Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 978
Chapter 969, The Road to Godhood
In reality, Zakaria, as the leader of a branch within the Wolf Pack, a major faction among the traitors, and commander of an entire Disaster Fleet, held a considerable position within the Chaos faction. Otherwise
, Bassol would not have chosen Zakaria as one of his most important collaborators.
However, even so, Zakaria had no idea what Bassol was collecting those “relics.”
He didn’t even know what they were.
It didn’t matter. He simply knew that Bassol was aiming for godhood, and that these “relics” were the key to his apotheosis.
But Gu Hang was different.
After receiving information from Zakaria, a high-ranking captive, combined with his research findings on the relic he had seized, Gu Hang gained a deeper understanding and speculation about Bassol’s plans.
If the remains of this former Four Evil God were pieced together and assembled with immense magical power, they would undoubtedly be an extraordinary artifact.
For Bassor, a Warp God so close to becoming one of the Four Gods, mastering this artifact might actually help him take that crucial step.
Unfortunately, Zakaria’s words alone revealed no real progress.
Gu Hang felt he had to prepare for the worst-case scenario.
Now, with the help of the Chaos Traitor Army and the might of the Chaos Warmaster, Archathon, he was traversing the universe collecting fragments of the “legacy.” This was quite a grandiose undertaking.
Even if Gu Hang had only just grasped his plans and the key locations of the “relics” he sought to collect, the Four Gods, as the masters of the Warp, would undoubtedly have a clearer understanding.
Even the Emperor, perhaps, should have a clearer understanding than Gu Hang.
This was primarily due to Gu Hang’s youth.
He had been in this universe for over a hundred years. By the standards of ordinary mortals, this was already an aspirational age. However, for the human elite, who could undergo life-extending surgery, anyone under 150 was considered young. Not to mention compared to the eons-old evil gods, Gu Hang was merely a newly born infant.
No matter how powerful an “infant” might be, there were many things it couldn’t possibly know that required the experience of a long life.
Would these powerful beings truly wish for a new evil god to emerge in the Warp?
The strained relations between the Four Gods, and between them and humanity, clearly revealed their unwillingness to see a new being equal to themselves.
Bassol himself understood this.
He now boldly pursued his plans, which, in Gu Hang’s view, led to three possibilities:
either he had made thorough preparations, unconcerned with the Four Gods or the Emperor’s interference. Or, he
had no alternative but to push forward swiftly.
Or, he was no longer surrounded by enemies and had strong backing, allowing him to proceed without worry.
These three factors aren’t mutually exclusive; they could all exist simultaneously.
This, in turn, is what Gu Hang worries most.
Imagine Bassol has already made all the necessary preparations for godhood, lacking only the relic. Perhaps he’s already amassed a significant number of fragments, missing only the final batch, making it difficult to gather them secretly and requiring open robbery. Furthermore, he’s negotiated some kind of exchange of interests with one or more other evil gods, forming a tacit understanding and even gaining their support… The thought is terrifying.
That meant Bassol would be extremely difficult to stop.
Furthermore, Bassol had been forced to the point where he had no alternative but to become a god. This meant that, given the difficulty of stopping him, he would remain extremely aggressive, posing a formidable threat.
However, regardless of the situation, one thing was certain: Gu Hang had to find a way to stop him.
Four evil gods lurking within the Warp were already a formidable burden. Adding another powerful evil god, one filled with hostility towards humanity, would only worsen the situation.
The method for stopping him was now quite clear: preventing the complete collection of the relic.
However, there were two problems.
The first, and a significant problem, was that Gu Hang, through his analysis of the fragment he had seized, concluded that it was a very small fragment compared to the relic’s full size.
It wasn’t essential for the complete relic.
Having it would certainly be beneficial; it would save time and reduce the difficulty of the final assembly. But if there truly were none, Gu Hang, with his abilities, could easily complete the missing fragment with some time, not to mention the even more powerful Bassol in the realm of creation.
This meant that Gu Hang couldn’t just keep it to himself, guaranteeing it wouldn’t be accessible to the enemy and rest easy.
What a pity. If it were a necessary fragment, Gu Hang could simply wait for the enemy to attack. Playing home turf would clearly be easier.
Without this advantage, Gu Hang would have to find at least one necessary fragment to block Bassol’s path to advancement.
This immediately led to the second problem: how to find the relics?
Before Bassol began his search for them, no one had noticed the uniqueness of these lost fragments hidden across worlds. If the evil god’s minions hadn’t activated them in the catacombs of Papalil, even if the Alliance knew they were in the cathedral crypts, determining the specific coffin containing the relic would have required a lengthy and thorough search.
They couldn’t find any clues in a single tomb, and now it’s almost impossible to expand the scope of the search to the entire universe.
Bassol must have some way to echo and locate the relic fragments.
And Gu Hang must also have this method.
The next thing he has to do is to use the fragment in his hand and its connection with other fragments to create a positioning method.
It sounds simple, but it is quite difficult to do.
This relic fragment is different from the Como fragment of the Thousand-Faced God that Gu Hang once mastered.
The Thousand-Faced God is still alive, and it is relatively easy to echo him from one of his fragments.
But the relic left by this unknown existence has been broken for who knows how many tens of thousands of years, and it is extremely difficult to echo other fragments.
Bassolvi has been preparing for this matter for too long, and he certainly has the means to do it.
Gu Hang doesn’t know if he is too late.
