
Seeing its intelligence, Yin Sanren smiled.
“You’re quite understanding, little one. But, when am I going to…”
Before she could even utter the words “Kill you,” her eyes suddenly grew cold. She glanced at the “cat” in her grasp, and then she relaxed unnaturally. Immediately, a faint red light flickered on its forehead, and a young woman’s voice rang out.
“Huh? You female Taoist priest are so unreasonable! Why are you holding on to my ‘cat’?”
Yin Sanren, with far more insight than Li Xunchu, discerned at a glance that the red gem embedded in the ‘cat’s’ head was a precious magical artifact from the Tongxuan Realm, used to remotely control the consciousness of distant beings. It’s similar to the Corpse-Exorcism Puppetry Technique, though not as thorough.
The advantage, perhaps, is that it doesn’t harm the carrier’s life.
“Soul-Locking Halo? Gu Zhixuan has become increasingly generous over the years!” She chuckled softly, raising the Blood Kiss higher, bringing it to eye level with her. “Niece Wuyou, right? It’s been a while since we last met!”
Her gesture made it seem as if she were conversing with the ‘cat’. It looked rather comical, but neither party involved had any such thought.
“Yeah? Have I seen you before? Who are you?”
Lin Wuyou said this with all sincerity. While they had clashed before in Songjing, Yin Sanren, lurking in the shadows, hadn’t seen her before.
However, if she couldn’t discern Yin Sanren’s identity, it was probably a bit of a show.
Yin Sanren didn’t care, simply smiling, “Is Gu Zhixuan here?”
“Father? He’s in seclusion. Hey, you haven’t told me who you are yet? I can’t just keep calling you ‘hey, hey,’ or just call you a female Taoist priest… Ouch, mother, you’re scratching me!”
After a burst of mumbling, a clear voice emerged from the Soul-Locking Circular Light—a steady, low, and graceful voice.
“Yin Chonghua?”
“Qixia Yuanjun?”
A pause between the two sides, and Yin Sanren smiled, presumably reflecting on the demon phoenix.
Finally, it was Yao Feng who spoke first: “When Qing Luan came back, she said that San Ren and Wei Bufan had encountered some troubles. Now I am glad to see that San Ren is safe.”
Yin San Ren smiled bitterly in his heart, but did not show it on his face. He just smiled and said, “Thank you for your concern, Yuan Jun. It has been more than sixty years since I left this world. The situation in the world has changed drastically, which makes me, a wandering soul, feel confused. Gu Zhixuan has good means, and Yuan Jun also has good means!”
“No matter how good the means are, they can’t compare to San Ren’s extraordinary moves… Why did San Ren take my maid like this and snatch away my son’s beloved pet?”
A cold light flashed in Yin San Ren’s eyes, and he was a little angry because Yao Feng called him “maid”.
But soon, she calmed down and chuckled, “Speaking of this matter, it has nothing to do with Yuanjun. If you have time, you might as well call Gu Zhixuan. He has been in seclusion all day long, but he doesn’t see people like Zhong Yin. What are they in seclusion for? It’s so boring.”
“What Sanren said is exactly what I think!” Yaofeng praised, and then ordered to the side, “Go to the “Dongxuan Hall” and see if your father is willing to meet his old friend. “
Lin Wuyou said “Oh” in a depressed tone, but Yin Sanren suddenly said, “No need for that today. I will reach the extreme point soon. It will be great to meet old friends then! Well, I like this Blood Kiss very much. How about borrowing it for a few days?”
“No!” Before Yaofeng could speak, Lin Wuyou took the lead and said anxiously, “Why should I give you my cat? Mother, please say something for me!”
Yaofeng smiled softly on the other side, “My dear, Sanren is famous for doing whatever he wants. What’s the difference between saying it or not? If Sanren has the ability, he can take it. But…”
After a pause, her voice had turned into a cold and chilling tone.
“Sanren must remember that the Tongxuan Realm at this time is very different from the past!”
As the last voice was cut off, the light of the “Soul-Locking Circle” on the cat’s forehead also dimmed. This was because Yaofeng took the initiative to cut off the communication.
Yin Sanren wasn’t one to be frightened. While she wasn’t completely unresponsive to Yao Feng’s warning, she certainly didn’t take it completely to heart.
She simply squinted her eyes and shook the cat by the scruff of its neck, trying to locate the control point for the Soul-Locking Circle of Light.
Perhaps because she’d shaken the cat too hard, Blood Kiss let out a loud “Ah!”, its previously limp body suddenly tensing up. The fur on its neck was incredibly slippery, and with a single twist, Yin Sanren’s fingers slipped, nearly releasing it.
Yin Sanren saw clearly that immediately after the cry, a circle of grayish-white light suddenly expanded from beneath Blood Kiss’s fur, rippling like water, instantly spreading to the tips of its hairs before shimmering outwards.
Yin Sanren exclaimed softly. This aura was all too familiar to her; it was clearly the purest form of deathly yin energy. How could this little demon possess such power?
On second thought, considering that it had devoured Blood Wanderer’s Red Soldier Ghost Chain back then, and now had a vague connection to the Demonic Throat, it wasn’t impossible for it to draw death energy from either source.
Her thoughts raced, but her hands flowed with mastery. With a few whirlwinds of Qi, she dissipated the onslaught, effortlessly.
However, the next moment, her ease was gone.
While she was distracted by the impact of Blood Kiss’s aura, a hurricane-like murderous aura suddenly erupted from the void a hundred feet away. Disregarding distance, it swept through the death energy and crashed down, slamming into her clear, frozen Dao heart.
It came so fast!
Yin Sanren was slightly surprised, but at that moment, out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of a dark afterimage streaking through the air. It wasn’t aimed at her vitals, but at the feathered attendant in her arms.
“Mara Hou!”
With a low cry, Yin Sanren retreated abruptly. Her hands were now occupied, and facing this sudden, formidable foe of her own level, she was inevitably at a disadvantage.
Mara Hou seized the opportunity, his long arms lashing out like a mantis, stabbing hundreds of times in a flash.
The pure death energy, imbued with its innate demonic absorption, struck the air with a crackling sound, as if splitting the very void. She
narrowly avoided a horizontal slash by holding onto the feathered attendant, but she was too careless to care about the wide sleeves of her robe. With a hiss, a slice was cleaved off by Mara Hou’s empty slash. Yin Sanren was now truly enraged. Her gaze focused, and the energy around her suddenly radiated outward. The void coalesced into a solid, condensed whip of energy. With a flick, a deafening explosion erupted.
The whip’s tail slashed past her eyes, its sharp, cold edge like a knife, causing even a ferocious being like Moluohou to shrink slightly.
Yin Sanren, however, didn’t intend to use the whip to counter the enemy. After briefly shocking Moluohou, she flung Feather Servant backward without a glance.
Over there, Li Xun and Qin Wanru were rushing towards
her. Yin Sanren had intended to challenge Moluohou to a duel, but the beast had no intention of engaging in battle. Glancing at Feather Servant, it made
a “gulp” sound in its throat, and then dodged again, drawing a short arc, seemingly attempting to bypass Yin Sanren and continue her pursuit.
How could Yin Sanren grant its wish?
Honestly, of the Seven Demons of the Universe, Moluohou was the one she despised the most.
A demonic appearance would be fine, but she also possessed the brain of a beast. While her demonic skills were truly earth-shattering, she was, at best, a single-minded individual. To be compared to the other six demons and the three wanderers was truly despicable.
Furthermore, she had been simmering with resentment since her spiritual consciousness returned, yet she couldn’t show it.
Now she had finally found this opportunity, how could she let it go? However, before she could strike, Moluohou’s bloodshot eyes flashed, and he let out a cry. A long arm extended, a grayish-white aura dancing from it like star balls, rising and falling, as if ignited by gray flames, eerie and terrifying.
Then, a lightning bolt shot out, striking Yin Sanren in the face.
This attack was completely harmless, and Yin Sanren simply turned his head and let it pass.
However, just as the bolt of light passed her, she suddenly woke up and reached back to grab. Moluohou wouldn’t give her that chance. With another low growl, he charged forward, his dry fingers hooked, clawing directly at the Blood Kiss in her hand.
The little demon in Yin Sanren’s grasp was clever, taking advantage of this opening to struggle again. While its aura wasn’t particularly lethal, the wave after wave of potential shockwaves was incredibly troublesome, and dealing with this distracted Yin Sanren.
In a flash, Yin Sanren understood what Morahou was up to—or rather, what the person behind Morahou was planning.
Now, she faced a dilemma.
Either concentrate and block Morahou’s claws, or let the arrow of light kill her own sister—it was hardly a choice. Without a second thought, Yin Sanren hurled the Blood Kiss at Morahou’s face.
The Blood Kiss screamed, but Morahou, concerned about it, quickly withdrew his momentum and frantically tried to catch it.
Yin Sanren glanced coldly, using the momentum to spin and shoot backward. Midway through, he snapped his fingers, his force arriving first and shattering the arrow of light.
Qin Wanru finally arrived, spreading her sleeves and embracing the feather servant.
Yin Sanren glanced back coldly, seeing the bloody kiss firmly planted on Moluohou’s shoulder, its claws still gripping a shoulder thorn. His eyes wandered, a hint of lingering fear.
Moluohou’s glare was a thousand times more ferocious. Though he had the upper hand, Yin Sanren’s impenetrable defense left him with no outlet for his bloodlust, leaving him extremely irritated.
However, a low meow from “Cat” forcibly suppressed the fury in his bloodshot eyes. He glared fiercely at Yin Sanren and then shot backward, disappearing in an instant.
At that moment, Qin Wanru also rushed over from behind, curiously saying, “Master, that Blood Kiss is crucial. The Demonic Throat seems quite afraid of it.”
Yin Sanren hummed, but glanced at Li Xun on the other side.
Li Xun coughed lightly, “What a pity! If we could have taken down that Blood Kiss, perhaps we could have countered the Demonic Throat. But being able to intercept Madam Yu this time is a goal we’ve achieved, so congratulations!”
Qin Wanru glared at him, rather displeased with the term “Madam Yu.”
However, Li Xun couldn’t find a more appropriate name at the moment, so he simply ignored Qin Wanru’s expression.
“But, with all due respect, Madam Yu’s mental state isn’t quite right. I’ve had a few encounters with her over the years, and uh, I can’t tell… Perhaps it’s some kind of mystical bewitching technique from Yu Sanren that’s at work.”
He was vague about Madam Yu’s attitude.
Honestly, if Li Xun hadn’t known Madam Yu’s origins so well, judging by her expression and demeanor, he wouldn’t have guessed she’d been the victim of Yu Sanren’s “abduction.”
Qin Wanru naturally didn’t want to hear such talk. She looked at Yin Sanren expectantly, hoping for a definitive answer from her supposedly all-powerful master.
Yin Sanren’s face remained expressionless. He simply reached out and gently stroked Madam Yu’s face, then nodded.
“Indeed, it’s a spell to confuse the mind. While it’s difficult to remove, it can be solved… Wait, what is that?”
Li Xun and the others were startled. Yin Sanren’s face was as dark as water, her eyes cold, clearly a state of extreme distress. Under their startled gazes, she offered a toothy smile, but the murderous intent within it was chilling and intimidating.
“Soul-annihilating silk… very good! Taoist Gu has finally made progress over the years!”
“Soul-annihilating silk?”
Li Xun was puzzled, while Qin Wanru was horrified. The two reactions reversed in an instant. Li Xun finally understood what “Soul-annihilating silk” was, while Qin Wanru was bewildered.
Soul-annihilating silk is a renowned magical weapon crafted by the renowned weapon-refining sect Qianfan City. It is primarily used to attack spiritual consciousness and shock the soul. It can be implanted into the human body, remaining invisible and capable of being controlled even from a distance of thousands of miles. With a single thought, it can be used to intimidate and control others.
While it lacks the sophistication of methods like the Corpse-Exorcism Puppetry Technique, which can lock the soul and prevent a person from dying, it offers a significant advantage with minimal investment, making it a highly practical option.
Because the Soul-Destroying Silk enters the body and hides without any noticeable signs, many cultivators were subdued by it, their lives in the hands of others, and they inevitably resorted to shameful acts. This made everyone in the sects feel insecure, and also caused chaos in the Tongxuan Realm for a period of time.
However, Qin Wanru still didn’t understand.
“How could it be Soul-Destroying Silk? Didn’t Qianfan City destroy all of the ‘Soul-Destroying Silk’ before the other cultivators? We also swore on the sect’s destiny that we would never again create this damn thing, even destroying a key instrument for it. How could there still be some in this world…”
Yin Sanren hummed, seeming to be distracted. He just casually said, “Even if the various sects cast a wide net, they can’t destroy them all. What’s a few Soul-Destroying Silks…”
After a pause, she chuckled softly, “But, does the arrogant Gu Zhixuan also have such a lack of confidence?”
