Chapter 946: The Emperor, please don’t get up

Over the long years, the Dark Eldar have established countless Veil Gates across the universe.

They’re indispensable everywhere ,

even near Holy Terra.

Perhaps they wouldn’t dare send raiding parties directly into Holy Terra. Even when the Human Imperium was in decline, Holy Terra, as the Imperium’s core, remained a powerful force.

Every bit of Dark Eldar power is precious and cannot be wasted carelessly. The risk-benefit ratio must be carefully considered.

Raiding near Holy Terra is not only difficult due to the prey’s strong defenses, but any sign of them would be vulnerable to a strong attack from the Human Empire, making it uneconomical.

However, this area is incredibly important. Holy Terra is the heart of the Human Empire, offering access to a wealth of information. If they heard of a transport convoy operating outside the core area of the Human Empire, they could pass on the information and then organize a raiding party to steal the cargo in a relatively safe location.

They have always had personnel lurking within Holy Terra, conducting quiet, understated, and silent operations.

To support their activities within Holy Terra, a modest Veiled Spirit Gate was naturally constructed within the Solar System.

It would be too ostentatious if it weren’t on Holy Terra itself. However, within the Solar System, it’s possible.

On the edge of the system, in the asteroid belt, the Dark Eldar’s Veiled Spirit Gate has been constructed.

It’s small, but very secretive.

While conventional navigation will still take several days to reach Holy Terra after arriving in the Solar System, at least it’s within reach.

The problem is that this Veiled Spirit Gate is completely controlled by the Dark Eldar, and neither the coordinates nor the key to open it are known. Currently, it’s impossible to open it.

Unless humans capture the port in Comoros, where the coordinates are stored, or pry open the details of a Dark Eldar captive who knows the coordinates, and obtain the specific coordinates and key.

Even then, this is difficult.

Because the Dark Eldar could, upon receiving the news, dispatch their units stationed at the Veil Gate in the Sol System to destroy it, effectively ending everything.

It was precisely this reason that made the Dark Eldar’s peace offer so appealing to Robert.

With a compromise, they could practically reach the Sol System immediately, completing the crucial step in Robert’s anticipated expedition, bringing their army to Holy Terra to test the human empire’s capital’s loyalty.

But at this point, Gu Hang, regardless of his status as a Son of God, harshly criticized Robert’s opportunistic and wishful thinking.

Robert was amused and distraught at Gu Hang’s criticism.

He was certainly not the irrational person Gu Hang claimed. Since he had considered peace talks, he had naturally devised a series of conditions and supporting measures to ensure the Dark Eldar’s compliance.

He knew, of course, that, as Gu Hang had said, they were a race devoid of integrity—in fact, the very notion of interspecies integrity was absurd.

But overall, it’s a fact that the Dark Eldar lack credibility. They are inherently cruel and cunning, and their internal intrigues and struggles are endless, not to mention their external collaborations.

Robert wouldn’t trust them easily, or even believe a single word they say. He would only act when he had the necessary binding force to ensure their compliance.

And in this process, the power of the Alliance was indispensable.

Only with the Alliance’s watchful eye on Comoros would he dare march his troops into the Veil Gate opened to them by the Dark Eldar.

Otherwise, even a one percent chance of a rip-off would become a 100 percent chance for the Dark Eldar.

In other words, if Gu Hang refused to negotiate, without the Alliance’s backing, he couldn’t negotiate.

He also understood Gu Hang’s excuses, like “opportunism,” “a gamble,” and “the Dark Eldar’s promises couldn’t be trusted.”

Essentially, he insisted on attacking Comoros and didn’t want to let the Terran Expeditionary Force escape.

“Let’s talk about this frankly, Mr. Gu Hang. There’s no need to use these unnecessary arguments that we all know are unnecessary. I believe you’re a smart person,” Robert said.

Gu Hang found it a little ridiculous.

“I’m talking frankly now, Your Highness Robert.”

“You may think I’m discussing this with you just to stop you. But my admiral has told you before, and I’ve told you before, and I’ll emphasize it again: Conquering Comoros is my goal, but in the process, the Alliance does not need your expeditionary force. We are fully capable of completing this task independently.”

“I can completely understand why you misunderstood me. You think you will be fully prepared, and as long as I agree and the Alliance’s forces cooperate, no matter what secret conspiracies the Dark Eldar have, they will not be able to stop you from completing your plan.”

“But let me say, Your Highness, Robert, you are too arrogant. You trust your brain, the wisdom and rationality bestowed upon you by the Emperor, and believe that your perfect plan, if executed step by step, will be flawless. Even if there are errors, you are confident that you have ample backup plans to compensate… But what are you facing? Do not underestimate the Dark Eldar. They are now weakened, corrupted, and few in number. However, I solemnly inform you that they were once a race that dominated the universe, and no one knows what power lies beneath their deep roots. Your perfect plan is likely to fail, and will lead the expedition into the abyss.”

Hearing this, Robert continued to laugh.

He even felt that Gu Hang was not that bright after all.

He had thought that Gu Hang was a superior ‘kindred’, an extremely intelligent person, who would be able to guess his perfect plan without him even having to tell him. And if he only knew his plan, he would be sure that everything would proceed smoothly.

But alas…

But who let Gu Hang control the powerful alliance?

He decided to spend some time explaining things to Gu Hang, and to be patient and try to convince the ruler of the alliance.

However, he still felt a little disappointed.

If Gu Hang was the kind of person with “absolute wisdom” he had previously thought, he would even consider handing the empire over to him. He had once served as the “regent” of the empire. He was in charge of the military and political affairs of the entire empire. He knew how arduous it was. He was willing to hand over this responsibility, or to share this responsibility with Gu Hang.

But it seemed that Gu Hang was not that kind of “absolute wisdom.”

It’s a pity, but at least Gu Hang should be able to serve as his deputy and help him share some of the pressure.

However, before he could begin to describe his perfect plan, Gu Hang’s next words completely dampened his smile.

“…I believe that ten thousand years ago, when you led the Infinite Star Region reinforcements, the most important and largest force, to support Holy Terra during the Imperial Civil War, you must have also devised a ‘perfect plan.’ But you and your troops arrived only after the war was over. That was certainly not part of your perfect plan, was it?”

A simmering anger simmered beneath Robert’s frozen expression.

How dare you?

It was one of the most painful wounds of his life, and he spent countless nights blaming himself. As a brilliant man, he knew many shared similar thoughts, yet no one dared to confront him directly.

Even the Son of God, renowned for his rationality, couldn’t help but bristle.

Ultimately, wasn’t there an impulsive and furious side to Robert’s character?

Not only was there, but it was intense, even rivaling that of some of his more reckless brothers.

Seeing that Robert stopped smiling, Gu Hang laughed instead: “I believe that you have reflected on that history countless times in countless nights. So, don’t repeat the same mistakes, okay?”

After Gu Hang said this, Robert fell into a long silence.

Gu Hang waited for a moment, then began to speak to himself,

“Of course, I’m not completely opposed to peace talks. However, peace talks are only a means to an end. We must use fighting to force talks, and we must gain complete and unconditional control. That means we won’t accept any conditions proposed by the Dark Eldar. We only accept one thing: their complete, total, and unconditional acceptance of all our conditions.”

“Time is on our side. The independent plan can be implemented starting today. We can dismantle a small version of the current Veil Spirit Gate, recycle it into equipment and materials, and then hand it over to the Vanguard Fleet to begin our journey towards Holy Terra.”

“We can continue to search for new manufacturing equipment and materials for Veil Spirit Gates in Comoros, and we will also attempt to capture other ports.”

“In a few years, when our Vanguard Fleet reaches one or two star systems near Holy Terra, we can set up a small Spirit Gate. Presumably, by then we should have acquired more Spirit Gate equipment and more ports. By then, we can transport the equipment from the small Spirit Gate and build a large Spirit Gate, and the expeditionary force will still be able to pass through.”

“The timing won’t be as bad as we previously imagined, in the worst-case scenario.”

“What’s more, we can also make this clear when negotiating with the Dark Eldar. With every passing minute, the bargaining chip they hold will become weaker.”

“Multi-pronged approach, advancing in parallel. Your Highness Robert, you can change your somewhat stingy plan. My alliance has sufficient resources to carry out many ambitious goals simultaneously. You don’t have to always think about having a perfect plan with the lowest cost and the highest probability of success. No need. We can do anything, and we can afford to lose.”

Hearing this, Robert couldn’t help but say, “What if we lose Holy Terra?”

“We can afford to lose.” Gu Hang said, “Does the Alliance’s Dark Side Expedition have anything to do with Holy Terra? We have also taken over a quarter of the empire, and it is visible to the n*ked eye. As long as we are given time, we will be able to take over the entire dark side of the empire, and then recover the other side of the Holy Territory of the Empire.”

At this point, Gu Hang’s voice became a little cold: “To put it bluntly, even if Holy Terra is completely destroyed, so what? Build another world, regenerate a trillion people, create another imperial guard, create more garrisoned war groups, and then dig out the secrets and treasures buried under Holy Terra and make a copy. That’s all.”

“Perhaps, such a new Terra is more cost-effective than saving the old Terra.”

Robert pressed further and asked, “What about the Emperor? The Emperor’s body is still sitting on the golden throne deep in the palace!”

Gu Hang’s smile became a little elusive, and seemed to have a hint of ridicule. Robert didn’t know if he had seen it wrong.

He simply said, “The Emperor probably doesn’t care anymore.”

What use would an ascended Emperor have for a body? “Your Excellency, please don’t get up.

” …

Was Robert finally convinced?

No.

It’s just that he had no other choice.

The Alliance held the most power. All his plans required the Alliance’s full cooperation.

If Gu Hang refused, no matter how perfect his plan was, it would be in vain.

He could only carry it out.

He even had to tinker with the rough plan Gu Hang had presented to him, the so-called Alliance Military General Staff.

In this regard, Gu Hang had complete faith in his wisdom.

As long as the general direction was right, Robert could make any adjustments to the specific implementation plan.

He was the ‘Absolutely Wise’, after all. He wouldn’t be wrong, nor would he make foolish mistakes out of anger.

Well, probably not.

Even if he were, it wouldn’t matter.

As Gu Hang had said, the Alliance could afford to lose, and lose many times.

With the new large Curtain Spirit Gate now operational, the Queen Rose Harbor’s throughput capacity doubled.

Two months later, one-third of the main force of the Alliance’s Central Front had entered Comoros.

That was three thousand warships, and one of them was commanded by the Alliance’s Glorious Queen.

At the same time, there were more than thirty Space Marine regiments involved in the battle, from the Alliance alone. Together with the descendants of the Infinite Legion of Robert’s expeditionary force, a total of more than 50,000 Space Marines fought in Comoros.

After obtaining Robert’s consent and the consent of the various Infinite Sub-Groups from the Infinite Star Field, the Alliance’s New Blood Breeding Center will recruit Primarily new recruits to supplement those Infinite Warrior Sub-Groups.

Although there are some issues with the veterans’ acceptance in the middle, in wartime, no one will care so much.

Just slowly run-in on the battlefield.

And with the abundance of troops, humans once again set off an offensive frenzy in Comoros!
