Chapter 517, Trial Court Cooperation

“Guards! Guards!”

Zhai Guangshan, who had sensed something was wrong, shouted to the outside with all his might.

There was no movement.

This shouldn’t be the case.

He has always been very concerned about security issues. Wherever he goes, he brings his elite guards.

Although he can’t find top-level extraordinary warriors like Space Marines to protect him, this team is undoubtedly made up of the strongest soldiers among mortals and is well-equipped; an A-level psychic with three B-levels, who serve as his psychic advisors and also as guards.

Wherever he goes, his guards will take over the local security work; even if they can’t take over completely due to special circumstances, they will at least participate, as they can’t let the security work get out of control.

His security forces should be on standby at all times, and they should be able to be called to his side with just a call.

But at this moment, they didn’t respond.

Zhai Guangshan suddenly looked at Gu Hang’s face.

Gu Hang nodded slightly: “By the way, I haven’t apologized for being late just now. Sorry, it took me some time to deal with some small issues.”

Zhai Guangshan’s heart sank to the bottom.

He could barely understand that if Gu Hang chose to attack with all his strength, his guards would not be able to resist.

After all, Gu Hang had many powerful forces that could not be found in the Menghe Star Region.

But no matter what, his guards should not be wiped out without even a single alarm, right?

What’s more, he didn’t even hear the slightest sound of fighting here!

Zhai Guangshan’s eyes turned to Fisher, who had been chatting with him just now.

The chairman of the Shipbuilding Group lowered his head at this moment, looking at his nose and his nose at his mouth, as if he couldn’t see his gaze, and said nothing.

Zhai Guangshan suddenly realized.

“You are all in the same group, right!”

He laughed angrily, stood up, and opened his mouth to curse.

But at this moment, a ray of spiritual light flashed from his body!

Zhai Guangshan was always on the move with his ships, which were also on constant alert. He also carried a psychic artifact, which not only provided a miniature energy shield but also a treasure that allowed him to teleport instantly to a specific location.

This item was a private treasure that could not be mass-produced, was expensive, and rare, with only a few to be found in a single universe. Its creation typically required a Mechanicus sage, working in conjunction with high-level psykers, and took years. Even if it was created, it usually circulated within the Mechanicus or the Psionic Order, rarely being released outside.

Acquiring such a weapon for self-defense was extremely rare.

It was also Zhai Guangshan’s last resort for safety.

He feigned indignation as he was about to speak, but in reality it was a cover for activating the artifact.

In a flash of light, he vanished.

After Zhai Guangshan left, Fisher, who had been pretending nothing had happened, looked a little annoyed. “Why did he get away? I didn’t expect he had something like this! If he gets away, it’ll be a real hassle to go back and gather our forces to deal with him!”

Fisher, no longer concerned with their friendship, was preoccupied with the future troubles.

Meneke Martini, the High Inquisitor of the Shimmering Tribunal, turned his gaze to Gu Hang.

He had been deeply impressed by Gu Hang’s performance in dealing with the Supreme Leader’s guards outside.

He had no doubt that dealing with those guards would be a problem.

Not to mention himself, the squad of loyal stormtroopers he had brought with him was just for show. Although the operation was carried out in his name as High Inquisitor, the attackers were almost entirely Alliance.

One squad of Phoenix Space Marines, one squad of Battle Sisters, one squad of Demon Hunters, four squads of Glory Guards, and one squad of Storm Mages for psychic support…

although there were only seventy or eighty of them in total, they would have no problem killing all of Zhai Guangshan’s guards.

Even if there was an A-rank psyker among the enemy, it would still be a formidable challenge. However, as a High Inquisitor, he possessed specialized methods for suppressing psykers. Furthermore, among the Phoenix Space Marines that General Gu had brought with him was a top-tier warrior, rumored to have participated in the widely circulated “Bloodshed Death Battle,” racking up a winning streak.

Killing an A-rank psyker

would be easy. But the problem lay in the silence!

No shots fired, only the cold, icy blades; the sound of footsteps deliberately masked, making them unnoticeable.

All of this was beyond the capabilities of the team he nominally led.

Throughout the operation, General Gu, under the guise of observation, remained by their side. Though seemingly inactive, Martini repeatedly sensed the overwhelming pressure emanating from Gu Hang.

That feeling reached its peak during the final assault.

The A-rank psychic across from him was like a chicken with its neck squeezed. His psychic powers, which should have been powerful enough to rip apart a Lion King tank, were completely suppressed in another dimension, unable to be released at all. His head was easily severed by a knife.

And then, the next moment, that overwhelming sense of oppression suddenly vanished…

Recalling this, he couldn’t help but glance at Gu Hang again.

Gu Hang’s relaxed smile was identical to the expression he had worn in the previous scene.

He believed that with the unfathomable abilities displayed by this commander-in-chief, Zhai Guangshan couldn’t possibly escape so easily. He

must have a backup plan.

Reassured, he said nothing to Gu Hang. Instead, he comforted the anxious Fisher beside him:

“Mr. Chairman, please be patient. Everything is under control.”

Fisher’s anxiety wouldn’t subside with just these words, but he couldn’t say anything else. He could only force himself to appear calm.

Menech Martini ignored him and turned his gaze back to Gu Hang, raising something:

“Commander-in-Chief Gu, I think we, the Shining Tribunal, could have more cooperation with the Alliance.”

“Oh?” Gu Hang glanced over and said with a smile, “Of course we welcome that.”

Is that a promise?

Martini was momentarily stunned.

It seemed a bit simple.

But he quickly perked up.

Good thing it’s a promise!

In fact, during previous operations, he had observed the Alliance’s elite teams, particularly the so-called “demon hunter” teams.

He had discovered that these demon hunters bore a striking resemblance to the Inquisitors directly trained by their own Inquisition.

Both possessed certain conventional combat abilities and techniques, and possessed a degree of psychic power. However, these psychic abilities differed significantly from those of psykers, primarily in their ability to counter psychic power.

If the similarities were merely abilities, then that would be fine.

But the key point was that their styles of conduct were similar.

It was like meeting a colleague.

The female captain, in particular, gave him the feeling of meeting an Inquisitor of the same rank.

A sudden thought occurred to him: their Shimmering Faction had always suffered from a problem:

lack of reputation, unable to attract outstanding Inquisitors; therefore, unable to attract sufficient external support; therefore, unable to accomplish major tasks; because of lack of reputation…

It was a vicious cycle, resulting in a rather slow development of the entire faction.

But right now, it was a golden opportunity!

If they could establish deep cooperation with the Alliance, their lack of personnel would be alleviated to a certain extent. Even if the Shimmering Inquisition couldn’t attract new Inquisitors and training them would take a long time, so what? The Alliance’s demon hunters were a perfect candidate for recruitment.

Besides recruiting Alliance demon hunters to become Inquisitors of the Shimmering Inquisition, there was an even more important point: the Alliance’s support for the Shimmering Inquisition’s future activities.

The Inquisition also had its own preferences for allies. For them, size and strength were certainly important, but they weren’t the only considerations. The missions and situations they often face are small-scale special operations: infiltrations, raids, decapitations…

The military’s role and value to them is sometimes less than that of an elite squad.

The Alliance seems to have no shortage of elite troops.

Loyal Stormtroopers? The Alliance’s Honor Guard seems even more powerful, at least by a wide margin.

Sisters of Battle? Yes.

Space Marines? Yes.

So what more could they ask for?

Even the top Inquisition factions, like the others, only have similar configurations!

Collaboration with the Alliance would be a huge boost to the Shimmering Inquisition! Cases they couldn’t investigate before, or couldn’t solve even if they did, would now be possible.

As for the fact that Alliance demon hunters joining the Shimmering Inquisition would influence them after the partnership, and that leveraging the Alliance’s influence would lead to a significant degree of manipulation by the Alliance… so what?

Isn’t that perfectly normal?

Aside from the three largest Inquisition factions, isn’t this how all other Inquisition factions operate?

Cooperation, influence, mutual benefit…

The Shining Inquisition is now heavily manipulated by the Eastern Cosmic Domain government. Whenever Commander-in-Chief Gu needs something, Chairman Zuo makes a request, and doesn’t this senior Inquisitor rush over?

A similar situation also played out during their previous conflict with the Silver Inquisition.

Even the three mentioned above must, to a certain extent, obey Holy Terra’s orders.

Martini was enthusiastic about the collaboration between the Shining Inquisition and the Alliance.

However, after receiving Gu Hang’s initial response, he didn’t say anything further.

This matter wasn’t really appropriate to discuss with Commander-in-Chief Gu. Given his status and position, such a minor matter could be discussed and implemented with lower-level officials after his approval.

Of course, there was a chance it wouldn’t work out. While he was enthusiastic, his position within the Shining Inquisition wasn’t top-tier, and he couldn’t make independent decisions.

However, he had already made up his mind: even if the higher-ups within the Shining Inquisition disagreed, that wouldn’t matter. He would take a group of Inquisitors with whom he had close ties, separate, and establish a new Inquisition faction.

That might actually be for the better.

At least, with the Alliance’s help, he might soon amass enough merit and prestige to ascend from Senior Inquisitor to Chief Inquisitor.

As long as the Alliance supported him, he wouldn’t mind becoming a sharp weapon in their hands.

…

While Martini was lost in his thoughts, and Fisher was lost in his anxiety, the conference room door finally opened once again.

A black power armor with golden stripes and trimmings… this was the armor color scheme typical of the Alliance’s Honor Guards.

This Honor Guard strode forward, dragging a struggling figure behind him, and threw him directly in front of Gu Hang and the other two.

Then, with a slight salute of respect, the guard withdrew.

Zhai Guangshan stood up, his face dusty and dusty, staring at Gu Hang in disbelief. “When did you… even my ship…”

“About when you first came down,” Gu Hang kindly replied.

But that was where Gu Hang’s kindness ended.

He stood up and said to Martini beside him, “Now, it’s Inquisitor Martini’s job. I trust you’ll bring a satisfactory answer to the Alliance, the Cosmic Government, and the Imperial Central Government.”

After a pause, he continued, “Not only will the investigation into Zhai Guangshan’s crimes be handled by you, but the investigation into Wanmeng Star, the capital of the Menghe Star Region, will also be entrusted to you. The Alliance’s forces here won’t be under your command, but they will cooperate with you as appropriate.”

“This is an attempt. I personally hope this one will yield a better result. What do you think?”

Martini cheered up. “I understand!”

The Senior Inquisitor, his morale boosted, dragged Zhai Guangshan, who alternately begged for mercy and cursed, away.

This tool still had some use.

He had to handle the next task well and pass Commander-in-Chief Gu’s test before he could realize the ideas he had been contemplating.

…

After watching Martini and his men leave, Gu Hang looked at Fisher again and said with a smile, “Then let’s go too.”

“Where… where to?”

“To the Tianma Star Region,” Gu Hang said. “Bring your technical team with you. I won’t go back on my promise. If you want to invest in the Alliance’s shipbuilding industry, you have to see it with your own eyes.”

Fisher breathed a sigh of relief.

Today had been quite a shock. At one point, he really remembered what Zhai Guangshan had said earlier, that the Alliance would turn against their shipbuilding group after obtaining Granya.

Even Zhai Guangshan was finished. Seeing that the terrifying Inquisitor was going to attack Wanmeng Star, what resistance could they have in Granya?

But it seemed that Gu Hang had no such intentions at all.

He was a man of his word. What he promised was what he meant.
