Chapter 840, I will give you a fair judgment

“You…?”

Wang Kerong was stunned. He didn’t resist until the witchers came to restrain him, even violently dismantling the mechanical body beneath his regal robes.

He knew he was in trouble when he heard the treason verdict. Although he didn’t believe the loss of Mingmu Star was entirely his fault, the Alliance couldn’t help but think so.

If he was captured now, he would be truly finished. In the hands of the Alliance, he would be completely finished. How the Alliance dealt with him depended entirely on their mood, and he had no power to control his own fate.

But if he succeeded in resisting, there would be a solution.

He didn’t know how these witchers, and even Pilias, whom he despised, had come aboard his mechanical ark. But he could guess: Pilias was a sage after all, so he would have some connections. In the months since the Alliance arrived, they had also won over some people through covert activities within the Steel Flame Furnace. Combined with the defection of a dozen or so Space Marines, their ability to show up before him wasn’t entirely surprising.

But he shouldn’t have been arrested so easily.

He was a Grand Magus, his entire body adorned with the most advanced technology from the Steelforge. Add to that the modifications he’d made as a Grand Magus, and his skill level was truly formidable. This arsenal of mechanical equipment was incredibly expensive, and when deployed, its combat power was truly extraordinary. Even with no combat experience, it would at least surpass the average Company Champion among Space Marines.

In fact, with sufficient training and combat experience, this equipment would easily single-handedly take down anything like a Hive Tyrant or an Ork Warlord. The equipment advantage was immense.

It wasn’t just him; the other Magus present, even if slightly inferior, weren’t significantly behind.

The Archbishops were a bit less skilled, but still definitely stronger than the average Space Marine.

The nearly twenty high-ranking members of the Mechanicum filled the room; they were his primary reliance.

A dozen or so Space Marines and the Alliance Inquisitor—so-called demon hunters, in his opinion, were little more than Inquisitors—couldn’t possibly compare in strength to the Steel Forge’s high-ranking officials in this room.

Even Pyrrhus wouldn’t be enough.

If they took action, they could quickly eliminate these Alliance lackeys.

If they weren’t captured immediately, there would be room for negotiation.

He was the leader of the Steel Forge, possessed the Ark Mechanicus, commanded the Forge World’s most elite warriors, and held a legitimate claim to the Forge World… all of these things could be used to establish united front value.

He could pay the price for his past sins and be forced to cede more benefits to the Alliance. But as long as these core united front values remained, everything remained negotiable.

He knew, of course, that with the Alliance’s strength, he would be crushed if he rebelled. But how much money and effort would it take to defeat him? That was the value and confidence he held in the negotiations.

However, he never expected that the problem would arise at the very point where it was least likely to go wrong.

Wang Kerong, still pondering how to negotiate with the Alliance, saw that none of the Steel Flame Furnace’s senior leaders had taken action.

It was as if after hearing the so-called “treason,” they had all accepted it.

How could he resist?

Even if Wang Kerong was fully equipped with combat gear, what would it mean? He couldn’t possibly single-handedly slaughter fellow Sage Pyrias, Alliance Inquisitors, and a dozen Space Marines.

Moreover, if a fight breaks out, it’s still unclear whether his loyal cult leaders will stand on his side or stand on the opposite side!

In the end, he can only choose to do nothing and surrender.

…

“I don’t accept it! Why do you want to convict me of treason? What country did I betray?” When Wang Kerong saw Tai Shichen in full armor, he shouted, “Why do you say that the fall of Muxing is my fault? Although 43% of her equipment provided by the Steel Flame Furnace was not in place, does this have a decisive impact on the war on the front line?”

“Even with this 43%, the final result will still not be different. Captain Ricardo still can’t hold on until you come back!”

“Even so, the Comerian Ecclesiarchy withdrew half of the Combat Sisters, and the promised food supply was not fully in place… I am a traitor, what about the Comerians?”

“Tristan didn’t get the money she wanted, and she went on strike and withdrew her mercenary troops. How should this account be settled?”

“And Derin, Prince…” He read out many names in a row, all of whom were well-known figures in the Wangyue Star Region, “These people all have problems, why do you say I am a traitor?!”

Tai Shichen listened to Wang Kerong’s explanation silently.

The Great Sage, whose mechanical limbs had been stripped of nearly all their powers, now lay half-reclining on his prison bed, unable to move. His words and expression betrayed his genuine anger and resentment.

Taishichen sneered, “I’ve heard that kind of talk too many times today…”

With a wave of his hand, the walls shielding several cells in front of Wang Kerong’s prison opened.

Wang Kerong discovered that several of the cells before him held the very same individuals he had just cursed.

The most prominent figures in the Moon-Watching Star Region had gathered in the Dragon King’s Spear cell.

Tai Shichen sighed, “Each of you said that what you did was not worth it. You lacked 43% of the equipment required by standard; 39% of the railgun facilities and fortifications that strengthened the fortress’s defense were not completed on schedule… Even if you make up for these, Ricardo still can’t hold on until I come. The Komerians said so too, even if the battle sisters are there, they can’t stop the greenskins; and those planets that should contribute more planetary defense soldiers to join the Mingmu Star defenders, their troops are unable to stop the greenskins; Tristan’s mercenary group is no match for them.”

“Even if each of you does what you should do, it will not affect the outcome.”

“So, you just feel at ease, you take a bite, I take a bite, and then let the whole building collapse!”

“If all of you do what you should do, Mingmu Star’s defense will be two or three times stronger than it is now! Will the ending still be like this?!”

“You worms, you traitors… Oh, the Dark Expeditionary Command’s special military tribunal will give you a fair verdict.”

“The verdict will definitely be fair, worthy of the heroes who fought on Mingmu Star, I promise.”
