Chapter 836, Armored Attack

. Ricardo chose not to launch an aerial attack.

Having already suffered significant losses in previous battles, humanity had essentially lost air superiority. Flying in fighter planes was extremely risky. They could easily be snared by enemy anti-aircraft fire or the vastly outnumbered Ork fighters and airships before even reaching their target, resulting in a fatal blow. A

ground assault was preferable.

The ground forces Ricardo had mobilized were practically his last remaining mobile force. The remaining one Warhound Titan and six Knight mechs formed the core of the assault. Alongside them were fourteen Alliance Holy Sword heavy tanks, along with Lion King and Lion tanks, totaling one hundred. This was complemented by numerous armored vehicles of varying types, from wheeled assault guns and anti-aircraft vehicles to armored infantry fighting vehicles and personnel carriers. Together with approximately six thousand elite Army soldiers supporting the armored vehicles, they constituted the main force of the operation.

While their numbers weren’t large, even those soldiers were elite.

They were tasked with executing a decapitation operation, not a full-scale battlefield confrontation. With the frontal battlefield effectively collapsed, gathering more numbers was meaningless.

In reality, the success of this operation depended primarily on the fifty or so Space Marines led by Ricardo himself.

The other troops’ primary mission was to deliver Ricardo and his warriors to the Ork warlord, Uru.

The tightly locked fortress gate suddenly flew open. The Orc

army, fiercely assaulting the gate and the surrounding wall, was stunned for a moment.

They had no doubt of their ultimate victory, but how had these bastards opened the gate on their own?

Regardless, this was a great opportunity!

The irritable greenskins, tired of exchanging fire with those bastards across the wall,

howled with joy as they charged towards the gate, only to be met with a fierce barrage that ripped them apart.

This level of artillery fire was commonplace at the beginning of the war. The human defenders had ample ammunition reserves and a sufficient number of artillery pieces. However, as the war progressed, more and more human artillery pieces failed for various reasons. The primary factor was naturally the orcs’ suppression of human artillery positions, which destroyed many.

When their heavy firepower was no longer enough to counter the orcs, the humans learned to be more resourceful. They reduced the frequency of their fire, relocating after each strike, and focused on providing cover when constructing artillery positions… These measures did indeed extend the survival of human artillery units, but also significantly reduced support for the front lines.

For example, the sudden and intense bombardment had been unseen for some time, resulting in heavy casualties for the orcs charging towards the fortress gate.

However, the orc leader commanding the front lines showed no signs of worry.

This was merely a last-ditch effort by the swarms!

He roared a message to the rear, demanding a counterattack on the exposed human artillery positions. Regardless of whether the work was being done by his own heavy artillery or the airmen in the sky,

he also urged his orcish brood to press forward regardless of casualties.

The gate being wide open was a rare opportunity. Although the cause was unknown, this opportunity should not be missed.

He even committed his elite reserve forces.

It was an orcish armored force, heavily armed trucks constructed from various mechanical wreckage, haphazardly loaded with a variety of oddly shaped, but uniformly large, heavy artillery. A few killing canisters and Squig war beasts dotted the scene.

He intended to storm the fortress in one fell swoop and claim the first position. Then, he would be rewarded by the warlord, and even more powerful power would flood his body, making him even larger, stronger, and more powerful.

He was still clinging to this dream, but the human troops bursting out of Dong Kai’s fortress gates shattered his illusions.

The first thing that caught his eye was the Holy Sword heavy tank.

He had seen this thing before; it was huge, very strong, and very difficult to blow up. The few that were blown up could be towed back and reassembled to become super-cool heavy-duty combat vehicles, far more powerful than ordinary trucks. Even a few fragments would cause multiple bosses to fight over them. So

, the good stuff appeared right in front of him?

The two tanks that drove out side by side looked like a huge treasure to him!

But soon, two more followed, and then two more… The heavy tanks drove out, their main guns blasting into the Ork troops head-on. The four secondary axle heavy guns were a deadly threat to ordinary combat trucks.

Even the largest Squig beast was knocked to the side by a heavy gun. The enraged behemoth turned its head, its bloody maw gaping, and roared at the human army. But the next cannon shot hit it squarely in the mouth, completely crushing its head.

Following the Holy Sword tanks came numerous lions and lion kings. Their main guns hammered down on units like killing tanks and battle trucks, while their coaxial machine guns and small-caliber secondary guns mowed down the charging Ork light infantry.

The battlefield was a bloody mess.

The Orc leader, pressing forward with the intent of charging into the fortress, not only failed, but was instead pushed back by the human armor.

Furious, the Orc leader roared, raising his battle axe and calling upon his personal guards and his most elite unit of heavily armored Orc warriors, intending to counterattack.

However, an even greater force, following the tanks, further crushed his plans.

It was a Knight Mech unit led by a Titan.

The already shaky Orc army was shattered.

Even the orc boss had no choice but to run away with them.

But how could he escape?

Ricardo, who came out with them in the chariot, had been eyeing this guy for a long time.

He shouted for the vehicle to speed up, and when the distance between the two sides was less than a thousand meters, he jumped out of the car and charged fiercely with a dozen Dragon King’s Spear warriors.

They wantonly hacked at the approaching orc troops, like a sharp spear, without stopping at all.

Ricardo himself even caught up with the orc boss.

The orc boss, who was heavily armored and taller than Ricardo in Terminator armor, turned around and raised his battle axe, intending to fight a final life-and-death battle with Ricardo.

But after just one confrontation, the company commander’s thunder hammer smashed the battle axe away.

With another hammer, the orc boss’s head was smashed into pieces with his door wide open.
