Chapter 814, Little Secret Group

the Unforgotten Oath, has never been recognized by the system. This has intrigued Gu Hang for quite some time.

It’s strange.

Their current state is identical to that of the other two chapters, the Light Corona and the Gnawers, and even more docile. They go to battle when asked, turn in their seeds when asked, and accept all new recruits they can fill.

Those two chapters were recognized by the system, and even the thirteen newly recovered chapters, many of which were far more disobedient than the Unforgotten Oath, were recognized by the system. Why wouldn’t the Unforgotten Oath be recognized by the system?

Gu Hang was truly puzzled and desperate to understand.

Analyzing the differences between this chapter and the others, Gu Hang did discover one: they were descended from the Death Angels.

Aside from the Unforgotten Oath, none of the remaining 44 chapters in the Alliance derived their gene-seed from the Death Angels.

Was it because of the Death Angels’ uniqueness?

What made them so special?

A gene-seed problem?

Gu Hang didn’t think so.

The gene-seed handed over by the Unforgotten Oath had been thoroughly analyzed by the Alliance’s research lab, and there wasn’t anything particularly unusual.

In history, there had been no reports of a Death Angels Chapter rebelling or being corrupted by Chaos, as if they were the most loyal.

Thinking back on this, Gu Hang was even surprised—no matter which founding Chapter, their descendants had their share of traitorous Chapters.

Of course, it was inevitable.

With such a long history and such a large base, how could there not be records of betrayal?

The gene-seed of each founding Chapter might differ slightly in its strengths and the characteristics of the Space Marines it developed, including varying resistance to corruption. Some founding Chapters’ bloodlines might be more susceptible to corruption, while others might be less so.

Regardless, while there might be variations in any aspect of the gene-seed, they would never be so drastic, so vast that no Death Angels’ descendants had ever been known to betray.

Rather than admitting this, it’s better to assume that the relevant records have been deleted or covered up.

The latter is more realistic.

If this hypothesis is true, then the situation is very interesting.

Why would the Death Angels do this?

Other founding groups also have records of their own sub-groups betraying them. Everyone in the Empire is completely accepting and understanding this, as it has nothing to do with the founding group itself.

So why are the Death Angels the only ones so concerned, wanting to erase all records of betrayal?

Furthermore, if these clearly recorded actions were all carried out by the Death Angels, how did they do it?

Even achieving this goal is not easy.

“It seems that the Death Angels have quite a few little secrets… Sooner or later, I’ll find out what they are!”

…

Gu Hang wanted to find fault with the Unforgotten Oath. Under his instructions, the Alliance’s Control Committee did the same.

However, this is actually quite difficult.

All overt means are difficult to use against them.

The main reason is that the Unforgotten Oath is truly honest and obedient.

So what other ways are there to trouble them?

There are, and many.

Given the current situation of the Alliance, there are indeed many ways to destroy a regiment that has nominally joined the Dark Side Crusade.

But it is not very helpful in pursuing their internal secrets.

Therefore, Gu Hang tried to take some conventional methods at the beginning.

For example, didn’t the Unforgotten Vow hand over the seeds honestly? There are a total of 176 of them, all of which have been trained as recruits by the Alliance and sent back to the Unforgotten Vow.

This is as it should be. The Alliance takes the seeds of various regiments, which means that they can better supplement their recruits.

Although it is not recognized by the system, the Alliance does not rely on the system’s regiment interface to train new recruits. Cultivate the young men into T1-level elite soldiers, and then perform the gene seed implantation surgery.

The probability of the operation being successful is greatly increased, because the qualifications and current qualities of the young men are good enough, the success rate is over 90%.

This set of methods is the strongest means for the Alliance to train new blood of Space Marines with a high success rate.

Furthermore, the Alliance had developed a comprehensive training program for new Space Marines, rapidly raising their skill levels to the level of veterans, or even above. This allowed these new recruits to quickly rise to prominence within the Chapter, ascend to high positions, and ultimately complete a complete “transformation” of the entire Chapter.

However, after implementing this strategy, over a hundred new recruits were inducted into the Unforgotten Oath. Within the Unforgotten Oath, there was no discrimination or exclusion against these new recruits. Those with good skills were even promoted, and their Alliance origins were not denied any influence within the Chapter.

Despite this, the entire Chapter remained largely unknown to Gu Hang.

Many of these new recruits subsequently relayed intelligence and information from within the Unforgotten Oath to Alliance headquarters, claiming everything was normal.

This

further perplexed Gu Hang, exacerbating his confusion.

He needed to understand this matter. Not only did it affect the 2,000 Space Marine quota, but he also had a hunch that this was something unusual.

He began frequently requesting the Unforgotten Oath be mobilized to participate in the Dark Side Crusade.

They could be deployed for the toughest battles.

The Unforgotten Oath would go whenever called upon, and no one could accuse them of not fighting hard.

The chapter frequently suffered heavy casualties.

But what was intriguing was that the heavy casualties were always among the new recruits sent by the Alliance. The death rate among the new recruits sent by the Alliance was over five times higher than that of the Unforgotten Oath’s veterans!

This figure was quite exaggerated.

If it were true that the new recruits were unskilled and easily perished on the battlefield, that would be understandable. However, the recruits Gu Hang had cared for were not weak at all. They were at least veteran-level, and a significant number were exemplary warriors. The Unforgotten Oath’s own veterans were only at this level, with many even falling short.

So why was the Alliance’s casualty rate so high?

Another point was that the amount of gene-seed the Unforgotten Oath subsequently transferred to the Alliance was disproportionate to their own deaths.

According to them, this was because a significant portion of the seeds had not been recovered in time from the chaotic battlefield.

This was also normal. It’s true that not every body can be recovered. Those that were successfully recovered were all handed over honestly.

But Gu Hang still felt something was wrong.
