Chapter 538, Unfortunately, the opponent ran fast

Chapter 538: It’s a shame the enemy escaped so quickly   .

Watching the Fury Fleet disengage from the battle, Gu Hang, aboard the Hippogriff, felt a pang of regret.

Aren’t we supposed to fight to the bitter end?

Keep fighting! Your psychic team is about to be annihilated.   In reality, ever since Gu Hang’s Hippogriff landed in this airspace, he and the Storm Mage Corps he led had already begun intensive work.   The Storm Mage Corps now boasts over ten thousand capable psychics of all levels.   According to the system’s standards for initiating and training psychics, Gu Hang has expended one million grace points.   Of course, personnel training can’t rely solely on expending grace points.   In fact, with the Alliance’s expansion, areas like military training, administrative officer training, and psychic training—those areas that once relied heavily on grace points for acceleration—are now becoming less reliant on the system.   This isn’t a sign that Gu Hang has reduced his investment. On the contrary, human resource development is his second-largest investment in grace points, after the technology lottery. He has consistently increased his spending on this area.   However, as the size of the organization grew, the military and administrative structures expanded rapidly, making it impossible to manage everything through the system.   Breaking away from system dependence was an inevitable trend. Gu Hang accepted this and began placing as many talented individuals, acquired through the consumption of Gift Points, in core positions as possible.   This was the case with the Psychic Team. Eighty percent of the members of the Storm Mage Corps were trained by Gu Hang using Gift Points.   Furthermore, the Alliance’s various mage academies, in close collaboration with the psychic orders originally established within the Dragonhawk Sector, had also trained over a hundred thousand psychics.   However, unlike those trained directly through Gu Hang’s Gift Points, psychics trained through this most conventional and orthodox method were less stable.   Their abilities were volatile; some were quite useful, but a significant number possessed powers of limited use, often unconventional.   Their states were also unstable, making them prone to losing control, posing a threat to both themselves and others, and even self-destruction was a significant challenge.   These unstable individuals needed to be managed. They will either continue their studies at the Mage Academy, striving to master their abilities. Those deemed lacking the talent will be sent to the prisons of the Psychic Order.   Those who can control their psychic powers will be assigned to various sectors of society, where their abilities can be fully utilized.   These roles are primarily in the military, secret services, police, and legal departments.   All military units, even the Honor Guard, welcome these psychics. Their abilities can be a significant asset for expansion.   As for the Storm Mage Corps, the largest and most stable group of psychics, they are directly under Gu Hang’s command and always obey his orders. Most often, they are assigned to various combat units, operating in small or medium-sized groups.   Currently, they have all been assembled by Governor Gu.   With Gu Hang at the core, these Storm Mage Corps members can use their psychic energy as “fuel,” enhancing his power.   Harnessing this energy, Gu Hang will become even more powerful.   Incidentally, he was also attempting to tear open the Warp rift, descending into the real universe with even greater force to rip through the enemy ships’ void shields.   Logically, tearing open the Warp and allowing the power of the Kingdom to descend shouldn’t be a difficult task for Gu Hang. With the assistance of tens of thousands of Storm Mages and the added power of the Storm Kingdom, Gu Hang’s destructive power over the fleet would be significantly increased.   However, this time, the problem arose when the Kingdom descended.   Gu Hang sensed a significant resistance.

That was the psionic corps led by the Librarians of the Fury and New World Torch Chapters.

Gu Hang perceived them as numbering around two thousand. Their

average level was similar to that of the Stormcasters.

However, the Librarians of the two Chapters totaled over eighty, far superior to the average level of the Stormcasters. The Librarians of both Chapters were all A+ level. There were also five A-level psykers. The lowest remaining psykers were B-level. The

awakened psykers among the Space Marines were indeed far more powerful than ordinary mortals.

Of course, this was the average level, the lower limit. The upper limit was probably about the same.

This group of high-level Librarians, along with a group of psykers, was working to prevent the arrival of the Stormcasters.

The rift was opened, and Gu Hang’s psychic powers were enhanced. He indeed used his psychic power to rip through the void shields of three enemy ships and direct his own fire to destroy them.

His target then became the Triumphal Fire.

However, as a battle barge, the Triumphal Fire’s void shield was incredibly strong, making it difficult even for Gu Hang to rip it apart.

Furthermore, there was resistance from the opposing psychic team.

After some maneuvering, Gu Hang was nearly able to defeat the hostile psychics. The rift in the Storm Kingdom was widening, and the abilities Gu Hang could unleash would only grow stronger.

Already three or four hundred psychics had perished in the struggle against Gu Hang, with some fainting and others suffering brain explosions.

At this point, Paulitus chose a full retreat.

Giving Gu Hang another fifteen minutes or so would allow him to defeat the hostile psychics, increase the force of the Kingdom’s arrival, and then rapidly rip through the Triumphal Fire’s void shield.

The catapult system on the Hippogriff was ready to go, and could instantly launch several Dragon Elephant fighters and two patrol ships into the enemy’s face. Combined with the locked bombardment of our heavy artillery, there was indeed hope of quickly eliminating such a huge ship.

Being able to take out one of the enemy’s main battleships would be of great help in the subsequent battle.

Unfortunately, the enemy ran away quickly.

…

After the enemy’s main fleet withdrew, the only thing left in front of the Alliance Fleet was the combination of star fortresses and space stations.

Their strength and firepower were actually not weak. If they really fought hard, the Alliance Fleet would definitely win, but there would be additional losses.

But the enemy would not move.

Then the Alliance Fleet could naturally keep its distance and adopt a surrounding, hunting, and pulling method to fight.

This would prolong the battle, but the losses would be smaller.

After a week, the enemy’s resistance was basically completely disintegrated.
