Chapter 834: Space Blockade Technology

The insect-beast war in Ohmgeria posed a colossal threat that struck fear into the entire universe. However, after the arrival of the Alliance’s expeditionary vanguard, and their resolute victory at no small sacrifice in the Battle of Exit Seven, successfully defending the Steel Flame Furnace, they discovered that the disaster wasn’t as difficult as they had imagined—at least not a true apocalypse.

The Alliance’s forces, led by Taishichen, arrived as saviors. Unconcerned with gains and losses, they often stood firm on the most arduous front lines, plugging the biggest loopholes. Only after the crisis was resolved would they relinquish control and hand over the defense to the organized forces on the home front.

They didn’t treat their troops as expendable, cannon fodder, to be thrown into the front lines first, a fact that earned their favor.

However, Taishichen hadn’t actually considered this. He was simply thinking from a military perspective. Leaving crucial battles to the local forces might just cause me trouble, and I’d end up having to take the fall. It would be better to solve the problem right from the start.

He fought for a total of nine months in the five sectors surrounding the Ohmgeria sector. The entire impenetrable defense line was finally declared a success.

All eleven Ohmgeria sector exits to the outside world were sealed. The eleven worlds on the outer side of the Astral Tunnel were now under human control, significantly curbing the spread of the Ork invasion.

Of course, this so-called “blocking” wasn’t perfect. After all, if the enemy couldn’t outmaneuver the naval force and the Astral Tunnel’s jump points couldn’t be completely locked, the enemy could bypass the difficult planet and attack elsewhere.

However, against the Ork and Zerg, this wasn’t a significant problem. These two species weren’t completely clueless, but strategically, they rarely chose to bypass their immediate targets and attack elsewhere. When faced with a challenge, unlike during a human civil war or dealing with Chaos traitors, they would suddenly use astral tunnels to warp elsewhere. The Orcs and the Zerg would often choose to confront them head-on.

Meanwhile, the Alliance had also developed a new technology:

[Space Blockade].

This was one of the few highly effective technologies Gu Hang had mastered over the past few decades. It resulted in the creation of a massive device, approximately 900 meters in diameter. Its function was to suppress all Warp-based navigation within a one-light-year radius of the world where it was installed.

When Warp navigation was suppressed, virtually all existing interstellar travel was affected.

The inability of traditional Warp navigation meant that a Chaos invasion would become more difficult. Astral tunnels were essentially a Warp-based method of travel, albeit a safer one. Once Warp navigation was banned, they became unusable. Both Orcs and Zerg navigation utilized the Warp.

Of course, conventional methods of travel could also be utilized. However, at conventional sublight speeds, a distance of three light years is far too great. It would take ages, often reaching ten years.

Such a long journey would be unacceptable in the midst of war. Furthermore, once venturing out, the astronomical conditions in unfamiliar territories are uncertain. Finding a jump point is complex and could lead to loss of navigation.

Getting lost in the subspace is dangerous, but is the real universe truly a safe place? Getting lost in the desolate universe is no better.

Placing a space blockade on a planet essentially signals to incoming fleets that they cannot escape. The attacker’s only option is a ground assault to destroy the space blockade.

This equipment is expensive, nearly as much as a cruiser. But compared to its strategic value, its value is immense.

After acquiring this technology, Gu Hang immediately ordered the rapid construction of a production line in the Dragon Eagle star field.

To date, three production lines have been established on different worlds, and over twenty units have been produced.

They were primarily deployed on the northern front, deployed at key fortress worlds to block the constant harassment and attacks from the enemies emerging from the Scarlet Scar.

Their effectiveness was significant, leaving the Chaos enemies who had recklessly entered stunned. They were forced to charge the ground against the fortress world’s well-protected defenses, only to slam into the rocks and bleed profusely.

They were either annihilated in the assault on the fortress world, or, failing to succeed, fled in disgrace, using conventional navigation to escape the area covered by the interstellar blockade and seek a new jump point to escape.

In short, life was difficult.

Even when a fortress world was occasionally breached, the cost to the enemy was often heavy. Furthermore, the human army could hold out for extended periods thanks to the fortress worlds. After the interstellar blockade equipment was destroyed, human reinforcements usually arrived shortly thereafter.

With the powerful weapon of the interstellar blockade, the overall defenses on the northern front were much more stable.

After the situation on the northern front stabilized, the production capacity of interstellar blockers increased slightly, and some were distributed to the western and southern fronts.

These devices proved highly effective during the Omgeria campaign.

Currently, three worlds facing spillover attacks from within the star system have been equipped with these devices.

From this perspective, the unbreakable line of defense has been successfully established from a military perspective.

Politically, however, Taishichen’s achievements remain outstanding.

He never grows impatient with numerous meetings, nor does he shy away from communicating with ordinary people. He patiently listens to the needs of dozens, even hundreds, of major and minor factions across the five star systems. He strives to meet reasonable demands, yet has the fortitude to reject unreasonable ones. Rebellious individuals, those who pretend to obey but don’t give back, and those who receive what they want without giving back are resolutely suppressed.

Taishichen manages to effectively balance and suppress conflicts among these factions, whether they stem from competing interests or centuries-old feuds, ensuring that everyone shares a common goal and works together.

After receiving a detailed report from the front lines, Gu Hang was a bit surprised.

Such talent among the Space Marines was truly rare.

It seemed that if similar campaigns were to arise in the future, requiring political leadership, the descendants of the Dragon would be an excellent choice.

They weren’t like the Blood Sharks.

Unless it was a purely destructive military operation, Gu Hang would definitely not let the Blood Sharks and Ghost Sharks go out on their own. They needed a chain around their necks, otherwise, while they would ensure they could kill the enemy, the damage they caused would require many times more effort to clean up the mess later.

In this sense, sending the Dragon Regiment to fight a war like the Omgeria War was particularly suitable.

Of course, Taishichen’s performance couldn’t be attributed solely to the Dragon’s gene-seed. The Taishichen himself played a significant role as well.

I hadn’t paid much attention to him before, and I’d been a bit misjudged.

Most importantly, Tai Shichen wasn’t a new Alliance-trained Space Marine; he was the veteran captain of the Dragon King’s Spear.

He wasn’t from the Alliance, and he hadn’t had the opportunity to invest grace points into political commissar training at the Zhongsi Academy. Gu Hang was always a little wary of such individuals, and wouldn’t invest too much resources in them.

But this time, Taishichen’s performance impressed Gu Hang immensely, ultimately forcing him to break his old rules.

He immediately found Taishichen in the hero interface and invested Bounty Points, raising his level to the upper limit.

This boost surprised Gu Hang once again: Taishichen’s level had reached level 8!

This was quite remarkable.

However, just as he had expected, Taishichen’s skill tree wasn’t anything like the classic Space Marine.

Most powerful Space Marines, when they leveled up, typically saw their attributes, specializations, and traits revealed. The vast majority of them were combat-oriented, focusing on firearms, firearms, cold weapon techniques, armor, and agility. These specific areas varied, but they were all designed for combat.

A few, however, possessed a talent for commanding and directing battles, and would develop similar skills.

However, Taishichen, with his political skills and charisma, was a rare find.

However, this wasn’t without its limitations.

For example, Alvin, if he were to reach Level 7, he could reach Chapter Champion status. But Taishichen was different.

Before his enlightenment, he was roughly at the top of the Company Champions. Honestly, for a Chapter Master, not reaching that level of combat power was somewhat embarrassing. There wasn’t a top-tier Chapter Champion in the entire Dragon King’s Spear.

And now, Gu Hang had only elevated him to Level 8, barely pushing him to Chapter Champion status.

This meant that even if he were to reach Level 9 in the future, he wouldn’t reach the level of an Emperor Champion. At best, he’d be just average among Chapter Champions.

This was largely due to his talents being heavily weighted towards non-combat areas.

But that wasn’t a problem.

While there were many Space Marines with exceptional combat prowess, multifaceted talents like Taishichen were even rarer.

Under his leadership, the Unbreakable Line also excelled politically, effectively integrating the forces of several surrounding star regions.

Military and political power, when combined, can be described as impregnable.

The most dangerous period has passed, and the overflowing enemy has been contained. At most, some of the forces that slipped through in the past still wreak havoc on various worlds, but they are no longer a threat. Once the gaps are plugged, they can be gradually eliminated step by step.

Meanwhile, Taishichen and his Dragon King’s Spear Chapter haven’t always fought alone.

Among the many local factions, the most unique are the various Space Marine Chapters.

Across the five star regions of the Advancing Domain, seven Chapters remain “alive,” yet each one is in a precarious state. Forget full strength; only one of the seven has more than 500 men.

After the Dragon King’s Spear’s arrival, Taishichen’s individual communications and private conversations with them, combined with the Alliance’s actions against the various Chapters in the Magre Domain, have become quite frightening.

Those who obey prosper, while those who disobey are not only annihilated but also stigmatized.

Furthermore, these seven regiments surrendered with the goal of saving their homeworlds and their own star regions from the imminent xenos threat.

These combined factors ultimately led to their surrender.

Taishichen utilized these Chapters in the same way as his own, rallying them together. Combined with the Dragon King’s own Spear, he could once mobilize up to 2,400 Space Marines.

However, that number is now reduced.

This is primarily due to the heavy casualties among Space Marines during intense battles.

Currently, he has fewer than 1,600 Space Marines at his disposal.

But this is still a formidable force,

and the Alliance will not allow him to continue fighting with the existing forces.

For several months, the Western Expeditionary Command was not idle.

They sent in more troops, from ships to ground forces, to continuously bolster Taishichen’s forces.

In a month at most, the first major component of the expeditionary force will arrive.

This will include four fully reinforced Chapters! Let Taishichen’s interstellar warriors exceed 5,000!

At that time, they no longer need to defend the so-called unbreakable defense line, but can start to launch some operations inside Omgeria.

The commander of this operation will still be Taishichen.

He has already impressed Gu Hang. He fights well, so there is no need to change the commander as originally planned.

But at this juncture, an event that has been guarded against for a long time, but finally happened, suddenly turned the unbreakable defense line upside down.
