Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 806
Chapter 800, Prologue to the Dark Side Expedition (Part 1)
Despite witnessing countless abominations in the Warp, Gu Hang was filled with rage, wishing he could unleash thunder and incinerate all those damned creatures.
However, Gu Hang would not change his original Dark Side Expedition plan.
Everything remained as planned. There
was no need to rush.
Currently, the Alliance’s Dark Side Expedition in the Magrayne Space was proceeding relatively smoothly.
Three fleets, following three routes, had liberated nine worlds in a month.
These nine worlds, being relatively close to the Alliance, presented few obstacles.
Eight of these worlds essentially switched sides upon the arrival of the Alliance army. Pressured by the massive fleet, they offered no thought of resistance. The Thunder Torch Tower was installed as planned, and the Control Council’s temporary military control was accepted. The planet’s dignitaries and officials waited patiently for new appointments.
As a matter of policy, the Control Council would not make things difficult for them. After a thorough review, those who needed to be appointed were appointed, and those who needed to be transferred were transferred.
The Alliance’s administrative agencies also moved in, and institutional reforms were initiated.
However, the Alliance’s system would not be transplanted to every liberated world with the Dark Side Crusade.
The Alliance simply didn’t have the necessary administrative personnel to manage it.
The current plan was to implement this strategy only during the initial stages of the expedition, in areas close to the Alliance.
The two fleets, which were essentially armed parades, would at most deploy hundreds of thousands of troops and large amounts of relief supplies to the surface. According to the plan, each would split into three and continue their advance into the interior of the Magre Sector.
As for the strongest of the three expeditionary fleets, it encountered the most troublesome of the nine worlds.
In the previous political confrontation between the Alliance and Holy Terra, it had been used as a core fortress for border defense. The overall political atmosphere was strongly anti-Alliance, and the reaction to the “Message to Our Compatriots in Disaster” was quite intense. More importantly, the Empire and the local sector government had already deployed significant military forces on the planet.
Faced with the approaching expeditionary fleet, they offered armed resistance and attempted to negotiate terms.
This world, strictly speaking, isn’t easy to conquer.
As the Empire’s first line of defense against the Alliance as a hypothetical enemy, it invested considerable resources. Before the catastrophe struck, the region’s leader had a heavy political responsibility: to defend the front lines in the event of a military confrontation with the Alliance. Consequently, from the region’s perspective, they poured significant resources into this planet.
This resulted in a highly fortified world, with a permanent presence of the Astra Militarum. Even 20% of this Astra Militarum’s forces came directly from the Solar Corps in the Central Realm. The
naval fleet, led by an aircraft carrier and a battleship, totaling hundreds of warships, coupled with a fortified planetary defense system, made it a formidable nemesis anywhere in the Empire. No matter what kind of enemy, it would be difficult to defeat.
This is precisely why they felt confident enough to negotiate with the Alliance in the current climate.
Unexpectedly, the Alliance refused to negotiate.
The expedition had just begun, and it was time to establish its authority. How could there be any room for negotiation?
An eight-hour ultimatum was issued. When the time came, a fierce attack followed.
Initially, the fortress planet was not afraid.
If they had to fight, they would fight.
Only after they had inflicted pain on the alliance could they negotiate properly.
Aside from those who were truly loyal to Holy Terra’s orders and who would rather die than resist the Alliance, the remaining ones who were still willing to fight were essentially trying to “use war to promote peace.”
Simply giving up everything and kowtow to the so-called Control Council wouldn’t lead to anything particularly good. They had to show off their prowess and demonstrate their united front value. Only then, during negotiations, could they fetch a good price for the external fleets, the Astra Militarum, and even the entire planet.
This was indeed the case for the first few days. Relying on a reasonably good fleet and a comprehensive planetary defense system, they fought the Alliance effectively, successfully keeping the Alliance out of the planet’s orbit.
But what followed was a harsher and more ferocious Alliance attack.
And there was more bad news.
According to the planet’s pro-war military commander, they had expended approximately 10% of their ammunition and high-grade energy reserves in those few days. These items, of course, could not be produced domestically. Before the disaster, the planet relied entirely on the star region government for supplies.
Now, naturally, supplies were gone, forcing them to rely on their warehouses.
Not only would the warehouses eventually run out, but more importantly, in the previous battles, they had inflicted virtually no damage on the Alliance’s expeditionary fleet. The Alliance fleet had lost virtually no ships, with only minor damage sustained.
Naturally, the planet’s high-ranking officials were dissatisfied. However, those who held leadership positions were all knowledgeable military personnel. After carefully examining the battle reports, they readily understood that the cause of this failure was the Alliance’s tactics.
These “invaders” from the east were incredibly powerful, appearing harsh, explosive, and merciless. They issued an ultimatum, leaving no room for negotiation, and immediately launched their attack.
In reality, however, they were not reckless. They chose not to charge head-on, but rather to employ a strategy of decoy, deliberately expending ammunition on the defenders.
However, this was an unstoppable conspiracy.
There was no other way to avoid expending resources, or else they could transform decoys and feints into full-scale assaults.
That would be fatal.
What could be done in this situation?
Those on the planet, already shaky, wavered even further.
However, after only a few days, they weren’t ready to surrender.
They simply continued to offer negotiating terms to the Alliance, directly stating some demands—and they weren’t even the bottom line.
They also formulated a new battle plan, demanding ammunition conservation on the front lines.
However, this conservation led to problems.
The Zhuge-class aircraft carrier, part of the Alliance fleet, demonstrated its formidable delivery capabilities. A squadron of Space Marines, along with several clearly disposable landing craft, was delivered to the starport. In a brief, intense battle, these Blood Shark warriors executed the decapitation of the frontline commander within the starport,
slaying the most steadfast advocates of war .
The shockwaves of this battle were immense.
While they still retained their fleet and the numerous orbital guns on the planet’s surface, all warfare infrastructure required human intervention.
How can we fight if people’s hearts are shaken?
