Chapter 838: All must be settled

. Ricardo no longer had a single battle brother by his side.

He gave a wry smile. Despite his best efforts, the inevitable outcome had arrived.

Although, this was something he had anticipated.

He knew the chances of success for this assault were slim. The greater significance lay in a desperate struggle. Failure was the most likely outcome.

Because of this, he felt a sense of calm. He

glanced up at the dim sky.

He couldn’t even count the number of greenskin elites he had slain under his hammer. To die on the battlefield like this didn’t seem so bad.

“Hmm?”

Ricardo looked up and saw the banner representing the Orc warlord not far from him.

But that didn’t seem right.

He had observed it earlier, and it was clear he didn’t have enough strength to charge through. The path he had taken shouldn’t have brought the two sides so close.

Was it Uru who took the initiative?

Just as he was thinking about this, the orcs who had stopped besieging him parted, leaving a passage before his eyes.

An immensely burly Ork warlord emerged from the crowd. His body was clad in black-red steel, and his heavy armor made him appear almost as large as a Space Marine Dreadnought.

That must be Uru himself.

Uru stood only thirty or forty meters away, a close distance for both men. A single charge would have reached them, perhaps even faster than firing a rifle.

Uru raised his ferocious long-handled cleaver with admiration, pointed it at Ricardo, and muttered a few words.

Ricardo couldn’t understand the Ork language,

but he understood the beast’s meaning.

He seemed to be offering him a fair, one-on-one duel.

Though he had fought his way here, exhausted and wounded, the enemy was well-rested, making this a less-than-fair duel.

Yet, Ricardo smiled cheerfully.

The enemy could have overwhelmed him with countless hordes of soldiers. But he was willing to duel here; it was undoubtedly an opportunity.

He clenched his hammer, exhaled a long breath, and, after fully preparing himself, roared and charged at Uru with all his might.

Mjolnir, raised high, brought down with unwavering determination, heavy and swift.

Uru responded with all his might, thrusting his long-handled slash upward. His seemingly brutal and ferocious style betrayed his supreme martial prowess. He judged the moment perfectly, his slash avoiding the hammer’s head and catching it at the junction of head and handle.

This strike was like grasping a vital lifeline. Ricardo’s concentrated strength, just as the hammer was about to be unleashed, was expended in a single blow, leaving him feeling extremely uncomfortable and aware of the immense danger.

He released his hammer, intending to draw his weapon to force the opponent back, but Uru was even faster, using the momentum of the slash to swing the other end of the hilt around and strike him in the face.

He barely dodged, only to be met with a powerful blow from Uru.

The overwhelming force sent Ricardo sprawling to the ground. He struggled to his feet, only to be crushed by the same foot again.

The combined force of his injuries, new and old, forced him to vomit blood.

He seemed to hear Uru mutter something, though he couldn’t make out the Orcish tongue.

But at least he could see the sword, raised high, fall.

…

“That bastard is a respectable warrior, if only he were a little stronger.”

With that, Ulu raised his sword, severed the head, and sheathed it.

He casually ordered the corpse to be disposed of, then issued new instructions:

“Keep the boys on the offensive. Those bastards can’t hold out. I must leave this world before dawn. The Bonebreaker King is approaching, and he’s ordered us to fight, plant more mushrooms, and replenish our forces. The Bonebreaker King’s orders must be carried out!”

…

Exit Seven was bombarded.

Mingmu Star had been completely lost, and Ricardo Lazio, the captain of the Dragon King’s Spear Third Company, who was responsible for defending Mingmu Star, had died for his country.

With his help, the entire company, along with the two remaining regiments in the Wangyue Star Region, only a dozen men in total, were evacuated.

Upon hearing the news, Taishichen immediately rushed his large force towards the Wangyue Star Region.

During the battle, the constant influx of intelligence updates allowed Taishichen and you to piece together the entire battle situation and understand the general cause of the sudden collapse.

The first objective reason, and also the biggest contributor to the defeat, was the enemy’s overwhelming strength.

This time, the greenskin legion emerging from the Omgeria sector was incredibly powerful.

Meanwhile, stargazers from other sectors had just arrived, reporting that the situation in the Omgeria sector might have undergone a significant change. A new Ork force had arrived from the outer reaches. They appeared to have used traditional Warp jumps or some other unknown means to reach Omgeria, failing to penetrate the Unbreakable Line.

The legion attacking Mingmu was likely part of this newly arrived Ork reinforcement.

Not only was their fleet massive and their forces immensely powerful, but the Ork warlord leading them was also incredibly powerful. During the ground offensive, the powerful warlord known as “Uru” personally participated in the frontline combat.

As the commander of the human side and also the most powerful warrior, Ricardo Lazio, faced with an extremely unfavorable battlefield situation, was forced to make a desperate move: he personally led a team in a decapitation operation against the terrifying Orc warlord.

Ultimately, they were defeated.

Taishichen knew that the defeat was not Ricardo’s fault.

His decision was not wrong, but the huge gap in strength between the two sides made the correct decision futile. In the end, he had no choice but to make a desperate attack, and there was nothing to say if he failed.

But why was there such a huge gap in strength between the two sides?

This question made Taishichen furious.

The strength of the greenskins was undoubtedly the most important objective factor, but he also received information from the people of the Moon-Watching Star Region. After the main force he led left, after the unbreakable defense line was established, and after the security issues were initially resolved, solid state germinated.

Those guys with ulterior motives may not dare to oppose the alliance, but they can use war to weaken others, preserve their own strength, and strive to gain more say in the star field, so that they can have more bargaining chips when they are fully incorporated into the Dark Side Control Committee and the alliance in the future.

They still have the courage to do this.

On the way back, Tai Shichen always wondered, if everything was done according to the standards, and the defensive forces and defense facilities that should be provided to Mingmu Star were completed as required, then would Ricardo be able to hold on until the support he led arrived?

Maybe not.

Things that have already happened cannot be retrospectively assumed.

However, Tai Shichen was determined that this time, while fighting and destroying the invading greenskin army, retaking Mingmu Star, and repairing the unbreakable defense line, he would never let go of those people in the Wangyue Star Field who killed Ricardo.

All the responsibilities that should be borne must be settled.
