Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 658

Chapter 656: Not a traitor?
“Report, Major.”
Akanji’s throat moved, a little nervous.
The person before him was a Space Marine, to be sure, and he should show respect. However, looking at their livery, he felt at a loss for words.
Those Space Marines, primarily white with green livery.
From their livery, Akanji could recognize them as members of the Dragon King’s Spear Chapter.
He recognized this Chapter not because of its fame, but because, before joining the expeditionary force and setting out, during internal officer training, they had mentioned the enemies they would face. The focus, of course, was on the various traitor Chapters involved in the Heresy.
The Ironclad was paramount, but other traitor Chapters also necessitated attention.
The Stone Shield, the Fury, the New World Torch… Akanji had seen and learned their liveries, just to avoid mistaking them if he encountered them on the battlefield.
Isn’t this white-and-green ‘Spear of the Dragon King’ one of the Traitor Chapters?
Encountering them on the battlefield would logically require them to unleash all firepower to intercept these Space Marines, never allowing them to penetrate the defenses.
But… they were coming under the banner of the Alliance.
From the observatory, Akanji’s technical specialists observed that the Alliance-flagged ships were coordinating with the Changqi Star’s orbital defenses to strike the Ironclad fleet, and were achieving good results. At least the previously shaky orbital defenses were finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.
Furthermore, numerous landing craft were launched from the Alliance ships, entering the starports and star forts as reinforcements.
Upon hearing this news, Akanji was naturally delighted. He was practically doomed; reinforcements would be a lifesaver.
However, he never expected the arrival of the Dragon King’s Spears.
At first, he thought the enemy had arrived before the reinforcements.
With only two hundred men left, Akanji felt doomed. Those three Dragon King Spears alone could have wiped out his entire force, not to mention the Space Marines, who were accompanied by two fully staffed infantry battalions.
He was prepared to die on the battlefield, but the subsequent turn of events surprised him.
Scouts reported that the three Dragon King Spears, along with their troops, had completely eliminated any insects they encountered.
There was also another detail.
The Space Marines were shrouded in armor, making them difficult to see clearly. However, the ordinary soldiers nearby, while undoubtedly fully encased for space combat, appeared normal humans, unlike the Infected, who exhibited exaggerated deformities.
This was why Akanji was somewhat convinced when they claimed they were representing the Alliance.
Of course, the main reason he let them in was… they couldn’t be stopped.
Might as well take a gamble on reinforcements.
So, not only did he let them in, but at the request of the leading Space Marine officer, he also reported his knowledge.
Then, he looked at them anxiously.
Even then, he couldn’t rule out the possibility that they were enemies. They might have come to steal their intelligence and kill everyone who was left.
But his gamble was right.
The worst-case scenario didn’t happen.
The Space Marine nodded slightly and called over a fellow commander, also a major, judging by his rank.
After a brief exchange, the major stepped forward and saluted Akanji. “I’m Major Li Guojin of the 8th Regiment, 277th Division, 6th Alliance Army Group. Following the intelligence you provided, we’ve decided to investigate the direction of support provided by the Ortopis warrior who took your troops. However, your defenses here appear precarious. I’ll leave you a combat battalion, and they’ll obey your orders. I hope you can hold on.”
Akanji was stunned for a moment, then overwhelmed with surprise!
He thanked them profusely, but the Space Marines and Major Li Guojin didn’t engage him further. Time was short, the mission was critical, and they had to provide support as quickly as possible.
Akanji watched them leave, then glanced at the remaining combat battalion, which actually outnumbered his remaining men, feeling a bit overwhelmed.
It wasn’t just reinforcements; their tactics were different.
With this new unit, his strength once again approached 1,000.
However, he wouldn’t be so reckless in commanding these allies. Although the enemy only had a captain and battalion commander, the current situations were vastly different.
Working together to secure the area was Akanji’s greatest wish.
…
“Captain.”
Riccardo Lazio, captain of the Dragon King’s Spear’s 4th Company, strode forward, leading the operation.
His company, aboard a fast strike cruiser and accompanied by eight other small and medium-sized warships, arrived at Changqi Star as the vanguard of the entire force, at a time when the entire planet was at its most critical.
They immediately engaged in the battle, not only deploying their fleet from the outer reaches but also engaging the planet’s orbital system to attack the armored warships from both sides. They also deployed troops to the starport to relieve the pressure within.
But what was a bit ridiculous was…
“The Changqi Star side is still constantly demanding proof of our identities,” the mortal liaison said, his tone slightly annoyed.
And quite understandably, it was such a time, and they were still fussing about it.
Upon arriving near the system, they had finally, with much effort, established contact with Changqi Star’s command center.
However, the opposing general of the Solar Legion and a non-commissioned officer of the Ortopis Chapter, in charge of the battle, were deeply suspicious of them.
On the one hand, while the Dragon King’s Spears hadn’t done anything ‘bad,’ they had, after all, been part of the insurgents. Now that they claimed to be working with the Alliance and coming to support them, wasn’t it normal for them to be a little skeptical?
On the other hand, the Alliance was so far away, and their sudden arrival in the White Curtain Star Region was a bit unbelievable.
Lazio waved his hand and said, “It’s natural for them to be suspicious. After all, we moved so quickly. Furthermore, we’re the only ones present at the moment. The majority of the Chapter, including the main force led by Chapter Captain Martins, is still en route.”
“We must forgive them and look forward,”
he said, holding out a digital document board.
The liaison officer received it, his pupils shrinking. “This is…” “
On the other side, we’ve already contacted Chapter Commander Salilius. On behalf of the Ortaupis Chapter and the entire Western Front, he welcomes us and orders all Imperial troops and Ortaupis warriors on Long Air Star to cooperate with our operations.” “
Now, convey the orders and encrypted documents to Long Air Star. From now on, I will take over the battle on Long Air Star. Let those filthy Iron Armored liars go to hell!”
