Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 861

Chapter 855: The Universe is Burning (Part 2)
The battle for Ankachi VIII’s orbit has reached a fever pitch.
Although the Orks’ overall orbital defenses are far inferior to those of the Humans, and even their ground-based anti-orbital artillery is severely insufficient, they still do everything they can to engage in orbital warfare with the Humans.
Or, in other words, they are simply resisting.
Even though they know they can’t win, they still fight tooth and nail to cause as much trouble as possible for the Humans.
Judging by the sacrifice ratio, the Greenskins are being treated quite poorly.
But so what?
Gu Hang could tell that Broken Bones was trying to buy time.
To put it bluntly, time is on the Greenskins’ side.
The longer it drags on, the more Greenskins will be born on the many Greenskin-occupied planets of Omgeria. Their losses in the previous war will be quickly replenished.
If time drags on for months and Gu Hang fails to capture Ankachi VIII, then the Orks on this planet, and indeed across the Omgeria Sector, will be inexhaustible. This will be compounded not only in numbers but also by the increased strength of the Waaagh force field, the combined power of individual Orks, and the even more impressive Ork technology brought to them by “Anxunsi,” which will equip them with an increasingly powerful Ork army.
At that point, the difficulty of capturing Ankachi VIII will intensify.
Meanwhile, while it currently appears possible to completely blockade the entire system, preventing Ork forces elsewhere from receiving reinforcements, by that point, the blockade may be impossible.
Against this backdrop, Broken Bone chose a brilliant strategy: he didn’t hesitate to deploy his forces despite his current disadvantage. Instead, despite higher casualties and a greater exchange rate, he persevered in repeatedly battling the human army in the orbit of a planet where the Orks held a complete disadvantage.
He was willing to resort to suicidal rocket ships.
These rocket ships, with their reckless tactics, low cost, and exceptionally fast production speed, posed a significant challenge to the human vanguard fleet.
The first wave of attack was almost a failure.
But Gu Hang had no expression on his face, and without hesitation or pause, he ordered the next attack.
There was no hesitation, and he went all out.
Two Glorious Queens took the lead, followed by twelve Emperor-class and Retaliation-class battleships, as well as thousands of cruisers and frigates. In an instant, a huge firepower position was formed, which descended directly into the orbit of Ankachi VIII.
This distance is already very dangerous. The firepower of human warships can be delivered to the ground without restraint, but at the same time, the firepower from the ground can also threaten warships within the orbit.
But it is obvious that Gu Hang, who made this decision, is no longer afraid of anything.
The greenskins’ trump cards have been almost touched.
The fierce anti-orbital firepower launched from the ground was utterly weak compared to the sheer size of the Human fleet. The suicide rockets that repelled the initial Human attack were as densely packed as a swarm of locusts, but the number of Human warships was not much different.
The firepower of frigates and destroyers was focused on destroying the incoming suicide rockets while also intercepting the incoming ground fire.
Ships larger than cruisers conducted surface strikes,
including two Glorious Queens and the Extermination Order weapons dropped from starships.
If the Extermination Order weapons could destroy Ankachi VIII, it would be a significant win—no matter how many Extermination Orders were launched or how expensive the Extermination Order weapons were to manufacture, as long as the success was achieved, the strategic value would be a win.
Unfortunately, the Extermination Order failed to work.
The Greenskins’ interception methods were limited, but incredibly accurate. The Extermination Order certainly intercepted them all, and even the most formidable Z-class cannons fired from the Glory Queen were largely intercepted. After three rounds of bombardment, only one Z-class cannon shell landed.
Gu Hang believed that this high interception efficiency was due to the personal involvement of the Bonebreaker King.
Gu Hang had no doubt he could discern the most threatening targets amidst the barrage of artillery fire. And the Greenskins’ anti-orbital cannons, linked together by the Bonebreakers, would be incredibly accurate.
This was something Gu Hang found somewhat helpless.
An opponent like the Bonebreaker was capable of single-handedly changing the course of an Apocalypse campaign.
Just like Gu Hang himself,
he exerted his full strength.
Even though the most devastating firepower was intercepted, the remaining hits still inflicted devastating damage, striking numerous vital points of the Greenskins on the surface.
King Bonebreaker’s interceptions were incredibly precise, but were humans’ orbital bombardments inaccurate?
With Gu Hang’s help, they were just as accurate!
Furthermore, this was also due to the contributions of Chen Yanqing, who had died earlier in the battle.
His heroic spirit had been summoned during the battle.
He stood in the void, calling upon the psychic beacons he had left in the planet’s orbit and on its surface before his death.
And Gu Hang, leading a host of storm mages, used the observation links he had constructed during his lifetime, summoned to penetrate the energy fluctuations surrounding the planet’s surface. Psionic vision penetrated the green halo of the Waagh force field, which contracted to the top of the war fortress every seventeen minutes and then radiated a circular shockwave in all directions. This was evidence that King Bonebreaker was personally infusing energy into the frontline troops, projecting the countless greenskin defensive structures on the planet’s surface onto the tactical screens of every starship participating in the ground strike.
The Orbital Strike Command Center adjusted the impact points of the Light Spear Array, Macrocannon Array, and Missile Bombardment. Countless continuous firepower, crossing the atmosphere, precisely struck each marked strategic point.
Some were Ork ground fortresses protecting core transportation areas; others were corpse recycling stations, responsible for providing nutrients to the eco-park; others were war equipment processing plants; others were large garbage cities; others were Waagh energy relays…
But the Greenskins’ anti-orbital firepower positions received the most attention.
The Bone Crusher could intercept the most threatening Extermination Order weapons and Z-class cannons, but could it stop so much L-class and M-class firepower?
These Greenskin strategic points were destroyed one by one in the bombardment.
Such a fierce bombardment caused disorganization in the Greenskin defenses across an area thousands of kilometers in radius.
And this was the perfect time to land.
