Chapter 730: How the Prophecy Comes True

Commorragh.

This is a place situated between the Warp and the real universe. Within the rifts of the Veil, the Eldar Empire at its peak, with supreme technology, carved out a wondrous space.

They built cities within, the core of which was a Cosmic Bone, the pinnacle of Eldar technology.

Much of Eldar technology is based on Wraithbone, a material developed and processed by the Eldar themselves, offering a highly malleable form. It can exhibit virtually any physical properties desired by its creator, allowing it to be used in any Eldar application.

Warships, Warframes, Eldar Titans… are developed through the splicing of Wraithbone.

A single high-level Wraithbone, combined with countless other processed materials, creates everything.

Cosmic Bone is the most advanced of all Wraithbone. Even when the Eldar were the dominant force in this universe, the entire Eldar Empire could only create a handful of these.

At their peak, they used them to terraform galaxies and build space cities. Each one was the Eldar Empire’s most prized creation, a magnificent artifact, an invincible war machine, a supreme work of art…

They arrogantly called these supreme creations “Cosmic Bones.” They truly believed they were the skeleton of the universe, the Eldar Empire the flesh and blood upon it, and they believed they would endure forever.

However, boundless greed and indulgence, at the zenith of the Eldar Empire, gave rise to the unholy god Slaanesh, born from the deep resonance of all Eldar souls. The Warp storm unleashed by her birth not only roiled the Warp but also reverberated throughout the real universe, instantly destroying the entire Eldar Empire.

The final Cosmic Bone created by the Eldar Empire was placed within the Veil between the Warp and the real universe. Once they mastered the methods of opening and controlling the Veil, they planned to use this Cosmic Bone to construct a Veil City, capable of swiftly connecting the Warp and reality, allowing for instant travel anywhere, serving as a cosmic transit point.

During the destruction of the Eldar Empire, only a handful of Eldar residing within the Veiled City were fortunate enough to escape.

Though they lived in constant fear of being absorbed by Slaanesh for countless millennia, at least they survived, and along with their Veiled City, they have survived to this day.

That Veiled City is Comoros, and the Eldar who survived within Comoros are the Dark Eldar.

They made Comoros their home, surviving within the Veil for tens of thousands of years. During this time, they continuously plundered resources from the outside world, using the Cosmic Bone as their core to devour and transform these materials, adding to Comoros’s power.

Today, Comoros is more like a planet, constantly growing and expanding within the Veil. Even at its slowest pace, its scale has surpassed common notions over the past tens of thousands of years.

Today, Comoros is home to numerous clans, large and small, founded at varying times, some recent, some far removed. Recent examples might be new families formed in the past year or two due to conspiracies and shifts; further back, they might even date back to the once-glorious Eldar Empire, spanning tens of thousands of years.

There are also large and small families.

The largest, like the Blood Curse family, are one of the pillars of Comoros; the smaller, a group of three or five nobles, banding together to profit.

Speaking of nobility, this is a hallmark of the Dark Eldar.

Eldar fertility is absurdly low, and infant mortality is high. Newborns are prone to being devoured by Slaanesh, requiring births in specialized facilities, but even then, risks remain.

This creates a significant shortage of manpower.

Every Eldar born naturally is precious, considered a “noble,” and enjoys the highest ceiling in Comoran society. Not every nobility can truly rise to the top, but at least their development is unlimited; with ability and opportunity, they can rise.

Beyond the nobility, the so-called commoners are second-born children. These Dark Eldar are created through genetic technology, not natural births.

Their lifespans are significantly shorter than those of normal Eldar, and so are their offspring. Compared to the nobles, their bloodlines are comprehensively degraded, making them more vulnerable to Slaanesh’s soul-sucking.

But no matter how degraded, they are still Dark Eldar, and the nobles consider them their own kind.

However, even with genetic technology, direct cloning and the generation of new populations would still be insufficient to fill Comoros’ vast manpower gap. Instead, a large number of foreign mercenaries and slaves constitute Comoros’s largest pool of manpower. Controlled and enslaved by the Dark Eldar using brutal and bloody techniques, they perform the most arduous and exhausting labor, serve as cannon fodder in battle, and, when necessary, are sacrificed to replenish the Dark Eldar’s souls constantly being drained by Slaanesh.

Nobles lead families, with younger sons forming the backbone, and slaves and mercenaries at the bottom. Countless such families form the general framework of Comoros.

Above all these families lie three major institutions:

the Witch Elves Cult, the Haemonculi Guild, and Viktor, the “Dark Witch King.”

The former two do not lead families, but nearly every family has Witch Elves and Haemonculi, who are also members of the cult and the Guild. Sometimes, they align themselves with their families, but more often, when the interests of a cult or guild conflict with those of their families, they tend to side with the cult or guild.

Some families are willing to risk their lives for both, annihilating any family that dares to conflict with the cult or guild in order to achieve greater benefits.

As for the “Dark Witch King,” that’s a single individual.

It’s said that Victor, despite his noble lineage, rose from humble beginnings. He began as a mercenary, and over millennia, he built a formidable reputation and established his own family. He then used the “Dark Witch” family as a foundation to unite and bring together countless other families.

Conspiracy, bloodshed, terror—these Dark Eldar tactics are mastered to perfection in his hands.

His sheer strength inspires fear and makes those afraid to challenge him. He is a formidable warrior, a great mage, and a wise ruler.

The unification of the Dark Eldar and of Commorra was once considered nearly impossible. But in the past three thousand years, Victor has achieved it.

Comoros still wasn’t a unified regime, but it did have a unified leader. He diligently maintained the entire Comoros structure, and he alone could mobilize dozens, even hundreds, of families to act together.

In the past thousand years, no one had resisted him.

Neither dared nor was willing to.

They didn’t dare because they feared his methods and his power.

They didn’t want to because rallying around him was truly beneficial.

He truly could lead a team and reap the rewards.

And at this moment, he was with the leader of the Wuling Cult.

The leader, the Great Wuling Crone, had a faint violet glow in her eyes.

The image revealed in her pupils mirrored what Gu Hang had witnessed in the Kingdom of Storm God.

After a while, the light in her eyes faded and her body involuntarily took a few steps back.

After a moment’s respite, she bowed slightly to Viktor and said, “He, has seen it.”

Viktor nodded.

His expression was melancholic.

He never showed it to others.

It was dangerous for his rule.

But only in front of the old woman could he reveal a little without worrying about it. On

the one hand, the old woman wouldn’t reveal it to anyone, and wouldn’t become his enemy. On

the other hand, she was the only one who knew the pressure he was under.

The pressure of the fate of the entire Eldar.

“Prophecy… prophecy… Haha, you know, I used to be the last person to believe in fate?”

“If I believed in fate, I would bow to it, and how could Viktor be who I am today?”

He was speaking to the old woman, but it was almost like he was mumbling to himself.

He had the right to say that.

In the beginning, he was truly just a mercenary. Viktor had risen from obscurity, and only after achieving success and fame did he regain his name—or rather, his name found him.

During this time, he faced countless near-death moments. If he hadn’t disbelieved in fate, and hadn’t always maintained a cool head and a fighting spirit, he would have lost his life countless times.

How could he accept his fate?

The old woman understood and smiled as she said, “Perhaps, this is your fate? You are destined to lead our people. The sufferings of the past were all gifts from fate…”

“Haha.” Victor sneered, “Fate, fate… Could it be that the final fate of the noble and great Eldar will be decided by humans?”

“Those humans, do they deserve it? They are such a lowly and ignorant race. There is no rationality or wisdom in them. They follow the crowd, they are blind, and they are so easily controlled… Look at those slaves at the bottom of Comoros, most of them are them! They are only fit to be slaves! When will it be the turn of this inferior race to rule and dominate?”

“Their ridiculous empire has such a vast territory, but it is ruled like a bloated zombie. Their poor governance is simply not what we should have in this era. Overlord of the galaxy? I have never seen a hegemon attacked by all forces in these ten thousand years! It’s ridiculous!”

Victor cursed and listed the many shortcomings of the human race.

The old woman listened quietly beside him.

After Victor had finished venting his anger, the old woman spoke softly, “But their numbers are endless.”

“Oh, just endless slaves.”

“Among them, there are also many heroes. They have their Emperor.”

At this point, Victor fell silent.

The Emperor… who dared to deny him?

That being, towering in the Warp, standing as equal to the four evil gods, could be feared, hated, but no one could ignore or deny him.

Speaking of heroes among humanity… the Eldar pirate groups, raiding the human empire, had countless encounters with humanity. Most of the time, the Dark Eldar were able to leverage their superior technology and elusive movements to gain the upper hand and achieve their desired results.

But they weren’t invincible. They often suffered setbacks.

Perhaps it was the Dark Eldar themselves who failed, but there was no shortage of so-called “heroes” among humanity, turning the tide and saving the day.

“What’s more, a new god may appear among them.”

The old woman added softly, making Victor even more uneasy.

He paced back and forth and couldn’t help asking a stupid question: “Are you really sure? Are you sure of all that?”

“No.” The old woman spread her hands and said, “We’ve discussed this a long time ago, haven’t we? Prophecy, this thing, we only know that it will come true, but no one knows how and in what way it will come true.”

“Maybe we are wrong, and the Blood Curse Family is right. It’s very simple. The Human Emperor and his son who is destined to awaken are the fulfillment.”

“It is also possible that the Ender Family is right. The Human Emperor is still not a true god. He has not yet sacrificed the entire race on which he ascended to become a true God of the Warp. The youngest evil god is still the Slaanesh we fear. What we are pursuing is a son of Slaanesh…”

“It is also possible that what I said is right. The God of Storms, who has already occupied an ecological niche in the Warp and will probably grow even more in the future, is the youngest. His already born son is the one who decides everything…”

“Or maybe we are all wrong.”

“But it doesn’t matter.”

“We have enough power to try every route.”

Victor couldn’t help but ask, “Destroying Robert, or destroying Gu Hang’s alliance, killing his son, perhaps we can reverse the prophecy?”

“Anyone who attempts to violate the prophecy will always make it come true in another way they don’t want.”

“Huh…” Victor sighed and finally fell silent.
