Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 910
Chapter 903: You Shouldn’t Refuse a Wheelchair
. “I want to see Gu Hang.”
“Of course,” Sosa said. “Governor Gu said that as long as you wake up and want to see him, you can do so anytime.”
Dante forced himself to stand, pushing aside the pharmacist’s help.
Sosa pulled out a wheelchair from the side, clearly prepared long ago. “I’ll carry you. You’re in a state where you can’t move much.”
Dante ignored him.
How could a hero of the Empire be pushed in front of Gu Hang in a wheelchair?
He wanted to demonstrate the Blood Angels’ uncompromising and unyielding attitude, not to fawn over them!
To this end, not only did he refuse to use a stretcher or wheelchair, he even insisted on donning his full set of armor.
Even though the armor was riddled with holes, large and small, and hadn’t been fully repaired, he insisted on wearing it.
Dante’s armor was not the bright red of a typical Blood Angel, but a golden yellow. Behind him lay a pair of steel wings. His helmet was a specially made mask modeled after the face of the Gene Father.
He had to wear the entire set before he could go see Gu Hang.
…
After putting on the gear, he walked slowly but firmly into the Angel Castle.
This was his home, the center of the planet Celestial, the holy land where the Son of God led the Blood Angels to rise ten thousand years ago.
And now, it had almost become a ruin.
Although most places looked quite familiar to him. However, he was only familiar with some fragments, some ruins.
Rows of trucks and engineering vehicles were pushing countless Zerg corpses into the incinerator, and the thick purple smoke covered half of the sky.
He noticed that the Alliance logo was branded on each tank turret.
From this perspective, the Alliance saved the Blood Angels, and from this perspective, it was no exaggeration.
If the Blood Angels hadn’t been completely disadvantaged in the previous battle, requiring the help of allies to survive, Dante believed his battle-brothers wouldn’t have so easily allowed the Alliance army to fully enter Angel Castle.
As he passed, every Alliance soldier paused and saluted.
Dante didn’t return the salute.
He didn’t have the energy, nor the mood.
However, his gaze swept over them, instinctively taking in the condition of the Alliance soldiers. The commanding instincts of a Space Marine leader rippled through his mind.
From the equipment, the soldiers’ morale, the organization… every aspect of it revealed to him that these seemingly ordinary Alliance mortal troops were truly formidable.
If, during the previous battle, half of his mortal forces—no, a third would suffice—had been replaced with an Alliance army of this caliber, he would have been confident of immediate victory.
Beyond these mortal troops, Dante could also discern some of the Alliance’s elite units.
Are they actually mortals, a bit like Skitarii?
The reason for this assumption is that they utilize a large amount of equipment that the Mechanicus is generally unwilling to provide to the Imperial Guard, or that the Imperial Munitions cannot afford to purchase. These elite equipment is usually reserved by the Mechanicus for their own Skitarii.
However, the reason for the “?” is that these soldiers, in addition to Mechanicus equipment, also possess a large amount of standard Astra Militarum equipment; they have a large proportion of reactive power armor and exoskeleton equipment; their uniforms are similar to those of the Alliance Army; their flags and organization also resemble those of the Alliance Army; and there are even some Commissars wearing red hats among them…
If they are not Skitarii, does this mean that the Alliance’s integration of Forge Worlds is extremely powerful, allowing them to control many of the Mechanicus’ Forge Worlds and manufacture equipment specifically for them, thus creating these elite mortal forces?
Even more terrifying is that the Alliance does not even need the cooperation of the Mechanicus; its own production capacity is sufficient to accomplish this task.
The Alliance can create individual Forge Worlds on its own.
What kind of intimidating power does this represent?
Inexplicably, the image of Sosa, the so-called Crimson Scythe, flashed back to his mind. He’d said with such a matter-of-fact air when he’d said the Alliance would rebuild all the worlds affected by the Zerg swarm in the Pluto sector, centered around Celestial Primus.
Was it possible that this wasn’t naiveté, but rather trust?
That genuine, heartfelt sense of indifference wasn’t due to a lack of understanding of the difficulties involved. Rather, it was because he understood, and even more so, the Alliance’s immense economic capacity. He’d witnessed countless worlds rapidly recover after similar disasters under the Alliance’s leadership.
Having seen so much, it was natural to take it for granted.
It was possible.
But how would the Chapter’s losses be replenished?
As he thought about this, he noticed something else.
Several Kirin fighters, seemingly fresh from their missions, were approaching from a distance.
From these fighters, Space Marines were dropped.
Judging by their livery, they were from different Chapters. Some, Dante didn’t recognize, were likely new Chapters forged by the so-called Dark Side, like the Crimson Scythes. But there were some he recognized. They were Chapters active in other cosmic realms, some of which had even clashed with the Blood Angels.
And now, regardless of their Chapters, these Space Marines were all walking together, shoulder to shoulder, chatting and laughing.
The Alliance… Gu Hang… How many Chapters had he reclaimed and used for his own purposes?
What was he planning to do?
What leverage did the Blood Angels have now? And what would they gain in exchange?
What would be the Blood Angels’ future?
Countless questions swirled in his mind. It wasn’t
until he met Gu Hang that his ideas began to take shape.
However, those ideas were shattered at the very beginning of the meeting.
What he saw was beyond belief.
“You shouldn’t have refused the wheelchair,” Gu Hang’s gentle voice shook him out of his shock. “I heard from the medical officer that you’re seriously injured. Actually, our meeting could be postponed for a while.”
He ignored Gu Hang’s concern.
He raised a trembling hand and pointed at the being with whom Gu Hang was having a holographic conversation.
The giant sitting upright in blue armor was Robert, the Son of God whom he had met during his pilgrimage to the Infinite Squadron’s home planet, Super Star.
