Chapter 685: Strategy of Launching the Extermination Order

. The change in Salilius’s mentality is very interesting.

Although his expression has basically not changed from the moment he entered the door to the moment he sat down, and he has always had the most common poker face among Space Marines, Gu Hang can still roughly guess the change in Salilius’s mentality from the slight fluctuations in his spirit and soul, as well as the changes in his eyes when he scanned the two seats.

He chuckled in his heart.

In fact, no matter which position Salilius chooses, no matter what kind of mentality he has towards this battle, it will not affect the result. Gu Hang does not care particularly.

It just determines the attitude with which Gu Hang faces him.

Now, it is considered a good result.

Putting this thought aside, Gu Hang coughed lightly and said, “Everyone is here, let’s get started.”

“First of all, I want to inform you of a news: the time we have for the Battle of Rheaduches is very limited. A hive fleet is sailing at sub-light speed in the real universe, rapidly approaching Rheaduches. It is certain that it is the reinforcements called by the Queen of Zerg. They will arrive in a year. Once that fleet arrives, the situation in Rheaduches will be greatly changed. We’d better get rid of the Queen of Zerg before that.” “The fastest

way to get rid of her is obviously not to engage in conventional warfare. That will be a protracted war, and it will take an unknown number of years to win;”

“It cannot be a decapitation tactic either. Although we have the most elite fighters, the enemy’s anti-aircraft firepower and orbital biological fleets are huge, and the Queen of Zerg’s specific location cannot be searched. The loss of decapitation is very high. The lives of these most elite fighters cannot be wasted in vain.”

“I am determined to use the extermination order to completely destroy this world that is already full of corruption and depravity.”

“Who’s for and who’s against this?”

No one raised any objections.

Very good, it put an end to Gu Hang’s idea of doing something out of spite.

In fact, it was quite normal.

Gu Hang’s prestige was so high that even when Salilius came, he had to sit down and acquiesce that the leader and commander-in-chief of this battle was a mortal like Gu Hang. So when he proposed an idea, as long as it wasn’t too outrageous, who could object?

What’s more, there had to be reasons for objection.

What Gu Hang said was right.

Using the Extermination Order to attack Readuches, as long as it could succeed, would definitely be the method with the lowest cost, the most thorough effect, and the fastest results.

And the human army did have this ability.

After the southern and western fronts merged, all the Extermination Order weapons could be used in combination. After entering the Princess Star Domain, the two legions had used up quite a few Extermination Order weapons. Many completely infected worlds were not worth saving, and there were still a lot of bugs in them, so they should be baptized with the Extermination Order.

But no matter how much they used, both sides still had some inventory.

Furthermore, due to the unique circumstances of the battle within the Princess Star Region, Extermination Order weapons were in short supply, so a significant number were urgently transferred from the surrounding cosmic regions.

Almost all of them were Burning Sky torpedoes, the most common weapon.

One after another, they were loaded onto transport ships and delivered to the southern and western corps, awaiting use.

Currently, both sides must have thirty Burning Sky torpedoes. If needed, another thirty could be requisitioned within the next year.

If a few dozen Burning Sky torpedoes could resolve the situation, that would undoubtedly be the best.

Although each Burning Sky torpedo is worth half a cruiser, thirty would be worth nearly a hundred billion tax coins. However, considering the gains achieved and the costs avoided, it would definitely pay for itself.

While that’s easy to say, the only problem is how to deploy the Extermination Order weapons on Readuches.

It was not advisable to launch a missile towards the surface while facing the Hive Fleet across orbit. Doing so would be useless, not to mention thirty, even three hundred or three thousand, Sky Burning Torpedoes; they would all be intercepted mid-flight.

But no one asked this question.

The eyes of the dignitaries gathered on Gu Hang.

They believed that since Gu Hang had proposed this idea, he must have something else to say, a solution.

Facing these glances, Gu Hang smiled.

He said, “Why are you all staring at me like that? I want to hear your thoughts.”

The dignitaries present looked at each other instead of Gu Hang this time, but still no one spoke. Everyone had a clear idea.   A more realistic approach to issuing an extermination order against Rheaduches was to proceed step by step. First, suppress the Zerg’s biological fleet in the planet’s orbit, and try to create a clearing space for troops to land. Then,

under   fire from the enemy fleet and the ground, clear the orbital artillery batteries on the ground. Not a complete cleanup, but at least secure the airspace above a certain area.   Then, despite considerable losses, they would have to deploy troops to the ground.   Perhaps ten transport ships could be used to launch one. This requires a relentless investment, regardless of cost, until ground forces can gain a temporary foothold. Then, they can fight for and destroy the biological artillery nests, further clearing out the anti-orbital firepower.   Once this is sufficiently cleared, the Extermination Order weapons can be deployed.   A 100% success rate is impossible. After all, there will be other anti-aircraft guns in the distance, the Zerg will   launch swarms of flying demons to attack the dropped bombs, and attacks from biological ships in orbit that haven’t been destroyed but have at most been expelled. If there’s only one or a few Extermination Order weapons, then the low probability of deployment makes it impossible. After all, if they’re intercepted, they’re gone.   But humanity currently has thirty.   If the probability of deployment is higher than 3%, then it seems worth attempting.   This can be calculated by the losses incurred by transport ships during the previous ground deployment.   However, there are two problems with this approach:   First, how much will humanity have to pay before the deployment success rate reaches 3%? Facing ground firepower to drive back the Zerg fleet; facing the Zerg fleet to clear the ground firepower… In these two steps, countless warships will be lost.   If it were just a loss, it would   be fine. This is the final battle. No matter what the loss is, as long as the final victory is achieved, it is acceptable. But the problem is that there is a huge risk. The human fleet will suffer a devastating defeat at the hands of an enemy that is obviously inferior to them under such extremely unfavorable circumstances.   Then everything will be ruined.   Compared with this problem, the second point, that is, the 3% success rate is not necessarily true. Facing the transport ships that deliver troops to the ground, the interception of the Zerg is one strength; facing the Extinction Order weapons, their interception must be another strength.   If all thirty Burning Sky torpedoes are launched and the last one fails, it will be embarrassing.   These things are what everyone present can think of, and this is also the reason why they are reluctant to speak.   In other words, it is nothing more than this set of things. There is no trick to play with it, but it can hardly be called a brilliant tactic.   (End of this chapter)
