Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 923
Chapter 915, Phoenix Legion
Gu Hang estimates that the genetic pheromones extracted from Martins’ body can produce approximately one thousand Phoenix gene-seeds each year.
At the rate Gu Hang uses his Grace Points to screen and cultivate Space Marines, this means a new Phoenix-blooded Chapter can be cultivated every year.
Of course, this doesn’t mean Martins will be constantly in the laboratory, cooperating with pheromone extraction.
He will return to the front lines, taking command of the Southern Front within the next year or two, and then, within ten to fifteen years, the entire Dark Side Crusade.
This is his primary responsibility.
Regarding the pheromone extraction, a dedicated medical team will accompany Martins.
This team will include over twenty young warriors from the Yulin Chapter.
Their primary responsibility is to provide medical support to Martins and monitor the health of this precious Primarch, the Dark Side Crusade’s Commander-in-Chief, for whom Gu Hang is already paving the way. As for the twenty Yulin soldiers, they are responsible for Martins’s safety.
The Yulin Chapter is a rather mysterious force.
The level of secrecy was extremely high, and many high-ranking members of the Space Marine Management Association were unaware of the Chapter’s existence.
Martins did know about the Chapter, but only vaguely. As for the exact number of members, the specific missions they were carrying out, or the appearance of their equipment and supplies—even Martins was unaware. He only knew that the Chapter was solely responsible to Governor Gu.
In the past, he had carefully restrained his curiosity and hadn’t paid much attention to the Yulin Chapter. However, when these twenty Yulin soldiers appeared beside him, he didn’t actively investigate, but he could not help but notice that they seemed different from ordinary Space Marines.
They were taller, even taller than Primaris, and only slightly smaller than Martins himself.
At this size, they could barely be considered Primaris Space Marines, which was acceptable.
But in Martins’s eyes, they were very different.
However, just as in the past, he didn’t let his changed self lead him to delve into secrets that shouldn’t be known. Even though he vaguely knew that Gu Hang hoped to let him take over the Dark Side Expedition in the future and that his status in the Alliance would be very high, he would never be arrogant because of this favor. Instead, he would be more cautious in his words and deeds, be more careful in dealing with all things, and make sure to devote himself wholeheartedly to the Alliance.
He ignored the special features of the Yulin Army and referred to them as his guards and assistants to the outside world.
These twenty Yulin Army soldiers, together with the same number of Phoenix Glory Guards, constituted Martins’s close guards and personal assistants.
In fact, the team sent directly from Gu Hang to Martins had some other additional tasks.
The Yulin Army was responsible for assisting Martins in strategic command. This was to give full play to their strategic command ideas that were superior to those of the Space Marines, to help them grow better, and to provide support to Martins.
At the same time, these Yulin soldiers were also tasked with diligently collecting intelligence from the frontline battles, compiling what they saw, heard, and handled daily into reports and analysis, which they would then transmit back to Alliance headquarters through their own secret channels.
This was also considered a form of… surveillance?
The other medical team was responsible for collecting Martins’ genetic pheromones.
These pheromones would also be returned to Alliance headquarters, Star of the Wrathful Owl, with the highest security and confidentiality levels, along with the supply fleet that had completed its Dark Side expedition.
Every year, a new Chapter of the Phoenix Bloodline was established,
and the prototype of a brand-new Space Marine Legion was thus formed.
The most direct manifestation of this was the appearance of the words “Phoenix Legion” in Gu Hang’s system.
However, the gene-seed limit was currently 3,000. The number of special “Glory Seeds” and the trainable Glory Guards—the “Great Nirvana Guards”—was also limited to 300.
This was likely due to the current total number of Phoenix Bloodline gene-seeds being 3,000.
There were originally a thousand Phoenixes. Using Phoenix genes, a thousand gene-seeds were exchanged through the system, creating the Yellow Spring Gulls, another thousand. The first batch of gene pheromones collected from Martins were blended and cultivated to create a thousand gene-seeds, creating a new regiment.
That’s three thousand in total, and only three thousand are recognized by the system.
But that doesn’t matter. This means that as long as Martins continues to produce new gene-seed pheromones every year, and new Phoenix sub-regiments emerge, not only will a thousand new warriors be added annually, but the upper limit of Phoenix gene-seeds in Gu Hang’s system will also be increased by a thousand.
If, in the event that a Phoenix sub-regiment suffers a major loss, resulting in a significant loss of personnel for the entire bloodline group, and Martins’s annual pheromones aren’t enough to replenish them, Gu Hang can use the gene-seeds that have fallen below the upper limit to quickly exchange for new gene-seeds.
Of course, if no such major losses occurred, the growth of the Phoenix Legion would have to rely solely on Martins’s pheromones, the Phoenix Warriors’ own normal five-year production of one, or the recovery of gene-seed upon death, for conventional growth.
Optimistically, within ten years, the total number of Phoenixes would likely reach around 13,000; given a hundred years of growth, even accounting for the losses incurred during the expedition, the total number of Phoenixes would likely exceed 150,000, reaching the size of a true Space Marine Legion!
In time, the Phoenix bloodline would become the largest Space Marine Legion in the Alliance!
This is the value of the Primarch beyond its individual form—the creation of a new Space Marine Legion!
