Chapter 961, The Thousand-Faced God

was willing to meet with the old woman. Her unconditional surrender, coupled with her past attempts at goodwill toward humanity, and her previous role as a “Dark Elf spy,” were all important factors.

However, the most decisive factor was that Gu Hang had many questions he wanted to ask the old woman.

About many things.

…

“Let’s start with the Eldar’s surrender.” Gu Hang sat rather casually.

The old woman didn’t speak immediately, simply observing him.

For a god, such direct observation and staring wasn’t exactly a good idea,

but she couldn’t help herself.

The biggest factor was that Gu Hang presented himself as… too ordinary.

He wore an outfit that, in human terms, fell somewhere between formal and casual—uncomplicated yet still maintaining a certain solemnity. He sat in his chair, his posture casual, yet not too frivolous.

This suited the image of a human leader.

But it was so fitting that it struck the old woman as unreal.

From the simple perspective, she couldn’t discern anything.

Taking a deep breath, the old woman began to answer the questions honestly.

She had come on behalf of the Dark Eldar to discuss unconditional surrender.

Unconditional surrender didn’t mean simply laying down arms without further ado or offering no conditions. Rather, it meant no negotiations. The victor would simply present unilateral surrender demands and specific details, such as time and location, to the defeated nation.

Furthermore, the victor would not recognize the political authority of the former government, political groups, or leaders of the defeated nation. From the moment the surrender was signed until a new relationship was established with the victor, all functions of the defeated government would be exercised by the victor’s military headquarters.

While there would be no negotiations, the Dark Eldar sought an explanation from the Alliance regarding their surrender.

The first reason for their willingness to surrender was, of course, that they had no other options and could not win.

The second reason, as stated by the old woman, was that surrendering to humanity would not only bring an end to the war but also offer hope for a new phase of development for the Eldar.

In other words, she didn’t believe that the Eldar’s unconditional surrender, bringing Comoros and their entire race under the Alliance’s control, would be a catastrophe for them.

On the contrary, it was the future. The Eldar would thrive because of it.

Hearing this, Gu Hang smiled.

“What grounds do you base such a judgment? Perhaps, after your unconditional surrender, you’ll face the slaughter?”

“Will you do that?”

“Perhaps,” Gu Hang said. “Dark Eldar… properly managing you is a very risky proposition. A rebellion would be a serious problem. Whether the benefits of keeping you would outweigh the risks of managing and suppressing you is uncertain.”

Gu Hang’s words were actually quite frank.

The old woman, upon hearing this, didn’t become angry or anything like that because she wasn’t promised safety.

“All this is Mensha’s will. I believe in Mensha, and I believe in you.”

Gu Hang heard something that intrigued him even more.

As for the reason for his understanding, it came from their deity, Mensha.

Because Gu Hang had just captured an Eldar god and learned something from it.

The Eldar Empire, once the overlord of the universe, also had its own racial gods. Some studies generally claim that the Eldar once had many gods, a so-called Pantheon, where the gods sat above and protected the entire race.

However, the history of the Eldar is too ancient, and the race as a whole is also mysterious to humans. Human alien researchers have a very incomplete understanding of the Eldar.

And when Gu Hang captured the residual soul of the Como sword, he began to digest the warp essence of this Eldar god, just as he had digested the captured Great Demons and Neuron Worms in the past.

But it failed.

The Warp’s essence was present, and abundant, even more so than that of a great demon—this was just a fallen Eldar god, reduced to a so-called divine sword, yet it possessed such power!

However, recalling the previous battle, judging by the three swords wielded by Victor, it was not surprising that Como’s remnant possessed such immense power.

If it were simply powerful, it would only make digestion slightly more difficult, not unbearable.

The core problem lay in two key areas.

Gu Hang first encountered the immense “distractions” attached to it. When the Eldar Empire collapsed, it was as if the despair of trillions of Eldar had attached itself to this God of Despair, carrying it ever since.

Consuming it without a care in the world would be extremely dangerous. Those remnants of despair would likely resonate endlessly throughout Gu Hang’s Kingdom of Storms.

Of course, if that were all, it wouldn’t stop Gu Hang from “consuming” it.

It simply took a little longer to process, slowly shedding those lingering thoughts bit by bit.

All in all, it was merely an inconvenience, and wouldn’t stop Gu Hang from devouring Como.

However, another problem presented a far greater challenge.

While consuming Como, Gu Hang discovered that it wasn’t a single entity.

It wasn’t even a fragment; it was connected to a distant, powerful being.

The entity across from him, while perhaps inferior to the Four Gods or the Emperor, was at least on the same level as himself.

However, it seemed to be in a very weakened state.

While this connection was subtle, difficult to detect unless Gu Hang was attempting to devour and digest Como, this hidden connection was incredibly strong.

It was as if…

they were one and the same, different manifestations of the same being.

This prevented Gu Hang from consuming it unless he could capture the other side of it, linking it to the other side as well.

“What are these gods of your Eldar… exactly? Could you, old woman, explain this to me?”

“I’d love to, but I can’t,” the old woman replied truthfully.

But before Gu Hang could express his disappointment, he saw the old woman’s body suddenly begin to glow faintly.

“However, you can talk directly to…”

Her voice began to grow hazy, and then the tone of her voice changed, becoming a mixture of male and female:

“… talk directly to us.”

Gu Hang’s expression softened.

Como’s remnant, a distant, connected being, seemed to have appeared before him.

“Who are you?”

“I am Windsor, Mensa, and Como… One god, a thousand faces.”

“I am one of the ten thousand statues within the temple, the embodiment of all the Eldar’s achievements, emotions, and thoughts…”

Hearing this, Gu Hang waved his hand, “Enough… I know what you are.”

“Just a loser. It’s just that I thought you were a bunch of losers, but it turns out you’re all the same, right?”
