Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 998
Chapter 989, The Evil God’s Grace
Gu Jing glanced at the rapidly advancing enemy.
It was indeed an elite force, evidently one they held in high regard.
Not only were they the most elite Marines, but they were also led by dozens of Chaos Space Marines.
But alas, they were already too late.
Even if the troops sent to stop and destroy him had arrived, it would have been pointless.
Before arriving, Gu Jing had already known about the presence of Space Marines among the enemy. These men now appeared to be Chaos Space Marines. Previously, they had been training Terra’s Orbital Defense Force as “instructors” under the guise of a loyal Chapter.
Of course, by now, it should be clear that they were invited by these Chaos traitors to assist, and they were undoubtedly Chaos Space Marines.
A force of several dozen was not a small number. Furthermore, Gu Jing was certain there were experts among them.
But what could he do?
It was too late, it was too late.
After Gu Jing concluded his internal review of the Solar Fleet, he realized that there was another key issue to address in order to disengage Song Min’s fleet: Holy Terra’s orbital defense system.
While previous interrogations hadn’t revealed the precise identities of these high-ranking officers and generals within the Tzeentch Cult—this was perfectly normal, as Tzeentch cults always prioritized secrecy in this area—
they did reveal that a significant number of high-level orders originated from an orbital fortress known as the “Base Holy Grail.”
This orbital fortress was one of the most crucial within Holy Terra’s defense system.
Quietly, Gu Jing used his psychic powers to sneak in without triggering the fortress’s anti-psychic transmission alarms.
He then lay in wait, biding his time .
At this point in the battle, Gu Jing could see that Robert was planning to transition from a coordinated attack to a direct assault, aiming to seize control of Holy Terra’s orbit.
Therefore, there was no need to hide; he could act immediately.
His method of action was to summon more troops and enter the battlefield directly.
It wouldn’t be impossible for him to completely control this orbital fortress and eliminate the likely corrupted leader of Tzeentch alone, but it would be somewhat difficult.
After all, one person can’t do the work of many. Although he was considered a “son of God,” he was still alone, and could easily be pinned down by enemy strategies, presenting him with a difficult choice. He
wouldn’t return empty-handed, but he could certainly miss several important targets.
So, he might as well summon as many helpers as possible.
Even if he was exposed, it wouldn’t matter; the teleportation array was already in place.
With his abilities, getting a hundred or so Space Marines in wouldn’t be a problem.
Meanwhile, ready to go were the elite from the Grey Knights and Black Crosses.
Grand Master Changting of the Grey Knights and Grand Marshal Rosmond of the Black Crosses were two of the highest caliber, chosen champions. Changting
‘s Grey Knights were top experts in dealing with demonic corruption; Rosmond’s personal guards were champion swordsmen.
This team had endured the explosion of Fortress World Cartier, the wanderings of the Warp and the Eldar Webway, and the Terran Crusade organized by Robert, fighting to this day. Many of them perished along the way, but those who survived to this day were, without exception, the strongest.
Before Gu Jing arrived, he explained the objectives of the operation and the potential risks to them, and they accepted without hesitation.
Saving Holy Terra was their duty.
The traitors from the Magi Legion, sent by Gallardo, faced this unmatched force, both psychologically and militarily.
The outcome was predictable.
Without hesitation, the Swordmaster, Rossmond, took the lead.
The traitors from the Magi Chapter even attempted to use Chaos sorcery to thwart the Swordmaster.
They were known for their prowess in this area, with most Magi being exceptional Chaos sorcerers alongside their Space Marines.
Even beneath their sturdy power armor, their bodies had long since mutated into forms perfectly suited for psychic energy, no longer bearing any resemblance to humans.
However, they faced the Grey Knights.
Grand Master Changting simply struck his staff downward, and the exorcism scripture engraved on his armor and that of dozens of Grey Knights illuminated.
While not capable of completely eliminating psychic activity in an entire area like the Sisters of Silence or the Unleaked, the Grey Knights possessed their own unique abilities. They were experts in countering psychic and demonic forces, not only because they could suppress their enemies’ abilities but also because they had the means to exploit them.
More than half of the traitorous sages found their Chaos spells suddenly ineffective. Of the remaining half who succeeded, another half found their spells working against them. They weren’t completely eliminated, but at least, in their flurry of activity, they couldn’t effectively impact Rosemond.
However, the remaining quarter managed to cast their spells successfully.
Blue flames, pink shockwaves, disturbing mind-bending attacks… all manner of spells descended.
Yet, Rosmond simply struck with a single blow.
He knew nothing of magic, sorcery, or the Warp; he knew only his sword. What he possessed was the swordsmanship honed over millennia, and beneath that, a resolute will that could not be shaken by psychic powers or the evil magic of the Warp.
These evil spells and sorceries had absolutely no effect on him. In fact, with a single blow of his sword, the spells were shattered.
Along with them, the Chaos Sorcerer Lord’s head was severed.
Then, Rosmond, charging into the crowd, unleashed his unparalleled might.
Whether it was the traitorous warriors of the Sage Legion or the elite soldiers enhanced by Tzeentch’s foul magic, none could stand a chance against him.
He single-handedly ripped the entire formation to shreds.
Then, the charge, unable to catch up with his personal guards, finally arrived at the battlefield.
They were helpless, yet extremely skilled in exploiting the flaws created by their own Grand Marshal, expanding their gains and accelerating the slaughter.
The Grey Knights, who had followed suit, also increased their pace.
However, throughout this entire process, Gu Jing remained absent.
This didn’t surprise the Grey Knights and Black Crusaders.
After resolving the immediate battle, they immediately split into two groups.
One group, led by the Grey Knights’ Grand Master Changting, was tasked with seizing the entire fortress and clearing it of corruption.
Changting was perfectly suited for this kind of mission. How to identify the corrupted, how to quickly eliminate them, how to temporarily appease others and turn them into support…
these were the Grey Knights’ original duties.
He simply hadn’t imagined that he would one day be doing this kind of work on Holy Terra.
Oh, and there was also the added task of silencing witnesses.
However, silencing the witnesses was clearly not the top priority right now, and it even seemed unnecessary given the current situation.
Rosemond, along with two personal guards, was to follow Gu Jing’s route to support him.
When the previous battle erupted, Gu Jing had vanished while no one was paying attention.
The outcome of that battle was undeniable to Gu Jing, but he had more important priorities: intercepting the leader.
Gu Jing had sensed that the man was about to escape.
He couldn’t let him get away so easily.
Disabling the cultist’s command was paramount.
Just as the cultists could sense him, he could also sense them through his connection.
The cult leader was clearly very perceptive.
He didn’t place all his hopes on the strongest team he had dispatched, hoping they would be able to stop Gu Jing. The cult leader was prepared for the worst.
He initially headed towards the helipad, attempting to board a fast space fighter to leave the base.
But just as he was about to reach the fighter, he stopped.
He seemed to realize that the troops he had sent out were powerless to stop the enemy. Gu Jing, the one posing the greatest threat to him, didn’t care about fighting at all and instead charged straight at him.
If he continued to choose to board the fighter plane, he wouldn’t be able to escape.
Even if he boarded, Gu Jing could likely use his powerful psychic power to pull him down from the plane.
He had to resort to a faster method,
such as teleportation, targeting the ground.
This was possible for most highly skilled psychics; the difficulty lay in the psychic confrontation between the two sides.
For example, if Gu Jing quietly entered the fortress and teleported a hundred Space Marines in, many S-level psychics could do it; however, they couldn’t penetrate the fortress’s anti-psychic teleportation equipment. With interference, not only could a hundred Space Marines be transported in, even an S-level psychic himself wouldn’t be able to enter using this method.
Not to mention, it wouldn’t be possible without anyone noticing.
Gu Jing could do it because his level was far superior to that of an S-level psychic.
For the leader of the Tzeentch sect, the challenge in teleporting to the surface wasn’t the teleportation itself, but how to accomplish it despite Gu Jing’s interference.
Of course, Gu Jing couldn’t just stand by and watch him succeed; the necessary interference methods had already been deployed.
But he relied on Tzeentch’s blessing.
The teleportation array was quickly constructed and ready.
Gu Jing could already sense the other person standing in the center of the array,
but it hadn’t activated.
It seemed as if they were chanting a prayer, communalizing with the Warp, calling for a blessing.
And Tzeentch generously granted it!
If everything happening on Holy Terra was a grand performance, then the four most important audience members were unstinting in rewarding the “actors” who could bring more excitement to the performance. They also generously supported their favorite actors, ensuring the results were even more to their liking.
Gu Jing felt a surge of terror!
His long-relied assistant, the Lord of Change, suddenly shut down. Even after being washed once, the very nature of the Warp had long since changed. Under the sheer pressure, he had transformed from a monstrous, winged Demon Lord into a trembling quail.
But he refused to give up.
Had he, Gu Jing, relied solely on the Myriad Changes Demon Lord, gifted by his father, to get him this far?
No.
He still possessed a fragment of the Eldar godhead core, also given by his father.
He unhesitatingly tapped into its power, harnessing the strength of an Alpha-class psyker to the fullest, continuing his teleportation, thrust against the target.
Meanwhile, his body, in a reckless burst of energy, flew at breakneck speed, closing in on the target.
Blood began to flow from the corners of his mouth. His interference wouldn’t last long. He had to arrive in person before he collapsed, then physically engage the enemy at close range. He had to
hold out until Rossmond arrived, only then could he stop the enemy.
Now was the most dangerous moment.
But he had overestimated himself.
As if feeling provoked, or perhaps finding the game here more intriguing, he paid a little more attention… In short, Gu Jing felt the pressure suddenly increase.
He was already feeling breathless, and this moment nearly crushed him.
But at that moment, a surge of strength rose from within him, straightening his spine.
Simultaneously, a thunderous flash of lightning struck through the warp. A
faint laugh turned into a startled scream, only to be drowned out by an even more intense explosion of thunder.
Gu Jing could guess what was happening, so he couldn’t let them down.
Flying faster, Gu Jing finally reached his destination.
He saw the traitorous leader.
“It’s you…”
Gu Jing was honestly a little surprised.
Anyone who had spent any time in the Alliance’s upper echelons knew that the Alliance had a greatest ally in the Imperial Center: Prime Minister Gallardo of the Ministry of Military Affairs.
But he had never imagined that this man would actually be on the opposing side.
With his teleportation unsuccessful, Gallardo’s efforts would not have been in vain.
His body was filled with the evil magic of the Warp, constantly growing larger and larger, to the point of tearing his clothes.
Eyes began to appear one after another on his twisted body, and one by one they opened.
A smile lingered on his twitching face.
“Ah, it’s you, Gu Jing… You look 60% like your father.”
“That’s fine, let me first accept the 60% interest for being deceived and toyed with by him for so many years.”
