Chapter 887: Long-awaited Technology Lottery

The Alliance’s strong economy is the foundation of everything.

And what is the foundation of the Alliance’s economy?

It’s efficient administration. This, in turn, is enhanced by the Hero interface, which brings in high-quality talent; while the training of political commissars and the Zhongsi Academy fosters high loyalty and integrity.

Without improved administrative efficiency, the Alliance’s heavily planned economic system cannot be sustained at such a large scale.

Gu Hang understands this better than anyone.

His investment in this area remains unwavering.

With the Alliance’s expansion to this point and the ongoing wars, Gu Hang receives a massive amount of grace points each month.

Earning tens of millions a month, with additional tens or even hundreds of millions depending on the war situation, is normal. Over the past two or three decades, an average of 300 to 500 million grace points has been considered average.

Other areas can no longer afford such a large amount, but Gu Hang cannot let so many grace points sit on the books and gather dust.

The greatest application scenario is in people.

Military training and administrative staff training are two major areas, each year costing billions.

Another major area, and where Gu Hang is increasing his economic investment, is building redemption.

The [Building] interface isn’t as prominent as other system functions, but its long-term value is no less than theirs.

Academy buildings diligently provide talent to the Alliance, and in some ways, they’re just as valuable as the [Hero] interface’s Enlightenment function. After all, Enlightenment isn’t primarily aimed at cultivating elite individuals, but rather at the upper echelons of the Alliance.

No matter how many Gift Points Gu Hang possesses, the number of individuals he can enlighten and upgrade in a single year is ultimately limited. Millions or tens of millions of people may seem like a lot, but in the current landscape of the Alliance, with tens of thousands of worlds and a population of trillions to manage, it’s still insufficient.

The Alliance’s education system is the true cradle for cultivating a vast number of elite talent, and even more so, ordinary talent.

The Academy building function, which Gu Hang specifically redeemed, is, within the Alliance’s educational system, the equivalent of a prestigious school.

In reality, even prestigious schools wouldn’t be enough. More accessible were ordinary colleges, or even junior and senior high schools.

Regardless, exchanging a single college building for a prestigious school would yield approximately 50,000 graduates annually. While they wouldn’t be as exceptional as the Enlightened, if considered Enlightened, these 50,000 graduates would cost Gu Hang 500,000 grace points. Exchanging for a single school, on the other hand, would only cost a few hundred or a few thousand grace points.

Furthermore, only after receiving a relatively good education would the probability of Enlightened individuals appearing be higher. If everyone were illiterate, even the greatest potential would likely be difficult for the system to identify.

A variety of academies in the social sciences, science and engineering, medicine, military sciences, and loyal successor schools were established across the Alliance to cultivate high-quality talent, fueling the Alliance’s economy and its expeditions.

Another major area of building exchange was factories.

These were more rudimentary: exchanging one factory effectively increased production capacity.

The rapid economic development of the alliance is closely related to this item.

…

Hero enlightenment, building exchange, and training in the soldier card system are the three major sources of grace points, a bottomless pit.

Given the current size of the alliance, these three areas can consume as many grace points as possible. As long as Gu Hang is willing to invest, there will be output.

However, in addition to this, Gu Hang still invested a large amount of grace points in the [Technology] interface.

If we talk about the functions with a particularly strong presence in the system, then the [Technology] interface must be the top priority.

Otherwise, how can we say that technology is the primary productive force?

Talent, systems, policies… these are certainly the engines of economic development.

But the role of technology cannot be underestimated either.

The Alliance’s leapfrogging growth is inseparable from the bonuses granted by the “black box” exchanged through the technology interface.

However, at the Alliance’s current level, the impact of ordinary technology is no longer significant. Unfortunately, the good stuff in the technology pool is limited and will be drained.

The 10 million level has already been drained.

For a high probability of finding something good, one has to try the 100 million level.

But the cost of a single lottery draw of hundreds of millions of grace points… even for Gu Hang, who now has considerable financial resources, the price still trembles.

He must weigh the costs.

100 million grace points, whether used to inspire talent, exchange for buildings, or even just to supplement and train troops, is a considerable sum. As long as he invests it, it will bring tangible improvements to the Alliance.

Is it a chance to win?

Gu Hang’s answer is yes.

He has to try.

On the one hand, he wants to try his luck.

On the other hand, even if he didn’t draw the technology that would bring him a quantum leap, it wasn’t completely useless.

Even if he only drew a specific cruiser model or a lower-tier ship technology, the finished black box and the mothership black box would mean that every few years, he could expand a new production line. This production line became the core industry of a planet, or even a sector, driving massive economic growth.

Shipbuilding has this magical power.

Even if it wasn’t ship technology, it could be used for ordinary military or civilian industries.

Even if a lottery worth hundreds of millions of yuan didn’t yield top-tier items, it certainly wasn’t rubbish.

Over the years, Gu Hang had steadily spent two billion grace points on technology draws, and he had managed to produce quite a few good things.

For example, the Void Dragon-class battlecruiser was similar to the Holy Grail-class, sacrificing some speed and armor in exchange for stronger void shields and void cannons specifically designed to target them, making it quite valuable.

For example, the Victory-class battleship is an ancient vessel, a technology now lost to the Empire. Its revival would almost completely surpass the Retribution-class in combat capability. Of course, it’s also more expensive.

The Ambition-class cruiser is the only cruiser in the Human Empire available for private individuals or groups to purchase. As a superyacht for the wealthy, it’s not only incredibly luxurious but also retains the firepower and defensive features expected of a cruiser. Its massive cannons, trained on rivals, are a stark display of power and wealth. The Navy might be a bit dismissive of this vessel if it were included in the main force. However, since it’s been withdrawn, expanding two production lines to produce some, and providing them to the Alliance’s merchant shipping, would be a good option as a powerful escort vessel. Furthermore, its original purpose doesn’t need to be abandoned. Local dignitaries who are difficult to deal with forcefully could purchase these disproportionately expensive vessels, allowing the Alliance to profit from them.

There were also some other types of Knight Mechs, Titans, tanks, chariots, civilian technology… In short, they were all somewhat useful.

And since he’d already drawn twenty times, Gu Hang wasn’t so unlucky as to not get any real good stuff.

He did get it, though.

That was: [Primaris Space Marine Technology]
